Vidia Danae Young's Story

I frown slightly when Cassie denys my request to go riding, may I can get Vidia to go.
I was taken back when Cassie mentioned her eating, how did Cassie know, I havent told anyone about it and really tried to not bring attention onto myself "I already ate, no need to worry about me. And you know Vidia and I are always here if you need to talk".
After Cassie heads to her room I head into my own and pick up Rascal then go sit on Vidia's bed.
"Vi wake up I would like to talk with you" I gently shake Vidia's shoulder then lay down beside my twin "Vidia wake up please".

When Alexis's alarm went off, it sent her into a long bout of groans and grumbles in argument. She even grabbed one of my endless amount of pillows and threw it at her, causing Jinx and Mistique to mew in annoyance and burrow deeper under the covers of her bed sheets.

When she finally summoned the courage to crawl out of bed and the warmth that came with it, it was slowly and almost like a caterpillar escaping its cocoon to reveal what a beautiful butterfly it had turned into.

"Do you always have to get up so early?" she whined as Alexis made her way back into the room several minutes later. "I can't, I have to drop everyone off at their practices, Kimmy has summer preschool, and then I have to run errands, remember?" she asked as she slowly went about getting ready for her day, taking a shower in the side of the bathroom that was connected to her sister's. The opposites sides of the bathroom were identical in design, only Vidia's belongings were differently shaped, colored, designed, and anything else someone could imagine. She blow dried her hair and added a small amount of make up to her features, giving herself a smoky eyed look, then tugged on a pair of jeans shorts and a form-fitting white tank top. She pulled her hair back then let it fall back into placed, fluffed it a little, then smiled at her reflection and practically skipped from the bedroom.

She made her way down the halls and finally the stairs, Jinx and Mistique following her. She made her way into the living room and lifted the blanket from over the cage that housed her two birds. She moved her finger against the bars. "Hello Tonio, hello Danela. How'd you two lovebirds sleep?" she smiled, opening the cage and slipping her hands inside to let them wrap their claws around her fingers and she placed them on top of the cage. She opened the feeder inside the cage and filled it with fresh seeds, then opened the water tank and filled it with fresh water. She then lifted the two sleepy birds and placed them back inside the cage, stroking their heads before shutting the door of the cage. She smiled at them, waved, then bid them a goodbye and left the room. Her two white baby tigers trailed after her, almost like puppies, into the kitchen, where she pulled out several pots and pans to cook the normal food she would make for her siblings that woke up later then she did.

She prepared bacon, eggs, omelettes, pancakes, muffins, sausages and one of Kimmy's favorites, pancakes with berries on top. "Breakfast is ready!" she shouted through the house, casting a glance at the clock. It was six-fifteen and they would have another hour before they needed to leave to drop Kimberly off at her summer-preschool and get everyone to practices for the sports they were in, and so she could run errands, so she began to set out plates and place food on them. She moved to the front door and leaned out into the cool, spring morning air. "Whoever wants food had better come and get it!" she shouted, her voice carrying across the acres of farm that they owned. She finally leaned back inside after several moments then returned to the kitchen and went about filling the many animal bowls that were set in what everyone now called the Animal Room, which was basically where the animals ate and played and sometimes slept, along with where the animals were all kept, including her birds. It took a long time since she was the only one that ever did it, but it had to get done by someone, somehow.

I felt like everyone was pushing me away, first mom and dad, now Cassie and Vidia. I let out a small sigh and go lay down on my bed for a few minutes, letting my mind wander. I then felt my stomach rumble but ignored it, I have been getting better at being able to ignore the pains.

I dont know how long I have been laying there but I must of spaced out because I hear Vidia yelling something about breakfast. I get out of bed, put on my combat boots and then look back to Rascal "ill be back in a bit, dont cause too much mischief". I head downstairs and get a glass of water then went to look for Vidia.

I found her in the animal room "Vidia im heading out, going to ride Sage then head to dance, not sure when ill be back. Have a pleasent day" I said in a bit of a dry tone, maybe it would just be best if I disappeared for a bit, not like anyone in this family would notice. "Oh I know you eill probably have time for her but Cassie said she needs to talk to either of us or both at some point today but hey if your busy im sure ill be there for her". I then turn to walk away and head out to the barn.

