The Wanderers

The Wanderers

0 INK

Surviving in post-apocalyptia can be hard...especially when you have a job to do.

1,057 readers have visited The Wanderers since Crystal Flamedance created it.

Introduction

War. It has plagued us all from the very beginning. And, as usual, we have all taken it to extremes. Nuclear weapons soon entered the war; it is long forgotten what caused the war, or even who it was between. Rumors are the war itself started between two countries that were once financially powerful…and the war was over control over the planet itself. Whether or not that was true, however, remains to be seen, and is of little concern now.

Now we have other things to worry about: such as the NCR. Our job, whether or not we want to take it, is to infiltrate the NCR, and to destroy them. That is what is in our contract, and so that is what we must do. Well, that’s why you have to go up against the NCR. Me...I’m a part of the Legion, who gave you the contract in the first place. Yes, I’ll be coming along, but don’t get suspicious. I’m only coming along to help, and make sure you don’t get too distracted from your mission; that’s all. There’s absolutely no other reason for me to come along; nope, none at all.

Anyway, we should be off. Here’s the note with the information. Who’s going to carry it? Ah, never mind. You all can read through it once, and then I’ll carry it myself. I need something to do, anyway. Now, I don’t know exactly where we’re going, so here’s the map. All I know is we’re here…and we need to be…here. Yes, it’s a long journey, but it’ll be fun! Sure, there’s a lot of radiation, and a lot of mutated creatures, and of course there’ll be all those NCR soldiers to worry about, but what would be the problem? You’re a practiced fighter, right? Already spent plenty of time surviving these wastes, that’s for sure. A few fights here and there won’t be a problem, will it?

This is a post-apocalyptic rp, not one for magic users and mystical creatures. We’re all humans here. And remember, you can only carry so much. After all, we can’t have you wandering around…carrying enough supplies for an army. Death, injuries, lameness are all real in this rp; just like you can be mutated. These mutations should be limited, though; something like an extra limb, or whatever. Oh, and you will have to keep track of how much ammo your weapon can use; you do have to reload at some point, you know. And you can’t have an unlimited supply of ammo in your pack.

Arlayna sighed to herself, glancing around, then back down at the note. She had already read it several times before, and now only read it over again through boredom. There were others supposed to be meeting her here, others that were supposed to be travelling with her and her partner on this mission. She could never remember how many, nor would she try to. All she needed to know was they were supposed to work as a team. She wasn't too sure how that would work; she tended to irritate others. That was why she had been sent out on this mission, she knew; to get her out of their hair, if only for a little while.

Another reason for the outfit; the fact that it did show so much skin was only partly for movement, but also to hopefully placate any male members that might be against her joining them. She shook her head, looking up and around again. Had she just heard something? Someone coming, hopefully? Standing there was getting really dull, and she wanted to be on the move already. But where was Owen? Surely he didn't expect her to greet the newcomers without him there?

But, seeing as he wasn't quite there yet, she would be left to greet the others on her own. That was going to be a bit of a problem. She glanced around again. Anyone that saw her might notice, well, more like should have been able to notice, that she was anxious, uneasy, or nervous. The fact was, she didn't know what she would do with all these new people. She knew the people she had grown up with; all the others in the Legion's base that she had grown up in. Why she was so anxious, she wasn't sure. All she knew about these people was that they had to take care of the NCR...or, at least, were supposed to be helping take out the NCR. She shifted uncomfortably, looking down again at the note. Where were these people?

Storm hobbled up the hill following the legionary soldier. He had been allowed to return to his tent to gather his things, which included his switchblade, coat, medical supplies, a few parts to repair his still damaged right arm, and self-made hunting rifle, which he had hidden under his duster just in case things got ugly. They reached the top of the hill, and squinting his eyes against the bright mid-day sun he made out a female figure. She was quite... No... Very good looking, with long flowing red hair that reached her knees, and lightly tanned skin, and better yet, she didn't appear to be wearing standard legion uniform. Dark blue hot-pants and a tank top definitely wouldn't work on ninety percent of the other legionaries.
'Maybe she's not from around here...' He thought to himself hopefully. She seemed a little agitated, as if she was expecting someone who should have been here a while ago.
The legionary approached her, "Ave Ma'm, I have brought one of the members of your team, the slave who defeated Salararius Silvanus. Keep an eye on him, he has a record of impertinent behavior."
Storm's heart sunk when he heard the man address her, 'Maybe she is from around here then...'
The legionary the turned and strode away, leaving Storm alone on the hill with the woman. He stood there, wind picking at the bottom of his coat, waiting to be addressed by this new companion of his.

