Her head was splitting. Like splitting open. Like an egg.

Jo Darling pushed herself up onto her elbows and tried to survey her surroundings, though her eyes were still blurry. When they cleared, her large, blue orbs widened, and she pushed herself all the way into a sitting position. "What the fuck..." she mumbled, and put one hand over her thin, flat stomach, which was churning. "Where am I?"

But she already knew where she was. As Jo stared at the bars that separated her from the hallway, she cussed loudly, and ran her hand through her fiery red hair. She was in jail. Really? Come on. I mean, she hadn't killed anyone in a long time. Hadn't she? The last thing she could remember was a dimly lit room with a man who she didn't know, and the pills that slid down her throat, and lit her veins on fire. What had happened?

Jo pushed herself to her feet, and noted that she was wearing what she had been that night, a black and white striped shirt and a short black skirt with boots. Her skin crawled as the cold, dingy air pushed against her legs, and she tucked her hands into her sleeves as she walked up to the rusting bars. A large number 3 was painted across the hall from her. Block 3? She could tell this was an old prison. She couldn't hear anyone else. Where were the guards? Where were the lights? She had no idea whether or not it was day or not, and she tried to push her head out of the bars to examine her surroundings, but she couldn't. It was then that she heard a shout. Something about being bored? Where the fuck was she?

"Hello?!" she called out. "Hello?!" She half expected a guard to rap on the bars and tell her to shut up, but nothing happened. Ears perked and ready for a response, she leaned against the bars and listened hard, trying to find anything but the whistle of the wind, and the scurry of the rat that crawled around in the corner of her cell, obviously just as miserable as she.

"Woah. Someone's alive out there? Awesome." A guard looked at Lauri with a harsh glare, but said nothing. She gave him a wink and carried on with her little conversation. She leaned against the bars with a calm deposition and continued, "Name's Lauri. You must be new here, right?" Lauri looked into the hall to see if she could see anyone hanging out of their prison cells. Nothing. Girl must be at n awkward angle.

Jo cocked her head to the side as she listened to what the other female voice was telling her. "Yeah, I'm new." she said. "Where the hell are we?" she asked.

In another swift movement, she pulled a couple bobby pins out of her hair and began rubbing them against the concrete beside her. She watched as the thin layers of the pin started coming off, making a rather thin edge that she then stuck into the lock on her cell, as she let herself down onto her knees to get closer.

Devin had knelled down to work on the lock to his cell door when suddenly the door opened on its own with a loud click. The sound suggested that Devin's cell door; perhaps every door in that block, had some sort of triggering mechanism, no doubt activated by their captor.

Perhaps this old prison wasn't as empty, nor as run down as was assumed, clearly someone must have prepared the cells long before placing anyone within them.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Even though there was no discernible official ranking for the current prisoners, each prisoner had their own designated number, their jailer had little interest in their identity on the outside and so he didn't take the time to remember their names.

The one named KC for instance, he had designation inmate #13B1.

As with Devin, the barrier which imprisoned the female police officer within a tiny 12' x 12' jail cell had also clicked open by a preset trigger.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Colten and Rachelle, affectionately designated inmates #4B5? and #8B5? by their jailers, were one of the few to have escaped their cells in defiance of whoever was keeping them prisoner.

Those who had yet to escape and were now actively engaged in tampering with the locks to their cells, were in danger.

If they should fail to trigger their release the cell doors might be render inoperable, they had been set on a timing device and were obviously setup in this fashion, perhaps as an attempt at mental and emotional torture.

Luckily Colten and Rachelle had freed themselves from the cell and were currently walking the corridors of cell block 5.

-The main door of each cell block would prove to be far more formidable-

The man and woman which Colten had discovered remained huddled in the corner of their cell, they were hunkered down with their faces turned toward the wall, each eliciting rather disturbing gurgling sounds from their throats.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

At that exact moment deep within cell block 3 two females prisoners designated inmates #3B3 and #7B3 had just introduced themselves, as the one named Lauri was actively working on the lock to her own cell.