Vidia had almost finished in the animal room when she heard Alexis’s voice. She straightened from filling one of the endless amount of food bowls in the room and offered her a smile. “I’ll make sure that I talk to her and see what she needs,” she said, filling the last bowl then leaving the room and shutting the see-through glass door with various small holes in it. She had let the birds and other animals out of their cages and she really didn’t want them getting out in the house, because it would be a pain in the butt to try and find them in the mansion of a country house that they lived in.

She moved into the kitchen. “Hang on, Alexis,” she ordered, snatching up a muffin and moving over to her. She thrust the muffin into her hands and gave her stern look. “You had better eat that or I’m going to start shoving food down your throat, understand?” she asked, crossing her arms. She had begun to notice changes in her sister; she was losing weight, her clothes weren’t fitting her as well, and she hadn’t been eating very often. “Now you can go, but you had better eat that,” she said as the distant sound of Kimmy’s feet were heard. Vidia turned and smiled at her littlest sister. “Hey honey, I made your favorite,” she said, lifting her up at the waist and into her arms. “Pancakes and your favorite fruit of all time,” she said, walking over to the counter to show her the food. “I’ll make you a plate if you go ahead and sit down at the table,” she said, putting the little girl down again. She then turned and began to fill a plate for before making her way over to the long table in the connected dining room. She set the plate on the table and poured a glass of juice for Kimmy from the pitcher that sat on the table, and then set the glass beside the plate. “Eat up honey,” she said, ruffling her little sister’s hair as she turned back to finish her morning chores in the kitchen, which were to clean the dishes, wash the counters, organize the fridge and cupboards, finish a list for food to buy when she went grocery shopping that day, and wash the floors. First, though, she set the food on the counters and a stack of plates beside them, knowing very well that a lot of her siblings would choose to eat alone in their rooms instead of in the kitchen, but not caring in the least.

I look up at Vida and giggle "morning" I say giggling hugging her. Soon I'm climbing up into a chair that had a booster seat since I am so tiny. I look up at my big brother, David and wave "morning bubby". I chirp as I take my juice cup with both hands and sip carefully not to spill it. I squeal in excitement as I see my princess plate with my breakfast on it.

I was almost out the door but Vidia caught me, putting a damn muffin in my hand and telling me to eat, like that would happen. "You not my mom Vi and im not hungry" I put the muffin back on the counter and was out the door before I could hear another word. Maybe just maybe I could talk to Elodie later.
I head into the stable and see Cecil with Tempest " 'morning C plan on going on a ride?" I ask as a grab a brush and head over to the stall that was across feom Tempest. There was a nameplate on the stall that read 'Sage' and in the stall was a black three year old horse. "Why hello there sweetie, want to stretch your legs this morning?" I ask the horse as I go in the stall and start brushing Sage.

I walk into the kitchen and see Vidia. I ask if we can talk and she walks with me up to the parlor.
I keep trying to talk but I keep trailing off.
How can I tell her?
"Vidia there's something really important I need to tell you. I,um, I. Well in the second to last week of may, on a saturday, there was a party. You know my friend Ryan Wilson? He came up to me and we were talking. Then we went upstairs and started making out/ One thing led to another; I took his virginity. Vidia, I'm...I'm pregnant. I'm five weeks along. I missed my period, so I took a test." I feel tears start to run down my face.

Oh god.

7:00am

Vidia had just finished her chores and was only then readying a plate of now-cold food to stick in the microwave - a usual occurrence for her - when she was interrupted by the sound of Cassie's voice as she entered through the kitchen door. When she asked her to go upstairs with her for a moment, she cast a curious look in the directions of the animals, as if to ask, 'Do you guys know what's up?', before she shrugged and set her plate down.

She followed after her and walked into the parlor, grabbing stray papers and books that had been left out by her siblings, straightening them. When Cassie spoke, the newspapers she had been gathering together slipped from her fingers and fluttered to the floor. For a moment, she didn't speak and she remained still. Finally, she reached down and gathered the papers, straightened them, then set them on the desk that sat in the room. She turned and faced her sister, stared at her for several moments, then took three long strides to reach her, before pulling her into her arms. "Shh, hush now ... It's all going to be okay. I'll handle it, Cassie. I'll take care of it, just like I always have," she murmured soothingly.

