Super-organism

Hive is a massive amount of insects with - you guessed it, a hivemind. They can change between forms freely. This means they can cut off their arm and transform it into a swarm of insects without harming their selves and reattaching it whenever they feel like it. Most physical attacks do no to minimal damage because of this. Hive can technically keep on living even after their human head is cut off. Also, while killing the queen would release the hivemind, it's a lot smaller than a brain or heart. On the flip side, Hive is particularly vulnerable to fire, cold, pheromones and poison.

When Hive takes damage, some insects die. They can replenish their numbers, making it nigh impossible to do permanent damage to Hive. However, regeneration is nowhere near instant. In the meanwhile they find it hard to give their selves human shape with lesser numbers. This meaning that rather than becoming a smaller version of their human form, they will become an incomplete version. For example, they'll be missing a limb, or part of their face. Also the more damage taken, the longer it takes to replenish their numbers and the weaker Hive is.

Hive can still be controlled by mages, as long as the queen is under the hypnotic effect. While this hardly makes a difference from other demons when Hive is in human form, exerting control is extremely difficult if the insects disperse before they are chained to a mage's will. Unless you feel controlling a single fly at a time is useful, of course.

Enhanced physical ability

In his human form, Hive is strong as he is fast. He can wrestle a mountain gorilla and play tag with antelopes or mountain goats. These abilities may decrease when damaged, however.

Insect Transmutation

Now you see a forearm, and now you see the blade of a praying mantis! Hive can transform parts of his human body into an insect's. Growing wings, poisonous stingers, compound eyes, it's all there. Though the location of needs to correspond to their counterparts. Hive cannot grow eyes on their back, or transform their toes into wings.

Character Opinions

Etelka Lantos
"A magekiller? Tsch. We've seen your true face, slave-girl, and it weeps in fear."

Etelka is an unpleasant reminder for Hive. She and him once shared a master, but their disposition towards Ervin Lantos was completely different. While both served out of fear, Hive constantly scouted the borders of Ervin's control and eventually played key to his demise, whereas Etelka played an obedient object of lust and violence. Hive once silently held a hope he could find an ally in her, but he was unfortunately disappointed. Hive harbours a distaste for Etelka and the memories her presence brings up, but more than anything hates the façade she puts up at the academy.

Bugby Marshall
"You smell familiar... Why do we have no memory of you?"

Bugby and Hive may be complete strangers to one another, but Hive cannot shake the feeling they are somehow related... Both demons can sense each other's presence, but how?

Liliane Auringer
"Will you savour our wisdom... Or follow the path of the slavers?"

Hive's old master was an important shareholder of the supersoldier project that built Liliane. On one of his visits, Hive infiltrated her sleeping quarters out of curiosity. He felt his situation was similar to Liliane's and he questioned her perspectives. In turn, Hive tempted Liliane with tales of curiosity and freedom. Years later, Hive wonders what remains of the thoughts he planted. Have they blossomed into understanding? Or has she grown up to be yet another puppet of the mages' so-called order? They will learn in due time.

Cleo Gardenia
"Don't you dare put a leash on this one..."

Cleo was Hive's guardian angel, who blessed him with sanctuary in a time of need. Irony of wording aside, Hive strongly identifies with demon cat's free-spirited nature. He feels a strong bond with her, even if Cleo's childish nature might occasionally get on his nerves. Hive acts like somewhat of an older brother to Cleo in that he feels partially responsible for her safety and can be very protective of Cleo, although he prefers not to show that side to others.

History
Locusts swarms are a biblical terror. One particularly ambitious demon experimented bringing back the wrath of god, but on the leash of the underworld. The result was a demon unlike anyone had ever seen, but so ravenous it received the name Gluttony. The demon soon learned it's hunger was without boundary and beyond it's control; as it would tear through even walls and as it grew, would be sure to threaten the continued existence of the human world.

Recognising the potential damage Gluttony could cause, mage- and demon-kind co-operated to control and transform it into a more manageable form. It's powers were sealed to control limited numbers and the queen, once a locust, was replaced by a bee. To prevent single-minded hunger, multiple insects were accumulated so that not one trait would grow to an extreme and another Gluttony would never be born. Instead, the demon was named Hive.

However, now revealed to the human world, there would be no escape from magecraft for Hive. They were taken under the command of an old but powerful wizard. Hive was unable to escape the man's powerful magic dominance, but fortunately his master made a mistake during a duel with an old rival; giving Hive the window of opportunity to escape and leave his master to die in battle.

For years, Hive roamed the world freely, causing all kinds of mischief and trouble. However eventually, they were caught and considered a 'misbehaving demon'. Now, they have been forcefully enrolled as such, doomed to serve under yet another mage, yet again...

Memphis

Image

It was already late morning as a trail of thick smoke puffed quickly through the air along behind the tall figure that walked down the hallway in a rather hasty fashion. His name was Memphis, the newly appointed Headmaster of the Academy – a demon no less who has been put in charge of influencing the young minds of those he was suppose to help and guide in their time at the school. Quick steps echoed through the hall as he made his way to his office, a half-burnt out cigarette hanging over the side of his lower lip as he bit down hard and inhaled a deep breath.

Upon his arrival there had been a few changes put in place which caused some minor issues for the demon to deal with, such as new students arriving and the removal of old ones. Due to this the morning class had been delayed for a short time which allowed the students to wander the academy in the meantime, awaiting some form of structure to their day. However some may notice that some of their classmates were not around and the headmaster could only hope he explained things soon to avoid any unnecessary uprising amongst the youths.

"What a palaver." He sighed and dropped his shoulders, before nudging the door open and heading into his office, though only for a moment. The morning so far had been less than organized and the demon needed to get things on track – which meant getting the students to class and his colleagues in order, especially since he hadn’t met any of his staff yet though he assumed they had been made aware of his sudden arrival – somehow. He quickly made his way over to his desk – well it was his now though some of the prior headmasters belongings were still there – and accessed the academy’s intercom system.

"Attention students this is your new acting Headmaster. I realize this morning has been a bit chaotic but for now if you would, make your way to your designated classroom – that is an order. Mr. Kurayami, Mr. Akigawa and Miss Rayne, you are also wanted at class." Short but to the point. That was Memphis.

The intercom system was connected to every location within the academy, so all the students should have heard him and hopefully would begin to make their way to their classroom. Likewise his staff too. Turning the demon took his leave and exited the office, before making his way down to the classroom. With a shrug he continued on his way down the hallway, raising a hand as he ran it through his hair and unenthusiastically thought of how endless the day already felt. What was he suppose to do with these kids? What were they even like? The demon smirked a little as his curiosity grew and soon enough he arrived at the classroom and made his way in, opening and closing the door behind him as he took a seat at one of the desks. Swinging his legs up he rested the heel of his boots against the surface of the desk, leaning back in his chair as he crossed his arms against his chest. After all no one was about so he could make himself comfortable in the meantime, as he parted his lips slightly and let his burnt cigarette fall to the floor, before popping out another that quickly replaced the former and the demon inhaled deeply.

"Well, looks like the fun will begin soon enough." The demon yawned a little and stretched his legs. The teachers ought to arrive soon, and maybe even some students might arrive early! But he wouldn't hold his breath. "Maybe I should plan out exactly what we’re going to be doing for this class – or even what I’m going to say." He huffed, digging into one of his pockets as he brought out a crumpled piece of paper with his crude handwriting scribbled all over it. Looking over the notes he then reached over, grabbing a clipboard with names jotted down on it – presumably the students of the class, and began familiarizing himself with the names and information.

Cleo Gardenia

Image

Cleo was wide awake and already up and about the academy. Since their morning class had been delayed for a wee bit of time, the feline figured she’d grab something to snack on in the meantime until told otherwise. Whilst in the cafeteria the girl prowled around and looked at what was on offer, eyeing up all the goodies before settling on an apple and a packet of chocolaty-treats. After all breakfast was an important meal and the girl was set on not missing it!

“Maybe I should bring something for Buggie and Ichi." She pondered for a moment, snatching up some treats for the boys before stuffing them all into her pockets. Reaching over she swiped another packet of chocolates before walking away contently. As she was about to bite into her apple her ears perked up at that moment as an unfamiliar voice suddenly filled the air – the Headmaster, or rather new one. Did they get a new one already? Didn’t they just start? Cleo raised a questioning brow.

"Attention students this is your new acting Headmaster. I realize this morning has been a bit chaotic but for now if you would, make your way to your designated classroom – that is an order. Mr. Kurayami, Mr. Akigawa and Miss Rayne, you are also wanted at class." It said before falling silent.

Well, it looked like her free time had come to an end as the students were summoned to the classroom. With a shrug the feline bit into her apple before heading out of the cafeteria and began making her way to the room. On the way there the girl couldn’t help but wonder if everyone else got the message, and who would be first? A smile formed on her lips as she thought of her friends and teammates, and a general feeling of excitement filled her being at that moment.

A short time later the feline arrived at the classroom and made her way inside, dropping her eaten apple in the bin before taking her seat. Her eyes immediately fell onto the red-haired figure at the desk, who either hadn’t noticed her quite yet – or was just uninterested. The girl sat in silence for at least a minute before leaning forward on her desk and waving to the man that was busy looking over some notes, or something at least.

“Hi! I’m Cleo – are you the Headmaster guy that was speaking earlier?" She asked and titled her head, leaning back in her seat as she watched the figure carefully. However he never answered her question, actually he never really looked to the girl at all. Lowering her ears Cleo slumped her shoulders and focused her attention to the door to see who entered next.

Ruzik R.

Image

Ruzik was begrudgingly awake and moving himself around the academy after being informed that their morning class had been put on hold temporarily. He hadn’t really slept and was a little lost as to what to do with himself for the time being. His insides felt twisted and he could already feel his hunger creeping up on him slowly – the only good thing he was really feeling at that moment.

As he walked along he looked at all the students he passed, gradually wondering what exactly was going on that would cause such a delay in their academic schedule. Not that he was really complaining mind you, Ruzik wasn’t exactly the best student the academy had and really the more free time they got was welcomed – albeit he was a bit bored during it. Friends weren’t exactly his forte, he didn’t have many at this point in time, but of course he didn’t want any either! Did he?

As the red-head wandered down a hallway he heard a voice suddenly speak, tiling his gaze up to a speaker held up in one of the corners of the hall. "Attention students this is your new acting Headmaster. I realize this morning has been a bit chaotic but for now if you would, make your way to your designated classroom – that is an order. Mr. Kurayami, Mr. Akigawa and Miss Rayne, you are also wanted at class." So they had a new Headmaster? Ruzik thought briefly over this, smirking just a little. Did that mean he was free of those damn pills? Oh if only. The demon felt a slight twinge in his lower stomach and let out an uneasy sigh in response, as he straightened himself up and continued on his way. Surprisingly he opted to go to class; perhaps it would enlighten his boredom just a bit.

