◣cнαиgε is Inevitable◥

Image
Of a time of castles, brave knights and quests. Nowhere else but the exceptional country of Verreie (‘ver-ray-a’). The sights of its vast landscapes could take anyone's breath away and magic still runs deep through the every vein of the planet.
The Great fifteen year war had finally found its resolve. Humans and other creatures alike were able to settle and peace returned to the land. The great gods and goddesses who watched over Verreie’s inhabitants called for a celebration amongst themselves in honor of this newfound peace. The Garden; a place so beautiful yet so shrouded in mystery that many believe it has been there since the beginning of time itself. Around the table the twelve ethereal beings sat, each gifted with their own unique powers and abilities. A feast of rich nectar and sweet ambrosia, merry music, whilst the sun shone bright and the wind was gentle. And of course, at the very center of the festivities, was the dazzling Tree of Protection. Its branches gave off silvery light that matched with the very fruit it bore. Ripe silver apples that looked more like stars poking out from under its delicate leaves. But most of all, it was the delicious scent that perfumed the air, for any regular being, it would be hard to think of anything else even while in the midst of such a wondrous event. One God stood, and the whole table was quieted immediately. For he was considered the wisest of the twelve and any words he spoke were always held in the highest regard. He had told the others beforehand that he had an announcement and he promised them all it would change everything.
"Dear friends," he began, his velvet voice was strong but pleasant, "For centuries, we have watched life blossom in our gentle world. We’ve seen each race mature, grow and adapt. The violent Centaurs have become a race of peacekeepers. The dwarfs, known for their solitary and withdrawn attitudes, have become renowned for their skill in crafting. Even we, as gods have grown.” He looked at his fellows tenderly.
There was a quiet murmur of agreement.
“However,” His tone grew a little more serious, “Humans have brought me much worry. Though their race may be the one of the most numerous, their behavior, their natural aggression and apathy distresses me. Time and time again, we have given them opportunities and chances to allow them to show us their virtues. And time and time again, they have chosen greed over charity, wrath over patience, they turn against each other like dogs--" He stopped to take a calming breath. It was clear that his list could have continued for quite some time. He needn't continue. "...They are a race,” He began again, more softly this time, “that has shown me nothing but that they have no potential to grow. The other races grow weary and disdainful of them. Is it not unjust for them to be punished with the very presence of the human race after their own kind has done so much to change? Humanity’s behavior has spoken for them and it is time for us to make a choice. All men must die. All things must come to an end. I believe the humans are long overdue." He lifted his head majestically, his eyes looking towards his comrades, "Come my friends! Do not falter in your choice for Change is inevitable!" He had expected a resounding unanimous agreement.
What he received instead was less than pleasing.
While six of the celestials stood to applaud his speech, the other half of the table sat in an uneasy silence.
“Sir, I cannot agree with your resolve.” A girl this time, stood up quietly. Her voice, her unconfident way of standing, all pointed towards her timidity. “I don’t believe that humans are the way in which you have painted them out to be. If change is inevitable, then it means that humans can change too. It is not our right to interfere in such a manner. ”
He looked incredulously at this tiny girl before him. Was this some sort of joke? What an insult. The youngest and newest to join them dared to speak out against him now. He would’ve scoffed if the other five hadn’t risen to stand behind her.
“There is no way to sway you.” He said as a statement rather than a question. He could already tell.
“I’m afraid not, Sir.”
The silent tension in the atmosphere rose. The gods were divided. How would this conflict be solved? It was the elder whose eyes darted to the tree first. He knew the sides were equal, and it would only take but a single bite of the sacred fruit to overpower the other. As soon as she caught his gaze, she had no doubt of his intensions. Instantaneously, they both sprang towards to tree, quicker than lightning itself.
It was this final event that was the most curious of all. A force that dispelled all the gods from the garden. Some whisper that it was The Tree, in a final attempt to protect itself, unleashed a force so powerful that the world had never known. Anyone outside the garden would have only seen a warm bright light; some even took it as a blessing for their newfound peace. They couldn’t have been more mistaken.
In the end, he was right. It certainly changed everything.