She leaned back and grasped her sister's upper arms. "No matter what, don't say anything to mother and father. I'll take care of them, too. I won't let anything happen. I know Ryan; if you talk to him about it, he'll accept the responsibility and he'll take care of you, too. Don't mention this to anyone else other than Ryan and me, at least until I say so," she said, looking into the eyes of her sister sternly. "Now take a few deep breaths, wipe your eyes, blow your nose, and once you feel better, go downstairs and get some more food to eat," she ordered, releasing the younger girl. She turned back to grab a coloring book Kimmy had left out, closed and set it down, then turned back to Cassie. "Cassie ... I'll take care of it, don't worry. Nothing's going to happen to you, the baby, or Ryan," she said gently, moving over to gently rub her arm for a moment. "You'll be okay," she reassured her, starting out of the door. "Now let's go get something to eat, alright?"

I walk back into the kitchen with Vidia. I see David and Kimmy in there.
What did Vidia mean when she said she was gonna "take care of it" ?

I grab some bacon, a chocolate chip muffin, and a cup of orange juice. I look at Kimmy.
Poor kid. She's so screwed over. I mean, mom just sorta popped her out and handed her over to us, her grown kids who barely give a shit. If it weren't for Vidia, and occasionally David she's be so screwed up. If I didn't think it would cause a big mess I would get her to a family that cares more. But if I cause a scene that big Mom would shoot me herself.

The silence is awkward, but I'm too pissed off to say anything.
Why me? Why did I have to suddenly become fertile queen and get knocked up? I don't even know what Ryan's gonna say. We've been friends for a while and I took his virginity.

I walk out of the kitchen before I start crying.

Vidia

Vidia made her way down after Cassie, and into the kitchen to clean up after breakfast. A quick glance at the clock told her she had no time to eat and would have to pick up something while she ran errands - again. She stifled a sigh as she packed away the leftovers for later, slid them into the large fridge, and grabbed her jacket. She pulled it on and slipped a muffin into her mouth, checking her pockets for her wallet. Nothing. "Damn," she muttered, but it was muffled and incomprehensible due to the muffin between her lips.

She took off out of the kitchen and up the stairs, straightening stray papers, grabbing loose clothes along the way, and darted into her and Alexis's room. She had ten minutes before they had to leave. Straightening stray things in her room, along with Alexis's side, and chewing on the muffin along the way, she searched for her wallet. When she finally found it, she stuffed it in her pocket and took off downstairs, key jingling around on her finger. "I'm leaving! If anyone needs a ride, they'd better book it outside! You all have five minutes!" she shouted through the house. When she was outside, she yelled the same thing to whoever was out there, then made her way over to the van she had bought herself along with a BMW M5. She slipped into the van and turned it on, before making her way back inside.

She smiled at Kimmy as she lifted a napkin and helped wipe off her face. "Alright, honey, it's time to go to preschool," she said, lifting her out of her booster seat. She walked upstairs and set the little girl on the floor of her room, did away with her pajamas and replaced them with a sundress with shorts underneath. She quickly braided her hair, having done this ritual so many times that by the time she was done, she had two minutes to spare. With that down, she led Kimmy downstairs and out the front door, then helped her into the van. She strapped her into her her booster seat then moved to the front of the van, slipped on her sunglasses, and waited for the rest of her siblings to file out and into the car.

Janai

Janai awoke to the sound of Vidia's shouting. She groaned a little, rubbing at her head as a major hangover started to assault her. Her eyes were red from lack of sleep and the drug use from the night before, and when she made her way out of her bed and into her bathroom, she took one look at herself and mutter, "I look like shit."

Making quick work of taming her wild, black and white hair, she pulled on a black tank top, black shorts, black sandals and her black choker. She grabbed her fencing bag and launched from her room, easily taking off down the stairs and tossing back a few pills for her depression and her hangover. She searched through the fridge for a moment before removing a still-warm muffin and some cool orange juice, then took off out the door and tossed her bag into the trunk of the van. She climbed into the van and settled into her normal seat in the back corner, sunglasses in place.