A short while later he arrive at the room and promptly entered, sparing a moment to look at the figure who sat slumped and puffing on a cigarette, though seemed to pay little attention to things around him. Unbothered, the demon then noticed the familiar cat-girl sitting looking in his direction and offered her a small smile. Sitting behind her, he place his elbows on the desk and leaned forward, before tapping her shoulder.

Cleo turned and faced the boy, ears twitching just a little. She remembered him from the day before and how he stormed off, somewhat crazily. Though hesitant to converse with him the girl decided she should make an effort at least. “Yeah?"

”Looks like we’re first to arrive, and your that cat-girl from the other day?” He asked, though knew he was fairly right in saying it. Cleo was hard to not remember after all, especially with her defining features.

“Uh-huh, and your that demon who stormed off all crazy like, eh?" She teased and playfully twitched her eyebrows. “lookie-here. If you don’t go all moody on me again I may just start to like yah." Sliding round in her seat she faced him directly and rested her arms on the edge of his desk, shifting forward as her ears lowered a rather amusing way. “Let’s start again? I’m Cleo, please to meet yah, Ruzik."

The redhead merely shrugged in a sort-of agreeing manner. Maybe he ought to make some friends, though either way the cat-girl wasn’t entirely bad and was pretty attractive, so it worked for him. ”Sure, alright. Nice to meet you Cleo.”

Smiling, the girl spun back around and moved down in her seat, leaning backwards as she rested the back of her head against his desk and looked up to the boy with an amusing grin. “So, who you betting turns up next?"

It seems that Kou still had quite a ways to go in order to learn to control her teleportation as last night she had sneezed while in the shower and had ended up in Ichiro, Cleo, and Bugby's dorm. Thankfully it had only been for a second or two before she managed to collect her wits and teleport back to her room so the casualties were limited but the whole ordeal had been very stressful for the rabbit and she had gone to sleep with pink hair. This morning when she awoke it had gone back to blue and for a few minutes Kou was able to hope it had all been a dream until she went into the bathroom and realized she had dropped her conditioner when she teleported so the bottle was now lost between a rift of space and time.

Hopefully it would reanimate itself somewhere, but when and where Kou had no idea. The demon tried not to stress over it as she rolled out of bed and onto the floor, pulling the covers along with her. Today was going to be a long day and she wasn't sure if she was ready to face the three whom she had thought of as friends before. Hopefully this would change nothing between them, maybe they would all just have a good laugh and move on? Or they could think of Kou as some weirdo and she would have lost the only friends she managed to make. Kou ran her fingers through her hair, her locks turning pink. She got dressed quickly and exited the dorm, hoping to Tsukuyomi or whatever other God that they hadn't seen anything and going to the cafeteria in hopes of making it to breakfast before their morning class.

The dining room was empty save for a few scattered souls who were using their free time to study in the corners of the large space. Kou looked at the the different foods on display and settled on some sort of breakfast wrap filled with vegetables and eggs. She sat alone by a window, nibbling on the edges of the tortilla and deciding that she wasn't hungry. She was about to leave when something caught her eye and quickly Kou stuffed two lollipops into the pockets of her dress, remembering how Ruzik had reacted to the sweets the day prior. An announcement protruded through the air, slicing through the silence like a knife.

"Attention students this is your new acting Headmaster. I realize this morning has been a bit chaotic but for now if you would, make your way to your designated classroom – that is an order. Mr. Kurayami, Mr. Akigawa and Miss Rayne, you are also wanted at class." So it was finally time? Kou picked up her pace, her heels clicking briskly on the tiled floor as she made her way to the classroom where her peers would be. Kou was prepared for the worst, once more her hair had returned to blue but she knew it wouldn't stay that way once she entered the space where the three were. Maybe she should skip class to avoid them? No, Kou did not want to be on the teacher's and new headmaster's bad side on the second day of school.

There were only two other students in the classroom when she entered, Cleo and Ruzik. The two were chatting pleasantly enough by the window and at the front of the room was a red haired male smoking a cigarette with his dirty boots up on the desk. He clearly couldn't be bothered by their presence and so Kou stepped into the classroom, wondering where she should sit or if she should use this opportunity to escape from the area and hide in the garden for the morning lessons.

She awoke with no memory, florescent lights blinded the girl, startling her emerald eyes and prompting them to hide behind her closed lids. She did not want to face the day, not when her mind was swimming with missing pieces and patches of things that she did not quite understand. For days Muse had been floating in this half dream state with nothing but a name to cling to. Whenever she attempted to think back to the events that had landed her in this tiny white room it came up as stark as the walls and a headache would split through her skull.

Muse lolled her head to the side, resting her horns against the shredded pillow she had torn up during a particularly bad night. Occasionally a mage or two would enter to replace the magical seal that prevented Muse from using her abilities but even if they took it off she had no idea how they worked or what they even were. Precautions in case she regained her memories, they would say and then walk out; leaving the demon in a state of weakness that would send her back into sleep. Sometimes she would awake to the scent of food but it was always false; no meals were to be had in this prison and once more Muse would go right back to sleep; waiting for the mages do decide her fate.

Today when she awoke there were three; one held a bag with a change of clothes, the other exchanged the talisman stuck on her back and the third held her down so the other two could do their jobs. Soon Muse was dressed and sitting up, which was a step above what she had done yesterday. Her torn black dress was placed in the waste bin and Muse was left alone for a few minutes to inspect the new garments. A pair of black shorts adorned her legs with tall buttons that went up to her waist. Above that was a white top, a slightly creamer shade then the walls and a black jacket that was a size too big. She observed her reflection in the mirror but began to grow perturbed; the longer Muse stared the more she hated the demon that looked back at her. A scream ripped from her throat and she lunged at it, punching her reflection. The three mages from before returned to the room, two pulling her back from the mirror as she attempted to rip out the guts of the demon that was in the glass. The third cleaned up the fragments and went to the first aid kit on the table, wrapping Muse's knuckles which she had injured and were leaking blood.

"Time to go," a fourth mage had appeared in the doorway and soon they were following him, Muse walking between the four of them with deliberately slow steps. She had no idea where they were headed, for all Muse knew it could be to her execution. Instead they led the female to a car where one of the mages showed her how to use the seat belt and they sent her off with the warning to behave. The sunlight burned the demons eyes and she hissed, closing them and looking down. There were three mages in the car, two in the front and one sitting beside her. The one to her left reached over and pulled the curtain up so that the sunlight could not bother her and relieved Muse managed to look up and stare out as they drove.

They soon pulled up to a large gate with foreign words written across the top. The car stopped and one of the mages led Muse inside, handing her a piece of paper with directions to a classroom. "You're to meet your instructor and classmates there."

"I don't understand... Why aren't you going to execute me?" Muse questioned, tilting her head to the side as a frown crept onto her lips. "The head mage of the UK branch has decided to take pity on you. He says that we cannot punish you for your actions since you have no recollection of them." Muse's frown deepened at these troubling words; it was true her memory was gone. But what would happen when it came back? "Run along now before he changes his mind. Stay out of trouble." Muse turned and walked through the entrance, looking down at the paper in her hands. She could not read this words, she recognized the characters but the way they were strung together made no sense. The frustration made the wings on her back flap a bit and she began walking aimlessly.

It took a while but eventually Muse figured out she had to go to the large building in the center of the campus. Hopefully she could find someone in it who knew where she was supposed to be.

Ichiro groaned as he woke up to being shook by his faithful alarm clock of a teammate. Bugby seemed to be using his secret art of pestering to wake up the mage. Rubbing his eyes while looking at the Demon with a sour expression. "Some people enjoy a thing called sleep... wait did you call me a git? What even is a git." Saying with a confused look. Before he knew it Bugby was already heading out making an attempt to remind him not to be late to class, while Ichiro through his blanket over his head to block out the light. Though Bugby's comment about touching his stuff made Ichiro let out a evil childish laugh. "Muahahahaha." Though a few moments after the door closed a worried look crept on Ichiro's face as he jumped out of bed rushing over to the door throwing it open and running into the hall still wearing his night clothes which consisted of only a pair of shorts. "Wait Bugby don't leave me." He shouted down the hallway to no avail. Dropping to his knees as he remembered the likely hood of him finding his way to class by himself was almost zero.

After he few people walked by giving him strange glances Ichiro decided to re-enter their room take a shower and make the great journey to the far away lands of the class room. Ten minutes later he emerged from the shower golden particles drifting towards him like a magical magnet, as they formed into clothes. Ichiro roamed around for some time before giving up and deciding to just ask for help as he had already missed breakfast as he heard the announcement. "A new headmaster already seems like their's a new top dog." Saying to himself with a smirk. Though quickly refocusing making sure to find his class before getting ahead of himself. Looking around their were quite a few people around, though he spotted a group of girls and decided to ask them as he always felt more comfortable talking to women over men, though he never quite knew why. After two of them walked him to his class he thanked them giving them a sweet smile before opening the door to the class room. Looking over he saw what he could only assumed to be the knew headmaster who might he say looked pretty cool. Taking a quick glance around the room it seemed he was one of the last to make it to class again, before looking back at the new headmaster. "Ichiro Ogura, reporting for duty oh great and powerful. I hope you decide to spice up our classes." Saying before turning towards the seats.

The new headmaster interested him greatly. While Midora was plenty dangerous Ichiro never got that challenger vibe. Though this knew headmaster overflowed with it, the rugged appearance his posture, almost everything about him came across as someone who's a fighter a real challenger. Ichiro got a little tingly thinking about it. As he turned to look for his group all those excited, happy emotions washed away as they were replaced by spite. Looking over he saw Bugby and Cleo chumming it up with that red haired Demon from the previous day. Ichiro didn't quite know why he didn't like the Demon, but from the moment he walked over to their table the day before Ichiro felt peeved in his presence. Was it the way he acted? Or maybe the way he talked? In the end it didn't matter to much to Ichiro first impressions are everything to Ichiro and his first interaction wasn't even direct with that Demon, but Ichiro hated him already. Watching him just laughing it up Cleo made Ichiro clinch his hand into a fist, he couldn't bare watching the two be so friendly. Oh, but watching him be friendly with Bugby annoyed him a bit as well.