Jackie Paisley walked slowly behind a legion soldier in her combat rig, her guns settled at her sides, and the blade in the small of her lower back comfortably. Her lavender hair which was trimmed short at the top and left a very long tail in the back to hide the blade partly, swished to and fro as she walked. It made for a strange feminine appearance. However she didn't give one hoot nor care about what other people thought but it seemed to make her feel better that most of the looks she got were returned with a fierce glare. As for the soldier, she could tell that she made him nervous. After all she had tried to shoot him. What did you expect when you were trying to mess with a hunter that just finished a mission? When she had heard the door to her condo ring she hadn't gone to open it too quickly. Had no intention of answering really, specially when she hadn't told anyone her location. Finally the guy had unlocked the door but she held him at gunpoint and had it ready to shoot dead center. Of course his reaction was to pull his own weapon but she had quickly made sure he wouldn't be doing any of the sort. After a few minutes of struggle they had come to a compromise. Wonder if his hand hurts now? She thought with dry mirth while her gaze watched his tense shuffle towards the meeting point.

The soldier stopped near a group of people but she had already analyzed the situation upon coming near. The one that caught her attention was the pretty female. Jackie had her own athletic but curved figure and most could tell because the combat rig hugged her body like a second skin. However, it was the fidgeting and the nervous antics that made her wanna keep the female in sight. Edgy people like herself made for gun happy people. Always ready to pull a trigger at some point. She blew out a soft breath to calm her nerves. Getting suspicious now wouldn't help for teamwork later. She gave the man a glance before scanning him for weapons. After a satisfied check she settled down and approached carefully, coming in at an angle that would leave both of the team in her sight. Her back to a wall of a sort.

The soldier addressed the female softly before shooting Jackie with a glare. "Here's the member for your team. I hope you'll enjoy her as much as I have." His sarcasm shone through and lit a savage smile on Jackie's face. As the soldier left she gave a nod to the two remaining. "I'm Jackie Paisley. Pleased to make your acquaintance. I hope." She murmured before waiting for introductions. From the way it looked when she had come in, no one had spoken yet.

"Will you let go of me!? Come on guys, I'm not going to run away again, I swear!" Two legion soldiers held Luke, one on each of his arms. After the second time he tried to escape, they'd lost their patience with him and had begun to "escort him forcefully" to their destination, which was just a fancy way to report dragging someone so that they didn't get in trouble with their superiors.

The land was barren, thus the people standing on the hill were easy to see. As they approached, Luke eyed the three figures suspiciously. Two women who looked more ready to go to a club than on a life-threatening journey, and ragged man. "This is my team?" he thought to himself. The men through him roughly toward them, gave him a "you damn well better not try anything sneaky" glare, and left.

"Real friendly bunch of guys," he said, gesturing at them with his head as they walked back down the dusty hill. "So what've we got here?" he grabbed the letter from Arlayna and started to read it, then handed it back as he found it just reiterated what the Legion soldiers had already told him. "I'm Luke by the way." He smiled slightly and winked, then held his hand out to no one in particular.

Storm nodded to the two newcomers who had introduced themselves, and simply replied with his name, "Sundström..."
He studied the new members of his team. One of them was a woman. She was dressed in a skintight combat getup with a knife and duel pistols, with lavender hair to her waist, and heterochromia. The other new comer was a thin blonde pretty-boy who looked more like he was lost on the set of a photoshoot than joining a band of mercs and soldiers (and a slave) on a life or death mission.
'Great, at this rate we'll end up looking more like a festival parade than a squad of... well... whatever we're meant to be a squad of!' Storm thought snarkily to himself, wondering what sort of skill-sets these two would be bringing to the table.

Arlayna barely looked up when the others were escorted to her; one of them being dragged, too. She shuffled her feet alightly, wishing that Owen would get there soon; she couldn't handle so many strangers at once. She glanced over the three that had joined her, nodding slightly to the three of them. Quietly, she held out the map she had been told to carry, too. She waited for any of them to notice, then pointed to a location on the map; one that was a good distance from where they were, with mountains in their way and an ocean on the other side. "This is where we're going..." she said, shyly, uncomfortable around so many strangers. She hoped this was all of their group; she didn't want to try talking to them again. She had been warned before that she might be dealing with people that were dangerous, and she didn't want to get on their nerves before she even started talking with them.

