Chains of a past promise and sweet nectar of deceit will never be forgotten until the darkness engulfs even the sun.

Silver pools which rivals that of the solemn moon hanging above the night sky gazed at the other guests littering the grounds. He recognized some through the few gatherings which he had attended and the others requested a personal audience from him. As for the rest, he could careless about their existence. In truth, he did not care about anything else but his predetermined goal. Everything was done for that one reason. It is why his eyes soon focused before him. His hand holding another who belonged to no one else but his wife. Yes, the mate he had procured through force. He could feel her hesitation and apprehension. Whether it was because of him or the multitude of vampires, her hand tightened around his.

Not glancing at Haruka who was beside him, he walked on the entrance aisle. His undeniable presence and cold charisma were hard to ignore by the guests who littered the grounds. There was no doubt that they were irked, worried, and revered his presence. His bloodline was at the pinnacle of superiority and known to be the only pure-blood line that can compete with the King's lineage. Furthermore, the Nouralail was the terrifying executioners of vampires who would try to harm humans in selfishness and whim. It was also through them that hunters existed with the means of defeating their kind by the creation of anti-vampire weapons.

The Clan of Betrayers whom was also betrayed by the ones they sworn to protect. Life was truly a big irony. He knew that his stand is being debated by many. Others believed his sentiments were no longer aligned with his family's oath. Some concluded he would still continue to protect the humans due to his attendance of Cross Academy. Azriel never confirmed anything and remained ambiguous much like the darkness he is being constantly compared to. But, it is because of this trait of his that many are attracted to him. They desire to unravel the only remaining Nouralail pure-blood completely and even more so due to the sudden surprise of him taking in a partner, a human at that.

Once inside the grand hall, Azriel was instantly approached by the various upper echelons of the Vampire Society which included the Senators who had been invited by the mysterious host. Thus, it was not also completely out of place to see hunters present for this event. There was no way such a grand gathering would not be strictly and closely observed by them. The hunters were on their respective positions as they began their surveillance. They were more wary than ever and all hunters must have a partner with them to ensure their safety. Fortunately, he had managed to arrange the Kurosawa's to be assigned to a different task. Safe to say, they were not going to be in this place.

As for the vampires, everyone was clamoring around Azriel even if there were other pure-bloods present. Thus, it was obvious how annoyed they were at this. However, it could not be helped. No one has the audacity to garner Azriel's wrath by speaking out of their irritation. At the same time, it was not much of a surprise for the Nouralail scion to completely stood out from their ranks effortlessly. In addition, they were all curious about the orange-haired human girl beside him. The woman who had captured Azriel's eyes while many had tried to do so but failed miserably.

"Lord Azriel looks much like Lord Raziel."

"He has Lady Aiyana's eyes."

"Good evening your Highness, Lord Azriel. Is this lovely woman, your rumored wife?"

"It is finally an honor to meet and see you and your adorable wife for the first time!"

"What a beauty! No wonder, Lord Azriel was smitten."

"But, it is a surprise my Lord, why is she still human? Of course, there is no offense on that, I just believe my Lady Nouralail would be more suited to become a vampire."

"Speaking of which, we have yet to hear Lady Nouralail's name. Will you tell us your lady Highness?"

Everyone acted as if they were close and knew his parents. Moreover, they acted they knew him as well. They were also trying to gain favor through empty words by getting on Haruka's good side. Futile, it was truly. In any case, he would not divulge anything about her. She should be free to at least say what she wanted to share or to hide from these insipid lot. But to answer one of the question of about her being suited to be a vampire, he raised the hand he held and placed it near his lips. "She is already perfect as she is." He stated which left no room for arguments. Those eyes of ashen black gazed at the vampires that gathered around them with such cold reproach. From the point, they knew well that such questions would not be tolerated next time.

"How about a mistress? I don't think that would be a problem with you, Lord Azriel." A certain familiar voice chimed in the conversation. Everyone looked at the one who spoke in complete surprise for such a rather impolite remark especially in the presence of chosen wife of the Nouralail pure-blood. But upon learning who it was, they could only remain silent and keep their comments within the safety of their mind. For, it was none other than the Celestias Matriarch, Allessa who donned such an elaborate gown which fitted her perfectly. She was a vision indeed. "Unless, the Lady Nouralail says otherwise." Delivering an elegant bow, she then smiled at the pure-blood without fear or apprehension. The other thing she was known for is the recognition she had received from Azriel like none other ever had. How so?

"Allessa, there would be no one else." Yes, Azriel calls her by name and only her among the many other who tried to gain his trust and favor. Allessa was the only who received for whatever reason he does so. No one knows even the Celestias Leader. His answer made her nod in understanding as she finally directed her eyes on Haruka's form. She was there at Cross Academy when the incident happened. Does this girl do not feel resentment? Perhaps, she does. Yet for now, it was not something to be discussed. "It seemed no one else compares to you my Lady. I have yet to properly introduce myself." Smiling kindly, she continued on. "I am Allessa vern Celestias. I have seen you at Cross Academy. Pardon me for not introducing myself back then." Just like that, the stage was slowly being set.

Unknown to them, a pair of crimson-tinted eyes gazed at the spectacle with interest and amusement. This is the reason why a ball had been thrown. It was to entertain him and at the same time to prove a point. A fact that should be known by everyone. There was still some time before the curtains will be lifted. But once it does, there was no turning back. The final play was to begin and there were no audiences for everyone was a part of this intricate theater called life.

"It feels as if I am in an endless waltz with darkness. And I'm the only one tripping and falling."

It was disgusting how these vampires clamored around Azriel and Haruka. Their scents overwhelmed her senses and all she wanted to do was get away from the crowd, however; she couldn't do that. She couldn't let on that she was afraid of them, terrified of them as they hounded the two with questions. Then, they called her by that name. She hated the way it sounded, especially coming from the lips of those things. She wasn't a Nouralail...she was from the Toko family, whether these vampires knew of the Toko's or not, she was from that family. She didn't want to be a part of the Nouralail's. It was a forced marriage. She almost scoffed to herself as she thought about it. If these vampires knew, would they try to force their own daughters as potential mates to this vampire? It was obvious enough they were clamoring for his attention and favor. It made her want to vomit at how sickeningly nice these vampires acted around the Nouralail pure-blood.

She would have frowned and tried to move as far away from the crowding vampires, however; she forced a smile to her face and tried to keep the shivers from rolling down her spine. They continued talking, one even called her a beauty and the reason why Azriel was smitten. Oh how she wanted to scoff at that comment. He wasn't smitten, although she was partially reason why he had forced the marriage upon her. Well, more like her ability, which she had to keep in check. Her fear tends to bring out that aspect of her and she was trying so hard not to show case it. If these vampires knew she wasn't human, what would happen? She shook the thought from her mind and placed it into the deep abyss of her mind. She didn't need to be thinking about things like that. Not here at least with so many vampires present. She was somewhat relieved that her parents were tasked with another issue. She didn't want anything happening to them and it would force her hand if something did. She couldn't risk doing something so reckless and stupid.

She then heard a comment for her name. Did she want to interact with these things? Did she want to divulge something as her name to them? For some odd reason, it felt as if she did give them her name, they would use it as something to shackle to her and use it to their advantage. What a silly thought and feeling it gave for something so simple as a name to hold so much power over someone. Glancing around, she noticed a majority of the clothing the vampires were adorned in. Somehow, it made her feel as if she were underdressed. She was just adorned in a simple black dress, nothing too fancy and was enough to hide anything and everything that didn't need to be seen. She had despised clothing that was either fitting or revealed too much that was just unnecessary. If these vampires were trying to get on her good side, it was useless.

There was no way that she would even consider something like that. Just by being what they were had already sealed their fate. But then again, if it would irritate this vampire who forced her into this marriage, she could entertain these vampires for a bit. Even if it made her uncomfortable to do so, she would do it just out of spite. Before she could give the vampires her name, another spoke out, saying something about a mistress for Azriel. She frowned slightly at the comment Azriel stated as he brought her hand to his lips. She wouldn't mind if he had a mistress, at least then the other woman could probably occupy his attention away from her and she could finally be at peace. Or attempt to be at peace. The one comment about her being suited to be a vampire had really tugged at her voice as she wanted to laugh. If they only knew. Regardless, Haruka turned her attention to the blonde haired vampiress that had spoken. She returned the smile as she nodded in acknowledgment to the vampire.

"It's a pleasure to meet you. I am Haruka," she started to the blonde vampire. She recognized her from that incident. She had been the one to call out to Makoto just before he was killed. A painful feeling shot through her heart as she recalled that night. She still hated Azriel for killing the one person who could have given her answers to her father's whereabouts, but then again she would have never known Makoto had been her brother. Her face, however, did not reflect the painful feeling, but instead housed a polite and gentle smile. This charade was going to be tough to continue if she allowed herself to think of such things. For now, they shall be pushed to the back of her mind along with everything else. Although there was one thing that was irking her. The way everyone was addressing her as Lady. It wasn't a title she was familiar with holding and she didn't like the way people were stating it. It made her feel as if she were some object in a glass in casing that needed to be handled with the utmost care.

"Please, just Haruka will do. Lady is a bit much and I do not like the way it sounds," she continued, muttering the last part softly while smiling still. She truly didn't like it at all. It wasn't something she was accustomed to, however; more than likely she would have to get used to it. Being the wife of the only Nouralail pure-blood seemed to be an important status to these vampires. It was obvious with their eyes. She could see their disdain and disgust behind their facades and she didn't blame them. For that is the way she saw them. It didn't matter to her though what they thought of her. She could care less about it and honestly, she didn't want to be in this position in the first place. If she could do it over again, she wouldn't have allowed herself to be in that room or showcase her ability to the pure-blood. Maybe she would have allowed him to kill her, to finally end the nightmare of such a place, but this was just wishful thinking. She hadn't missed the way Azriel addressed the vampiress though.

"I am surprised he wasn't married to someone such as yourself, Allessa," she stated without meaning to. It was a thought in her mind that had slipped passed her lips and immediately she regretted doing so. The way she had stated it almost came out as a disappointment and envious tone. "Ah, forgive me I just meant that you are a lovely woman yourself and you both seem to be on good standing," she quickly corrected herself as she stared at Allessa. The woman before her obviously had some sort of standing with Azriel for him to address her by her first name. From what she had seen in the last few days, he only addressed certain people by their names. Namely the Lancaster vampiress whom she had heard to have returned to her family along with her cousin. Apparently she was being shipped off in marriage to another.

How sad this life truly was, to marry someone they did not love nor wish to be married to. If she were to ever bear children for someone, she would make sure that they did not follow in the traditional ways of being forced into a marriage. She wouldn't want that for them, even if she had to fight tooth and nail for such a thing, she wouldn't allow it. She sighed in embarrassment as her face flushed slightly. Odd that she would become embarrassed in front of a person, let alone a vampire, but the woman had a certain charm to her that Haruka couldn't ignore. Maybe it was the girl's smile or the way she casually spoke around Azriel. Who knew the reason, but maybe, maybe Haruka could allow herself to become enveloped by this girls' charisma and be comforted by it. Not to mention she would be able to control her fear a bit more if something familiar was around to comfort her.

