personal details

Frank Taylor
Aged 26
"I'm a man, last time I checked."

In an interview with revolver, Taylor claimed that his mother, Dianne Taylor died when he was twelve. He was never told how she died, but he was confident that it was an accident. His father, Clayton Taylor, is an "abusive alcoholic asshole whom I don't want to associate myself with." My two brothers are the two most supportive guys I have ever met."

Image

Frank has been into metal since he was a very young child. "My brothers would all hang out in my room. They brought their record player and cassette player and we would sit there for hours, listening to Dio, Sabbath, Rainbow, Obituary, Grave, and all these diverse and magical bands that I just couldn't get enough of. Blackout started back in 1989, when I was born. My brothers played in the basement everyday, writing songs and playing them. They played for family and friends, never anything more. In 2000, they decided to call it quits. But me being the optimistic child I am said that they need to keep going. Having lost their singer and their bassist, I said I'd learn to sing for them, and we could go on without a bassist. We came together as a band and practiced for almost 10 years before my brothers decided to go to university. So I got a whole new line up and worked on Sick and Twisted and Bound By Chains. That's the rough history of the band, really."

Image

"My first show was in a small town bar called the APK, a really small joint where all bands who are starting up play there. Being six foot three, the low ceiling and high stage didn't help me. So, I garnered my reputation of screaming and shit in the mosh pits because I didn't fit on the stage...our first tour was 'The Red Wedding Tour', our guitarist Matt was getting married to our manager, and so we played at his wedding, and then went through to every big city in Ontario. Man, I played day and night. Whether I was sick, tired and battered, I didn't care. I was playing, and there is no way I would stop."

Image

"Is this the part where I get to talk about myself? Yay! Well, I'm not just a mucisian. I'm not just a metal head, either. I love cooking, my nachos are to die for. I also love spy films, comic books, fantasy video games, and drinking every now and then. I love cats, calico cats especially. I'm a fan of traveling, which is why the road is great for me. I think the only thing I hate is letting go of new friends."

Eight Hours Before The Show In California

"Okay, so after we play Dark Matter Of Abysmal Spawning, I think we should play that new track." Frank yawns, scribbling down the set list in blue marker on a lined piece of paper. The band was given their first ever two hour and a half long set list, and they knew that they had to step it up. They had been used to playing only hour long sets.
"Do you think its ready to be played?" Matt questioned. He sat across the wooden table which Frank and the drummer, Axel, sat at. "We just wrote it last night. We don't even have a demo for it."
"Yeah, but I want the fans to hear something new tonight. What better way to do that then to play a new song?" Frank's attention drifted, his eyes peering out of the window beside him.
"Frank, we have almost three hours to play. We can play tracks off the new album, and still have time to play songs off Box O' Snakes."
"Matt, he isn't even listening anymore." Axel sighed. "Why Box O' Snakes anyway?"
"We never play anything from it. All we play is the intro from track one as we get on the stage, that's about it." Matt's guitar rested on his lap, his long brown hair touching the face of the guitar. It was a beautiful Les Paul, he used it at every show. "So what do you think about that idea?" He asked. He reached on to the table and grabbed a black hat that had the logo of the band Exumed written on it. He put it on backwards on his head, and started playing the main riff to the track Poisoned Rats.
"I'm all for it, man. Just gotta run it past Jake and make sure Frank heard it."
"Alright boys." The voice of the bus driver, Scruffy Jones, called. "We have just entered San Diego. "