She took note of the names that the other three gave, but only to put names with faces. She was used to her partner introducing her, rather than introducing herself personally. "...I'm only told it would take a long time to get there...they wouldn't give me anything more specific than that..." She shuffled her feet again, nervously, and glanced around again, looking for her partner. Where was he? She didn't want to end up travelling with these people on their own! She didn't know them, didn't know whether or not she could trust them, didn't know if they were going to cause trouble or not, and certainly didn't now whether or not they could handle her; that was why she had been sent in the first pace, the Legion was having a hard time handling her. "Nothing other than orders to take out the NCR..."

Storm coughed, then asked, "Is that it?"
No specifics about where they were going? No access to equipment? No real plan? And this woman as the commander of an apparent four person squad? Storm knew that the legion didn't have the greatest tactical minds in history, but seriously? Was this just a way they had to get rid of under preforming troops and overconfident bounty hunters? They'd managed to turn this suicide mission into a true to the 't' death sentence!
None of Storm's exasperation, irritation, and fright showed on his face though, he looked the same as always, a disdainful scowl permanently etched into his face, waiting... hoping for some kind of response.

"FOR THE LAST TIME, STOP TRYING TO ESCORT ME!" A voice roared from a short distance away, followed by the 'oomph!' of someone being hit in the gut. What appeared to be a man in NCR ranger combat armor walked up, which may have been confusing to any legionary than those who knew him, since he was in fact a legionary, but had NCR armor. The man had no escort, so it was easy to guess what had happened.

"Arlayna." The man said as he approached the group, turning towards Arlayna. "Is this everyone, or are we expecting more?" He took a quick look around the small group, and let out a sigh. "For those of you who don't know, I'm Owen. I'm an expert gunslinger for the Legion, so don't try anything stupid." It was impossible to tell if Owen had any emotion on his face, due to his armor hiding his face. There was a good reason that his entire body was hidden under his armor, but he wasn't about to disclose that with anyone.

"Weapons and Armor will be administered upon leaving the Legion encampment." He waited for a moment, taking another glance around the small group, then the surrounding area. This must be the entire group.. "We leave momentarily. If you have anything to sort out before departure, you may do so now. Meet back here when you're done." He then faced away, as though he didn't care what they said next.

(Yes, he's a jerk. :D)

Arlayna shuffled her feet a little as Storm asked his question. "...That's all I know...Owen should know more...I think, anyway..." she mumbled, glancing around again, nervously, hoping Owen would finally show himself. If this was some kind of game, she didn't like it too much. This was beyond irritating, and she didn't know how she was supposed to deal with these four if he didn't show up soon. She glanced back towards where she had come from, where she knew the Legion base was, even though it was too far for her to really see.

She looked up as she heard a familiar voice yelling, and turned back again to see him approaching. 'About time!' she thought, shooting him a little pout. "...I think this is everyone. No one else has approached in a while, so I'm assuming this is everyone," she answered, her nervousness and anxiety suddenly gone. She hesitated, glancing to where he had come from, then back to him. "...Why didn't you allow the escort? It's not like they'd have been following you around all the time...just long enough to get here." She hadn't had any problems with her own escort, but that was because she had known the person for a while, and so he had known how to deal with her personality, just like Owen did.

"So to summarize," Luke thought as he let his hand drop and the hulking, armored soldier approached, "we've got two muttering women, a grump, and an apparent psychopath in need of anger management. Great." He was aware he hadn't been put on this mission necessarily for his skills, but he had thought that at least one other person might seem moderately normal.

"Hey Owen," Luke called over to the man in full body armor. "How long is 'momentarily'? And might you perhaps be able to show me to a mailbox?" He really didn't want to talk to the man, but between him and the others he seemed to be the only one who (possibly) would and could help him. The girl he called Arlayna seemed far too nervous, and the other two were simply unapproachable. At least this guy could manage more than a few words. And he had a certain air about him; this guy seemed to be a leader, or someone who at least knows what the hell is going on.

He started to approach Owen, assuming he'd get an answer soon enough. He looked over the heavy armor cautiously and slowed his step. "Wonder what he's hiding under there anyway... I'll bet he's mutated."