◣вυт do we always cнαиgε for the better?◥

◣It wasn't sυρρσsε∂ to have turned out like this.◥

Image
ImageThe world is in ruin. Who knows how long it's been since our battle had begun. I'm certainly not counting anymore. The day that was supposed to celebrate peace was now the day that started the largest battle of all. Since the Great Tree banished us, we all lost our physical forms. But Gods never really die…we linger in spirit, and instead we found vessels. Bodies which can contain our souls. We carefully choose our vessels, we choose someone who would have key personality traits and the strength to make them stand above the crowd. Since it is only myself and the Elder that gain full control over their body, the other gods are only able to speak with their vessel. Thus, they are wise to choose one with a motive to stay on our side. With them, our spirit is able to live on. And through them, our battle goes on. As time passes the vessel will have more and more access to our power, however, at the same time, a mortal body cannot continue to harbour our spirit. It is simply too much. Any vessel is fated to die within a couple years. My time with this poor girl is almost complete, and we have not yet found a resolve to our conflict. I'm sure the others have chosen their next already. The transfer begins this very night. As always, I hope that this cycle will be our last.
I apologize to all of the families that lose their loved ones on this night. I ask that you burn this letter.
◣Do those ρεяƒεcт lives that we heard of really εxιsт?◥

Image Light (Leader) - [Open/Reserved/Taken]
The youngest as well as the most timid. Powers at the mildest level simply serve as a guiding light. As it advances, can be used to bend the light to the eye for optical illusions as well as creating powerful and devastating beams of light.

ImageWater-[Open/Reserved/Taken]
A great strength of having the power of water is it's abundance. The vessel will be able to take from sources of water and shape the water to their will. Weight, is still a factor in its beginnings however. At its strongest, the vessel will be able to take moisture directly from the air to create devastating waves that can sweep the land. Naturally, this vessel's personality will negatively clash with the fire vessel.
Image Fire -[Open/Reserved/Taken]
Fire known for its aggression and powerful after-effects, can easily be destructive in any combat situation. Will always need a spark to start the flame in its beginnings. They also won't be burnt by high temperatures, which can be handy when you're dealing with flames so often. Though it's not confirmed, some say a few vessels have been able to call forth the great Phoenix by the end of their cycle. Naturally, this vessel's personality will negatively clash with the water vessel.
Image Earth - [Open/Reserved/Taken]
You can always trust them to be, down-to-earth. Can increase growth of plants, and command them to a point. However, this control is limited that it cannot make a certain plant appear from the ground on a whim, at least a sprout of some sort needs to be pre-existing. As well as the plant cannot be dead, for a life is a life and they cannot be brought back. This is also a diverse power however, since they also gain control over rocks, boulders etc. At advanced stages, they can be the cause of ground wrenching earthquakes and deadly poisonous plants.
Image Time- [Open/Reserved/Taken]
Perhaps the most difficult power to advance and master before a vessel's limit. It is a difficult task amounting to the Time Lord after all. Their power does not stop time itself, but affect another's perception of time (almost like momentarily freezing them). At first, they must have skin contact in order to freeze them in time, but as they grow, they will develop a range and will be able to increase the amount of people they can affect at one time. Eventually they will be able to see into the past and maybe, just maybe, into the future as well.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Image

Image Telepathy (Leader) - [Open/Reserved/Taken]
This vessel will naturally have a strong mind, and this power will strengthen it further. They will be able to look sift into others’ minds to sense thought or emotion. Not only that, but soon enough, they will be able to lift objects by simply thinking of it. Usually the quickest to advance to his final stages which concern having influence over one’s free will.

ImageTeleportation - [Open/Reserved/Taken]
A power shrouded in mystery that is not to be underestimated. This power is known for its speed and agility, and though at first the distances and number of times a vessel can handle may be short, it is enough to outdo many in battle. At its more powerful stages, the vessel can teleport others along with them, though it can be very draining on the user. The range of which they can teleport greatly improves while they are on their own. Some could swear that they were in two places at once. This power however, cannot be used to teleport within the garden from any distance.

Image Lightning - [Open/Reserved/Taken]
They say the sting from a scorpion’s venom comes from the great god of lightning himself. Any amount of electricity can paralyze the body, making this a very deadly power. Most users at the beginning stages must use a conductor (such as their sword) to strengthen their power for any sort of effectiveness. However, it becomes a great deal more trouble for any opponent later on in the vessel’s cycle when they channel that electric energy through their own body, making a single touch a shocking surprise. Some say they can even command lightning storms to bend to their will.

