Electric Swordsman
His personality is one that could be described as being a jovial man of the party. He almost always has a smile on his face, only widened by his characteristic laugh. Whenever there is an opportunity, he welcomes the chance to be part of any merrymaking and encourages it in others. As well, he enjoys sportsmanship. Sometimes he seems even overconfident.
Although a good hearted man, and one that does not appear to be into violence, he has known a few times in his life where he has completely lost control. Considering himself a man of the people, he is first to stand up against injustice. Sometimes this has gotten the young man into trouble, and sometimes it has gained friends around him.
His carried belongings are few, but he always carries his trusty sword. It has a thin blade similar to a foil, made more for stabbing than slashing. He also carries a small knapsack, which normally contains food for the day, sometimes holding a change of clothes. Nestled deep inside, is a small metal plate. Its shape resembles more of that of a small child's shield, than of an eating accessory.
Abilities: He has the raw power of electricity. After some training, he can harness some, but most of it is wasted. He is also an excellent swordsman, and mildly skilled with a bow and other weapons and tools.
Evan was born in a small town, on the edge of the large plains of country that spread out as far as the eye could see. Behind the village, could be seen the small but magnificent shape of the castle. Being on the edge of country, his father owned many herds of cattle and sheep.
When he was a baby, a few days after he was born, he began to exhibit strange signs. It was at first unnoticed, only giving Evan's mother the sharp and tingling sensations of static electricity at times when she held him. Later on in his development, the small baby and almost toddler was surrounded by powerful charges of electricity. His parents were alarmed and perplexed, and quickly called for the most powerful magic user who lived closed by. Although they were told that it was not a curse, but an early showing of his powers, his father asked that it immediately be taken away, lest someone get hurt. The mage placed a seal on the boy, completely blocking the electricity from escaping. He made it so the seal could never be broken, unless it was felt that he would be in grave danger where it would be needed.
Later on in his life, his father felt that he had taken a source of protection away from him. As a young boy, his father trained Evan in the use of a sword, and other weapons. When he was of age, his father sold as many cattle and took as much money from his savings as needed to send the young man to the kingdom. There, he went to one of the finest schools his father could pay for. While learning many needed and useful skills, he also practiced in the arts. As an amateur swordsman, he walked into his first swordsmanship class with all of the confidence of a village put together. After being quickly beaten in a duel, he realized that he was little more than an amateur, and would not last against true swordsmen. As a result, he listened, watched, and practiced extremely hard, in order to become one of the best and make his father proud. When he left the school four years later, he took with him many medals and awards earned in competitions.
Upon returning home, he found out that his village was threatened by a powerful warlock. Although his father begged him not to take on the magic user, Evan went after him, confident that he could defeat the man. When he met the warlock however, any overconfidence he had in a victory quickly
vanished. The man was ruthless and nearly killed Evan. In what was sure to be the end for the younger man, the tables turned. The seal, having been in effect since childbirth, broke. Combined with his anger, and the sudden rush of power, instinct took over. No longer was he controlling his actions, but it was controlling him. Harnessing all of his raw power, he defeated the warlock, disintegrating him into ashes.
He was amazed, but at the same time was ashamed to face his father with electricity flowing over him. Afraid of what his father might think or say, he quickly packed up his gear, and left for another village. In his travels, he tried to control his newfound power. Although he had harnessed it so beautifully in his battle, he could not so much as to lift a finger to make it do a simple movement. He was found by a mage, he sensed his enormous power capacity. Taking him in, he trained him to help control the electricity.
However, a plague soon spread throughout the small town. Animals, crops, and people all died. His mentor, although a powerful mage, was caught unaware and died along with the rest. He quickly decided it would be best to leave, and fled for the next town, barely escaping with his life.
He was slightly worried about his powers. The mage had been slowly helping him to gain control of it, but he could only control it so far. Compared to how much seemed to be stored, what he could do paled in comparison. If left untouched, the electricity seemed to course over him with ease. It took more energy to keep it from showing, than to use it.
In time, he realized that the plague he had escaped in one town was one widespread. It had overtaken many lands, including the ones of his father. He had heard many rumors, about what might be the source of the plague. Finally counting his powers as a blessing, he made a decision to investigate the cause.