“What strange places our lives can carry us to, what dark passages.”

Hikari stood alone on a balcony as the let the darkness wrap around her like a blanket. As soon as she had arrived to the Vampire packed party, she had slipped away. There were to many Vampire in one room for her liking, it was unnerving and it put her on edge so much she visibly shook. Of course it didn't help anything when Hiroshi Sayomi, a close friend of her's from the Academy and her escort of the night, had forced her to wear a dress, and not a very nice one. Well...it was nice of course, it was made of silk and it shined even in the moonlight, it was too nice, and much too revealing. The hem only reached as far as her finger tips, which was a little past her mid thigh, and it left her neck and most of her shoulders completely bare thanks to the thin short sleeves. It was a very nice dress, yes, but it was much to open for being pretty much the only human in a room full of Vampires. Kari was annoyed. Her 'escort' had left her so he could go 'mingle' with the rest of the Vampires.

A soft breeze suddenly blew by her, sweeping her dress and hair back gently, and allowing her warm porcelain skin a short release from the heat. Hikari allowed her eyes to flutter shut for a moment, enjoying natures gift while she could, before she became aware of another presence behind her. Her breath hitched as her left hand automatically went to were her sword was hiding in the shape of a pen in her bra, but a hand stopped her. "Why so nervous?" The voice was sickly sweet as a warm body pressed close to her back side, making her body tense and her blood boil in rage. "Has anyone ever told you that you smell...yummy." The taller man chuckled as she flinched, this is why she hated Vampires, nothing ever good happened around them. "Has anyone ever told you that your a creep?" She hissed angry before ripping her wrist from his grasp and spinning around to face the man.

What she was not what she was expected. In front of her stood a much taller pale with not only fire colored hair, but also...face paint. Yes, the man looked like a clown in a rather nice tux. He had a pink star on the left side of his face painted in and a blue tear on the right, making him look much like a fancy clown...it was strange. Very strange. "You know it's most likely never a good idea to go off alone during party's..." His eyes darted down to her cleavage before back to her face as a small smirk formed upon his lips. "You never know what could happen." The humor was evident in his voice, but Hikari found no humor in him ogling her, if anything she just felt violated and more pissed off than she had been a few seconds ago. "Bad things only happen when someone has bad intentions." She mumbled waiting for the moment when he would be distracted for a mere second so she could pull out her sword and get away from the psycho in front of her. "That's very true!" He said cheerfully while stepping closer to the white haired girl until he had her trapped between the railing of the balcony and himself. "I tend to have bad intentions through..." He mumbled his voice growing darker and deeper as he placed a hand on either side of Hikari.

The pale haired girl began to fidget, not only was this man invading her personal bubble, but he was also staring at her cleavage again, and of course, logically there was only one real way out of this, and that would be...well it would be a low blow. "Good for you!" She said in false cheerfulness before swinging her bare knee up to collide with his more...private areas. A loud groan escaped his lips as his stance changed slightly, both hands loosening on the railing behind her as he doubled over ever so slightly, giving her enough time to duck down under one of his arms and dart towards the double doors that would lead back to everyone else. However an arm hooked around her waist and forcefully smashed her back towards a very hard chest that knocked the air right out of her lungs. The man had a wicked grin now placed upon his face and had opened his mouth the say something that would most likely be very perverted, but another voice cut off his own. "Release her," A young boy with spiky white hair called out from behind the two, making them both turn their heads ever so slightly. Hikari recognized the voice right off the bat and relief fled through her body.

There stood Hiroshi, balancing himself on the railing and staring down at the man coldly. Slowly the mans arms went lax around her waist, and Kari was able to push away from him effectively. "Don't let me catch you touching her in such a manner ever again." Hiro's voice and eyes stayed cold and wrathful as he started at the man for a moment longer, before jumping straight over him and landing beside Hikari. "Come along Snow, we should rejoin the party, I have some people you should meet." His voice was gentle once again, and he didn't spare a second glance at the much taller, much older Vampire, he just pulled Kari back inside, silently stating that they were not to speak of what had just happened. "Sure...why not." She sighed a bored expression settling back onto her face.

She really should have just stayed home...

"Darkness and Light are synonymous. There is only a slit of difference. How one choose to be enveloped in it."

"Popular as always, Mr. I love humans." Every gathering such as this one would never be complete without a party crasher. Clearly, this position was dedicated for the man who sarcastically addressed the intimidating and powerful Nouralail pure-blood. All eyes were immediately on that person who spoke. Who had such an audacity to that to the black pure-blood. "You should learn to show your feelings more. It's not good to keep it inside." There was a degree of hostility perfectly wrapped in a sardonic remark. This person held no fear and apprehension towards the vampire who caused such threat to many. At the same time, this person seemed to know something by the way he spoke his words. "It's bad for the heart." Grabbing a champagne from the passing waiter, he took its scent before sipping some of it and then continued on with fake surprise. "I forgot you don't have a heart." There was not a smile on his mouth but those blue eyes held amusement.

Who was this person who suddenly appeared without much of a notice? Upon closer inspection, the hunters who were present and the vampires whom are quick to recall knew who was speaking so candidly. In truth, this person did not receive an invitation nor was he ordained by the Association to work as security for this large event. Actually, he had just returned from overseas due to some business matters. He simply did not have anything better to do at the moment. So, he swung by. He donned a tailored black suit with the touch of the sleek modern style. The hunters showed surprise and noticeable caution. This was the person who was known as Noctis among their circle and even within the vampire society. His reputation was nothing to scoff at and is known as the best of the best in his field as a hunter.

Adding to that, there was no denying that his looks could rival that of the pure-bloods specifically a certain one who had been deemed at the pinnacle. But, the most notable thing about him was the presence he exuded. An aura so similar to that of a vampire. Many had mistaken him to be one which started many dark rumors about his origins and possible past. Of course, all of these were just hunches and stories that never had been confirmed or backed by any evidence. He was a mystery much like the Nouralail pure-blood that he was looking at with those steel blue eyes of his. Obviously, he is not intimidated by the dark pure-blood who seemed to have a mate in form of a human or is it now? Somehow, there was something odd about the orange-haired girl.

Noctis knows of the sudden engagement of the only remaining Nouralail to a human. More than that, he also knew the tragedy that bestowed the so-called illustrious pure-blood family. A clan that had an alliance with the Association but suddenly it was destroyed with one swift action which led the almost extinction of a family known as the Clan of Betrayers. It was rather fitting to be ended by a betrayal. But in his opinion, he could not see it as such. Even if, they never showed aggression and had been friendly. Their existence will always be a threat no matter what. That was a cold hard fact. Anyway, he expected a very angry pure-blood bent on revenge but his silence was more dangerous than outright rage. He even took a girl of such interesting background. Oh, he knew who she was even her family who has yet to find this little arrangement.

"May be, that is why you put this young lady in such a perilous position." His eyes gazing at Haruka as if he knew who she is and then drifted towards the form of Allessa. He knew of the Celestias noble from the reports he received from time to time. A vampire who intends to keep the peace treaty. "Truly perilous." He then emptied the glass of wine which he had took earlier. Many felt that Noctis was overly rude in his statements but no one dared to protest from the crowds that had gathered. More importantly, the hunters find this very entertaining and enlightening. Actually, he had met the Nouralail pure-blood that one time. It was a very amusing meeting. Anyway, he had made sure this Lord Azriel would never forget.

Once the sun disappears from the horizon, it is then everything comes out like clockwork.

It was not unknown to Azriel that his wife feels uneasy and apprehensive of the vampires clamoring for his favor and probably for hers as well in a twisted game. This was the deceptive world of his kind. They were not elegant and noble creatures as they are wrongly perceived by the humans especially the Day Class students. Deep within the black of the night, they are dreadful monsters in the appearance of beauty. Just like how the Devil would showcase itself to avert apprehension and to cater trust and enchantment. So, it does not come as a surprise for them to be like that. They are of the Devil's in the end. A contract forged in blood and soul which could never be broken as they are told of.

Letting his thoughts end there. He focused on the conversation happening between Allessa and Haruka. It seemed the orange-haired girl chose to reveal her name to the attendees of this mysterious party. He did inform her that she will be used to get near him whether for good or bad intentions . It did not matter for it will be all for selfish reasons. Still, he would allow the girl this freedom of saying what she wants about herself. She should already know now that it was useless to go against him especially in such a situation. But did he note that a sense of disappointment in that tone of hers when she stated that he should have been married to the Celestias Leader. That would never happen in his lifetime.

The Nouralail pure-blood indeed has a unique way to show how he recognizes a person. If this was due to skills or personal preference, it will never be revealed that easily or declared openly. In any case, he never addresses anyone by their names even how amiable they are towards him or even how hateful he is towards them. He would resort to terms or objects he sees them as whether that to be pleasant or not depends on the person's opinion. So, it is considered a great achievement to have him call someone by name. Even then, there is considered a level of difference. Similar to the Lancaster vampiress, he calls her by the family name. He recognizes her as someone that exists nothing more and nothing else. As for the Celestias matriarch, he calls her by the first name. This meant that she is on a level of recognition both of certain significance.

In terms of Haruka, he does not like calling a person the same one since he also recognizes Kurosawa as an existence due to his past. As of now, he also recognizes his wife as an entity than an object which he opted to call her by name. But, it would only be sporadic unlike in the case of Lady Celestias. This is why many had noted the possibility of him taking in Allessa as his potential mate. It is why the female Senator had often gotten into arguments and debates. She would often told him as well that there would be random cat fights up and about for him. But in the end, he had chosen an entirely different person that no one knows of.

As for Allessa, she could not help but chuckle ever so delicately. It seemed the girl that Azriel had chosen was truly interesting. She had done a background check on this girl named Haruka. It was done out of concern. She did not want for this girl to be dragged into something dastardly that the pure-blood does not care for. This girl was from a hunter family which was odd as Allessa know of Azriel's hatred for such people. But, she was also aware of a certain linkage to that boy the pure-blood had killed out of spite. Makoto Nakajima. But further digging, she had unearthed that he is Makoto Toko. He descended from a pure-blood family that had suddenly been wiped out of existence. Then, he also established that Haruka was his sister.

Azriel had always been doing everything with reason. Never did the pure-blood did something by instinct or by emotions. All are placed in a meticulous plan despite how absurd it may have been done or presented. So, Allessa knew there was something more to what happened that night and the sudden marriage that Azriel had committed. But, what could it be? She would need to find out for his sake and this innocent girl. For now, "Thank you for such kind words, Haruka." Allessa noted with a smile as she reached out her hand for a handshake. "Please call me Allessa as well. Let's be friends unlike this ice block of a husband you have." This was also one of Allessa's privileges with the pure-blood. "You noticed my charm. Perhaps, it would be better for me to be your mistress." She playfully bantered to Haruka. Azriel merely scoffed at this comment in which Allessa giggled once more.