I look up at Elodie "So you think if I got find my mother right now and tell her I am gay she will be okay with that?" I look down at my throbbing hand and bite my lip "Can we take care of this my hand is throbbing and I have to get to dance class soon". I know I shouldn't dance after the fall this morning but I have never missed practice or was every late.

I hear Vidia call "Im glad I have got my own car, because there is no way I would be ready in five minutes." I think about Vidia and really would want to find a time to talk to her, maybe tonight before bed..it was always calmer at night in the house than in the morning and during the day. "Please don't mention this to anyone, I plan on telling Vidia but not anyone else yet...not sure if ill ever tell Mom. She never has time for us anyway."

I sat in my booster chair munching on my breakfast watching everyone hustle and bustle around me, most of the drama and emotions were too complicated for me to understand so I proceeded to sit there and sing a rather loud rendiition of "you are my sunshine"

"YOU ARE MY SUNSHINNNEEEE MY ONLYYY SUUUNNSHIIINEEE YOU MAAKEE MEEE HAAPPPYYY WHEN SKKIIEESSS ARREEEE GREEEYYY YOUUU'LLL NEEVVERRR KNOOOW DEEEWWWRRRR HOOWW MUCHHH IIII WUUBBBB YOUUUUU PWEEEEAAASSEE DOONNNT TAKKK MY SUUUNNSHINNEE AWAYYY!" I sang loudly and happily. When Vidia came in I pouted "I don't wanna go to Pweeschool" I protest. But was carried upstairs anyways. Soon I was dressed and my hair was done and I was out in the car "III dont wanna goo" I say again around my thumb that I was sucking "Der is a boy whoosh meean to me" I whine to Vidia.

I knew that I should tell Cecil because he was my big brother and he loved me lots and lots!

Vidia

Vidia sighed and stepped from the car. "I'll be right back," she said to her siblings inside of it. She then made her way back into the house and into the living room, where she heard the sounds of Curious George. Without a word, she made her way over to the TV and flicked it off, crossing her arms and standing in front of it. "Kimmy, you're going to school and that's final. I'm not going to fight with you today. I'm really not in the mood to do the same thing I do every morning with you. So, in conclusion, you. Are. Going. To. School," she snapped, moving over and grabbing her. She picked her up into her arm and started towards the car again, struggling against the squirming child.

Janai

Janai muttered something as Kimmy jumped out of the car. Spoiled brat ... She turned up the volume on her iPod, wishing that David were coming along to her fencing practice to help her spar. She had a match later on that day and really needed the practice, but she wasn't about to ask him to do that, not again, at least, not after he'd already helped her so much.

Not wanting to be late to dance I tell Elodie ill see her later and I limp my way upstairs trying my best to avoid anyone. I head into my room and get out a black leotard and a pair of grey leggings. I quickly change, putting my dirty laundry in the hamper and then grab my dance bag and purse. I make a stop into the bathroom where I look for tape and an ace bandage, I find them and quickly tape up my two fingers and wrap up my foot. Afte that I quickly was my face, put my hair in a bun and was my elbows where there were a few scrapes. I head back into my room and grab one of my bigger sweatshirts and put it over me.

Once I have everything I head back downstairs and see Vidia struggling with Kimmy "Im heading to dance" I say to her as I walk past, hoping she doesnt notice that I was limping. I grab my keys and head to my ford wrangler jeep.

I scream and hollar not wanting to go, fighting Vida all the way. I didn't want to go, I was sad on so many levels, mommy hates me, daddy's never there and Ilm picked on and teased at school by the boys. The told me mommy doesn't love me and daddy doesn't want me..and all my family hates me..it was amazing the things pre schoolers could say, probably just quoting their mommies...the ones who love them.

Finally, obviously tired of this, Vidia spun around and placed Kimmy on the ground. "Forget it. Screw it, I'm done," she snapped, furious beyond belief. "I am done trying to help the people in our family. I am done trying to help you, I'm done trying to help our mother ... I. Am. Done." Without another word, she turned and stalked away, marching outside and to the van. Silently, she climbed inside the driver's side, rage that she'd never felt before somehow coursing through her veins. She ignored the inhabitants of the van and instead easily spun out of the driveway, inhaling and exhaling deeply in an attempt to expel her anger.