"Excuse me," he repeated, just a step or two away from the man's back.

Jackie simply watched the ensuing progress the group. What great progress it was seeming how no one liked the other and all of them pretty much thought the same thing about each other from their stances. Untrustworthy as hell! She resisted the urge to giggle and crossed her arms over her chest, feeling the suit give in to her movement easily. Her eyes roamed over the others trying to analyze and probe their expressions and what skill sets they would bring to the table. Overall, she liked two people out of the group. One of them because he was similar to her. Paranoid and merciless. What was his name? She racked her brain trying to figure out how to pronounce the name before settling on her own translation. Weird names these days. Storm. Even as unapproachable as he was he made her feel slightly more comfortable with going on this mission. Someone with more combat and practical sense under his belt. The other was the recent soldier Owen. Even though his suit unnerved her she could deal with that fact as long as he didn't make any funny moves. Both of them made the trip a hell of a lot more interesting. The girl however was something else. Nervous then suddenly calm and level headed.

She finally let her gaze skid over to Luke. Out of all the males he looked like a model. He would have been gorgeous for the fact that she had seen some pretty people get mean really quickly. Her expression stressed before relaxing as the thought faded away. She had to wonder if he really had combat skills but nonetheless he wouldn't have been chosen otherwise right? She pursed her lips hoping she was right. She watched him approach Owen and figured it was time she get friendly with somebody before they end up wishing they would have shot her on sight and she decided to start with the female. Maybe if she got to know her she would be more easy around her. She turned slightly towards the woman and uncrossed her arms letting her stance relax.

"Do you have anything you would like to do before departure? I have most of my materials and I can fetch the rest in a second." She paused then spoke again obviously unused to speaking to people fondly. "I don't wanna intrude or anything but I figure I'll have to make friends with the team eventually. So why not now? Right?" She hoped she hadn't come off the wrong way because this was making a really big effort. Specially when she could feel her hand cramp to move towards her blade just for the comfort of having it ready to draw.

Arlayna glanced back as the other female approached her, talking with her. She paused, debating briefly, before shaking her head. "There's nothing I need to do; nothing that I would have to do. Everything's usually done for me...I don't know that the people there trust me..." She knew why they didn't let her do anything for herself; the fact was, she wasn't exactly stable enough to do anything without finding some way to goof it up. That was why they didn't trust her, and so she wasn't really lying, so she didn't feel too bad about it. She shrugged. "Part of the reason they wanted to get rid of me, I guess." She shrugged again, then realized that that had been far from the question the other woman had asked.

Absently, she glanced back at Owen, then back to the other woman. What had she introduced herself as? ...Jackie, that was right, she knew. Her memory was never that bad to begin with; but more than one name at once to put with a face, and then trying to remember which face went with which name, was the hard part. She shrugged. "But no, I have nothing to do. Which probably means standing here being bored until everyone else is ready to go." She held in her sigh, not wanting to irritate the woman so soon after meeting.

On his name being called, Owen only made recognition of it without showing that he had acknowledged it. After being asked a question, he let out a small sigh, and waited. When Luke said 'excuse me,' then Owen reacted, turning around and saying, "'Momentarily' is when I feel good and ready. Also, we don't have a mail 'box,' but we do have a mail 'bag.' He pointed to a nearby tent, saying, "The mail bag is in there, and please do attempt to be quick. We are to be leaving as soon as possible."

With that, Owen turned back around and stepped forward twice, distancing himself from Luke. He stood for a moment before turning left, drawing his magnum, taking aim, and blasting a target dummy directly in the center of its heart. He holstered his magnum, then turned back to his team. "Just making sure my aim is steady, in case any of you try something." How reasurring for the rest of them.

Under the armor, part of him felt like he shouldn't be so rude or hostile. Part of him wanted to make friends with his teammates. Unfortunately, his exterior attitude said otherwise. His exterior said to be hostile, and assert yourself so they know who's in charge. "...I'll be right back." He said, then striding off to a tent, which had a flap to act as a door. He entered the tent and took off his helmet, then took a seat on a chair that was set up with a table. He shook his hair out a bit and took a few deep breaths, trying to relax for a moment before getting serious again.