But, the pleasant atmosphere was instantly dispersed when someone addressed Azriel in a sardonic tone and remark. Silver black eyes trailed to the source of such a statement and he was not pleased at all. There before him was the man whom he had tried to kill when they met for the first time. But there was an interruption so, it never came to fruition. As of now, the pure-blood did not hide his dislike for the man who is known to many as Noctis. But to him, he knows him as pest. This man would always irate him with words that always strike a chord within him. Playing mind games with him and openly challenging him, was this the person who sent his invitation? He would not be surprised.

Those eyes of steel blue drifted to Haruka and Allessa as he noted something about them being in a perilous position. This person was threatening what was his with exposure. He could get the gist of what this man was running about with that mouth of his. What he knows about his wife was still undefined. However, he would not have any of it. Did he not say? He would protect her from the moment they were bound. Stepping forward, he placed Haruka behind him and then with his other hand motioned for Allessa to move aside in which she did so. "I would suggest to choose your next words carefully. I don't take kindly to anyone who would belittle or much harm my wife." His tone did not offer any kind of arguments and held such coldness that everyone who was listening flinched in fear. Those ash black pools of his held such deadly intensity as they met with steel blue ones in an electrifying stand-off. Much to the delight of an audience with crimson red eyes.

"Change can be two things. It can either be good, or it can be bad. How we interpert it, is up to us and the circumstances of the change."

Haruka hesitantly offered her own hand in response to the vampire before her. She chuckled at the woman's words and the scoff that left Azriel's lips. Well, two could play that game. Not that she wanted anything to do with the female vampire, she just thought it would be payback for the things the pure-blood had put her through. Before she could say anything, a presence made itself known to the group. The voice that spoke reverberated through the crowd and Haruka found herself staring at a young man with piercing steel blue eyes. She could feel the hostility between the two males rolling off in waves as she soon found herself placed behind Azriel. She blinked owlishly at the scene as it unfolded, listening to the words that left her husbands lips which only caused a frown to appear on her lips. She sighed softly as to not cause an unwanted action of sorts, however; there was a crowd forming around them. Immediately, Haruka found herself being whisked away and drowned in the crowd. She twisted and turned here and there to get away while everyone seemed to rush towards the pure-blood and human.

"Well...that was awkward," she stated as she turned to the crowd. She could see Azriel easily standing with his height and the other male. She knew that Azriel had told her to not to stray too far, but at the current moment, she wasn't going to be able to return to his side so easily. "There goes that plan," she stated. Sighing, she made her way through the crowd and found herself staring at a familiar sight. It was Hikari, the prefect of Cross Academy. She was the only human Haruka had not befriended due to the weird scent the girl produced. It wasn't something a normal human would ever emit, however; those thoughts were pushed to the back of her mind. She just wanted to have a sense of normalcy around a grandeur of vampires. The hunters were an exception though. Having lived with the Kurosawa family, hunters to her were not perceived as human enough.

She sighed, attempting to rub at her eyes before stopping. She was wearing make-up, and if she rubbed her eyes, she'd smear it. One of the many things she hated wearing the stupid stuff. It wouldn't be the first time, nor would it be the last should she smudge the stuff, and honestly she wouldn't have cared. But, because she was at this grand ball, she had an appearance to uphold. Whether it was because she was now known as the wife of the Nouralail pure-blood, or because it was just what one did when attending such things, she didn't know. She rubbed at her temples as she felt a headache approach. This place was truly going to be the death of her if she didn't step out to get a breath of fresh air. Without further adieu, she made her way towards an open balcony. A smile tugged at her lips as she approached the window. Glancing around, she made sure no one had followed her and stepped out into the moonlit balcony.

It had an ethereal beauty to it and Haruka found herself staring up at the moon hanging in the sky. A light breeze fluttered through, carrying her orange locks as she took a deep breath of air. It felt nice, the cool breeze against her heated skin. Keeping up a charade with such a large amount of vampires had been a bit more difficult than she had intended. Her body was trying to deal with the stress of the built up fear as best as it could, but it could only take so much. Something feel on her hand as she glanced down at the railing. She noticed the single droplet on her hand, and quickly she wiped her eyes. She couldn't show them this weakness of hers, not here at least.

She quickly made sure she hadn't smeared anything and made her way back into the building, taking one last glance outside. She'd rather have stayed outside than come back in, but without a doubt, he would probably throw a fit if she didn't return to his side soon. Did he even notice she was gone? Probably not. Maybe she'll mingle with the Tanaka human for a bit. It would be alright, wouldn't it? With that thought in mind, it didn't take long for Haruka to find and approach the white-haired girl. She seemed to be in a group of vampires just standing there. Perhaps they could save each other for a little bit.

"Were you dragged here by force too? Or were you invited?" she found herself asking. It was evident in her voice that she was trying to be a good guest, but the quiver of her lips signaled that she was indeed nervous. She tried to get it under control, biting at it softly without drawing blood. It was unsuccessful at keeping it from quivering, however; it did provide a short temporary relief of the fear. Focus on the pain and the fear will go out the door. Or at least for awhile. She stared at the white-haired girl, temporarily forgetting that her husband was in a stare-off with the other male. She needn't worry about him, he would be able to emerge unscathed. Not that she'd ever worry about him in the first place. She could care less if anything happened between the two. She was just a tool to the pure-blood, and as such, she'd make it so that he would regret making her his. Yes indeed, she would.

Or at least attempt to.

“So you see, Good and Evil have the same face; it all depends on when they cross the path of each individual human being.”

"Hikari I want you to meet-" She easily zoned out as the smaller white haired boy pulled her along by her hand, forcing her to shake hands and give the occasional hug to too many Vampires. Names were given, but none would be remembered. She honestly had no intention of getting to know these people, or ever seeing any of them ever again, the only people she did recognize were the other Hunters present in the large room, but Hiroshi refused to allow her to converse with any of them, so all she got when she was dragged by another hunter was the respectful bow of a head or a pity filled smile. "I'm hungry." Hikari suddenly stated in the middle of whatever conversation Hiro and the older man and woman before her were having. "Of course you are! Hiroshi-sama have you not fed her yet?" The old man flashed a charming smile towards Hikari that she returned with a blank look. She had no interest in making friends with these people, and she had the odd feeling they all were referring to her as 'the human' behind her back.

Hiro glanced at Hikari for a moment, being sighing in defeat and raising a hand to wave over one of the men carrying around trays of food as the man and woman disappeared into the crowd. Happily she snatched up two of the crackers that were on the tray and popped on of them into her mouth, no even contemplating what the strange brown substance on top would be. She smiled down at the smaller boy before speaking in a quieter voice. "This is really good! What is it?!" She grinned while swallowing. Hikari was about to pop the other one into her mouth, but stopped when Hiro spoke once more in a seemingly amused tone. "Liver." She gagged and quickly threw the other cracker on to a tray that was passing by her before she spun around and glared at the grinning child. "Now I have a few more people you should meet, their very important." She reached out and easily grabbed her hand before dragging her back into the crowd of Vampires. How troublesome.

Hikari would have ignored the invitation and stayed home with her adoptive parents and just locked herself in her room for the night, but she couldn't blow off the small white haired Pure-Blood, there was no way she could say no when he presented the dress to her. She had allowed herself to be dragged off to this dreadful event and now she was regretting it with all her heart. I could be home eating ice cream right now, but instead I just ate Liver. This couldn't end soon enough. She sighed and stood in the middle of a Vampire crowd, most of them talking with Hiro about the Hunters that were present, but a voice that was familiar rang out from behind her, making her turn around and nearly scream in relief. "Were you dragged here by force too? Or were you invited?" Hikari instantly smiled at Haruka, just because she knew the girl beside her.

"Both actually, for some reason I got an invitation, which I could have ignored, but that shrimp-" She jabbed her thumb in Hiroshi's direction before continuing "-dragged me here with a fancy dress and promises of good food." Hikari wrinkled her nose in disgusted and sent a peeved look to one of the trays of food that passed by. "I don't know how anyone can eat liver, but that can not be considered good food." her eyes traveled over to where Haruka's husband stood, flinched slightly, and when directed her eyes towards the boy in front of Azriel. Why did that boy look so familiar? She felt like she had seen her somewhere before...oh well. Hikari shook her head and turned back to Haruka with a small smile. "How have you been?" She asked politely.

"Everything has always an ending. There are no exemptions."

So, the pure-blood still remembers. Ciel could feel the dark tension emitting from the Nouralail vampire. Moreover, Azriel was not hiding it from everyone else. It is why he found it very interesting to see him bound to someone. As an added factor, the one he was bound to was also an individual with eccentricities. The words that spilled from the pure-blood's lips were not enough to discern his suspicions. It was not in Azriel's nature to be emotionally attached to anyone. This much Ciel was certain. There was something more to this than what was being seen.

In any case, he did not waver from meeting Azriel's eyes. If the pure-blood think Ciel would waver or flinch, he had another thing coming. He would not submit or run away if this so-called executioner would provoke or instigate a fight. That is why it is understandable why a crowd gathered around them like moths to a flame. After all, it is not everyday that one could bear witness to a fight between a pure-blood and a hunter. If only they knew, the true meaning of this meeting. If only they knew what the future hold, this would not only be a passing entertainment for sure.

"My words are always chosen perfectly." Ciel retorted with such a monotone voice. His eyes never leaving Azriel's form. Blue met black. Somehow, there was no one else in the room but them. "It is why you reacted well enough with a threat." After saying that, he smirked at the pure-blood. He did not care if they would kill each other here and now. It was about time they end that unfinished business of theirs. Such a long time had passed since then, this was the perfect opportunity. But before he could do so, he felt a hand gripping on his shoulder. His eyes moved away from Azriel as he looked at the one who was interrupting him. "That's enough Noctis."

The black hunter narrowed his eyes in annoyance and disdain. "Red. I thought I ditched you." The man released a sigh at this. Noctis always attempts to escape from his watch which never lasts for very long. Even now, he went here by himself without informing him which was completely wrong. Fortunately, Noctis was predictable for him while for others he is an enigma every step of the way. "You thought wrong." Ciel knew that his fun was now ruined. There was no way he would be able to start a fight with the pure-blood with Red being around him. "Tch." This was all he could do as he angrily removed the hand on his shoulder. Red as he is now known ignored this and then looked at the pure-blood. He now believed all the rumors about the Nouralail Lord was not a lie at all. "I apologize for any troubles. If you would excuse us."

Once that was said, Ciel narrowed his eyes in irritation but not before shooting Azriel a glare in accordance with some meaningful words. "See you soon." He then turned his back at them and left in which the crowd provided a path for him. Red shook his head at this. Noctis can be childish in regards to his personal actions but when it comes to others. He is awfully the opposite. Giving Azriel one more apology, Red followed Noctis as they soon disappeared from the pure-blood's sight. The night was still young and the main event has yet to began.

