This is the auto-generated OOC topic for the roleplay Nephalem Valor, located here: roleplay/nephalem-valor

Feel free to throw in ideas, character concepts, or suggestions. WOOT WOOT.

I will add a character sheet skeleton to the intro page, as well as a separate thread about the different Nephalem classes. These will include Demon Hunter, Wizard, Barbarian, and probably some from D2 as well. Of course, you're welcome to come up with your own sort of class or hero (if that's what you choose), or a hybrid of the ones that already exist in the game.

That reminds me. I forgot to include a skeleton. Shen Zhi, I was confused at first too, but I promise it's easier than it seems. Just wait for me to get back from dinner and I will create (i.e., steal from someone else) a skeleton character sheet and you just copy/paste and fill in the blanks.

I am waiting on just a few people to submit their characters, and then we can start posting. I've already added two locations to the RP: The Cathedral, located inside of Tristram where most of the fighting will occur; and The Slaughtered Calf Inn, your cliche inn/tavern/bar or whatever. I'm fine with people posting in different places simultaneously, so long as you can keep track.

I am wondering how everyone feels about battles being done in a chat system that allows for dice. I had a couple of thoughts this morning about how, when it came time to fight a demon guarding an Artifact, it could move very slowly on the forum. So here's my idea.

Many eons ago, AOL used to have a chat room system that allowed you to roll dice. You'd type in /roll4d20s, which would roll 4 dice each with 20 sides. So, let's say we're fighting Rakanishu who is guarding the first Artifact. We all come into the chat room, have some posts of RP, and I could assume the role of narrator (or, really, someone else can, I'm fine with that).

I'll post Rakanishu's stats:

RAKANISHU | 1,000 HP | Fast, lightning, teleporter | Weak against ice and poison

Then I would post the hero's stats:

ORIANA | 450 HP | Demon Hunter, ranged
SYOUS | 450 HP | Mage, elemental
ARCHIBALD | 450 HP | Paladin, melee

Or whatever. Because Rakanishu is "fast," he attacks first and after ever second hero's attack. He would roll something like, 2d20, which would be the damage done to a specified target. Heroes would use dice as well until he's died. Heroes who "die" in battle will actually just be "overwhelmed" and faint like in your favorite JRPGs.

It would take some organizing and working out, but I think it could be fun. What do you guys think?

If you're not familiar with a dice system, it can be a little overwhelming.

Also, Naft had a dumb question, but I'll address it anyway.

He asked if I, as GM, would care about his character having enchanted armor. The truth is I care more about the playing than what kind of armor or abilities your character has. Feel free to update your sheets at any time, just so long as you're not like "MY CHARACTER CAN DODGE EVERY ATTACK AND HAS THE ABILITY TO SUPPRESS OTHER PEOPLE'S ABILITIES" or something. Those things take the fun out of it.

I am always open to plot suggestions. I have an idea for how they will come upon the first artifact, but nothing solid.

ALSO if you are playing a Nephalem, your character is not just the average human. They can sense demonic presence, typically have eyes that "glow in the dark" (though this is optional) and increased EVERYTHING. They are strong, agile, dexterous, intelligent. Obviously in the game, each class focuses on one over the other, but I don't care how you do it. I am probably the most flexible GM evar.

I just come to the RP site, click the "Posting" tab at the top, and go from there. Unfortunately it doesn't filter very well, and I think when you submit a post that way, it defaults to the "main" location, which, in our case, is Tristram.

I didn't work off Syous as a Nephalem because he's Human, so I'm playing as if he didn't have the dream.