Jackie stared at the girl. Get rid of? Everything is done for you by others? W-what the hell? She thought with shock. If she had so much as said one word close to that entire sentence she would have been shamed to her entire family. And then some! Her expression turned back to being savage at the edges, her lips raising slightly in a growl of anger. And no one in the right mind is going to get rid of me! I won't die on this mission. Not now. Not ever! Anyone who thinks so can screw themselves! She stayed that way for a count of five seconds as she mentally growled. She snapped out of it when a certain gunshot made her hand immediately go for the gun on her right side, slipping it out of the holster smoothly and taking off the safety. The only reason she didn't fire was because she caught herself just in time and cocked the gun forward to keep it trained on the ground. Her teeth grinded as she slowly put the weapon back in it's place returning it back to the previous status quote. Safe and sound. She glared at the receding figure of Owen before she took a step back and returned her gaze to Arlayna. "You guys-" She hesitated trying to come up with words that wouldn't make someone think she was about to attack them "-give me a lot of twitches. I don't like it. At all." It was the best she could come up when the original sentence had said 'Make me wanna shoot someone.'

"By the way. Where are we resting round here. I don't know when that pansy of a partner you have is going to have us up and leave. From what I heard, he said it's when he wants too." She gestured towards where Luke was left standing. "Hostile freaks. Can't be a little nicer sometimes and maybe loosen up? I got a lot of stress right now and that is so not helping." She was glaring in the direction of the tent by the end of that sentence before she glanced back to Arlayna and took a shallow breath. "Oh, um, don't let my words offend you. I talk to everyone like that really." She murmured so only the girl could hear.

Her left hand raised to rub at the nape of her neck in embarrassment. Are you really trying to be friendly here? Good try Paisley. You have a long way to go. A voice in the back of her mind whispered. Shut up! I don't need your flapping opinion. She let out a sigh as her internal angel and demon seemed to battle it out. "I need a break. Food would be nice and I don't even care what kind." Her shoulders slumped in resignation but her angry expression remained. You really couldn't wipe off an expression that had been there for as long as a girl could remember.

After receiving the less than friendly answer from Owen, Luke started toward the tent he'd pointed to, only to stop and nearly jump into the air at the sound of a gunshot. "Son of a..." he thought to himself, holding his hand to his chest as his heart beat heavily against it. He turned angrily in the direction of tent Owen walked into, "Well, I guess we'll be here awhile, huh? I can't imagine you feeling 'good' any time soon!" Sure it was lame, but it was the best he could think of with his heart racing so quickly. He stalked of toward the tent, muttering under his breath about mailboxes and bags.

Lifting the flap, he entered the tent and removed a previously addressed letter from inside his shirt. He stuffed $50 into it and shoved it into the bag.

He stepped back out of the tent and hurried back over to the group, wanting to avoid any further conflict due to tardiness. He found the two women talking and the rugged looking man still standing quietly alone. Luke looked the man over and decided it was at least worth a shot. He approached him with a smile and a friendly, "Hey... uh... Sandstorm. How's it goin'?"

"Hmmph...." Storm grunted at the man, sitting down to begin repairs on his mechanical arm. Sadly that wasn't enough of an answer to satisfy Luke, as Storm saw him still standing there waiting for an answer out of the corner of his eye.
"Things have been better..." He settled with, hoping this would satisfy the blonde haired man.

Arlayna tilted her head to one side curiously as Jackie seemed to go into something of a rage; that or a state of surprised, reaching for her own pistol like that when Owen was just testing his own gun. Sure, the sound had made her twitch, but she wasn't about to reach for the pistol when she couldn't see a threat. Her hand did reach around to her back to touch the tip of the scabbard she kept on her back, more comforted by the blade than her pistol. She glanced at Owen as he left, then to the other two men, then back to Jackie as she mumbled quietly; she could barely hear her herself.

"...Lots of people in the Legion talk like that, too; something you get used to," she said with a little shrug. Then she glanced around as she mentioned a break. "...I'm not supposed to be carrying the food; maybe that's what Owen went to get. I didn't see that he was carrying anything before...I kinda want a snack, too, but Owen said before I'd have to wait until we got going." She had been a little upset when she found out she wasn't going to be able to have her snacks when she waned them, but they said it was all for the best. She shrugged at the thought, then glanced back at Jackie, who still looked upset. She eased herself to the ground to sit as she waited for Owen to come back. She was debating internally for a while, then looked back at Jackie. "What do you mean, give you a lot of twitches?" She had never heard that phrase before and, had she not lacked the mental capacity to think it through, she might not have had to ask.