"Fear is apart of us. Everyone fears something, however; as long as there are others willing to share it with you, it becomes bearable."

Haruka forced a smile on her face as Hikari explained her ordeal. At least it was better than her own. She didn't have much of a choice when she attended this ball. She would have rather stayed at the estate, however; he had made it very clear that she was to accompany him. Well, that had not gone exactly the way she had planned really. She was told not to stray from his side, and here she was making conversation with the white-haired prefect of Cross Academy. She chuckled lightly at the mentioning of liver tasting good. Liver, if prepared properly and paired with the right foods, was actually delicious. She loved eating liver, well not really but it was something she could tolerate. She shook her head as Hikari inquired about how she was doing.

"Well, besides being forever bound to an ass, forced to come here and feel under dressed, I think I am doing pretty well at the moment," she stated as she turned to stare at the white-haired girl. Her dress seemed to be made of silk and far more fitting to be at the ball. This caused Haruka to shrivel back a bit and tugged at her own hemline of her dress. There was nothing she could do about it now. Besides, she wasn't here to impress anyone nor garner any unwanted attention. Especially from them. She truly hated the way the vampires had crowded around her and Azriel the moment they stepped inside the building. They were like leeches waiting for a drop of blood to be spilled so that they could latch onto something. Leeches indeed. She sighed as she turned to stare at the darkness incarnate of a husband and noticed that the male that received his threat was no longer there. Instead, he was walking away from the pure-blood with another man in tow behind him.

"Sorry I can't stay longer but if I don't return to his" she stated, jabbing her thumb towards Azriel, "side soon, I am afraid of what might happen," she finished and gave Hikari an apologetic smile. She slowly made her way through the crowd, avoiding the inquires of the curious vampire nobles who were trying to grab her attention. She didn't want to speak with them about anything nor did she have the intention of mingling with them. She just wanted this night to be over with. Before she could return to his side, however; the short sniffles and hiccups echoed through her ears as Haruka turned to the source. There, knelt to the ground, was a green-haired vampire child. She was crying about something, and Haruka tried to force herself to move on. The girl was a vampire and not her concern, however; she couldn't deny the fact that it was still just a child. With a sigh, she made her way towards the little girl and knelled down beside her, placing a hand on the girl's head that seemed to be adorned in a skull-like hair piece.

"Why are you upset?" Haruka asked as the girl turned to face her. A small smile plastered itself on her face as the girl tried to rub her eyes to dry them of the tears. "I didn't mean to scare you. My name is Haruka, what's yours?" she stated as her smile widened a bit, trying to comfort the small vampire girl as best as she could. The child remained silent, almost as if she were contemplating whether or not she should give this strange orange-haired woman her own name. The smile, however; was warm and inviting that the young girl couldn't help but glance away with a flustered face, causing Haruka to giggle lightly.

"Nial" the child spoke. Haruka's gaze softened as she released the girl's head from her grasp and placed her hand on her knee. "And I wasn't crying!" she added as she buried her face in the long coat she was covered in. Haruka merely continued to keep the smile on her face before an amused eyebrow rose. Nial glanced up at the stone-eyed girl and couldn't help but frown. "They...they scare me so much," the little girl finally stated. Haruka glanced in the direction Nial pointed to and frowned slightly. It would have been a bit ironic if the girl had pointed to her own race, however; she was pointing towards the hunters, more specifically the one that had just conversed with her husband. So, even vampires could fear something, but this one was just a child.

"I'll tell you a secret then," Haruka stated as she grinned at the little girl. "They are nothing to be frightened of. They are just big cuddly...teddy bears!" she stated as she tried to get the girl to calm down. It seemed to work a bit as the girl giggled at the expression on Haruka's face. In turn, Haruka gave the girl a thumbs up as she winked. For the moment, she had completely forgotten that she was in a building full of vampires. She had forgotten her fear temporarily. This small child, even though she was a vampire, had gave Haruka a small purpose and because of it; she was allowed to be free of her fear for a moments time. If only she could be like this more often.

"I am sure your parents are looking for you now. You should return to them," Haruka stated as she rubbed the girl's head in an affectionate manner. Nial nodded her head and gave Haruka a hug, something that had taken the orange-haired girl completely off guard. She hesitantly returned it as Nial bounded off towards wherever her parents were lingering. The small warmth she had felt was slowly dispersing, and she wanted to grasp at it longer.

Everything will be released even the darkness shall take flight in the wings of naught.

Death was enough for this hunter. At this very moment, Azriel wanted to torture this man until he could see hell as an escape. It was also obvious to everyone that the pure-blood was angry. The tension in the air crackled like snapping thunder. There is also a dark aura emitting from the black vampire who knew no reprieve when it comes to those who disregard his authority and play with his pride. Many had witness the violent tendencies of pure-blood. It was not never pleasant at all. "Then die." Azriel stated this, however before anything could be done by him, another individual entered the picture. Unlike the arrogant hunter, this person had more common sense.

An apology was given to his person. At the very least, this made the pure-blood a bit lenient in his temper. It further improved when the two men left his presence. Yet, the mysterious words left by the one known as Noctis had a certain impression on the pure-blood. What did he exactly meant by that? He never wanted to see that man again. If he did, he was certain that it would not bode well mostly on the part of that pest. There would be another death in the near future and he was actually looking forward to it. Once the tension seemed to ebb away, the vampires once more surrounded the Nouralail pure-blood.

They voiced out their concerns and as well and even bad-mouthed the hunter who had dared to pick a fight with him. All of their statements meant nothing to him. Except for one, "You know how to pick them, Lord Azriel." Eyes of onyx gazed at Allessa who was currently looking at the departing form of Noctis. The Celestias Senator felt the friction between the pure-blood and the top-tier hunter. She had heard of this Noctis. He is quite the lore and boogeyman of the vampires. In which, the King and now the Nouralail are the counterpart of it to the humans and hunters. It was indeed very interesting. Feeling the eyes on her form, she meet Azriel's eyes and smiled with amusement. "I like it when you make friends but do avoid playing too much."

His response was only to look away. This made Allessa smiled even more brighter. As for the pure-blood, he finally noticed the missing presence of his so-called wife. His eyes narrowed at this displeasure and searched through the crowd for that irritating color of orange. Noticing the subtle change in Azriel demeanor, Allessa soon noticed the disappearance of Haruka. This was rather dangerous but before she could say anything about it. The pure-blood had already made his way through the mass of people. He had finally zoned on the figure of the girl which had become much of an annoyance to him. "I believed I have already told you not to leave my side." His voice echoed behind the girl who appeared to be busy in her own thoughts.

Those eyes of black gazed at Haruka with such eerie coldness and frightening threat. Although, it was clouded with feigned politeness. After all, there was still a picture and a reputation they have to maintain. He did not wait for a response and instead grabbed hold of her arm and pulled her up. This girl has truly the audacity to consistently irate him and even disobey his words from time to time. "Stay with me." His words when heard by others would think that he was truly in-love with his wife. Yet, the true meaning of that statement is well-hidden in the blackness of irritation and uncertainty. As he was about to drag Haruka away, the lights within the hall dimmed and a voice filtered through the large area.

"How is everyone this evening?" Finally, the host of party had made its entrance. All attention was on the figure descending from the grand staircase. Some was not certain who had such a great scope of magnificence. The mystery and the lure of seeing such important individuals such as the pure-bloods made it attendance to this party a must. But, the question still remained. Who was this person covered with a black cloak and the face hidden behind a hood. "I hope everyone enjoys this night to their utmost pleasure." From voice alone, it could be identified that this was a man. Then, there was this certain familiarity in terms of the presence it exuded.

"This is to begin a new page in history." Azriel narrowed his eyes at this. He has a bad feeling about this person. Every fiber of his being was telling him to erase this cloaked figure from reality. However, he remained his stoic persona in place. As for Allessa, she had tried to retrieve some information about the organizer of this grand event. However, she had come up with anything. Everything about this was very tight-lipped which only further her suspicions and curiosity. So in the end, the puzzle can only be solved by attending the event. Hopefully, this was not going to be the end of all as we know it. Still, the words spouting out from the cloaked person hardly connotes of world peace.

"Your King has finally returned." That statement was accompanied by the unveiling of that person's appearance. The cloak was removed and was replaced by white feathers falling around his form. Distinct black hair and those penetrating crimson eyes gazed at the crowd with amusement and superiority that only he should possessed. Most of vampires immediately bowed in reverence as the very aura he exuded entails such authority and regality that only the King of Vampires owned by right. However, there are others who remained standing. The hunters remained on their feet but surprised marred their faces. One of them was Azriel who looked at the one who calls himself King. The other pure-bloods had fallen to his spell of hierarchy. "As always, the Nouralail opposes me. Just like your forefathers." Azriel did not removed his gaze on the host of this party. It seemed he is the one responsible for that invitation. "I will never bow to anyone more especially to you." Hearing those words, the King cannot help but smile in pure entertainment. He had expected as much. "Let's begin then." Those eyes of his glowed an eerie crimson as the lights returned to its normal intensity and feathers began to fall all around them.

“And there is nothing more dangerous in this world, in any world, than someone calm, clear and angry.”

Hikari smiled brightly at Haruka as she left, returning to her husband before he had time to freak out over her missing. Part of her was sure that he knew Haruka had been talking to her, he would kill him, which wasn't the most pleasant thought. However, now she was alone once more. She sighed silently and maneuvered around the room, trying to find a way out, she had stayed much to long, she had no interest in staying any longer, Hiro wouldn't even notice that she was gone, and he could go about his little party as he pleased, he didn't have to drag her around to meet all of his little vampire friends. "Hikari, come over here." She nearly groaned aloud at the sound of the smaller boy's voice, but she complied, following him through the crowd and towards another group of Vampires who all swarmed around her and treated her like the cutest little puppy they had ever seen. These people need to get out more... She winced as one of them reached over and squeezed her cheek with the scar, a shot of imaginary pain shot up her spine making her flinch and memory's resurface.

Suddenly, before Hikari could do anything to get these people-thing-away from her, the lights dimmed and a voice filled the air. Upon hearing the voice, everything went black. Hikari no longer stood in the large ballroom, but instead in a broken throne room. Half of the beams that were holding the roof up had fallen in on themselves, broken and falling apart. The ground had gaping holes within it and there were piles of ashes everywhere. A voice beckoned to her, drawing her legs forward she took five steps, and then stopped. Before her stood a stunning woman with long snow white hair and a blood stained blue dress on, in her arms she held two child, twins, one boy, one girl. "Everything will be fine, my darlings, we are going somewhere safe." She rocked them each gently while staring at them lovingly, Hikari almost like as if she...knew this woman somehow. "My Queen! We must leave before the castle gives out!" An unknown male voice cut through the air, making the woman turn and stare. "Where is my husband?" Her eyes were wide and a look of horror had plastered it'self across her face. "I'm sorry, he had yet to be found, but we must get you out." The rushed forward and pulled the woman out, through the doorway, each child still in her hand.