Unfortunately, their jailer had a rather special bone to pick with these inmates.

As the young woman with the hair accessory was attempting to jimmy the lock a second bolt was activated, thus creating a double lock down.

In contrast to her situation the door to Jo's cell had clicked open like the others had-She at least was free to exit the cramped closet-cell.

Before Jo could take a single step she heard the sound of the main cell block door opening, only to slam shut seconds later-But not before letting something from the outside into the cell block 3.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nico, Mullen and Vladamir (otherwise known as inmates #9B6, 10B6 & 11B6) had a special connection to one another, and although this memory was no longer as accessible as it had been in their past, it was the main reason why they were housed in the same cell block.

The unexpected phenomenon in cell block 5 was not limited to that section of the prison-The trio were graciously offered the same temporary reprieve from the hardship of their collective situation.

And so, even as one of them worked on his cell, the cell door for one the others had opened on its own accord, while the double lock down system was initiated for prisoner #10B6.

Unfortunately, the damage caused by inmate #9B6 had jammed the system and now his only option was to completely break down the heavy iron door.

Jo ran one hand through her hair, and turned her head over to where Lauri had been speaking. Her breath came out in a few shallow gasps, before she finally got the door open. Her fingers ached, and she wiped the tips of them on her skirt. As she pushed herself to her feet, she brushed one of her hands lightly against her knees to rid herself of the filth that was covering them. Her skin was cold.

The lock clicked, and she let out a sigh of relief. There was something incredibly off about this place. She pushed on the cell door until it opened for her, and she let out a little smirk and snigger. Jo lifted one of her feet to take a step forward, but a loud clanging, and the slide of metal against metal brought her to bring her foot back down right where it was. Her head snapped to the right, and she let her breath out in a slow, silent gust of air.

"Did you hear that?" she asked, quietly, not knowing whether or not Lauri could hear her. Jo debated sliding back into her cell and closing the door again, but the idea of being trapped behind bars, no matter how safe it sounded, did not sound appealing to her. Instead, she leaned down and grasped one end of her cot, and with a crunch, as quietly as she could, she ripped off one of the poles off of the rusty contraption. The clatter of screws onto the ground sounded far louder than it should have. Jo bolted out her door, and made her way toward the sound of Lauri's voice, stumbling over fallen rubble on the way.

It wasn't until now that she noticed the incredible stench that was coming from the hallway. As she reached up one hand to cover her mouth and nose, she wrinkled her brow, and turned around to stare down the dim hallway that she had just come from. There was a figure slouched against the bars of one of the cells. It smelled and looked mysteriously like a body.

Jo didn't stick around to find out what it was. Instead, weilding the pole, she made her way over to Lauri's cell, and grasped the bars, not believing her eyes. This woman was real. She glanced down at what Lauri was doing to get out of the cell before shaking her head. "Let me." she whispered, and again dropped to her knees, fitting her little bobby pin into the lock, and wiggling it around. Her chest rose quickly, up and down, as she worked, and she constantly cast a glance around. She turned her eyes so that they met Lauri's before she placed one finger over her lips.

She mouthed her words.

"Someone else is here..."

Lauri was dumbfounded with everything that was happening. She watched as Jo started picking the lock. Wow. The smell was horrid. It was almost unbearable, but Lauri sucked it in. She looked around the hall as Jo played around with the cell lock. Lauri could feel her heart pounding in her chest, but it was a feeling she knew all too well. A smirk slipped onto her lips sneakily. She couldn't help it. Something exciting was going to happen... oh god. Lauri almost jumped out of the prison cell as Jo was fooling around. The longer she took, the more energy Lauri had.

All the adrenaline disappeared when Jo stopped and looked up at Lauri. Her words were cold and unheard, but understood.
"Someone else is here..."
These words froze Lauri. She pressed her face against the bars to look down the hall, but couldn't see anyone. Who could be out there? Chills ran down Lauri's spine and the hairs stood up on the back of her neck... something wasn't right here. She shook it off and turned back to Jo. "Hurry it up then!" She shouted... yet it wasn't a shout. More of a hushed order, but Lauri made sure to keep her voice low.