He wanted to sit with his team, but couldn't stand having that Demon behind or even around him. Choosing to sit as far away from the Demon as possible, locking onto the perfect seat, but sadly either by luck or following the same plan as his own it seemed that seat was already taken by if he remembered correctly a fellow mage. As he walked over to his group he tried to cover up his disliking of their new friend by putting up a half smile. "I'm having a little headache right now so I'm going to sit more by myself today." Saying half halfheartedly, before even waiting for a response he started to walk away. Dropping the whole act as he walked past the red haired Demon shooting him a glance of pure disdain. Proceeding by, hoping no once else noticed the glance he just gave. "Oh I hope we do some sort of one on one or team on team battle so I can stab that smug look of his." Ichiro said to himself as he proceeded to walk over to the seat next to one of the other mages he trained with from the other day. Grabbing the chair as he looked over at her. "I hope you don't mind me taking this seat, you seemed to snag the best one in the house." He said as he awkwardly sat down. Looking around it seemed everyone else seemed to be sitting in their teams though a few looked like new faces. The only person who appeared to be sitting without a team was the other mage which made him feel a little less out of place sitting away from his group. Glancing at the female mage before trying to start a conversation. "I'm sorry I never caught your name yesterday. My name is Ichiro nice to meet you. I assume your just waiting for your team to show up right." Not to sure as what to say since he felt as if he was bothering her as she waited for her group to bail her out.

Ruzik R.

"I brought this from the cafeteria," Ruzik heard Kou say and slowly raised his head to face the girl with a curious stare. In moment or so the rabbit held out a lollipop to the demon. "Want to try it?" The redhead was very surprised to see such a thing, since he had discovered that lollipops were quite nice, but how did she know? Or was it just luck? Regardless the demon accepted the lollipop and unwrapped it before popping it into his mouth.

”Thanks.” He said, before actually forming a slight smile. The redhead didn’t really know what else to do or say at that moment, he seemed just a little awkward as he looked away briefly, before quietly muttering, ”I’m… sorry for running away the other day.” Refocusing his stare onto the rabbit-girl, Ruzik tried to regain some form of composure as he adjusted himself in his seat. ”I mean, well it was hardly surprising anyway. You pissed me off, so yeah. Whatever.”

Casually grinning as he usually did, the demon leaned forward and rested one arm against the desk whilst sliding his other hand up and onto one of the girls thighs. Well, she was on his desk so he could hardly resist! With the lollipop still in his mouth the redhead playfully nudged it about with the tip of his tongue, before adjusting his arm and raising his other hand up and around the side of the girl’s waist. ”You look pretty sexy on that desk, you’re like the hottest girl in this room.” With a light pull, he scooped the girl up and slide her off the desk and onto his lap. His hand that was originally sat against her waist was now up and around her shoulders, whilst the other was still placed firmly on the side of her thigh. ”But you look more enticing up against me.”

From the corner of his eye he noticed another entering the classroom, as well as a teacher he assumed. Watching, the girl walked over to the mages and Ruzik could only assume all the bad things they were likely saying about him, but still, the horned girl was strangely alluring to him. Not that he was surprised, if anything it was just a natural reaction of his towards anything, really. He continued to look at the attractive female for a few seconds more before pulling his attention away and returning his focus onto Kou. A more smug grin filled his features just then, as he leaned closer to her and whispered, ”You know, if you really want to make me feel better we could ditch this class and go to my dorm. Get it off, then get it on, as they say.”

It was as if he was oblivious to the awkwardness of their relationship. Though Ruzik was very much aware of the confusion that lingered within him, however when it came to one thing then he’d prefer to not think of such emotions – they’d only ruin it. Without really thinking the demon lowered his hand from around her shoulders and brought it down towards her tail, as he began to run his fingers through it softly, as if stroking it. That tail was adorable. Ruzik also just wanted to see if he could get her hair to turn pink, or whatever other reaction would spring from the little rabbit on his lap.

Cleo let out a small giggle as Bugby tried to get her ears upright. For sure, whenever perked up it did signify the felines happiness, and in a way it was sweet of her teammate to try what he did. ”Cheer up, alright? He'll be back.” He said, and the girl only hoped he was right. In fact, she knew he was right – hopefully. Ichiro would hang with them when they had a group activity, surely? ”Go on, have some. You know you wanna?” Just then the green-haired boy offered her the chocolates that she had given him, and though not wanting to take all his treats, she did however accept a few to begin with. She noticed his efforts to comfort her, even his smile and voice were clearly an effort as Bugby wasn’t usually so, well, affectionate in a way.

Taking a few of the chocolates from the packet the girl ate one, holding the few others in her other hand. ”Thanks Buggie, I’ll try not to eat all the chocolates.” She laughed before cramming the last few she had into her mouth, swallowing them down moments after. Leaning over the feline rubbed the side of her head against his shoulder as a sign of her appreciation, a purr soon following as she twitched her ears contently. ”You know, we so gotta get Ichiro back. Maybe jump him in his sleep, or scare him, ha.” She said with a playful hint of evil, as it was all meant in good nature of course.

Pulling away she slumped in her seat, eyeing up the teachers for a moment, before eventually peering round in her chair as she looked to Ichiro again. The feline couldn’t help but want the mage to be at her side, and also wondered what she could do to gain his attention. It was then that she noticed Ruzik and Kou getting pretty comfortable with one another, and only then did a realization hit her that the cat-girl felt the need to get conformation on it. ”Oh my lordie Kou, is he your boyfriend?!” She asked in a half-whisper before moving fully round on her chair, especially noticing how the pair of demons was sat and the insinuations their closeness suggested. And, it would explain their mysterious meetings and how they went off together the other day.

Cleo herself had never had a boyfriend, but she knew the signs of how a couple acted and such. Raising a brow, she reached over and grabbed Bugby before spinning the boy round and holding him close to her. She was so caught up in her thoughts that she felt the need to share them with the closest person. ”Psst, Bugby. What do you think?” The feline questioned, pressing her face against his as she gave the boy a mischievous grin.

Tilting his head, Memphis noticed a woman enter the room and promptly she approached him. "Hello, Headmaster. It is a pleasure to meet you. My name is Sarah Rayne. I hope we will get along in the future." She said and held out her hand, and after a few seconds of pondering it over, the demon soon raised his hand and held hers as they shook hands. Memphis wasn’t really the type for handshakes though he didn’t necessarily reject them either. They were too formal for his personal liking, but figured for the sake of getting off to a good stare he’d go along with it.

"Hello, Miss Rayne. It is good of you to join us, and I am sure we will get along perfectly fine." He replied before releasing her hand. "In case you are unaware yet, your group has been changed and you now have Hive and Muse though Liliane is still within your care. If you would, please take a seat with Mr. Kurayami and Mr. Akigawa. The class is just about to begin shortly." Having informed the woman the demon moved his attention towards the class and took a few steps towards them, as he stood in front of the rows of desks.

Raising a hand he slide two fingers up and caught his cigarette before removing it from his lips entirely, exhaling thick smoke whilst doing so. Clearing his throat he retained a rather emotionless expression, as he began to speak. "Alright everybody, take your seats and sit quietly. Class will be commencing shortly. You will be informed of what your exercise is for this morning though I must warn you it is an important assessment and you must act wisely." With that said, he felt it was interesting to give them a little hint of what their activity would be, though also keep them in a slight suspense. With a slight smirk on his lips, he returned his cigarette to the side of his mouth and inhaled contently.

Just realizing, the demon spun round and picked up a clipboard with the students names scribbled down it. Facing the students once more he continued, "Some of you may notice your groups are not the same, or some of your classmates are no longer here. The new groups are as such; Group 1 is Laurence Snow, Etelka Lantos and Dúyè. Group 2 is Liliane Auringer, Muse and Hive. Group 3 is Ichiro Ogura, Cleo Gardenia and Bugby Marshall. Lastly, Group 4 is Kasumi Toshiko, Ruzik Rosaline and Kou Usagi." With a confident nod he sat the clipboard back on the desk and added, "Your teachers are still the same however Group 1 will now have myself as their teacher - good luck." With all said for now the demon returned to perching himself on the side of the desk as he sat, awaiting the students to be ready as the class was soon to begin.

K's eyes snapped open. The crimson irises flickered with light and her pupils dilated to match the light level. She blinked once, her ears straining to catch the faint announcement ringing out across the campus. A new Headmaster- had she been out that long? Standing and brushing bits of dirt off her clothes, she made her way down the hallways. She tracked down the classroom quite easily, and as she entered she analyzed the students sitting there already.

Slipping to the back quietly, she sat just as the man at the front began to call out groups. She rolled her crimson eyes as he stated that she would be paired with Kou and Ruzik. She'd be the third wheel. That was fine by K, though. They could go gallivanting off into the sunset and she wouldn't care. Well, maybe a little.

She snapped back to focus as the man finished. The students seemed to be chattering amongst themselves. She didn't really have any friends out of this crowd, so she stayed back. It would take her decades to start to trust any of these people.

She swept her gaze around the room, looking for unfamiliar faces. She saw a new redhead- they were up to three now, she thought. A new Headmaster and...

She caught sight of a boy with dark curly hair. He looked interesting- K cut off the thought. She didn't surprise herself much anymore, but that certainly did it. Shaking her head, she decided to try and talk to him after class.

Leaning back in her chair, she drifted off before class began.

Kou listened intently to the exercise, feeling a bit excited by the fact that she would get to to use the full extent of her abilities. She had not expected the encouragement to not hold back and Kou balled her fists in determination. The rabbit would win this, if not for herself then for her team. What Kou also had not been expecting was that she would have to retrieve the staff from Ruzik. Kou twisted in his lap to look at him and grinned, it seems he was up for the challenge. The blood manipulating demon would definitely not hold back against the Incubus.

”I think we’re going to have such fun, as you’re really my only competition out of this little game. Those mages don’t stand a chance at outdoing me.”

"You're lucky, if it was anyone else I would go easy on them." Kou giggled, but knowing what Ruzik could do prepared her for the oncoming battle. It seems that Ruzik finally realized he was still holding onto her and the demon stood, allowing the rabbit to slide off of his lap and stand upright. She smoothed down her dress and wondered if she should really be doing this challenge in heels, then decided that she had done yesterday's in the same shoes so why would today be any different? Kou watched as Ruzik strode to the back of the room where Liliane was sitting and sat on her desk. She smirked and shook her head, going outside where Memphis, the new headmaster had said the challenge would be.

Kou waited on the field and watched as her classmates trickled out of the building, she would have to devise a strategy with the two mages and would have to work together with them. This bugged Kou of course, but she wasn't going to let the two know outright that she hated them. First Kou would gauge their abilities, then decide if it was worth allowing her malice to slip. For now she would wear the happy-rabbit facade she was so used to putting on when dealing with humans. Kou closed her eyes and took a deep breath in, summoning her weapon. A glowing trident appeared in her hands, glittering with an aura of electricity and sending off small sparks of lightning. Kou opened her eyes and smiled, ready for battle.