Owen sat in his chair in the tent, just thinking, mostly about how difficult it was to be mean. It's for the best. Have to keep myself asserted. He thought to himself.

After a quick adjusting of his hair, Owen stuck his helmet back on and stood, then walked to the tent flap. He let out a sigh and shook it out a bit, ready to be serious again. He pushed the tent flap open and walked outside, making sure that his helmet was secured. He walked back to the group and glanced around, noting that everyone was standing there. He turned and waved to a passing Legionary, but it wasn't just a friendly gesture. The Legionary ran off and ran back with a large sack, and handed it to Owen. He set it on the ground and opened it, so everyone could see it was filled with refreshments. "This is what we have as far as refreshments for the trip. We will stop in nearby towns if we need more, so we do not need to worry about running out of supplies. If you are hungry or thirsty, take some now." He would have said something a little more hostile, but he couldn't come up with anything.

Owen walked away from the group and towards the gate, then turned back to the group and said, "We leave immediately." He let the group take refreshments from the bag if they needed any, then grabbed the bag, sealed it up, and slung it over his shoulder. "Let's go." He walked towards the gate and signaled the gatekeeper to open it, and it shortly did. He then walked out of the gate, not even bothering to check if anyone was following.

Jackie watched her surroundings for a while, listening to the girl speak. It was rather discomforting to know that most of the mission would be led by a hostile male who wouldn't tell his team where and what they could do. Food? Oh I don't know. Maybe later. Screw that. She turned her mind away from the thought as she heard the girl ask a question. It took a moment for her to catch up with the conversation but nonetheless when she did a smile appeared. Mischievous amusement plain on her face, softening her usually angry features. "Ah." She couldn't help the throaty chuckle that cut of her sentence. "It means that you guys make me wanna go for my weapons alot." She wondered if the girl would understand why but decided to explain a bit more. "You see, when you hunt for criminals they're also hunting for you. It's an instinct to reach for my weapon when something seems off. Even the slightest of sounds can determine whether your about to get shot or not." She gestured towards Owen's tent. "When he shot his gun I hadn't been paying attention to where and who. Made me kind of freak out for a moment." She grimaced slightly before shifting on her heels to return to a comfortable position.

She glanced over her shoulder to watch the two boys in the group conversate. They were getting along just like a team should once they made the effort. You didn't give much of an effort Jackie. Once again she silenced that small internal voice. Jackie let out a silent sigh and rolled one shoulder as if it was cramping. Standing here doing nothing but chatting was wearing down on her. She was never the social type anyways and having people surround her wasn't helping her nerves. After all she nothing less than nerves made of jello. She only got close to steel when she had some adrenaline pumping. She kept silent however deciding to keep her complaints to herself.

Arlayna paused as she thought over the explanation. Pulling out a weapon wasn't a problem...was it? Once more, her hand briefly touched the scabbard on her back, then met her other hand in front of herself. She shrugged again. "But it's not like there's anything but Legion within these walls..." she mumbled quietly to herself. When Owen came back, she looked over the bag he dropped on the ground quickly, and tilted her head to one side before approaching it, looking through it quickly. If you didn't move fast enough, you might not get what you wanted, she knew. But, seeing nothing that she did want, she turned away, walking a little ways away before turning to look back over the group.

She noted briefly that they looked like an odd group, and that she barely knew anyone aside from Owen, then shrugged again. "Can't we just hurry up and get this over with?" she asked, somewhat irritated that they hadn't moved yet. She didn't like standing in one sopt for too long, and this was beyond irritating. Then she noticed that Owen had already started wlaking out of the gate. She hesitated only a second, then hurried to catch up, only pausing long enough to look back at those that remained. "Come on, then; we're going!"

Luke quickly tuned Storm out after receiving a grunt for an answer. "We've got a real poet over here, don't we?" he mused. He heard him mutter a complete response, but it was drowned out by Owen's louder, more commanding voice, alerting everyone it was time to go. As the group began to leave, following Arlayna's prompting, he moved on from the man on the ground to Jackie. She seemed to offer the best protection next to Owen, minus the bad attitude. "Some reflexes, ya got there, huh?" he started, quickly closing the distance between them to end up smiling at her side.