One of the subjects under the rule of Devin's court wasn't satisfied with the situation, as it had been laid out by the midget king, something which the brute was determined to correct.

Stepping from behind the gathering of mainly gruff looking convicts was the rather large frame of Daniel Powers, or "The Powerhouse" as he was known throughout the facility. He was a big man with an even bigger attitude; a low intelligence sort of person, yet menacing and mean tempered.

Pushing the other inmates aside he came before Devin. "Listen to me pencil dick, I don't take orders from anyone. This is my cell block sweetie pants."

----------------------------------------------------------

The two woman could here the sound of someone shuffling their way toward the cells from around the corner, but then the sound of stepping feet ceased, returning the cell block to a normal level of ambient sound, save for the heavy breathing of Jo and Lauri.

There the mysterious visitor would pause, unlike the inmates however, this person didn't seem to be breathing very hard, in fact he wasn't breathing at all.

Slap!!

Came the loud sound of a fleshy palm smacking against concrete. A bloody hand grabbed the corner of the wall, honoring Jo and Lauri with the very first glimpse of the horrors that await every prisoner.

----------------------------------------------------------

As if hunger, fear, and pregnancy weren't sufficient enough concerns, the introduction of yet another obstacle would certainly break what little will the inmates of cell block 5 had left. Perhaps it would have been a much better torture tactic to have introduced this next bit of confusion to the individual in cell block #1. Still, it should provide much amusement to whoever it was that had imprisoned them.

The surprise came when their was a lull in the frantic, screamed conversations between the terrified inmates of the block, in that moment they heard the faint sound of paper sliding on a concrete floor-A newspaper.

The situation that these people have found themselves in would have an effect on an individual, be it mental or emotional. One thing was certain, they were all quite sane, this wasn't the figment of someones dream, this was reality.

The people trapped inside cell block 5 knew who they were, they might not understand how they came to be in this prison, but they knew that they lived in the real world of 2012.

Accept for the unnerving fact that the headline on the first page of the newspaper indicates that the year was in fact March 21, 2017. It seems that nearly five years of their lives had escaped them. The jailer was overwhelmed with the anticipation of seeing their reactions once they picked up his little present.

------------------------------------------------------------

Kc was unaware of the drastic shift in time from her last memory till this very moment, as a result her observation concerning the impracticality of surveillance equipment being installed within such as disheveled and outdated prison was incorrect, the people controlling the prison had ample time to achieve such a feat.

She was indeed was being watched, though there was no way to ascertain who this person, or indeed persons, were. For all she knew, a prisoner could be one of these people in disguise.

Possibly one of the more seedier criminal elements from directly across the block, though more likely one of the seemingly innocent, average citizens down the aisle.

Jo's hands were shaking, and as she finally got the lock undone, just as she heard a loud "slap!" against the wall. The door swung open, and Jo immediately stood up onto her feet, holding the pipe out in front of her as she stared at the man.

But there was no way this was a normal man. But there was also no way Jo was going to stick around and find out what it really was. Jo's heart seemed to stop in her throat, and her hands shook. As quickly as she could, Jo pushed the fear out of her mine, and stared for only a moment at the being that was in front of them, before grabbing Lauri by the arm, and dragging her out into the hallway, pushing her in the other direction. "Run!" she shouted, and the both of them took off down the hallway.

When they reached the first of a series of gated doors, Jo cussed when she found that it was locked. "Fuck!" She handed the pipe to Lauri, and looked behind them into the darkness as she dropped to her knees and began working on the lock, the same as she had the other ones. "If it comes down here, wack it with that pole." she said, trying to calm the shaking in her hands as she wiggled the bobby pin around.

It was then that she dropped it, and knelt down to the ground to look for it. "Shit. shit shit shit shit shit." It was seconds before she found it again, but it felt like hours.