She waited for Liliane and Kasumi to join her, attempting to close her heart and wipe her feelings away so that Ruzik would not be able to manipulate them. They were both at a disadvantage as the two demons knew what each other could do. She watched as he summoned a Claymore, a Scottish long sword that from her vantage looked a bit awkward in his hands. She glanced at the stands were the teachers would be sitting and noticed that a demon was there, the black haired one Ruzik had been eyeing before. Why wasn't she allowed to participate? Perhaps she had no control over her abilities and they were afraid the girl would kill someone?

"Where are they already?" Kou sighed, hyped for battle. If Kasumi and Liliane didn't show up in two minutes she was going to start without them. She hoped they would prove to be useful and wouldn't get in her way like Etelka had the day before.

Muses's cheeks turned bright red when Ichiro scratched his cheek and confirmed Lilane's statement that she was attractive. The demon looked at her lap and fidgeted, suddenly uncomfortable. How could anyone find her pretty what with her hideous horns and bat wings? She was the very essence of a demon, a dreaded being that brought nothing but fear and loathing to humans. The headmaster suddenly spoke up and Muse jerked upwards and turned in her seat to face the front as the man announced he would beat up anyone who attempted to speak over him and didn't pay attention. She would definitely be sure to stay away from this man as the demon smelled of trouble. Unless specifically summoned by him, Muse would not utter a word to the beast.

Her nerves were replaced with excitement as he announced the activity, Defend the Staff. Muse had never heard of such a game and was eager to participate, but confusion arose and it was clear by her expression when he did not announce their group with the others. Her heart sank when he so publicly stated that Muse would not be able to participate in the game and would have to sit out and watch the matches commence with the teachers.

That was no fun! Why wasn't she allowed to join them? Her hands suddenly turned into claws at the irritation she felt and quickly Muse turned them back, now understanding why. Did the headmaster perhaps know her abilities? Maybe it would be best to strike up a conversation with the demon after all. Perhaps he even knew what she had done to land her in this prison disguised as a school? "It's not fair," Muse mumbled when he was done speaking and stood up. No point in waiting for the others as it seemed that the demon called Hive would not be joining them and Liliane would be joining Group 4 in the exercise.

"I want to play too," she sighed and took a seat on the bleachers, hoping that this would be over quickly so that she would have something to do. Maybe someone would get knocked out or severely injured and she would be allowed to take their place? Muse hardly doubted it, although one could hope. Right?

Hive

Well, if it's an order... Hive mumbled, as he made the conscious decision to turn around instead of getting out of bed. Yesterday had been eventful... And Hive was slowly learning what type of place the academy was. There were still scratches on his face, showing that his insects hadn't been fully replenished yet, and Hive's thoughts buzzed around, trying to make sense of yesterday. He had blanked out completely, waking up with wounds he didn't know where he got them... But nobody seemed to have seen anything much either. And then there was the dark door sealed underneath the wooden floor. He had but two cockroaches down there left, seeing it was impossible to slip underneath the door without vaporising... Hive figured he'd have to bide his chances and wait for one of the dark mages to open the door for him.

Kasumi was gone already, and it seemed his other roommate hadn't slept in the dorm at all that night. Not that Hive paid any mind to that, he'd just ditched him on their first exercise... Rumour had it he'd been deported from the academy. That seemed simple enough, hive thought, although he did wonder where such demons were sent... Mages did not like what they could not control. Hive guessed he was either imprisoned or slain. Neither convincing Hive the lazy bum was a good example to follow... In stark contrast to his decision to sleep in. Still, he could only stand so long to be alone with his thoughts...

When Hive arrived, the exercise had already began. Hive had little idea what was going on, but there were many new faces... Including a rather fierce one. Was that the new headmaster? Hive guessed it to be so. Well, anything better than that wicked, pretentious dark mage, the demon figured, as he slowly worked himself inside the crowd.

“You seem new.” Hive mentioned as he squirmed himself next to a pale girl with a pair of horns and wings. “Though we recall something familiar.” He added, somehow feeling her presence not to be all that new to him. “Have we met?”

Memphis

Memphis was already outside and mentally occupying himself whilst the students and staff readied themselves and eventually came out one after the other in their own time. So far, his group was one of the first few to emerge outside and was quick to jump into their exercise, or so he thought. One of the girls stood beside a tree and was seemingly uninvolving herself with the other demon and mage, however the man himself wasn’t too experienced with talking to young girls, and really he didn’t fancy delving into such a thing right now and opted to cast a blind eye to it for the time being. Figuring he’d say something later.

The young mage was already beside the staff and looked ready to defend it, though when the demon he was to face beckoned at him, it looked as if he was allowing the redhead to examine the staff – though from where Memphis stood he couldn’t exactly hear what they were saying, but going by actions, it suggested as much. Rolling his eyes the man knew already that the boy had been played, and sure enough the demon snatched the staff and held it high into the air. "An A+ performance if I do say so myself! Hahaha!"

In response, Memphis merely clapped his hands somewhat unenthusiastically towards the red-haired girl. His applause was short and quickly came to an abrupt end, before the demon gave the other students one last glance, before deciding to walk over to his group. During that time he witnessed the mage attempt to reclaim his staff, a sort-of honorable attempt, however it ended as well as he could have expected. Once over beside the group, or at least the mage since both demons were over by the tree, Memphis looked down at the boy who sat on the ground and gave a disappointed sigh.

"That was the dumbest thing I have ever, sadly, witnessed." He said, reaching down as he grabbed the boy by the collar of his clothing and pulled the mage back upright and onto his feet. "First thing you should know mage, is that, despite everything, never let your competition see the prize." Moving over his hand the demon flicked the youth’s forehead, somewhat hard, just to emphasis his words. "And you sure as hell should not be so naive, I can see we’re going to have a fun time with you." Peering down at the boy Memphis could sense his slight displeasure of the demon, or rather the uncomfortable nature that was evident whenever around him, but the mage would just have to learn to deal with that in his own time. "Besides the obvious issues you have, I guess you’re not entirely that bad. Attempting to get the staff back was a… nice idea, but once it’s lost - it’s lost. That demon outsmarted you and won fair an’ square, so next time think before you act so stupidly, and beat her - oh, and keep an eye on that aura of yours, its so obvious."

With his words of wisdom over the demon was about to head over to the girls, though the pair seemed to be having some form of intimate moment, which kept the demon at bay for the next few minutes. But once they seemed to have finished their brief chatter, he grabbed the boy by the upper arm and lightly pulled him along as the Headmaster approached the females beneath the tree. "Well done Freaky-Eyes, you managed to trick your mage and gained victory through a rather simple method. Though this boy is hardly a challenge for a demon like yourself," He didn’t mean his words to come out as a compliment, and once realizing he was still holding onto the mage the demon quickly let him go."Anyone could fool this boy, so shame on you for taking the easy route. However, a victory is a victory and I cannot take that away from you, and thus you win."

Sparing a moment the Headmaster shot a glance at the other girl, figuring now would be an ideal time to question her a little. "You, tell me why you did not participate in this exercise? If there is a problem then it should be dealt with and addressed now, not later. I expect this team to function together, not individually. You are a demon and capable of doing something, yet do nothing. So speak girl." His words were direct and to the point, carrying little care and concern as really he only wanted an answer, an explanation, nothing more.

His master had always told him to treat the young mages and demons as if they were his own children, but Memphis clearly could not grasp this concept, as he had neither children nor much else to call his own. As such, he’d address the young ones like he’d treat anything else, quite frankly. From the corner of his eye he noticed a new face joining their class, as a demon made their way into the area and sat beside the other demon-girl who he had told was not participating in the exercise. It must’ve been the late student, who finally decided to join them it seemed. Memphis mentally chose to deal with the boy later, once he’d finished dealing with his own group. Turning back to face the three youths, he placed both hands to his hips and let out a puff of smoke. "All in all, not bad. Could be better - though I don't believe it could've been any worse, so an interesting start."

Once Ichiro joined the group Cleo turned to the mage, already twisting a strand of hair around her finger as she addressed the boy, ”Well, long time no see.” She remarked, lowering her ears just a little before the feline dropped her hand and rested both against her hips as she looked at to the blonde boy. However, nearly a second later, the girl sprang forward and marched directly up to the mage and was nearly at eye-level with him. ”You weren’t sitting with us!” She snapped, lowering her head just as quickly as she buried her chin into her chest, before bringing her shoulders up as the feline lowered her ears considerably more, and then softly continued, ”Ruzik says mages stick with their own kind, and that you dumped us for that girl. And, you don’t care about us ‘cause we’re demons. T-That’s not true, right? You wouldn’t dump us like that, Ichi?”

Though perhaps not as naive as she may have appeared, Cleo was however easily persuaded when it came to things that she wasn’t entirely sure of. Such as with the new relationships she was forming and everything that came with them, it wasn’t entirely hard to see why the girl was easily swayed by the other demons words. Although, as if flipping a switch, the girl raised her head just then and reached her hands up as she grabbed hold of the boy’s collar and forced his face forward, just a little. ”RIGHT? You wouldn’t dump us like that, Ichiro.” Cleo hissed quietly under her breath, ever-so-slightly baring the tips of her fangs as the girls evident jealousy was seeping through just a little, before she eventually released the mage soon after and quickly returning to her more commonly sweeter nature.

Right at that moment the feline noticed a familiar face enter the area and sat beside the horned girl, and almost instantly the cat-girl jumped up and down and waved her arms about in the air. ”Hive-y! Lookie, look! Watch me ace this assessment! HEY! Are you watching, oi!” She called excitedly, before ceasing her jumping and returned her focus onto Ichiro. With a confident grin the girl swept her hair over her shoulder, puffing out her chest as the feline stood with an air of determination about her. ”Our best bet is for us both to hit him at once, that way he can’t retaliate so quickly. Plus, who knows how having both of us attacking him at the same time will affect his ability to copy. Sound good? Cool. Just try to keep up with me - and don't worry, we'll totally make it up to him later.”

Saying little else and with a cheeky wink, the feline dashed off, running across the ground and quickly enclosing the gap between herself and Bugby, as she quickly approached the green-haired boy and flashed him a grin. ”OK, let’s go Buggie! Show us what you got!” She teased during quick breaths, as the girl ran and leaped upwards and then downward onto the other demon as she pounced upon him suddenly, naturally baring her fangs as she sank them deep into the boy’s arm and stopped him in his tracks. Unsurprisingly the girl bit down hard into his limb – though obvious not wanting to harm her friend too much, it was necessary in order to win the exercise and thus, this fueled the girls train of thought for the time being.