Janai

Janai raised a brow as Vidia stormed into the car, rage on her face. She even removed her earphones in surprise. She'd never seen her eldest sister so angry before. With her eyes wide in shock, she slowly replaced the earphones and leaned back into the corner of the car, her lips pursed in surprise.

I wonder what the hell happened while I was asleep.

"Okay. Once we. After. After we figure everything out, we can get him." It's sick the way that sounds, like we're picking him up from a baseball game. All of a sudden the panic stops, like a switch flipped. Now it's like a mask is covering me and my heart, so all I feel is a dull ache. A throbbing, dull ache pulsing throughout me.
I get up and walk, stumble, down the hall.
I pick up my phone and text Vidia, Janai, Alexis, and Cecil, "Emergency. Get home now."
I stagger to the office and wait till I hear mom hang up, then I walk in.
For a moment all I do is look at her. I look into her eyes and for probably the first time I see her. I see the shock, the pain. It's almost like her mask is falling away and she's desperately trying to save it.
I gulp and open my mouth, but all I do is exhale. I let a minute or two pass before I open it again.
"Mommy. Can I have a hug?" I whimper and feel tears escape.

Vidia/i]

[i]It's my fault ... My fault ... I did it ... It's all ... My fault ...

Vidia sat in the van, unable to move. Blood trickled down the side of her face, and Janai was unconscious in the back of the vehicle. She had turned the car around to return home to grab her purse, and in the process, had gone too sharply around the corner leading to their house.

And had killed her brother in the process.

She slowly moved, almost unable to do so, and dimly heard approaching sirens. She managed to open the door, and fell through it and to the hot, tar road. She laid there for several moments, having a difficult time trying to find the strength to move. When she finally did, she pushed herself up and limped over to the crumpled car, her leg screaming in protest with each step. When she finally managed to reach it, she tore open the door, soft sobs already escaping her. David's limp body fell from it, and directly into her arms, causing her to topple backwards onto the pavement.

She cradled him to her chest, her sobs wracking her body. "David ... David ... David!"

Janai

Her head was pounding, and her entire body was on fire. She couldn't find the strength to move, and barely registered the sound of nearing police vehicles and ambulances. Everything was echoing, blurry, and doubled. She couldn't even find the strength to lift one hand, let alone leave the vehicle. Her music was still playing, but her headphones had fallen to the seat beside her.

Before she knew what had happened, she was being gently pulled from the vehicle and settled onto the gurney. She could hear her eldest sister screaming, but couldn't even turn her head to look in that direction. "Da ... vid ..."

Everything went black.

I just finished up dance class when I felt my phone buzz. I open my phone to see a text from Cassie. "An emergency..now thata weird". My body was aching from dancing after the fall, my dance teacher didn't even let me dance most of the class.
I get into my jeep and send Cassie a text back "just got done dance. on my way home now".
As I drive I wonder what kind of emergency could be happening. As I take a right I noice an accident that must have happened and I slow down. My eyes went wide when I notice the vehicle and I quickly get out of my jeep and run towards the van.
A police officer stops me "you can't go in there". My eyes look wild and I look at the police officer "those are my siblings!"
I see Vidia and Janai and I cant wrap my mind around it. The police officer tells me they are going to be taken to the hospital.
I quickly get in my jeep and follow the ambulance. In the car I take out my phone and dial home hoping someone would answer the damn phone. I leave a message on the voicemail "Its alexis...im at the hospital...Vidia..Janai..David...please call me".
After I hang up I park the jeep and head into the hospital. I let the information desk know who I am there for. I go to the waiting room and start pacing, even though my foot is protesting against it, I ignore the pain and shut down all of my emotions.

A doctor comes out, telling us we can go see them.
Camille can wait...
I follow Alexis into their room. They're really banged up, it's scary at first.
Alexis asks if they're gonna be ok.

"David died." I say. What's the point, though, they probably know. "It wasn't anyone's fault. It wasn't yours, it wasn't David's."

There's a long silence. "Vidia?"