She sat in her bathroom while her roommate Sarah was in there with her. She was getting ready for work and was in the middle of having a conversation with her friend. It was the usual type of thing since they both had the same shift at The Ink. Neveah turned to her friend a laugh escaping her lips as she did so. "Come on, you already know I'm not interested in him at all!" She told her friend and laughed at him softly. Sarah had shaken her head as she had said that in response. "You should be! How long has it been? 4 years last time I checked! At least the man a chance to take you on a date." Sarah stated rolling her eyes as she did her hair in the mirror. Neveah shook her head once gain slipping on her outfit. She usually witch it up from time to time, the only thing required was that it has to be all black. She didn't have a problem at all. Her shirt was strapless clinging to her waist. The shorts were basically spandex and stopped right after her bum was covered. It wouldn't past the ass check at all, but it was one of her favorite outfits.
"You should know how I feel about this whole thing! Gavin is a player and that's just a no go!" She shot back automatically sticking her tongue out playfully as she fixed her top and had begun getting to work on her hair after that. The rest of the time was spent with her going back and forth with Sarah about her love life. Neveah was a hopeless romantic at times, but she tended to be rather picky when it came to the guys she was willing to go out with. Maybe a little too picky when it came down to it. But generally she had seen no problem with it at all. When she was in her last relationship, it felt as if she could never do what she wanted at all. It didn't give her the freedom she wanted to have while she was with someone and that was the absolute one things she felt that would be needed. Now that she's single she feels as if it one of the most amazing things in the world, although there is always the part of her that wishes she had someone to be with her during the rough moments in her life.
"Hellooo? Earth to Nev?' Sarah asked snapping her finger in front of Neveah. Her eyes went wide for a moment and looked at her and smiled shaking her head and laughed softly about it. "I'm here, I'm here!" She said swatting her hand and scrunching up her nose. She finished curling her hair and smiled at the purple color. She recently had it dyed purple, and it had actually turned out better than she actually expected The curls where loose and fell down her back stopping in the middle of it. Normally her hair had reached all the way to the top of her bum. Every time it grew longer than that and she would simply get it cut to her liking again.
After about two hours of straight nonsense she finally was able to get into her car. She made sure to keep the gates locked so that Biscuit wouldn't be able to get out at any point in time. She usually kept the backyard doggy door open so that he wouldn't be stuck inside of the house all of the day. She waited till Sarah had fully backed out before pulling out and making her way to the local bar she worked out. It was local and everyone in town seemed to be attracted to it for an unknown reason. She passed the final red light and made a turn at the corner before parking her car. She slipped on her heels and walked down into the bar. She was greeted by the sweet smell of sweating bodies and a hint of men's cologne going around the whole place. A few men tried to offer her a drink and she shook her head and pushed her way through. When she made her way to the bar she slipped behind it and looked at Sarah. "I hope this will be worth it all." She smiled at began to make the drinks people ordered. It was an inside joke and she personally didn't know the meaning of it.

The bus pulled up behind the small local bar, it was a bit smaller than Blackout was used to playing. Frank looked out his window and smiled. He pulled his jacket off the back of the bench he was sitting at and pulled it on.

"Nothing better than getting to the venue early, huh?" He smiled to his band mates.
"The only problem is, the opening bands are locals, and not from the rest of the tour. I enjoy playing with our friends." Axel sighed, taking the last sip of the beer he had opened while on the road.
"Just be happy we made it this far, dude " Frank scratched his bearded chin. "I could cancel the show and send us back home if you want."
"Just unload the shit, would you?" Matt called as he rolled a rack of six guitars down the ramp at the back of the bus. Frank and Axel walked over to the ramp where there were carts with amplifiers stacked on top of them. Frank pulled one of the carts down the ramp and into the backstage area of the bar. He could hear how bumbling and busy it was even hours before the show. After all the gear and instruments were unloaded Frank walked around to the front of the bar and walked in the front door. The first thing he noticed was the large Blackout poster on the door. He smiled to himself and walked over to the bar. It seems that nobody had noticed him just yet. He sat down at the bar and ran his hands through his hair.
"I'll take a pitcher of beer, please. Something crisp, and tangy. Also, do you happen to sell chicken sandwhiches here? I've been to a lot of different bars, and they have sold multiple different foods and drinks."