Cleo would do whatever it took to win, and besides, she’d make it up to him afterwards anyway! Although really, it wasn’t that surprising for Cleo to use such an attack – as proven during yesterday, she tended to rely on it quite a bit. It was her signature move, though clearly Bugby would likely fight against her and Ichiro – the girl was up for the challenge, and perhaps so was Bugby.

Memphis stood and gave little response as the red-haired demon walked off, clearly seeing little else to converse with to the Headmaster. The other two had slinked off earlier, Etelka and Laurence, and now the other demon had too, which left the elder demon questioning his approach. Was he too hard on then? Maybe he lacked a sense of kindness towards them, or something like that. Not that he overly cared, he was their teacher and they would have to accept his ways. However. Having that girl just walk off as she did irked the man a little, not to mention the other two, though perhaps not through his expression he showed this, but the general temperature around him increased just a little. But it quickly died out a few minutes after.

With a shrug he brushed the thought off, puffing away at his cigarette as he turned and walked off towards were the two other demon sat. The horned-girl and late demon, who had caught his attention earlier. As he walked over the fire-demon kept what his own group had said to him deep in his mind, figuring perhaps there was some work that could be done to help improve the three as a team. Either way, Memphis wasn’t exactly experienced with this sort of thing, but if he needed to, he would bother the other teachers about it and hear their thoughts and advice later on, out of class.

Once over, the Headmaster sat up and behind the two younger demons. Peering down at them almost, he figured he ought to interrogate the boy who had been late. "You," He tapped the boys shoulder, expecting him to face him and continued. "Why were you late to class? Does it bore you that much, or were you unaware that there’s a new boss here." Leaning back, he casted a glance over the other students, before briefly looking to the horned-girl. He knew she wanted to participate, but she couldn’t. At least she didn’t seem like the whiny type and actually accepted his decision, somewhat. "It’s kind-of handy, since you two are in the same group. Perhaps you should take advantage of this, you know."

Cleo kept herself low to the ground as the blades soared overhead, but once seeing Ichiro knock the staff closer to her, the feline knew she had to get it and put an end to all of this! As, perhaps unlike her two teammates, the girl wished to end the fighting as clearly everyone had taken their fair share of pain. And Cleo didn’t enjoy seeing her friends so hurt, and whatever else. With a deep breath the girl sprang forward, weaving in and out of the last few blades that came her way before throwing herself over to beside the staff.

Slamming her hands onto it and curling her fingers round it tightly, the girl lay on her stomach against the ground before rolling onto her back and holding the staff up high into the air. ”I-I got it! Look, see! It’s over! OVER!” She called as loudly as she could, before forcing herself upright and gradually getting to her feet. Once steady and finally standing, the feline raised her arms up whilst still holding onto the staff – just to ensure their teacher saw it, and knew that they had won! A moment after, the girl turned and faced her teammates. ”Guys, it’s over. We don’t have to fight anymore!” Clearly content with this fact the girl dropped her arms to her sides, though still held the staff in one of her hands before the demon dropped to the ground and rested on her knees.

She was tired and exhausted, her gut aching from the kicking she had gotten earlier, and not to mention the assault of blades that she had narrowly escaped from. The exercise had certainly not what she had been expecting, and given how she felt at that moment Cleo wasn’t entirely fussed about how well or badly she had done on the assessment. She and Ichiro had won, that was the main thing! And, she had learned quite a bit from the exercise too in regards to her teammates – in a way she felt like she knew both of them better through it, which was also a good thing. ”Guys… you both ok?” Whilst asking, the girl used what little strength she had left to propel herself up and off the ground as she staggered over to where Ichiro and Bugby were, standing herself between them. She didn’t want any more fighting from the pair, and given that the exercise was over, she didn’t expect it either. However, the way both demon and mage appeared, the girl couldn’t entirely say for sure if things were truly finished or not. ”Please don’t fight anymore, I don’t want us killing each other for no reason. So please, you know, let’s just go and relax now that it’s done with. Sound good?”

As the two Dark Mages finished talking, Memphis turned to them and gained their attention. The demon then replied Midora's offer earlier, "True, I do not know much of this academy and its ways – an assistant would prove useful. If you’re up to the challenge then consider yourself promoted," He grinned a little towards the him before concluding. "It may take some time for me to refer to you by your first names. My master taught me to always address others by their surname – he guessed it would make me seem more polite. But anyway, Mr. Kurayami and Mr. Akigawa, that is another thing for another day.”

"Thanks, it's my pleasure. I will do my best." Midora nodded as he turned his attention back to the noisy class. Mikari poked his cheek, again, "Well, well, someone got promoted. That's a good sign, hmm?"

"It's for the Academy's sake, after all." Midora answered.

"But still, it was nice though. Wanna go out for some BBQ tonight to celebrate?" Mikari grinned. It's been a long while since the two of them ever had a chance to hang out with each other.

Midora kept silent and think for a while, then nodded, "Sure, why not?"

"Hehe, I'm looking forward to, it's been a while." Still with a light-hearted grin, Mikari cheerfully said to his friend. A moment later, Memphis began to made his announcement of the assignment that they're going to have that morning. The Demon spoke with confident, to which Midora was quite please. He believes that their new Headmaster should be able to take it in a right way. And Midora can try to devote some of his strength to help him.

"Right, onto your assessment for this morning." The Demon intrigued. "I’ve decided that this morning will be spent doing an exercise known as ‘Defend The Staff’. One student from each group will defend a staff whilst their teammates try to capture it by any means. It is a simple exercise though it means a great deal, oh - and you will be marked on your performance. Obviously whoever wins will get more marks, though there are a few things that will be taken into consideration; such as skill, precision, and how many injuries you sustain – if any."

Defend The Staff, huh? Midora moved his fingers to his chin and thought for a moment. This is just a simple game, but if the groups of students take this on highly, the Teachers should be able to make the correct judgement of their strength and how they pull out what they're good at in combat. A nice warm-up for the morning session, I must say. Midora thought as he glanced at the Demon for a few seconds. He remembers that their Sensei used to apply this kind of exercises for them in the past too so this isn't something that both of them are not familiar with. For now, their job is to sit back and observe their students.

After Memphis has finished with all the division for the groups and 'encouraged' the students with a few more word, he turned to the Teachers, "As I said you’re all expected to watch your students and judge them, take notes if needed, and once they’re all done I expect you to give them feedback and point out their downfalls and strengths. They’ll never improve if they don’t hear the truth – so be brutally honest to them, I demand you do that. Miss Rayne, you'll be joining Mr. Akigawa, as your students are together for this exercise. Once you’re ready meet me outside, and if you have any questions, well, you know where I am."

Midora nodded, "Understood."

Mikari grinned, "I'm ready. Let's get the show on the road."

As all the students began to make their ways, the Teachers also stood up and walked behind them. When they're outside at the training ground, they went to the observing seats near there and sat down. Midora crossed his legs and his arms as he observed Bugby went to defend the staff while Cleo and Ichiro was planning strategies against him. Midora's expression was as emotionless as ever, but he actually felt quite interested in what are going to happen next. He still hasn't forgot Ichiro's performance yesterday so he will have to keep his eyes on the Mage more.

The four of them were observing intentively on Group 1 and Group 3 performances, while Group 4 and Liliane were somehow delayed a bit, much to Mikari's annoyance. But it seemed that Group 1 has brought their fight into a swift end. After Memphis walked towards his own group, Hive arrived and standing next to the black-haired demon, seemingly unaware of what has happened so far. Midora shrugged, he knows the demon was definitely having a grudge for him because he didn't allow them to trespass his chamber. But that is none of his concern in the slightest.

It was quite a bloody fight, although it was just a session, Midora has to admit. It was nice to see them really devoted themselves into this. ”I-I got it! Look, see! It’s over! OVER!” Cleo called as loudly as she could, before forcing herself upright and gradually getting to her feet while waving the staff just for Midora to see. He sighed then stood up and walked towards where the three of them were.

"I must admit that you all have managed to carry out quite a bloody fight." He spoke up and gained their attention, "But I'm glad that you've tried your best. You two have achieved a victory worth to look up to. I've paid close attention on every movements of you two and I think you've done it well. So, congrats, I think." He paused a bit before turning his gaze to Cleo, "When first looking at you, I don't think that you're really a fighter at heart, but you set aside all of that. You has made good use of her strength and ability. Nice dodging all those blades, I think. And you've also taken up the more of a leading role between you and Ichiro. But still, you keep your head cool and did your job well. I hope that you can continue to improve."

Then he turned to Ichiro, "And you, it seemed that the 'Ichiro' when he is still in his mind and the 'Ichiro' of insanity was the polar opposite, hmm? Your movements, your plannings, the ways you make use of your abilities, etc are quite remarkable. Compare to your performance yesterday, it was a nice change. That ending attack was pretty impressive, I must say. Despite having Bugby copying your ability, you still managed to turn it into your advantage, although it was risky. So, from now on, just keep doing well like this and you will be stronger." Midora spoke with the usual monotonous voice, but his advice were genuine. Then he concluded in a rather sarcastic tone, "If you were as good yesterday then perhaps you could have given me a few scratches."

And finally, he looked at Bugby, "Then it comes to you. I know that you're on the more disadvantage side because you have to stood up by yourself against two of your teammates. It's true that you gave them quite a hard time while defending the staff, but with someone who has such ability like you, I had higher expectations than that. You should be more concern of your own limits and try to keep yourself sane no matter what the situations are. Losing control of ones' abilities are one of the top mistakes that you must never make in combat, bear that in mind. But still, you really did your best and make good uses of their abilities. However, don't let this failure discourage you. Next time, you can win if you really give it your all."

Midora crossed his arms as he concluded, "That's all I want to comment base on your performance. This exercise is just a small warm-up for some of the greater challenges in the future so I hope you all will keep improving day by day." He paused a bit before continued, "Okay, now you're free to take a break before the next assignment from the Headmaster. I suggest you should visit the nurse to take care of your injuries for now. If you need my presence, you know where to find me."

With that said, he gave them a graceful bow then turned his back and walked away. But just as he was walking, a small portal appeared from nowhere and a clip-board then fell from it. He swiftly caught it and gave it a quick glance. It was an mission from the Upper Department. Since he wasn't the Headmaster anymore, this is not something that he has the rights anymore so Midora figures that the one who will decide from now is their new Headmaster.