Panic set in Kari's chest, and her feet moved on their own, pulling her forward as she raised a hand to the woman, she didn't want her to leave yet, she wanted to look at her one more time, she didn't want to be left alone, her mouth open to cry out for the woman, to beg her to come back, but another voice shot through the air, making the landscape around her slowly disappear like smoke in the air. "Hikari you need to leave." She blinked her eyes as they came back into focus, and was horrified to find that she had taken a few steps towards the strange man on the stairs, and her hand was raised slightly, as if to beckon him towards her. She quickly dropped her hand and spun around towards Hiro, confusion clear on her face. "I never would have thought...I'm sorry Hikari, you need to get out before he no-" Suddenly everyone around her, minus the hunters, Azariel, and Haruka, were on their knees, bowing down to the man who appeared in feathers.

Timidly she reached out with both hands and allowed a stray feather to land in them, confusion flickered across her face once more as a strange feeling filled the pit of her stomach. Danger. Her breath hitched as she allowed the feather to fall to the ground, within seconds she had her sword out, something took over her body, making her rush towards Azariel, the Pure-Blood she disliked whole heartily, and Haruka, the girl who would be caught in the middle of a horrid battle between the two men once it started. Suddenly she stood in front of Haruka, crouched down in a slightly protective stance as she held her sword in one hand, and the other was behind her, pushed Haruka further from the strange man who called himself 'The King' something was spreading through out her body, making her tense. This man had danger roll off of him, it was clear that he had no good intentions here, and it was clear the Pure-Blood to her left wasn't pleased with this man, and that could only mean one thing.

Something strange took over her body, and she bowed ever so slightly towards the Nouralail "My lord-" My what?! "If you intend to fight this man, please allow me to watch over Haruka." She made it clear in her tone that she was not trying to help him in anyway, she just wished to keep Haruka safe from the man that stood before them all. She wasn't sure why she addressed the Nouralail as 'My lord' but part of her felt like if she wanted him to trust her enough to keep Haruka out of harms way, she needed to be respectful, however even if he said no, she would still protect the girl, it was her duty as a Prefect of Cross Academy, even when she was not at the Academy it was her job to be a Guardian. That title applied to Humans and Vampire alike, so if she needed to protect Haruka, she was going to, there was no way she would be returning to the Academy with a broken Haruka.

"And so the darkness returned. To fear the darkness would be considered normal...wouldn't it?"

Haruka continued to stare at the empty space in front of her. She missed the small girl already, which she found odd. She missed the presence of a vampire. Of all things, she would have scoffed to herself if she hadn't been so adamant at not looking like an insane person. With a sigh, a very familiar presence caused Haruka to glance around. She couldn't understand why until her eyes zoned in on the one known as Azriel Nouralail, or otherwise her husband. She sighed as he grabbed her arm and lifted her up from her crouched position. She knew she wasn't supposed to leave his side, but what choice did she have when the group formed around them? It had felt like a vacuum pulling her in as they drowned her away from the pure-blood. Plus, she was on her way back to his side. She didn't want to be here any more than he did, let along be in his presence. But even then she couldn't give in to her own emotions. They were putting up a front for these vampires so his reputation wouldn't be tarnished.

"It's not my fault the crowd you drew drowned me away. I was on my way back as soon as the crowd dispersed," she retorted in a light whisper as to not allow the disdain of the way the words were stated to reach the delicate ears of the vampires. She could see the threat lingering behind his ashen colored eyes as he continued to speak. She could only recoil at the intensity. She didn't have much of a choice if she wanted to stay with him or not. Although others around them might have misinterpreted those words as something more meaningful, Haruka had not. She was slowly coming to terms with the fact that she wouldn't be free from those shackles around her that he had placed. There would be nothing but misery in the end for her, but even then, why would she be the only one to suffer? She could feel him about to drag her away when the lights dimmed and a figure stepped out into the staircase.

"A grand entrance," Haruka muttered as she resisted the urge to pull her hand away from the pure-bloods. The voice that echoed through the halls was obviously that of a male's voice, however; the next set of words that followed caused Haruka to raise an eyebrow. "King?" she found herself repeating, although it was more of a question than a statement. "The King of what?" she muttered before her question was answered. Immediately, vampires, nobles and pure-bloods alike, began to bow before this man. She glanced around as some were forced on their knee's while others willingly bowed to the man. Haruka was confused as to why the sudden appearance of this man had such an affect on the vampires. Her father never mentioned anything about a man, let alone a King of vampires. Perhaps it was because it wasn't important to them? Whatever the reason, she was now standing slightly behind Azriel, trying her hardest to conceal herself.

Something felt odd. It was as if something familiar was radiating from the man and she found herself taking a step forward, however; she snapped out of the trance and remained where she was: by Azriel's side. The man then addressed Azriel as the two exchanged colorful words. It seems that the man had a vendetta against Azriel's family, or at least his tone of voice said so. Haruka could feel an immense fear of the man wash over her like a cold wind forcing it's way down her throat. And yet, oddly enough, the fear had subsided against the familiarity she had felt. This feeling was like a contradiction. She didn't know if she should be fearful of the man or happy to see him. Whatever the reason, it was short lived. Hikari had appeared before them and called Azriel Lord which seemed to confuse both girls. Haruka then heard Hikari speaking of protecting her. She almost scoffed at the notion. It wasn't out of respite, but more because of the words that Azriel had spoken. He had said she was under his protection, even if he wanted nothing to do with the orange-haired girl.

"Hikari, I'll be fine. I can take care of myself. There are things that you and the others should attend to first," Haruka replied to the girl as she laid a comforting hand on her shoulder. "And I doubt Azriel will allow such a thing, so please, look out for the others who need it most," she continued. It was partially true, Haruka could take care of herself if it came down to it. She was raised by hunters to be a hunter. She could act as one if need be, however; the aura Azriel and the mysterious King radiated was one of insurmountable power. She wouldn't be able to do anything against the man who called himself King if something happened to Azriel. But then again, there was this strange feeling in the pit of her stomach that if he had tried to do something, she would let him.

And that scared her.

"This is where fantasy and reality meet."

In various books and verses, the King, the first contractor, had been portrayed with fear and admiration. Contradictions were always present but this person became an icon, a god to his kind. He is the progenitor of the vampire species. But as time forged on, mentions about him became nothing more but a mere whisper of a myth. His past became a passing fancy that are spoken to children as a bedtime tale. Even the Devil had been reduced to a mere symbol through the antiquity of it all. No one was certain anymore if they were true figures or just simply an object of power. Now, no one can the stories of yore were fleeting fantasies.

Before all of them, a vampire overflowing with such silent strength, a presence that made almost everyone fall to their knees in submission, a silken voice that entraps, and those gleaming eyes of red that haunt were all true. Rasui could feel the excitement flowing through his veins. His very existence was placed into a world where the King and even the Devil were the beginning and the end. As of now, the one entity of his reason was here standing in such grandeur and arrogance. It also meant that the Devil is also real and not mere hearsay. The true source of this nightmarish creatures.

He could feel the beating of Gilgamesh. The yearning and recognition it possessed for the master that it had been stolen from. This enough alone for Rasui to conclude that there was no mistake or fallacy in the declaration of the one who had hosted this party. It was only right that he had chose to attend this event. If not, he would have missed the opportunity to personally topple the top gun of the vampire hierarchy. Aiming to do so, he felt that familiar hand being placed on his shoulder. He was to be prevented to do anything once more. "That guy is real, Red. Don't stop me."

Red's hand gripped tighter on the younger man's shoulder. It is the truth that Noctis was created for this sole purpose. However, it was not the time to unveil him. The Devil was yet to be found. Until then, Noctis must remain a secret. "It's not time yet." Stopping for a moment, he glanced towards the Nouralail pure-blood and the girls who surrounded the vampire. It did not go unnoticed by him the certain hostility between the King and Azriel. There had been records that the only pure-blood clan that had opposed the Vampire King's regime was the Nouralail. "Until that person shows. Don't do anything hasty. For now, we must learn and watch."

Noctis was very disappointed. He would have finally tested his mettle with the Vampire King. At the same time, he would take on that Nouralail pure-blood. But as Red had stated, the one he needed to kill the most has yet to be found. Until then, he must be patient. Looking around, the vampires were no concern of the hunters really. They were only here to ensure that this vile creatures would not do anything shady and forbidden. However, there are some humans present. Specifically, the one lingering around the black pure-blood. There was no way that this party would end peacefully. This is what everyone thinks.

Every hunter present gripped to their weapons. The man who called himself King delivered a presence so enormous that it was choking them. Noctis narrowed his eyes as he watched the exchange between Azriel and the King. He could use this bad blood to his advantage. For now, he readied himself for any eventuality. Especially when the King declared to begin. Begin what exactly? But those eyes of red glowing maliciously could not mean a good thing at all.

There are no greater amount of gold and treasure can compare to the ransom of a King's freedom from the chains of captivity.

The feathers of white continued to fall down like snow. Where it came from, it cannot be ascertained. When will it end, no one knows. One thing was for sure, the being standing with the reverence of those who bowed before him was truly a dangerous entity. Whether he is the true King of lore, it does not matter for he single-handedly made everyone submit by mere words and presence. His crippling aura exuded unsurpassed authority and a choking sensation much like the darkness which the Nouralail pure-blood possessed. Truly, the past of the King and the evanescent Clan of Betrayers is entwined even more so now. It was evident in how they spoke to each other as well.

Those eyes of emanating red scoured the crowd who still remained on their feet. There was the Nouralail pure-blood, the infamous wife of his, the hunters, and the girl who looked like that pathetic woman. Yes, he had gathered all of them here from the very beginning for one purpose. It is to announce his return and with that a revolution will begin once more. Descendants or not, they must bow in loyalty to him. Those who would not will be given the prize of a torturous death. No one is exempted from that even if they are related to him by blood. He is King and all of them must submit to him.

"Isn't this delightful. You are surrounded by people who carries my blood." His eyes focused on the figures of Haruka and Hikari. There was malice hinted with humor in that gaze of his. It is why they were here in the first place. They were meant to return to his side even if their ancestors were people who linked to him in the past with utmost disdain. "My children would you dare defy me for that man who clings to light but brings forth darkness?" He walked forward and the crowd who knelt to him remained still. The King did not worry about the hunters they would not do anything hastily unless they intend to start a war in a place they are greatly outnumbered. Everyone was inside the mouth of the best. One wrong move can bring them to the pits of acid. "I forget. How are your parents especially that enticing mother of yours?" He asked with such flirtations and despite that it released from his lips like a wonderful compliment.