Two hours after of working at the bar Sarah had went back to help set up some band that would be performing there. Neveah had no clue who they would be at all, due to her lack of paying attention at any bars meetings. Half the time she wouldn't even how up to them. She found them to be a waste of her time so she would always wiggle her way around the, although a few she had been forced to go. But if you normally go to the meetings, you'll know it is a rare sight to see her at meetings. She just want the type of person to ever go really and early everyone knew that about her. Sarah came back blabbering about the band and squealing about t causing her to laugh at that. "There here! I'm so excited! they are performing here, ad we get to help them get ready to perform." Sarah was acting like such a kid and Neveah couldn't help but to laugh about it. She nodded her head off lazily with a smile. "I'm not suppose to be helping them in the slightest. I do my duties at the bar and you know that!" She stated firmly not planning to budge about that at all. It wasn't that she didn't want to go and see them at all. It was more of the fact that she didn't want to help them out while Sarah would be gushing about them the whole time. "Fine you prude, don't slow down business while I'm gone!" Sarah teased her leaving once again to finish sitting everything up for the uprising concert at some point in time during the night.
The next few minutes seemed to be slow. She gave other people their drinks here and there not really having the normal rush they had around that time. When she turned to look at the stage, I seemed as if half of the people there had already begun to crowd the area. She laughed softly about it not noticing the man as he came and sat down at the bar. She didn't see the big deal in it all. They were just some and that was starting to get big. Now that they area EVERYONE seems to be buzzing about it and she couldn't help but to just laugh about the whole thing. Neveah was always the type to like to listen to music it, but she never got into a band and began to like them as a major fan. Half the time she barely knew the songs name, so how would she even know the person who sings it. It her the whole thing was dumb since she didn't ever feel the rush and excitement that came with it.
Her own thoughts had been cut short when she heard someone speak. It had taken her a moment to register what he was telling her. She was used to just people stating what thy wanted and leaving. She looked at him for a moment, completely clueless as to who he even was. But then he had a strange look of confusion on her face an nodded at him. She grabbed a clean glass and began to dry it off so it wasn't wet anymore. Afterwards she poured the beer into the glass sliding it over to him. "We do have it on the V.I.P. list." She told him and looked at him for a moment more. It finally had came to her and her eyes went wide. "I'm such an idiot, give me a second." She told him going back. A few minutes later she came back with a chicken sandwich. She set it down in front of him and gave a small smile. "Personally I think it tastes amazing. Not top rated fancy, but still amazing." She told him and brushed a strand of her purple hair behind her ear. She saw Sarah and waved her hand over so that she came over there. "That's, Fr-" Sarah started but her mouth was covered as she was in the middle of speaking. She gave her the glare that said for her to be quiet. "Your turn to take over, I embarrassed the hell out of myself. You should have told me they were going to be here and who they were!" Neveah huffed out and pouted about it. Sarah simply snickered and went behind the bar. Neveah took off the small nametag and walked out, trying to make her way through the crowd again.

"Everybody is here." The sound and light guy told Matt back stage. "So the bill looks like this: The Covenant plays first, then Brave New World, followed by Pull Pushers Paradise, then Hellfire Rage, then Folklore, and then you guys finish up the night."
"So the other sets gotta be what, fifteen, twenty minutes?" Matt looked around backstage, it was filled with musicians and stage crews.
"The first three bands get fifteen minutes, the rest up until you guys get thirty. You guys get two and a half hours."
"Fuck, eh? The party will go until sunrise." Matt laughed. "Well, I'm gonna go get me a beer."
Frank smiled as the girl behind the bar told him about the whole V.I.P. deal, waiting until she caught on. He reached into his jean pocket and pulled out a pair of fingerless biker gloves and his wallet. He pulled out a twenty and stuffed it in the tip jar and pulled on his gloves. "Don't worry about it," he smiled to her as soon as she realized who she was talking to. "We all fuck up." He sipped his beer and listened to her rave on about how great the sandwhich is. "I shall take your word for it."
As he began to eat the lovely sandwhich, with chicken grilled to perfection, he watched as another woman who worked at the bar had a freak out over him.
"Get comfy, Frankie." Matt sighed as he sat down at the bar. "We will be here for quite a bit." Matt rubbed his clean shaven chin and looked at the woman behind the bar. "Can I get two beers please?" He then looked at Frank. "You want a beer? Make that three beers please."
Frank laughed as he took the finishing bite of his Sandwhich. "Relax, man. Enjoy your time here, it's not every day we get to watch small town bands open for is in California.Take your time, visit the merch booths, buy some thing. Just enjoy yourself man."
"Why do you think I'm ordering myself some beer? I enjoy the music, it's the same music we play. Well, that's a lie. Pill Pushers Paradise and Folklore aren't. Pill Pushers are punk, and Folklore is folk metal." Matt groaned, hitting his head off the oak wood bar.
"If you don't complain, it'll go by faster." Frank shook his head laughing as he looked up at the stage, where Axel was helping the first band to set up their drum set. Frank listened, hearing the sound of Pantera lightly playing over the P.A. system. "This is where I love to be, man. At a bar, at least thirty minutes before show time. It's beautiful."
"While Folklore are playing, we are all warming up." Matt cracked his knuckles. "Dont want you to get up there for almost three hours and completely fuck up your voice. We need those vocal cords of yours to still work after nearly three hours"