((sorry that took so long. I've been neck deep in midterms. Free now though))

It was only a matter of seconds after the big bleeding man met death, that he was once again moving on his own accord. Devin and the other inmates were down the hall as they listened to his instructions, they had not noticed the man formally known as the Powerhouse using his upper limbs to slide across the cold concrete floor towards them.

One of the unlucky men in the back of the small group of several inmates was unknowingly chosen to announce the presence of the reanimated Daniel Powers. The former inmate, now living corpse, grabbed the man by the ankles, nearly causing the man to fall against the inmate in front of him.

The man looked down at the castrated man and saw the glazed and bloodshot eyes of his former cellmate. The man began screaming as he desperately tried to release himself from the dead mans grip.

--------------------------------------------------------

Every single window of every cell block had been sealed tight from the outside, large sheets of metal lay over each window, bolted into place and quite unassailable. Several of them however had been rigged to open with the simple flick of a switch, deciding that it was time to give some of the prisoners an idea as to the seriousness and danger of their present situation, one of the jailers flick said lever; this specific lever would opened two windows in the 5th cell block.

The crowd of prisoners had gathered around Coltin, who was standing several feet from the main; and heavily fortified entrance to cell block 5. To the extreme right of the block two windows suddenly opened, the heavy metal sheets on the structures exterior struck the side of the building with a loud thunder-like clank.

The windows of block 4 and 5 were special in that they overlooked the horror of what awaited every prisoner, unfortunately little could be seen out of these particular windows, save but a small portion of the courtyard, though it was more then enough to see a zombie or two, or three, or TEN!-So tightly packed they were in those relatively small courtyards.

The window looking out to the yard was the small window within the rounded end of the block, though the door and second window remained closed, the second window that opened in the block being the larger one from which the very edge of cell block 6 could be seen.

The mysterious individual controlling these specific tortures decided that she would be even crueler then usual and so she also opened the window in cell block 6 so that those prisoners could see the reactions of the inmates in the adjacent cell block. This window would also flip open with the same thunderous clank.

(OOC: look at the picture of the prison for reference)

As the blond fumbled for her favorite lock pick a face suddenly appeared in the small window of the door, scaring the already terrified redhead. The mysterious man appeared to be in his mid to late 30's, and although his face was present but a brief moment Jo could see that the man had black hair and dark brown eyes with pronounced circles around them.

Jo was too frightened to notice the sound that followed the mans appearance, but luckily Lauri had heard the loud clicking sound, almost as if the main door to cell block 3 had been unlocked

And then there were 8!!

The tests were a success, the inhibitor functioned perfectly, the filtering of this compound out of the air had reversed the effects of the treatment which the inmates had received weeks before. The jailer in charge of cell block 6 watched with sadistic delight as the three men housed there were torn to pieces by the hungry zombies.

The jailers had kept the inmates of each cell block near starving so that their blood thirst would be particularly ravenous when they attacked the 12 new prisoners. The other inmates in each block were treated the same-Starved and now extremely hungry.

One of the suppositions of the experiment was to see if someone even without the inhibitor would turn to cannibalism in a given situation, so far this aspect of the experiments was a wash.

The zombie population of cell block 6 now had three more additions to their undead ranks, the jailer had special plans for this lot. From within the round stunted tower Devin and his followers heard the sound of rusty metal upon rusty metal, as the iron door within cell block 6 opened, one after another. The zombies were now free to stumble toward the main door.

Things were coming to ahead, two inmates were now outside the building, they had fought and successfully defeated the pit-zombies, and were now free to make their escape-Perhaps they would try to rescue those still imprisoned within.

Looking back toward the building the two inmates within the pit could see that the entire first level of cell block 5 had been hallowed out, its floors and cells removed, with a single staircase leading up to the second level-Unblocked and unguarded. There were many people inside who are counting on the two men, though perhaps the thought of escape would turn their thoughts toward freedom for themselves.

As luck would have it, there was only one wall not rigged to blow should an inmate attempt escape; the explosives clearly visible at the foot of each-All but the barrier just behind the two men.