Azriel's ash black eyes were now hazed into a deeper obsidian. King or not, he has no right to talk like that about his mother. No one has that privilege. Descendants of the King? His tool? The stupid prefect? He had no care for such things. They can be descendants of the gods if they wanted to be. To him, they will remain as his intended designation to them. When he was young, his father had spoke of this being as an enemy of their family due to his aspirations to recreate this world solely for the vampires. Humans will be treated as cattle. Everything will crumble but, there was one thing this man fears most. It is why his soul was cast to the abyss.

"I find your invitation tasteless." The King smirked at this as Azriel released Haruka's hand in which Sodom finally appeared and descended on her shoulder. The Nouralail pure-blood walked forward to meet the King mid-way. "Your children?" There was disdain in that tone of his. "You must have forgotten. You may be king. But, we are all bound to one entity in the end. Our god. The Devil." Hearing that name, the King's amused expression turned into one of irritation. Yes, the Devil was indeed the King's greatest source of animosity. The being who brought him to a tainted dream he now revels in. As a response, the feathers that had littered the marbled floor turned into black slime figures. "I remember that always. I will kill the Devil."

Silver-black eyes did not leave the King's form. He did say that he would not let anything happen to Haruka and he will keep that word. It is why Sodom beside her and he even would put a bit of belief in what that prefect who is out of of her jurisdiction to do as she had stated to him. Furthermore, he would allow Haruka to wholly protect herself, make use of her abilities whether it to be as a hunter or as a vampire. She can choose that freely just once. "It is why I will start with the family who answers to that false god." With those words, the slime figures rushed towards Azriel who remained in his position. He was not threatened at all as the King's minions simultaneously attacked him which covered him in an explosion.

"Lady Haruka! Let's break for it!" Sodom pointed out as he flew before her and then landed on the floor. A bluish-black light covered Sodom's form and when it subsided, the black furball was now a black wolf. "Master says to get you out of here!" He then directed his eyes of gold to the white-haired female who stated to his master that she will protect Haruka in his stead. His Master said to make use of that testament. "Miss White! Let's do this!" After stating that, Sodom bit gently onto Haruka's dress hemline and tugged her away from the King and his Master. As long as Haruka was fine, his Master is still alive. But for the trio, what awaited was a group of noble and pure-blood vampires who seemed keen on doing an order from the King.

For the group of hunters and a specific man named, Noctis. The King did not forget them. They will serve as his declaration to the humans that the end for their stupid reign has come to pass. They were also entertained with other vampires and a certain noble vampire who was fighting the control but was helpless. "Lord Azriel..." Allessa murmured softly as she raised her hand and delivered a spear molded from starlight into the heart of a hunter. She bit her lower lip in sadness and despair. "Forgive me." Until her eyes met with very distinctive steel blue, the man who seemed to know Azriel from another time. She could feel such intimidation from a hunter who ranks at the top.

On the other hand, Azriel emerged unscathed once the dust cloud cleared up. It seemed that the attack did not even reached him. "You should do better than that." The Nouralail pure-blood taunted in which made the King smile in malicious glee. He knew what this lone pure-blood can do and why he is revered despite being the only one to remain in his bloodline. "I know. It is why he will fight you in my place." He? Azriel's eyes held a hint of confusion but soon, it turned into a great amount of disbelief. His eyes widened and he did not care for anyone to see the shock in his face. The King was pleased with Azriel's reaction just as he had expected. Now, isn't this an entertaining party?

“...it is by our actions that we are destroyed or saved. The choice is ours.”

Hikari ignored Haruka's protests and instead focused on the men before her, the Pure-Blood did not seem to disagree with her willingness to protect his so called wife, so she could keep the girl safe, even if she could protect herself. She listened as the 'King' and Azriel conversed while trying to push away the forbidding feeling that was pooling inside of her stomach, making her fill more uneasy than she had been in a long time. Something just didn't settle right with the way the dark haired man had looked at her while speaking of his descendants. Surly he hadn't been looking at her, but instead Haruka, there was no way Kari was related to that man. She felt sick just thinking about it, she was human, and he was not.

Hikari had human parents at one point in her life...hadn't see? Her real parents were human...right? She lowered her sword a fraction of an inch, something in her gut telling her that this man, the 'king' as he called himself, had all of the answers to her questions...but at the same time. She raised her sword back up, a steely look taking place in her eyes as everything around her abruptly descended into chaos. As Azriel's familiar turned into a large black wolf and called out to her by calling her 'Miss White' Hikari tensed her her legs bolting after the familiar that was pulling Haruka along by her dress.

She knew what their task was, they were going to get Haruka out of this building and away from that man, however once Hikari was sure the other girl was safe with the familiar, as far as possible, she would return and try to help the hunters that were now being attacked by the Vampires in the room, each of them following a silent order. "We can get out through the balcony over there, I doubt we'll get out the front doors in one piece." She nodded to the right towards the double doors she had escaped through earlier, it wasn't a long drop down and it would make the perfect escape route. Hikari moved around Haruka swiftly, blocking any attack from another Vampire as if she knew it was coming before it did, however there was something off about their attacks, they only seemed to be deadly when it came to the Hunters, not to Hikari and Haruka.

"I'm sorry. Hikari tensed and spun around at the last second, blocking what would have been a painful jab to the shoulder from the smaller boy, who landed a few feet in front of her. "Hiroshi? Why did you just try to..." Her chest tightened as sadness flashed through the white haired boys eyes before it was replaced with an empty look. So that's how it is... Her eyes narrowed as Hiroshi raised a hand, two finger pointing towards herself and Haruka while the thumb pointed towards the roof. "Get down," She snapped, grabbing the front of Haruka's dress and jerking the girl to the ground along with the familiars head, just in time for a bolt of blue electricity to pass over their heads and hit the wall behind them. Hikari stood back up swiftly, pointing her sword at the small boy with a look of displeasure set upon her face. "That's called cheating." She sighed before glancing over her shoulder at the familiar, she kind of wished she knew the animals name. "Get her outside, I'll distract him and anyone else who gets in your way." A small smirk formed on her lips as her form changed to one of a fighting stance, each of him limbs tensing as she allowed her face to settle into a cold mask. I should have brought another sword... She grimaced while ducking down to the ground and grabbing a small quiver full of throwing knives off the person of a dead hunter. She could care less at the moment if it was disrespecting the dead, it was better then nothing.

Hikari moved with Haruka and the familiar, protecting them from attacks as much as possible by using the throwing knives and her sword to the best of her ability, when ever Hiro tired to use his little lightning power on them, she would throw one of the knives towards his feet, making him jump back and lose his focus nearly every time, however when that didn't work she was forced to moving the other two out of harms way, she was certain Azriel wouldn't be thrilled if she got Haruka and his familiar electrocuted, through she was sure the look on his face would be priceless. Suddenly, her eyes narrowed and she flew forward, her sword swinging around until it was mere inches from Haruka's face, but not in an attempt to attack, she was blocking the steel cards that flew towards the girls head. "Ooh I love how fast you are! Very nice!! The man dressed as a clown from earlier clapped his hands together gleefully while Hikari flinched. "There is no way in hell we're dealing with this predo right now." She hissed, spinning around and grabbing Haruka and the familiar before dragging them away from the now pouting man and into the crowd, towards the balcony doors. He didn't seem to mind through, Ero turned back towards the hunters around him, which he mindlessly slaughtered, he would be seeing those girls soon enough, no need to rush into things.

"Remember when you're lost in the darkness, look for the light."

Haruka stared at the man as he spoke. Children? What did he mean by that? She was his descendant? Well, it wouldn't be out of the question if the man who spoke was truly the King of vampires. As such, wouldn't he be the progenitor for the race? Another word caught her attention. The Devil. Azriel called the Devil the one true God. The Devil was the god to vampires? Her head began to feel as if someone was applying a pressure to it and she grasped at it. If what this man had said was true, then she was a part of his family. That would explain why she wasn't terribly afraid of him and the fluttering feeling of familiarity was in the pit of her stomach. But then his words, they pierced her like a thousand shards of glass. She would do anything to be free of this pure-blood that had bound her to him...anything. The only reason why she was still with the Nouralail pure-blood is because she had no choice in the matter. Eternally bound, and more so royally fucked as one would say it. She wanted to step towards this so-called King, have him free her of this darkness if he could, but she was snapped out of her thoughts when Sodom suddenly appeared and transformed. He tugged at her hemline of her dress and tried to get her away from the pure-blood and the so-called King.

"Sodom," she found her voice as she glanced at the black familiar and then towards the two. She could feel Sodom leading her away from the hostile aura's emanating from the two and she was grateful that her legs followed his lead. In that moment, Azriel had been attacked by the blobs of black formed by the white feathers. She winced slightly as an explosion went off. Before she could react, the three of them found themselves surrounded by a group of vampires. It was consisted of Nobles and Pure-bloods. "Great, just what I need," she muttered through clenched teeth. She didn't need this, no one needed this. What was the purpose? Granted the bad blood between the Nouralail pure-blood and this King was one reason, but what did anyone else have to do with it? She clenched her fists tightly as she stared at the group of vampires. Even as the fear began to take it's toll on her body, she wouldn't allow herself to be harmed by these creatures. She couldn't allow it. Not only because she didn't want them touching her, but because of the scent of her blood. They would know, and she couldn't have that. The only one that knew was Azriel, and that was because he bit her back in the school...in that hallway.

Thinking about it sent shivers down her back and caused goose-bumps to appear on her skin. She couldn't be distracted, not now. She shifted into a defensive stance as she stared at Hikari. "Don't worry about me Hikari, just make sure you handle yourself," she told the white-haired girl. She was going to do the same. If she had someone to worry about, it would only be a hindrance to her and she wouldn't be able to fight properly. It was one of the many things her father had taught her when he was training her alongside her siblings. Hunters were taught to think of the enemy first, and their selves second, or at least in her father's training they had been. She took in a slow breath, waiting for the first of the vampires to attack. It seemed like hours when it was mere minutes. The first vampire lunged at her and she dodged with a grace she picked up from her mother. Floating over the back of the vampire, she brought her elbow forward, catching the vampire in the back of the neck, stumbling them forward. The vampire let out a disgruntled snarl, something that caused Haruka to furrow her brows.

She was then grabbed by the white-haired girl as they made their escape. She wanted to pull out of the girl's grasp, but she knew that their life was more important than petty issues. So, she allowed Hikari to drag her around, avoiding and blocking attacks from vampires. Hunters were falling left and right as well as vampires. It was a bloody massacre, and fear flashed before Haruka's eyes. She only hoped her parents, where ever they were, were okay. They were soon stopped as things around them began to collapse. Hikari had left her side momentarily and all Haruka could do was stare. Then, as she turned, the slicing of the air by a sword and the metal cling signaled that, whoever owned the sword, had just saved Haruka by mere seconds. She inwardly scolded herself for allowing that moment of dropped guard. How could she have been so careless in such a time. Turning to the white-haired girl, she heard the words of calling the man a pedo, which she didn't understand nor did she want to. Soon, Haruka found herself dragged once more towards the balcony doors.