He put his hands behind his head and stretched, his unbuttoned shirt sliding back to reveal his chest. The afternoon was settling in and Luke was starting to get hot. He wasn't used to actually seeing the sun on a regular basis, and the city he lived in was generally much cooler thanks to the shade of the buildings and the way the narrow streets carried the breeze. He couldn't deny he rather enjoyed this weather, though. The air still had a certain stench to it, an obvious effect of what was essentially a nuclear holocaust, but not nearly as bad as in the city where he could nearly taste it. He took a deep breath, let his hands fall back to his sides, and turned his attention back to Jackie. "So am I the only one who has no idea what we're doing or where we're going? We're just following 'Happy'," he gestured with his head at Owen, "over there, huh? Some freaking plan. I totally trust that guy..." He rolled his eyes and started after the two who had already departed, half turned to see if the woman would follow.

Jackie watched Arlayna shuffle through the bag before giving up on whatever was in it. She stepped forward and peered into the bag cautiously. Her gaze caught the figure of a grain bar and figured that would have to be enough. She huffed out a sharp exhale to show her displeased position but otherwise kept from snapping again while she picked up the bar and began nibbling on it. She turned hearing Arlayna call to them, already halfway to the gate. "One minute your relaxing in your damn tent and the next your running out of the camp yelling orders at us. Yeah, your definitely so not insane." Sarcasm dripped from her words as she began following them.

When Luke approached she scowled up and over at him. He was taller in stature and would have made her think him pretty if not for the fact that she wanted to keep her life on this mission. Her scowl deepened as he spoke. "Yeah. Certainly. You would have reflexes too if you thought someone was trying to shoot a hole through your head." She chuckled dryly and took another bite from her bland food bar. Her gaze followed Owen's back as her kept ahead of the group. She was growing more irritated by the minute at him, and speed-walking in this heat was making her sweat which made her feel sticky. Hunters preferred the night as a cover. So the sun was practically beating her down but she didn't let it distract her other than the infernal sweating that she would wipe off every few seconds. It was hot in the city too but only warm during the night. Her frustrated mind tuned back in to the conversation and she mentally paused to stare at him as her feet led the way up the path. "We're on a death mission and if we speak about trust I can merely say that I don't trust any of you. Your either all pansies or tough guys who I don't wanna mess with because I want them on my side." Her gaze was sharp and a frown made her eyes narrow. "Don't ask me however, what category you fall in. I haven't decided." She muttered before shaking her head and speeding up her walk. "C'mon we can't fall behind."

Arlayne glanced back, seeing two of them moving, but she didn't see the slave moving. She tilted her head to one side, but shrugged. "Hurry up; I just want to get this over with," she called, then looked to Owen. "I really don't want to be out here long..." she complained, knowing that while it would probably irritate him, he certainly wouldn't punich her for complaining. She had done that too many times before to not know. She glanced back as she heard another make a comment about him being insane, and her head tilted to one side again. "Insane? ...But he's not insane..." She had thought all the rest of the Legionaries had called her insane, and not Owen. Now she was thoroughly confused, but shrugged, turning back to Owen. "How long are we going to be out here, anyway?"

Storm screwed another component into his mechanical arm, and attempted to move his fingers. They moved sluggishly, responding to his will with a lag time of a few seconds, producing a teeth grinding sound as the metal plates slid over each other.
'That'll have to do for the moment... At least untill I find some more parts for my arm... Storm thought as he pulled himself to his feet with his good hand, and began to follow the rest of the group. He caught up with the others then slowed from a jog to a casual stroll, and began to listen in to the other's conversations.

Kidas cursed at himself for takeing so long to get ready. This was mainly caused by the fact that his stealth boy he picked up a week back decided to disappear. This freqeuntly happened from time to time when they got beat up too much. Kidas looked mthrough his supplies makeing sure the rest was there. He slipped them into the individual pockets made for them. Luckily he didnt carry so many items as to cause himself to need to carry a back pack or duffel bag. Kidas bolted out of the legion camp toward a group that was assigned to do some unknown task, unfortunately he was told nothing of the exact location, which was typical seeing as he was to deemed as the leader or anyone of importance to the group which throughly irritated him, or how many enemies they were likely to run into which was a bigger problem. Everyone else could stay at a bit of a distance and gun down the enemy, him on the other hand had to be right on the people to do anything. Kidas cleared these thoughts from his mind as he saw the group. Kidas saw the group about five hundred yards away from the gate. He ran as fast as he could to catch up, his whiskey bottle smacking against his left hip the whole way. Kidas slowed to a walk when he reached about fifty yards from the group. He unsheathed the bo-staff slung on his back, he didn't quite know these people and he had a bad problem with rubbing people the wrong way.