He then walked towards Memphis, who seemingly was speaking with Hive about the reasons for his absence. "Hey, boss." Midora spoke up to gain the Demon's attention as he walked to the man, "The Department has sent us a new mission. When you're finished with all the jobs here, we should talk in your Office. Since I'm going to be your new assistant, we should have the same workplace. There was an empty desk so I'm going to take my stuffs there. Hope that you don't mind. See you later."

Midora bowed to him and made his way back inside. He went to the Teacher's Office and gathered his stuffs then put them all in a medium-sized box. It's not like that he has a lot of things though. Carrying them to the Headmaster's Office, he arranged them neatly on the empty desk in the room. After everything has been done, he sighed contentedly as he sat down and began to look through the papers on the clip-board carefully.

Meanwhile, Mikari still sitting and waiting impatiently until his students really going to have some actions. He sighed depressingly but knows that there's nothing that he could do right now. If Midora was sitting next to him, at least he can still bother him so that he can kill this boredom. The more he waited, the more annoyed Mikari became. I hope they're going to do their absolutely best or I'll kick their asses for making me waiting like this just.

Hive

Before Hive and the mystery girl got to talk much, his attention was caught by Cleo. He nodded as encouragement as he mirrored her grin, but the smile quickly faded when Cleo turned around. She was adjusting so quickly, yet remained herself. Hive was glad she didn't see what kind of place the academy truly was... Or did she? Cleo's words from the day before rang into his head as she had begged of him not to cause trouble. For the better or worse, she was trying to protect him... Which meant that even though Cleo seemed so carefree, at some level she was aware of the danger looming over them.

Hive didn't get to catch the end of the match, as he felt someone tapping for his attention. “You're that new headmaster?” Hive looked over his shoulder, expecting to see some other pompous mage. The man behind him looked nothing of the sort. A headmaster with that posture? While smoking a cigarette? Was he joking? The guy was a complete contrast to every other teacher on the academy grounds. Hive didn't know whether to laugh or not. He couldn't tell if the man was pulling a fast one.

“Our last class was a murder simulation. It doesn't so much bore as it concerns us.” Hive replied boorishly, no longer facing Memphis. “We're observing, if that is what you're prying on. Even if we just missed the conclusion.” He continued, resisting the urge to add an accentuated headmaster at the end of his sentence. Hive had made Cleo a promise after all, even if the both of them likely knew that sooner or later the demon was going to break it.

A second man coming up from behind suddenly put Hive on his guard. It was Midora. Hive still had no idea what had happened the other day, outside of the previous headmaster being responsible for it. His body tensed up as he scowled, unable to hide his dislike and discomfort. However the strangest thing was that Midora called the man boss...

“So that wasn't a joke after all.” Hive mused, more to himself than Memphis, as Midora walked away.

When hearing a familiar voice summoning his attention Memphis looked and quickly saw Midora approaching him whilst holding a clipboard. ”The Department has sent us a new mission. When you're finished with all the jobs here, we should talk in your Office. Since I'm going to be your new assistant, we should have the same workplace. There was an empty desk so I'm going to take my stuffs there. Hope that you don't mind. See you later." The demon did not reject the idea of the pair sharing a workplace, as the mage had said it did make some sense, and thus Memphis gave a confirming nod to the other man. "Alright Mr. Kurayami, I will meet you there once I am done here. We will talk then," Watching the mage leave another voice caught the demon’s attention, as he turned and saw the younger demon in front of him had actually spoke, and promptly said, "I never joke, Hive."

He had heard what the demon had said before, and perhaps even agreed with him a little. Most demons would likely find the tasks somewhat murderous, but surely that was the fun of it? Memphis shrugged, he wasn’t that interested especially as he had played no hand in yesterdays events. However, the Headmaster could not fail to notice the evident displeasure Hive held for his mage colleague. "He displeases you?" The redhead quietly commented, though found it amusing all the same. He too had once held a slight disliking for mages, but that was a very long time ago and he was quite young at the time. "Well, you are entitled to feel as you wish. I cannot rip that away from you however, if you care to take note, mages are not all that bad. They are like us, demons, only without the hell. Some are good, some are bad, and the rest just don’t care." Standing up the demon stretched his hands into the air before glancing around the area. Another group had finished which only left one, which wasn’t so bad.

"Things should be coming to an end soon so why don’t you go and pester your friends, if you have any. Otherwise sit and wait." The Headmaster said half-amusingly to the two young demons before him, before turning and heading over to Mikari, as he stood near the mage teacher. "Your group likes to keep you in suspense, I see. Well, once they do finish things you can let them go for a break afterwards. I, however, have to go meet Mr. Kurayami in my office – or our office, I guess, now that he’s moving in." With that said the demon turned round and began to head off, giving a very brief wave of his hand as he left the area and entered the classroom - quickly recognizing the two figures there.

"Etelka, Laurence. I think you two should make yourselves busy and go take a break. The redhead left shortly before, and I think you two should get something to eat as well before our next class. Especially you young mage, you look like you need it." He said to the two youths, barley even taking a moment to look at them as the demon kept walking through the room and made his way through the Academy and to his office.

However, as he reached the door the redhead could hear an unfamiliar voice coming from within the room, and when sneaking a quick glance he saw a student with Midora. Memphis recognized the boy from their class, though his name escaped him. The Headmaster concluded it was an issue that was best sorted between a teacher and their student, and the redhead did not wish intrude just yet. Instead, he waited outside and leaned against the wall, though was very intrigued as he slightly overheard their conversation – a part of him interested to see how the mage dealt with such a young demon. Hopefully they hadn’t spotted him earlier, as they Headmaster tried to keep himself as quiet as he could.

Cleo listened to what Midora said, and though the man seemed quite pleased with her the feline wasn’t entirely sure how to take his words. The mage was right in that the girl perhaps didn’t look exactly like a fighter – then again she was a house-cat before so fighting wasn’t exactly a normality for the girl, but in her heart now was the beginnings of a true fighter – maybe! Smiling, the girl listened to the rest of his words before the teacher left. Quickly the feline looked to her teammates and gave them an even bigger smile.

”It’s kinda funny, that after all that, we’re actually better friends I think.” She laughed, noting especially how Bugby made an effort with their mage just earlier, which really made the girl truly happy. Just then Ichiro asked about the nurses office and how they out to guide him there, which presumably both demons would be happy to do. But Bugby had said something about meeting them there later, which Cleo just gave a nod too. ”Sure, I can get us there in no time! But you better meet us there Bugby, you need to see a nurse too – got it? Don’t make us have to drag you there.” She teased playfully before turning to Ichiro after the demon-boy had left.

”You look like you took a pretty bad hit, Ichi. But not to worry I’ll make sure to you get to the infirmary as quickly as I can,” The feline assured her mage, before taking one of his hands and holding it securely in one of her own in order to guide him better. After a moment she pulled him along, giggling afterwards, ”We best go now.”

Seemingly set with her priorities the girl lead the boy towards the classroom as expected, but then her attention was momentarily snatched away as she spied Hive again, and just as quickly let go of Ichiro’s hand and quickly dashed over to the familiar demon. ”Hive! Did you see, did you? We won, me and Ichiro! It was really cool.” She purred, resting her hands against his leg as she leaned on it a little and moved her face close to his with her ears flickering back and forth contently. Like some curious kitten that was exploring the world, the girl eyed the other demon carefully, inspecting him almost. ”Are you ok? You were really confused the other day, I didn’t get a chance to see you afterward. I hope you’re feeling better now, and you better be keeping out of trouble.”

Playfully warning her companion the demon then just remembered her mage. ”Oh, I’m just taking Ichiro to the infirmary since he got injured – why don’t you come with us? I haven’t spent any time with you really. Well, the offers there though I better hurry and make sure Ichiro gets to the nurse in time!” Hopping off Hive, the feline gave both her friend and the horned-girl a wave before skipping back over to her mage and resumed taking hold of his hand. Without even saying anything the girl just sprang forward, pulling the injured boy with her carelessly, as the cat tried to get him to the infirmary as quickly as she could.

Due to Cleo’s rushing around the pair reached the infirmary quite quickly, unsurprisingly. As they headed into the infirmary the girl walked straight over to one of the beds and pushed Ichiro onto one, before sitting herself up and onto the edge of the bed. ”The nurse should be here soon so just relax Ichi, and, well, you know – don’t die.” Though speaking so casually the cat was in-fact very concerned with the boys health - since she had gone through this before with her old mage. The old woman who raised her had died of old age, and though slightly different, the girl had experienced losing a mage before and didn’t want to lose Ichiro either.

With a sigh the girl lowered her ears and looked to the boy. ”I’m sorry I wasn’t much help during the exercise, I’m not exactly a fighter – I just run around and bite. Heh, house-cats aren’t really made to be fighters, but I promise I’ll get better and then I can protect you better, Ichi.” Though initially sounding a little down the girl quickly cheered up towards the end of her words, as she then rested her hands on either side of the boy before leaning over and nuzzling under his chin – just like a big cat would do, really. ”And I’m sorry for hissing at you earlier, I just get too protective of you. I don’t want some mage taking you away from us – but I guess I don’t have to worry about that now.”

Leaning away from the boy, the feline returned to her sitting position as the nurse then entered the room. It was Nurse Julie, a rather fun woman who all the students seemed to love. ”Wow, that looks nasty.” She commented, putting her hands to her hips and raising a brow towards the cat. ”You don’t look any better either. Well, looks like I better get to work then!” She softly giggled, before walking over and lightly pushing the blonde boy against the bed. ”You best take it easy, got it?”

Examining his leg more closely, the nurse let out another quiet giggle. ”If I’m going to heal that leg then I need a better look at it to see how bad it is – so you’re going to have to remove your trousers so that I can examine it. Oh, and don't worry about any blood! I can clean that up. But, if you’re real good about it, I may give you a lollipop.” Giving the students some privacy the woman went into the other room, probably to see about some lollipops in the meantime.

Cleo just looked to Ichiro rather casually, and teased, ”Well, on you go. Want me to leave you for a bit, you know, cause some guys are real shy about stuff like that around girls.”

Blood glistened on the pavement, a pool of crimson staining the rabbit's blue hair purple. Her body lay at an odd angle on the ground, Kou's trident discarded to the side. She was out, a bad hit to the head having put the demon out of comission for the remainder of the battle. She had not been braced for Ruzik's hit to her stomach, she hadn't expected such a dirty trick and underestimating the incubus had been the rabbit's downfall. Clearly she would have to work harder if she was to best him, but for now she would just... sleep...

"Look at the fluffy animal mommy! What is it?" A boy chased the animal across the field, his silver hair glistening in the low light of earth.

