True to her element, Colette is cold as ice. Well that's not entirely true, but that's how she strikes most people at first. Once you get to know Colette, you'll find that behind all those proper manners and that chilly detachment, she really has a heart of gold. Colette is fiercely loyal to her friends and will do anything for them. She can however get rather easily annoyed with just about anyone, and her friends are no exception to this rule. Colette has a very serious outlook on life - as far as she is concerned, we are all here with a purpose and a duty, and your only goal in life should be to complete that duty to the very best of your ability and beyond. Therefor, it goes without saying that Colette is a fanatical perfectionist; a trait that can sometimes get on the nerves of her peers. Those who can respect Colette for her ambition will forever hold good favor with her. She is not without a sense of humor though. It just tends to be rather... dry. But I guarantee, if you can manage to make Colette laugh, or even crack a smile, you'll be gifted to a truly spectacular (albeit rare!) sight indeed.
When it comes to personal and interpersonal matters, Colette remains very distant. This gives her the reputation of being unemotional, and to others, downright heartless. She doesn't allow her feelings on any matter to ever cloud her judgment or influence her decisions. Colette is a very intellectual and sharp character and when it comes to executing a course of action, she does so with utmost precision. Rarely does Colette ever miss the mark, and rarely does anything ever escape her sharp eye. She is constantly observing, taking in, and analyzing information all before calculating the very best options. She may come off at times as rather harsh; she is known for her sharp tongue and has a bad habit of lashing out at times with short remarks that end up leaving rather large scars. Despite this, she's a rather excellent diplomat, and when it comes to issues of diplomacy Colette could make even bad news sound good.
History:
Colette was always a no-nonsense type of person. Even as a kid she showed little emotion and always preferred to focus her attention on matters she deemed more important. She hardly ever played and she didn't have many friends due to people thinking she was mean. Surprisingly, her parents are just the opposite of her. The king and queen, with their warm and friendly personalities, always encouraged Colette to loosen up and have some fun while she was young, but their urging went to no use. Preferring work over play, Colette immersed herself in learning the ways of governing while she was still very young. With near boundless wealth, she grew up quite privileged. As a Hothrogan, a life of luxury surrounded by rich items of gold and gem was something that Colette adopted quite easily.
With a head start on the work she would soon be embracing as an adult, Colette managed to find time to balance both her magical studies and her diplomacy training. It's no secret that she might have some "harsh" ideas about her parents' governing style, and when she becomes queen she plans to reform much of the laws of Hothrog, namely to make them much stricter. As for magic, Colette believes in a very strict policy regarding the restriction of its use. She's come under some scrutiny over this facet of her governing style, as she makes no secret of her great talent with magic. In fact, Colette picked up magic rather quickly and with relative ease from a very young age. The power she possesses is a very ancient and powerful magic that holds command over ice, and seeing as the power goes perfectly with her personality, she's quite the maverick at wielding it. Colette's preference for combat is ice-forged blades, as she likes a weapon that cuts right down to the very core of the enemy similar to her wit.
When knowledge of her great magic reached the far kingdoms of Algrovv to the south, the king sent immediately for her, wishing an audience with the ice princess. Eager to finally be able to discuss her unique magic with another scholar, Colette departed for the Kingdom of Algrovv with no hesitance.
Appearance: Colette is a petite girl of average height (5'6) who's physical appearance is a dead giveaway to her region of birth. With skin as pale and cold as the snow itself, and bright blue eyes the color of ice crystals, people can almost immediately tell she's a Hothrogan at first sight. Her hair is long and straight, just reaching her shoulder blades and is a very pale blonde that appears almost white, although the hair turns a darker and more obvious blonde when she travels south to the warmer lands. Colette prefers opulent dresses in the wintry colors of white, gray, and very light blue. She attributes her dressy style to such things as her wealth, her regal upbringing, and her endless hours in etiquette classes when she were younger, but in truth she thoroughly enjoys such lavishness. She carries herself with a powerful sense of class and dignity that can at first seem intimidating to onlookers; even those of equal class might think her to be of some higher noble upbringing simply because of the way she wears it.
Additionally, Colette has a rather strong face, with sharp features and piercing eyes. She is rarely seen wearing any form of expression except perhaps one of disgust or repressed anger. That's not necessarily how she's actually feeling, rather her face tends to be kind of frozen that way. At times, she will wear clothing specifically designed for magical use such as cloaks, robes, or dresses. Magic garb tends to look similar to what she normally wears except more "mystical". Colette frequently wears things like boots, gloves, scarves, and hats; its just in her nature. She also tends to wear a lot of gems, sometimes even enchanted ones, but never anything other than blue topaz or sapphire - those are her favorites.