"Watch out!" Haruka found herself shouting as she pushed Hikari away from her. If she hadn't reacted, the white-haired girl and herself would have been cleaved in two by a weapon that had been carelessly tossed. The weapon had managed to dislodge loose debris and caved in. It was now separating Hikari and Haruka. She frowned as she searched for a way around it. Spotting an area, Haruka turned to face Hikari. "I will meet you by the balcony!" she stated as she took off with Sodom. Her eyes, however; were focused in on one being: Azriel. The look on his face, it was something that caused a feeling to flutter in her own being. She had never known that he could display such an emotion as that surprised look on his face. It worried her greatly. Who was it that he was looking at? Would he be able to handle it? Why was she bothered by this? Her thoughts were brought back to reality when a sharp pain entered her shoulder. She let loose a startled cry as she grabbed the arm of the one responsible for the pain. Ripping the arm from her shoulder, Haruka brought her fist forward, catching the vampire in the face as a crack could be heard.

That took a lot of strength from her as she clutched tightly at her shoulder. She inwardly cursed to herself. Her blood, it was falling. She needed to get out of her as quickly as possible. She was supposed to be playing the part of a lowly human who managed to be bound to the Nouralail pure-blood. If these vampires even had a drop of what she was leaking, they would know everything. And that wasn't for them to know. Those secrets, those memories, they were all hers. Even if he had taken some from her, she was only a tool to that man. With that thought in mind, she pushed herself forward and avoided and dodged as best as she could. These vampires were becoming a hassle for her and she wanted nothing more than to be rid of them. The allure of blood filled her senses as she glanced around. There was so much blood, so much death. It reminded her of that night. The night where her fear exploded and took hold of her. She could see the one that had introduced herself as Allessa and the man whom had angered Azriel standing off in the distance. She could barely see what was going on, but she wasn't a fool. The spear that was in her hand, the way it plunged, she knew what was going on. Still, something in the pit of her stomach told her to be more worried for the one she was bound to, even if she hated, despised, and was afraid of him.

Never allow your light to be extinguished no matter how far into the abyss you fall. Light cannot live without darkness nor can Darkness live without light. If the two learn to live in harmony, there is not greater force that can be born between such a union

Those words echoed through her mind as she pressed forward. As much as she wanted to leave this place, she couldn't. Something was keeping her anchored here. It was as if someone had placed cement on her feet and no matter how much she struggled to free herself, she just couldn't budge. Was it because somewhere in the back of her mind, whatever Azriel was experiencing, the shock, she too was feeling it? She shook the thoughts from her head as she turned to Sodom. That was impossible...wasn't it? "Sodom, is...is he okay," she found herself inquiring the health of the one she cared not to know of. It confused her greatly and she tried once more to catch a glimpse of the one person who could instill such an expression onto the pure-blood. Whoever it was, she had to know.

Did you really think that only darkness can cause despair? It is because there is light that shadows are cast to bring oblivion and it is why light is nothing more but the sanctuary of fools.

"When I grow up, I want to be like you!"

Somehow, Azriel was not sure how to interpret that things happening to him at the moment. The chaos. The blood. The death. The King. This person. Everything seemed so surreal. He was not certain if this was just one of his memories playing in his head like a realistic film. The person standing before him was supposed to be just a ghost of a past long gone. Somewhere deep within him, he had wanted that. Never to appear in front of him, he did not want to be reminded of that days filled with joy and how it was easily ripped into shreds by one person. The greatest form of betrayal was done not by his family or done to them, but done to him alone.

"It's good to see you all grown up, Ash." There it was. This person was not a visage. That voice which had haunted him for so long was now with him in this harsh reality. Furthermore, the surprise that had frozen the Nouralail pure-blood was now being melted into terrifying degrees of anger. It was far different from the one he had displayed before Haruka when he found out her ability to utilize the element of ice. His very presence was like raging lava as the vampires that were under the King's commandment were paralyzed by surprise and a great amount of fear. No one had ever seen Azriel like this before. "Remember what I told you Ash. Don't let anger claim you in combat."

Those ash black eyes of his turned into piercing cold blue. "Shut up!" He pointed a finger at the mysterious person. The pure-blood was shaking not because of fear. It was out of immense anger. He then waved his hand aside. His face was twisted in such rage and hatred reserved for the one who was speaking. "No one has a right to call me that. Especially you bastard! The King was truly enjoying this spectacle as he stepped back and was completely at ease of letting his little knight handle the brat of a pure-blood. "I will let you handle this one Hikaru. It seems he is quite happy seeing his precious Uncle." Yes, Hikaru was the name of this person. This man who long ago was the embodiment of radiance and light just like his name. The man that Azriel honestly looked up to.

Hikaru was unfazed by the lash of aura that Azriel had exuded. Instead, he was completely calm about it as his blue eyes that mirrored the pure-blood's met his gaze. "As you wish, my King." This only infuriated Azriel even more. How could be this man looked at him without batting an eyelash and even daresay be a puppet to this madman of a king. "Don't screw with me!" It was then the pure-blood's aura became visible like the darkest of black and turned into one big spear with the intent of piercing Hikaru dead and center. As such, it was propelled with a great amount of speed and anger while Hikaru remained at his position completely detached to what was happening of the looming death coming his way.

Then, a sharp of pain flashed through Azriel's being. It was coming from his arm which made him untimely flinched and making his dark projectile miss Hikaru by an inch. Instead, it hit the floor a bit behind him creating an explosion of rubble and dust. He looked at it as blood began to flow in which he instinctively held it. Was he hit without him knowing? Moreover, why was it not healing as fast as his body could do so. "I heard you had gotten married." Hearing that, he narrowed his eyes in disdain. It only meant that his wife got hurt. What was Sodom and that stupid prefect doing? They were supposed to be watching her and to get her to some place safe. "None of your business!" This time Azriel delivered an invisible shock-wave as the marble tiles flew like paper as it paved its way towards Hikaru who disappeared. "I taught you before. Stay calm at all times."

Sodom trembled in the rage his Master was feeling and exuding throughout the halls. He was not afraid rather find it incredibly saddening and depressing. But even more so, he was worried for the one before his Master was the one who single-handedly crumbled the world of the Nouralail. "Lady Haruka! I must get you away from here!" He reiterated very seriously and seeing the bloodied arm of hers was not good at all. It had already affected his Master seeing the powerful projectile missed its intended target. In a battle with that man, a single show of weakness is fatal. His teeth shredded the vampires that approached them but Haruka remained still in her position.

He was about to call to her again when she suddenly asked him something. There was a grim expression on Sodom's face as he proceeded to tackle Haruka. It was his method for the girl to fall and he then caught her on his back. If he wanted to help his Master, he has to get Haruka to safety first and foremost. "I'm sorry Lady Haruka for this. Master won't be able to fight properly if he worries about you." With that, Sodom carried Haruka to the balcony which they had finally arrived at. He was about to jump down when a scream pierced through which rose above the other chaotic sounds of the battle happening. Sodom knew that voice. It was from Allessa and then next thing that Sodom felt was blood dripping to his fur and it was not from the wound of Haruka's arm. What just happened?

Appearing behind him, Azriel blocked an incoming blow with his arm as he was pushed back. This provided the answer that Hikaru was not someone to be trifled with in terms of physical strength. To be able to make the Nouralail pure-blood move so easily, it cannot be done just by anybody. "Too slow. Did the times I spent training you went all to waste?" This angered the pure-blood further as the blue eyes that he now held even fell into a deeper shade. He had no right to talk to him like this. This man was the one thing he wanted to disappear from this world forever. He was the root of it all. "Shut up you traitor! Don't talk to me like you are related to me!" So, a series of blows was traded between the two. However, it was clear to see that Hikaru was far ahead than the pure-blood which was unbelievable. The man exuded not a presence of a vampire but of a human. Could it even be remotely possible for that to happen? A mere human stronger than a pure-blood?

"You are truly full of anger." These words only served as fodder for the flame in Azriel's being as he delivered a straight jab to Hikaru's face who sidestepped and delivered a backhand which connected. The pure-blood was about to fall face to the floor when he caught glance of something else. Allessa was about to be impaled by the pest with a sword. A memory from the past flashed before his eyes. The scene where his father was pierced by the sword of the man he trusted the most. Something snapped within him as the blue eyes that filled his eyes regained its silver black luster. He was not falling anymore for he was moving with great speed to Allessa.

And there, Azriel released a wave which will push Noctis away in surprise. The pure-blood appeared out of nowhere. His eyes regained its normal haze which showed that he was somewhat calmer than before. He was about to tell Allessa to go away but before that could be done. A sparkling sword made of celestial runes was protruding out of his stomach. He slowly looked behind him where Allessa was crying but her eyes remained blank and hazed. That was right. The King had them under control. "I... am... so... sorry..." The vampiress managed to say with such great effort as she then pulled out the sword. Azriel prevented himself from falling to his knees. He held the wound which was now creating a pool beneath his feet. Hikaru released a disappointed sigh and then finally revealed his weapon which was a very large sword. "This is why you can't be like me."

"No matter how hopelessly broken he becomes, I'll heal it all to save him at the expense of being swallowed by darkness."

Haruka could only stare as the one who had captured Azriel's wrath revealed himself. This man, he knew Azriel on a personal level it seemed. A being from his past before the Giou family it seemed since he called him by a name that did not bear any semblance to Ryuu. She wanted to take a step back towards Azriel. She couldn't understand her body at all, but before she could react, a force knocked her down and she found herself on the back of Sodom. He apologized as he tried to get her away from the fight. She could only look on as the damage the pure-blood and the man caused. They made their way towards the balcony and as Sodom made to jump, a scream caused them both to turn. There was a terrible feeling coming from her stomach, and it was painful. She glanced down and noticed a pool of blood leaking from her stomach and onto Sodom's fur. She let out a disgruntled scream as she clutched to her stomach. What happened? She wasn't hurt, she was with Sodom.

"Az..riel," she breathed out as she saw the event take place. Allessa, the girl who had radiated a charming aura that caused Haruka to be at a sentience of peace, had plunged a sword made of what seemed like stars themselves into Azriel's stomach. He hadn't fallen to his knee's, instead just clutching his stomach similarly how Haruka was clutching hers. He was hurt, so why was she? Was...was this part of the reason why he said they would be forever bound to each other? They would feel each other's pain, their hurt? Something kicked start in her heart at that thought. If he died, so would she? This frightened Haruka to a degree that she leaned forward, trying to apply more pressure to her bleeding wound to make it stop. But if his wound wasn't healing, what did that mean for him? He couldn't be harmed by anti-vampire weapons, she had witnessed it that night when Hikari tried to shoot him.