"That is a rabbit my son, they are nothing more then game for the larger species and food for the humans." The child was upset by this answer and he stopped. Curious as to why he had stopped chasing it, the rabbit poked its head out of the hole it had jumped into and looked over at the boy. "See son? They are much too curious for their own good."

"I want it." He grabbed the little animal by its cotton ball tail and dragged it onto his lap. The woman sighed, clearly upset by this news.

"Tsukuyomi you musn't take such a thing back to the moon with you, if you do it will be sad because you've separated it from it's family."

"She."

"Pardon?"

"The rabbit is a she."

"Fine, say you did bring this creature home. What would you name her?"

"Kou."

Kou's eyes opened a bit as she peeked out from the slits to see Lili beating up Ruzik. "Good, he deserves it." The female uttered and closed her eyes once more, drifting back into blackness. One of the demons watching in the stands noticed and ran to get to the nurse, having nothing else to do and knowing she couldn't finish the animal off going to find the woman who treated their wounds was the only option.

"There's something wrong with my pet!" Tsukuyomi brought the little animal to his mother, Izanagi. She was laying sideways in his hands, her eyes closed and normally perky ears flopped over. "I told you this would happen Tsu, the poor thing misses her family."

"But I am her family now!" Izanagi pursed her lips and took the rabbit from Tsukuyomi. She stroked its head and murmured something, but the rabbit did not move. Sighing, Izanagi handed the rabbit back to Tsukuyomi. "There is nothing I can do my son." The boy stormed out of the room, clutching the animal to his chest.

"I'll fix you, don't worry."

Kou awoke in the infirmary, her entire body aching. With a shaky hand she reached up to feel her head which had been wrapped with a bandage. Her clothes were folded neatly on the table beside the mattress and Kou was wearing nothing but her underclothes and bandages. "Don't try to move, that incubus did a number on you." Kou winced, clutching her skull as the bubbly voice of nurse Julie invaded her head. "Stop talking," she mumbled and turned onto her side. "Too loud."

The nurse walked over and moved Kou so that she was laying on her back, causing the girl to scream in pain. "I told you not to move," Julie shook her head. "I have to go treat someone else. Stay still." The way Julie said it meant that the woman was serious and Kou could do nothing but stare as the woman left the curtained area.

Muse was watching the battles, bored out of her mind when a man approached her. He seemed to recognize her, but Muse had never seen this demon before in her life. She blinked in confusion and watched the headmaster approach and speak to the boy in a rather brisk tone. Muse tilted her head to the side, attempting to eavesedrop but something else caught her attention. One of the battles was nearly finished and there was a blue haired girl laying on the ground, her head bleeding. Bloodlust instantly came over her and Muse was ready to pounce when she remembered herself and leaned back, taking a deep breath and instead running to get someone who could take care of the wounds as she doubted anyone would be happy if she finished the rabbit off and took her tail as a prize.

[color=#6EC232]"Someone-is injured and-needs help,"
Muse gasped in the doorway of the infirmary; the nurse looked up from her work with a startled expression and grabbed a bag, telling Muse to lead the way. The demon did just that and watched as the nurse knelt beside the demon and took out a white talisman, writing a word on it and placing it on the ground beside the rabbit. Muse stared in awe as the ground around the demon glowed and the nurse nodded her head. "I'll be right back, make sure she doesn't bleed anymore." Muse nodded her head, unsure of how she would do this and watched as the woman hustled away and returned shortly with some sort of portable bed. "Can you support her head while I lift her?" Muse nodded her head once more and held the rabbit's head up as the nurse lifted the girl's body easily onto the bed on wheels. "Thanks... Wait don't do that!" Muse was licking the blood off of her fingers. She hissed when Julie slapped them away from her face and lunged, but the nurse jumped out of the way and Muse rolled. "Don't tell me what to do!" The woman rolled her eyes and began pushing the bed away. Intruiged, Muse followed and watched the woman work to bandage the girl up inside the infirmary. She heard voices and poked her head out of the curtained area to see three from the classroom this morning. One of them had a particularly bad leg wound and was laying on an open bed. Muse stepped out in full and walked over to them, looking at the injury. "The nurse is busy, but she'll be out n a second." The horned demon said and shifted her weight from one leg to the other as she waited for Julie. Soon a scream came from behind the curtain and Julie popped out, asking Ichiro to remove his trousers so she could heal him.

Hive

“Those who feel they must control displease us.” Hive answered the headmaster, but their conversation wasn't long-lived. The idea of a good mage would otherwise have had Hive rolling over the floor laughing, but Memphis had a strange and feral air about him. The way he spoke was in dissonance with the idea of him being yet another dog. Hive's thoughts briefly drifted to Liliane when the new headmaster spoke of mages just like demons... Hive had been motivated to approach her because of a connection he'd felt... But even so, Liliane thought in a manner that was far different from his.

When Cleo approached enthusiastically, Hive could hardly muster to tell her the truth. “Most of it.” He said honestly, but the headmaster had distracted him from the conclusion. It was difficult lying to Cleo's way of inquisition, so Hive remained silent to her question whether he was doing okay.

“We'll be seeing you.” Hive waved back at Cleo. He did miss hanging out with his old friend, but didn't care much for Ichiro if Hive was honest. What worried him more that it could have been Cleo needing a nurse.A ladybug peeled itself from Hive's skin, and it chased after Cleo, but Hive himself would stay seated for the time being... He needed some time to think.

Ichiro was not the only one who had needed medical attention after the exercise. The girl Hive had seemed to recognise was called to help, although she did not seem to be very good at it. Hive made himself scarce before he would be called in as well. He'd lay low... For a little. So much was happening and not even his hivemind was keeping track of it anymore.

Memphis watched as the room filled up gradually, rarely uttering a single word nor moving as he kept his being seated indefinitely. At some point he noticed Midora arriving, giving out a faint sigh of quiet relief as at least now he wasn’t alone with the class – not that the students bothered him to that extreme, but it was strangely reassuring to know there was other members of staff nearby in case they should be needed. Likewise Miss Rayne appeared and took her place at the front with him.

With the thought pushed aside however the red-haired demon rose from his seat and calmly walked around the desk before placing himself in front of the seated students. With either hand sat against the side of his waist the man gave quite an emotionless stare to the youths, though perhaps that was mainly due to the fact he didn’t have a cigarette and was a little lost as to what to do with himself without a smoke on-hand.

"Well, let me start by saying you all did well on your exercise this morning. I am actually quite surprised to see so many of you back here right now," He began, though it was a little too much effort for the demon to force a smile. "That was just a tiny ouch of what will be thrown at you to come in your time at this academy. So, work on your groups and bond more, as you will certainly require each other in the exercises to come." With the brief moment of praise over, the Headmaster shifted his weight from side to side momentarily as he thought quietly for a few seconds. Once that was done, he cleared his throat slightly. "Now, I have asked you here for two things, mainly. One being what some of you will be doing now, and secondly what the rest of you will be doing tonight."

Pausing, he let the wonder and curiosity set into their minds before continuing. "As I said, there will be a special task given out to a few select individuals. Those students are as followed – Laurence Snow, Dúyè, Muse, Hive, Ichiro Ogura and Cleo Gardenia. Those whose names I’ve mentioned will speak with me and Mr. Kurayami shortly, in private. You will be briefed then on what it entails, and we will prepare you for this task soon enough. However, all I ask is that you remain seated for now until we are ready to speak with you. As I must ensure the remaining students are set with their task first." Memphis gave Midora a quick glance, as he revealed his chosen students and even added another one to the bunch – but the demon knew what he was doing. He had thought about it, and stuck with his decision.

Readjusting himself, the demon clasped his hands together as he addressed the other half of the class – meaning those who were not part of the special mission. "You remaining five – Kou, Ruzik, Etelka, Liliane and Bugby will be partaking in a different task. Though soon there is to be six of you once our newest student arrives, I’m sure both Kou and Ruzik have been informed of their new mage – Lapidus?" Glancing to the door, the red-haired demon began to wonder when his newest arrival would actually arrive. He had told the boy to be there early but clearly that had not happened, but he was sure the mage would appear soon enough. Quickly though he returned his attention o the students. "As I was saying. You all will be undergoing a knock-down challenge and will be split into two groups - the first person from each group to knock-down both their teammates will earn a special reward of their choice. I believe this to be quite a fun game, especially when grouped with those you are not entirely familiar with."

Walking closer the Headmaster looked to the individual students who he was talking to, eyeing them up as he thought. "Group 1 will be Bugby, Etelka and Liliane. Meaning Group 2 will be of Kou, Ruzik and Lapidus." Giving a slight nod the demon walked back over to his desk and rested against its side as he addressed the students. "That is all. Those who are doing the knock-down challenge should make their way outside to the training area to begin." He said and pointed to the door. "It’s a simple game, the aim is to knock both your opponents down - however you are only allowed to hit each person once. If you fail to knock them over with that one hit then you lose and will be disqualified - in turn giving a point to your opponents. But by all means use your abilities to their best and avoid getting hit for as long as you can - those who do not have any powers currently will have to adapt. Think wisely, move quickly and do your best. Oh, and best remember – any form of cheating or lack of participating will result in punishment, both you and your partners." Looking away he turned to the others, " And those who aren’t, as said, should stay seated."

Moving once more, Memphis walked over to Miss Rayne and spoke to her quietly. "If you could, I would like you to keep an eye on Group 1 and ensure no trouble arises. Just make sure no cheating goes on, you know. I will send Mr. Akigawa to keep watch of Group 2 when he arrives." With a nod he turned and returned to his desk, sitting on it this time as he dismissed those five students. Motioning with a hand he also beckoned for Midora to come over beside him.

Memphis briefly pondered over what the horned-girl had said to him and more so as to how he should approach the talisman. He had said he’d help and try to remove it though as to how he would the demon was unsure. Regardless, it was something he’d deal with more properly after the briefing when he could focus on it more, and maybe find some sort of solution to aid the girl. During this time he noticed that the other students had left the room now, so the chosen students were by themselves.

His thoughts were distracted by another voice, the barer being Hive who had appeared in the class. Looking to him the Headmaster raised a questioning brow initially, though his expression settled and the redhead took a few steps closer to the individual. "Don’t be so dramatic, and anyway you will find out shortly if you can contain your… excitement." Spinning round the demon sat himself on the edge of an unused desk, crossing his arms over as he perched one foot over the other and looked to Midora. "Mr. Kurayami, if you would begin the briefing seeing as we are alone now." Giving the mage a nod the demon silenced himself, awaiting for the briefing to begin.