"My apologies for being late." Kidas said when he was about ten foot from Arlayne.

Re: [OOC] The Wanderers

OH GOODNESS, I thought you had died, Icey!!! Welcome back to the land of the living :3

Re: [OOC] The Wanderers

Woah do I have some catching up to do! Sorry guys! I'll be back in this soon!

Re: [OOC] The Wanderers

Lol...that's an original cheer, really. XD But it isn't all my brother and his friends; I really do have writers block, and am having trouble thinking. Even taking a break to play video games didn't help much. -_- I'm trying to think, really, I am. It's just...hard right now.

Re: [OOC] The Wanderers

I can give you a cheer if you'd like. I'll call it.... "The Flame Dance"
Original, eh?

Go! Go! Write dat good prose
if you have to, break your bro's nose!

Hoorah, hoorah! Think think think!
Brain juices flowing, rum to drink

Rah rah! Dis da flamedance dance,
When they post, you'll cream your pants!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TEEEAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMM! 8D

Re: [OOC] The Wanderers

Alright, peoples. I would have posted by now, but writers block mixed with noisy and loud brother-and-his-friends are making it a little hard to concentrate.

And as far as how far they are, a good ways away. There are a few things I plan to have happen before they even reach the NCr, let alone actually complete their objective. I do have other things planned to slow them down a bit, and make it a little harder than that, just so you guys know it isn't all random stuff going on. :P

Re: [OOC] The Wanderers

Yea, I was figuring that was kind of the point. Especially with how brightly colored they were, it would even draw ATTENTION to how inadequate they were haha :)

So approximately how far are they from their objective at this moment?

Re: [OOC] The Wanderers

Yes, it's fine to talk about the rp here; that's fine. I don't mind that she pulled those wires out...because I'm not really sure how much good a handful of thin wires is going to do us. And Luke...I have no clue what happened to him. If he doesn't post soon, I'll just send him a pm.

Re: [OOC] The Wanderers

Woo, so dis is excitin--Is it alright that I just pulled those wires from my pouch? I felt kinda baaddzzzz but I didn't see an alternative...................................>_>

WHUR DID LUKE GO? MAN DOWN MAN DOWN.

Are we allowed to converse about happeninz in the plot here?

Re: [OOC] The Wanderers

Mmmmmm, ees dere nao.

Re: [OOC] The Wanderers

Well...wouldn't be fair to accept a character sheet that doesn't have that in there...I bugged others for not having that in there. I like the character but, to be fair, I will wait until you edit that in. Just trying to be fair to everyone, you know?

Re: [OOC] The Wanderers

I'm also 90% sure I forgot to write "note" at the bottom of my character app.
I did this intentionally to make a great first impression. :I
Don't hate meee

Re: [OOC] The Wanderers

HAY GUISE.
I am playing little creepy Lana, so excited about this one.
I'ma post first thing in the morning, but considering it's somehow almost 6am...I should probably at least PRETEND to be asleep for a bit >_>

Re: [OOC] The Wanderers

srry I haven't posted in a while, had some stuff to do.
I'll either get typing a post now, or try later.

It's gonna be later.
Almost finished a post when a t-storm rolled in. D:

Re: [OOC] The Wanderers

:P I think I'll try to wait for more posts before I reply to that one, though; want to give others a chance to post. :P And that's fine; I'm glad you let me know beforehand, rather than waiting until after you had been gone to tell me. :P

Re: [OOC] The Wanderers

Second post posted, and new job acquired. :)
I'm just warning you now, I may not be able to post much over this weekend since I'll be at T in the Park.

Re: [OOC] The Wanderers

Okay...so I'm going to make the first post. I already know of one other person for sure that's still working on a character, but he just has a little editing to do, and should be able to catch up quickly.

Re: [OOC] The Wanderers

About to submit my character right now :)

Re: [OOC] The Wanderers

Ah...yeah, the site just seems to have problems with any of those kinds of letters. I wouldn't worry too much about it; I still can tell what the name was supposed to be.

Re: [OOC] The Wanderers

Well crap... It seems this site doesn't like the letter " ö " :s

Re: [OOC] The Wanderers

Alright; sounds good to me. :P