Suddenly, her world went black. She couldn't see anything in the pitch dark of the abyss as she tried desperately to see. Then, a light was brought forth and the visage of a young woman came into view. She couldn't see who this woman was as she was but a mere ball of light. What was going on? Haruka tried to speak, but found her voice was mute, as if she had no tongue and no voice box to speak with. Instead, the woman grew closer as a veil of ocean blue eyes revealed themselves. Haruka couldn't help but stare into them as they radiated a warmth she wanted so much to grasp at. Then, the woman's lips tilted up in a sad smile. She reached out to Haruka, holding her hand on her cheek in a gentle manner as a new warmth filled Haruka. This sensation, it was comforting and she couldn't help but close her eyes to the woman's hands. Then, the woman spoke.

"Haruka, there is no need to be afraid of the darkness because your light shines brightly through it. Embrace it, teach it, love it, heal it," she had spoken. The woman, whose warmth and gentleness Haruka was reveling in soon shattered into a myriad of butterflies, surrounding Haruka in an orange glow. She was confused at the woman's words. Heal it? Love it? Embrace it? Why? She couldn't understand it at all. Who was the woman though? How did she know her name? Haruka suddenly found herself back to reality, her eyes glowing a bright vermilion laced with a hue of orange. She forced herself off of Sodom, and ran. She knew not her destination, however; she soon found herself moving her arms, swinging a large wall of water from the broken fountain nearby towards the spot where Azriel, Allessa, and the man stood. It quickly turned into a thick wall of ice, surrounding both her and Azriel. It would be destroyed in a matter of seconds, which didn't give her much time at all. If this man's power had surpassed even Azriel's, he would be able to demolish the temporary ice shield of hers.

She turned so that she now faced Azriel, her eyes set into a serious notion as they remained their bright orange-red hue. She didn't say anything to the pure-blood, instead, quickly making her way to him and removing his hand from the wound. She glanced up at him, temporarily before placing her own hand over his wound through the hole in his shirt. She didn't know what she was doing, only that when she closed her eyes, a warmth fluttered through her. When she opened them, there was a light flowing through her hands and around his wound, immediately stitching itself back together almost as if it had never been there to begin with. What was this power she received? Was it always there to begin with? Was it just locked away in the back of her mind and now just unlocked to save him? Or was she saving herself?

"You said that you were mine and I was yours. That means your life is mine as my life is yours. I do not care if this upsets you, I do not care if you would do me harm for disobeying, but you will not die...not by those hands," she stated in such a determined voice that she didn't even know if it was truly her speaking as such. Why had she cared so much as to his life? Even if she hadn't known the truth behind their binding, she would still not allow him to die by anyone else's hands. His life was hers, as was her life was his. No one else would be able to kill him. If he were to be killed, she would be the one to determine when. That was hers, and no one else's. This darkness incarnate before her, it would be the only thing to possess her at the moment. If she had to allow darkness to swallow her in order to keep it alive, then so be it.

Now, she needed to get away from this. It would be a matter of seconds now until this shield of hers was shattered. Without a second glance to the pure-blood, she made for the back of the shield and moved the formation of the ice so that she could escape from it. If he were to truly take on this man now, she didn't need to be here, however; she would still keep an eye on him. "No matter how broken you get, remember, I am the only one who can allow you death, even at the expense of my own life," she stated before making her way out and returning to Sodom. She had brought enough attention to herself with the ice display, she didn't need any more. She meant every single word she had stated. This man was hers to kill if she had to be released one way or another, and no one else would claim that right. Or was their something more to it? Whatever the reason, Haruka forced her way back to Sodom and glanced at the canine. "Sodom, let's get out of here" she stated as she wrapped her arms around the wolf's neck, trembling as she did so. She wasn't even aware that the white-haired prefect wasn't there.

“If the whole world is evil, then the tragedy that befell you is justified, that would make it easier for you to accept the deaths of your loved ones. But if good people do exist, then, however much you deny it, your life will be unbearable; because fate set a trap for you, and you know you didn't deserve it. It isn't the light you want to recover, it's the certainty that there is only darkness.”

"Watch out!" Hikari was pushed to the side, away from Haruka but out of the way of two weapons, if Haruka hadn't been paying attention they would have been dead, however, suddenly the ground between the two caved in, dividing the white haired girl with the red haired girl. Hikari felt panic raise in her chest, and for a moment she thought about trying to jump, but Haruka had other plans. "I will meet you by the balcony!" Haruka shouted over over the battles that were taking place around them, before she sprinted away with the familiar. "Damn it." She hissed and took off running the the same direction Haruka had took off in, there were moments when she would lose the girl in the crowd, but the large wolf and the flame colored hair were easy to keep track on. When another vampire had hit Haruka's shoulder, she was damn near ready to jump over the gap and tackle the bastard, but before she something cut into her fore arm. A scream burst from her lips as the crackle of electricity shot by her head, slicing some strands of her silver hair.

The girl spun around, rage taking control of her face as she glared at Hiro, she was half tempted to ram her sword through his chest, but she couldn't bring herself to do it, she would never forgive herself if she killed the young boy she had befriended, it was clear that none of these vampires had control of themselves, and to her it seemed unjust to kill them all when they were being controlled by the man who called him self a king, what bullshit. Shouldn't everyone be trying to kill that guy? Hikari shook her head to clear it, before grabbing on of her throwing knives and nailing Hiro right in the shoulder. He gaped, doubling over in pain and she flinched. "I'm sorry!" She said, sadness filling her eyes as she spun around and ran in her previous direction, towards Haruka.

"Help!" Hikari stopped as a shrill female voice cut through the air, making her neck snap to the left. A female hunter was backing away from two vampires, weaponless. I'm never going to another vampire party again, this blows. She gritted her teeth and took off towards the girl, pulling out her last throwing knife and ramming it into one of the vampires neck until her stuck out the other side. The girl blinked in surprise, but it was short lived as the other vampire dived at her, hand cutting through her chest and spilling blood. "No!" She cried out, the first vampire in her grasp turning to dust as she wasted no time killing the other monster and catching the girl. "Hey, your okay, look just calm down...whats your name?" Hikari had pulled the girl into her lap and was now cradling her close to her chest. "Ellie...this was my first...real job." Blood trickled down the side of the girls face, she wasn't going to make it. "That's a great now, Ellie...listen, you- you did a great job alright? You can just...just go to sleep now okay? When you wake up this will all be over. I promise." She smiled sadly down at the girl, who nodded her head slowly as her eyes drifted shut. "Thank you...could you do me a favor...?" Hikari nodded her head slowly, trying her best to keep the sadness from her eyes. "...Don't die...." Hikari's eyes widened as her head automatically moved up and down, singling yes. "Thank yo-" Silence.

Blank green eyes stared up at Hikari's face, making her stomach twist painfully. She carefully laid the girl down onto the ground, dark crimson blood now covered the front of her once stark white dress and pale hands. "I'm sorry..." Hikari whispered sadly while standing up, her sword back in her hand and the blood knife in her other hand. She felt sick, all around her were vampires fighting hunters, and a good number of the hunters were dying, people like this girl, who had no expense, shouldn't die like this. It was just horrible. So much for not feeling that loss. She scoffed before taking off running towards Haruka, she had missed the whole scene between the red head and her husband, at the moment she could careless what strange powers the girl held, she just wanted to get her out of there.

Within seconds Hikari was standing on the balcony. She strode towards the familiar and Haruka, with a strange look in her eyes. With bloody hands she reached out and hoisted Haruka up onto Sodom's back before she stepped away and looked the familiar straight in the eyes. "Go, get her as far away as possible." She reached up, bloody fingers brushing under her left eye. That was the first time she realized her old scar had some how opened up and was now bleeding. She froze for a second, memories of him flashing through her mind before her eyes took on a dangerous glint. "None will follow from here." She turned her back on the two of them and walked back towards the doors, both weapons grasped tightly in her hands. I'll cover this exit, I wont let Haruka get hurt by one of those monsters again. Not while I have anything to say about it. She stood in front of the balcony doors, she would kill anyone who tried to pass through. This is not how I expected my weekend to go... She sighed and help up her weapons. Not at all.

"The seams of lies slowly unravel to reveal the ugly truth, I like that."

In an instant, Noctis was pushed away. He felt his back colliding with the wall. It was not subtle at all. He felt his breath leaving his lungs from the impact of the force that the Nouralail pure-blood left. At the same time, there was the usual sound of some ribs cracking from that act. Of course, he was not impeded by that. For in the end, he was not a normal human from the very beginning. But, there was a good thing here. The dark pure-blood was not as cold and emotionless as he was first perceived to be. His obvious action to protect the Celestias noble was enough proof of his affection. As such, it brought him to his downfall by showing a slipping in that crack.

The one he protected impaled him without a second thought but, there was an apology in the midst of that chaos. How ironic this was turning out to be. Vampires were being controlled without a thought by the King. Will was nothing more but an illusion. Well, Noctis could agree to that. Noctis stood from his position as he crackled his joints and limbs. There were notable damage on him but not something to be considered major. After doing so, his hand gripped tightly to his sword. He glanced to the King who had a delightful expression on his face. It seemed he takes great pleasure in the current condition of the Nouralail pure-blood.

Then, there was another thing ironic here. He cast those steel blue eyes of his on the black-clad figure. Every hunter present in the room who saw this man froze in disbelief. It was also filled with great disappointment Why wouldn't they? This man was a legend. The former president of the Hunter Association who had single-handedly defeated pure-bloods with ease and more than that. His greatest accomplishment was the almost elimination of Nouralail Clan. But now, here he was after disappearing into the background. He was here and as if a slap to all the hunters who looked up to him. This great man was now serving the King of Vampires and was not doing anything or stopping the massacre of other hunters.

How annoying and irritating. It angers him very much. He was even made to look like him even as a silhouette. This was indeed a betrayal. The one he never wanted to have at all cost. There was no other choice. A truce must be done right here and now. "Nouralail, don't get in the way." This was his only statement as he jumped over Azriel and blocked another blow from the manipulated Celestias noble which aimed to decapitate the pure-blood. He then delivered a direct blow to her gut. This should render her unconscious. After doing so, he caught sight of orange-haired girl. The pure-blood's wife, she went to her husband, typical.

But, Noctis was right to conclude that there was more to this girl. She created a wall of ice to impede the man known to many as the Legendary Hunter of Light, Hikaru Murakami from approaching the Nouralail pure-blood. So, she was not just a hunter's daughter, she was not even human. Anyway, he will do the couple a favor. Glancing towards the female noble, she was now outcold. Why he didn't kill her as he had stated earlier? He will reward the pure-blood's favor for now. That was simply it. But, this one was on a personal favor.

"So, you're still alive and you dare show your face here as that bastard's slave." Noctis meet Hikaru's eyes with his cold and unflinching gaze. Just because of his appearance here, the legacy that Hikaru had left was destroyed in a instant. Nothing was left but the shambles of mistakes. "As a hunter, I would have to punish you for your transgression, traitor!" With that, his eyes of blue turned into blazing red as he rushed towards Hikaru who simply looked at him with the a detached expression. Then, the sound metal echoed throughout the grand hall.