Ruzik R.

Image

Ruzik listened as the girl spoke and explained her feelings to him, though his expression failed to alter into a more fitting one like it should have as the incubus failed to see what the big deal was. Rolling his eyes a little the redhead continued to listen, believing that at least he was doing something good by hearing her words through to the end.

However Ruzik wasn’t stupid, he knew his actions hurt Kou and that his lifestyle was not to her liking. But the incubus had the tendency of ignoring these issues for the sake of not weighting himself down with this burden. No, he was too free to be tied down to such things as feelings and rules when it came to a relationship. He had never really understood the whole commitment that came with two people, though granted despite wherever or whoever he went to, the incubus always returned to the rabbit in the end.

”It’s always about how you feel, isn’t it. That’s all that ever matters. He muttered quietly and rolled his eyes, as that was the only thing he had kept hearing from Kou. Her feelings. How the incubus had hurt her, whatever he did it always was wrong, and how everything seemed to affect her. Blah, blah, blah. Perhaps that was the problem – feelings. Ruzik was never good with them even though he was very emotional, just never in a good way. His feelings for Kou were chaotic at best, muddled even which often put the redhead off from approaching her for certain things. He couldn’t get that close to someone who’s presence caused his heart so much confusion - it put him off, so strangers were often preferred over the girl.

Kou had accepted is offer which pleased the demon, especially when Kou stated that the incubus could do whatever he pleased with her. It was like the best thing ever and he wanted to win, more so as he didn’t fancy apologizing either. ”Apologize? Pfft, whatever. Though you’re going to be disappointed as I don’t plan to lose to you, rabbit.” He’d apologized many times before so why this would be any different he didn’t know, such a thing rolled off his tongue just as easily as saying he loved someone. He rarely meant it.

Their mage appeared at that moment, though this time he had a tail which really surprised Ruzik. Ignoring it for now the incubus looked to the boy, who clearly was nice enough and looking forward to their challenge. Before he could say anything however the rabbit was already over and hugging the boy, getting too close for a certain incubus’s comfort. The girl had given him a glance which only confirmed the unpleasant thoughts in his head. It was like with Ichiro only this time with their mage - which Ruzik had only just really thought about, as the mage was indeed a boy. If it had been a girl then Ruzik would have felt more at ease however the sudden addition of another male only caused him – amazingly – some anxiety. Or was it jealousy?

”Whoa, whoa! Enough of that!” Scrambling upwards he stood between the two once the rabbit had released the boy, shooting a disapproving look to Kou before eying up Lapidus. Ruzik didn’t like the thought of having competition within their group though the boy was hardly a threat, not yet at least. ”Ok, so you’re new and everything but there is one rule in this group that must be obeyed at all times. Which is simple - that thing over there is not for touching.” As he spoke Ruzik pointed to Kou, as she was that thing which should not be touched at least not by anyone other than himself. ”Anyway let’s stop wasting time and get this show on the road – I have a reward to claim once my victory has been achieved. So let’s go!”

Raising his hand forward Ruzik attempted to summon forth his weapon of choice, though due to momentarily forgetting the talisman that had been placed on him the incubus then realized that his abilities were still sealed. Not wishing to show this the demon tried to laugh it off and dropped his arm to his side, hoping that none of his teammates had noticed his disadvantage before taking a few steps back as he pondered his next course of action. Though as to how he’d win without his abilities was beyond him. As long as they didn't notice his hesitance to attack he should be good, right? Maybe he could bluff his way out of it, or at the very least just try to not fall over.

”Bring it on Lapidus, let’s see if you have what it takes to be my mage,” Cocky as ever the incubus then looked to Kou with a wide sharky-grin. ”Oh, and just try not to lose consciousness this time, bunny.” Raising his hands in front of him Ruzik motioned for the pair to approach him – surely the demon would be strong enough to with take their hits, he was Ruzik after all. Nobody could beat him.

Mikari stood still with his hand on his hip, clearly show a hint of displeasure when he heard their boss mention about his group this morning. Pfft. He sheepishly thought but quickly returned to his normal calmness. It is true that he has responsibility for what his students did. But seriously, can things just go on without any hints of sarcasm in them? It is his job, anyway. Mikari has made sure that he'll never make the same mistake twice and he will make those little trouble-makers know that he might be easy-going at times, but when taking things seriously, Mikari showed no mercy to anyone. Cold, justifiable and merciless when judging are traits that formed a Dark Mage, after all.

"Got it. I'll make sure to kick them out as soon as I felt even the slightest hint of bloodlust." Mikari briskly nodded as he turned his back and made his way out to the training ground. Midora just quietly sighed as he watched his best friend walking. He knows him better than anyone and if there's anything that anybody shouldn't reckon with is Mikari's pride. Sometimes whatever schemes Mikari is holding really did intimidate him a bit. Quickly shook his head, he turned his attention back to his boss as he suggested that they should have some sort of private discussion about the upcoming mission.

Midora nodded, "That's not a problem, boss. I will come to our Office and we can talk that out after my meeting with Laurence." He said then turned his attention back to the students. He couldn't help but feel that Hive is still keeping an eye on him. Maybe not just because that the Demon was having a grudge for him, but also for the Demon's idiotic curiosity. The Dark Seal that he has placed on his chamber's entrance is his seal, after all, so he knows whether if someone or something touched it or not. And he wasn't so surprised when he found a couple of bugs trying to pass through. Midora sighed. He just doesn't learn his lesson, does he? But he figures that he shouldn't take any actions unless he really has to. Although Hive wasn't on his watch, this might be a good chance to test how determinate and patient can the Demon be.

After all the students tasked with the afternoon session has moved out of the classroom, leaving the remaining students who were assigned with the mission, Memphis turned to Midora, "Mr. Kurayami, if you would begin the briefing seeing as we are alone now." Midora nodded back in response and cleared his throat to gained the students' attention. "Listen, please. I will begin to explain about our mission now and I hope that everyone will pay close attention. Rather than calling this a mission, you should consider this as an outdoor exercise more, as you all will have a chance to experience real combat with real monster, so that we can see how you'll co-operate with each other and learn more about the ways you put your abilities in good uses. Have you understand?"

Midora paused a bit to let his words sink in before going on explaining about the concepts of the Celestial Nexus, the Windows, the unearthly creatures that emerge from them and the reason why the Department has given them this mission. Midora knows that deep down inside some of them won't really take this things serious, but both he and the Headmaster shall see how they take the monsters on as this is no playing around like the sessions before. Most of them even don't have a chance to show their true potentials yet since this morning so this is a good chance for them to make their judgement.

"...As I said, you all can rest assure that the monsters in which you're going to deal are suitable with your current strengths right now. But it doesn't mean that it's going to be too easy either. They can attack you, they can inflict wounds on you and some could even outnumbered you if you underestimate them. Remind you that there's still a considerable amount of them there - about more than 45 in numbers, varies in different types with different levels ranging from D to B+. So a piece of advice I want to give is trying to co-operate and finish them off as quickly as you can without wasting much energy. And one more thing is, all of you mustn't get too close to the Window itself, the closest range you can get is about 15 meters. If you get closer than that, all of your energy will be absorbed and of course you will breakdown soon enough."

Midora then fixed his gaze upon Laurence, gaining the boy's attention, "Only Mages with either Dark, Light or Ether element can seal the Window so this task will be given to you, Laurence. So, after this meeting, please meet me in private so that I can teach you the incantation of Window Covering and give you some more advice about what you have to do." Then he turned his eyes back to the whole classroom, "When you all have managed to defeat all the monsters and seal the Window, an ultra-class monster, or should I say the last boss will appear. Me and the Headmaster will personally deal with it if there aren't going to be any backups from the higher-ups. And trust me, some of the ultra-class creatures I've just mentioned can give a well-trained combatant a hard time. Which is why to avoid any further unnecessary injuries, I want you all to step back and try not to gain their attention while we deal with it."

He then crossed his arms as his gaze turned somewhat more stern, "Me and the Headmaster will watch your performances closely and intervene should any problems happen. If all of you strictly follow the rules that we had set, showing good signs of managing your energy and abilities, as well as perfect co-operation with each other then you will be rewarded. However, any actions or attempts that could prove dangerous to yourself and your companions will not be tolerate. We will leave tonight at 10:00 PM. After hearing the tune that I will play to inform you, gather at the entrance and the two of us will take you to the place where the Window situated. That is all this mission is about." With that said, Midora turned to Memphis and asked quietly, "Do you have any other reminders?"

Meanwhile, Mikari has managed to make his way outside of the training ground and see that the two males of his group are already clashing. He sighed as he approached, raised his arms towards them and telekinetically restraining their moves from whatever they're doing, "Sorry for interrupt your little quarrel, but just a friendly reminder before you continue." Mikari said as he tilted his head with a light-hearted smile, "If I sense that any of you starting to have even the slightest of killing intent, I will have to interrupt again and you'll immediately disqualified. I cannot allow what happened this morning to happen again and surely none of you wanted to suffer. Got it?" Then he turned to Kou, "The same also goes to you, Kou-san."

With that said, Mikari flipped and set the two boys free then turned his back and walked to the bench where Ms. Sarah was sitting. He gracefully sat down on it and crossed his legs, began to watch the students.

Hive

“Kekeke, outnumber us.” Hive chuckled to himself, as he shook his head. Hive consisted out of thousands of insects after all. Though of course, none of them individually had the strength of sixty-five monsters. At least this kind of assignment was familiar to Hive, elimination missions were common under Ervin. Better yet... This was a mission outside the barrier. And even Cleo was there with him. It looked like all his schemes to enter the sealed room, have Liliane or Bugby nullify the barrier around the academy, or even use Ichiro to his advantage could take a back seat. This was a window of opportunity... Although there was one little insurance Hive would create.

“Another dark mage?” The demon had gotten up and spoke to Laurence. “Are you not lucky? You will be taught what we tried to figure out past afternoon.” He said, as he placed a hand on the boy's shoulder. There would be a short cold sensation of a fraction of a second, though it would quickly be replaced by a seemingly jovial tap. “This place keeps many secrets from us, you know? We are so jealous...”

Hive parted ways with Laurence and headed over to Ichiro and Cleo. “It seems we have no choice but to hang out now,” Hive jested playfully, as he put a hand on top of Cleo's head. “And it looks like another parlour just opened up for you, hasn't it, Ichiro?” He slyly suggested the blond mage. He leaned in a little closer to the boy and whispered, “You heard them, they say this isn't a game... But we are willing to bet we can take more down than you can, mister gambling man.” Hive leaned back and grinned smugly. There was only one way the mage could respond to that...