ImageIce - [Open/Reserved/Taken]
This power is unique in the way that it can awe as well as harm. Very similar to The Water Vessel in the sense that they need a source of water first to freeze. Eventually they can take up the moisture from the air to create cutting hail storms and even create unique weapons of ice. Their touch could, very literally, give someone a cold shoulder by freezing their opponents. Blood is, after all mostly water, just waiting to be frozen. Their own body in turn, will be immune to cold temperatures. This is the best opponent for Earth, as they can render any plant life useless.

Image Air - [Open/Reserved/Taken]
An element is commonly associated with logic and intellect. It is indeed, no mistake. As one who can control the air around them, they can sense nearly everything that happens. However, it still means at the early stages a Vessel can only push or nudge with the air. When it does advance, they can become a frightful opponent. Others cannot can the upper hand on this one from the element of surprise and it will be difficult to even stay on the ground. This vessel will no doubt be able to fly, though in terms of speed, they can’t compare to Teleportation.

Gods fighting: one side wants to destroy humans, the other side is protecting them
Use vessels to fight. Living beings that they grant their powers to and can speak to.
Both sides are racing back towards The Garden to reach the tree.

Even gσ∂s have Rules...
вαнαvισυя
First and foremost, Treat everyone with respect. Play nice. If not, I won't hesitate to break it up. One way or another. ;D
This is my first roleplay, so please go easy on me! Of course I'd love feedback too! But I'm not that familiar with this site's habits.
No, I don't think I'm the god or whatever of this RP. I think Roleplays are so much greater when interesting plot twists happen. So, don't be shy to discuss anything with me or your fellows.

ρяσƒιℓεs
For races, I'm very open. Heck, make one up if you want to. As long as you don't make it all mighty powerful, and tell us a little bit about them and their abilities in your profile, it's completely fine.
Faceclaims are appreciated, but not mandatory. Drawn, or photograph, it makes no difference to me.
If you're to be against humans, it makes more sense for your character to be something other than a human no? Unless you come up with a really amazing backstory to reason why your human wants to destroy all humans, I probably won't allow it.
**Ideas for a character that's not a vessel? You go right on ahead!! In fact, I encourage it!

ρσsтιиg
So I'm not that fussy with posting length. Not a text message, but not a book either. As long as you keep grammar and spelling in check please!
If you have to go away for vacation, please please please tell us! We may even stall the entire RP just for you, so you won't miss a thing. I won't get angry if you decide to quit either, I will, if you just drop and leave us all hanging though.

The clock strikes twelve.

A new cycle has begun. Asleep or awake, this is the one time the vessel will be forcibly pulled into the dream realm, effectively passing out, to find themselves in the same situation. They find themselves at the end of a long hallway, alone. Everything is white. Floors, walls, ceiling; it is hard to tell where one ends and the other begins. In the distance, a shining doorway shines a soft glow onto them.

Do you walk towards the light, hero?

It takes a moment for the glare to die down enough to finally allow some sort of visibility. The doorway, turns out, opens into an enormous, perfectly round room. Silence is given a whole new meaning at entering room. Ears almost ring from the absence of sound. The ceiling must be high, for any echoes just seemed to be eaten alive by this immense space. At one end of the room lies eight doorways, side by side, all of which will have equally confused participants slowly emerging from them. At the other end, two figures can be seen in the distance.

The first, a young girl sitting on a ledge of the same white, unblemished finish as the rest of this space. It is high enough to keep her feet from touching the ground. Her hands grip the edge with a slight sense of unease, though her soft features offer nothing but a tired, yet kind smile. Her clear eyes carried a quality of reassurance, as if there was an irresistible prejudice in your favor. That you could do no wrong.

The second, a man, stands with undeniable poise and grace. He is stern, and his dark locks create a stark contrast to this overly white space. The way his eyes pierce through one makes it seem as if he has already deduced everything there is to know about you. He has the air of confidence of one was has already unraveled all of life’s mysteries. The majesty of a king, and the strength of a true leader.
Both emanate a unique glow. A sight beyond the pens of lyric poets. An ocean in its terrifying power and rhythmic grace. As if they command the knowledge of a thousand scholars, the empathy of a thousand lovers, the mystery of a thousand strangers. The closest to gods one could ever witness with the bare eye.

Upon closer inspection, it can be observed that a partition, clear as glass, is actually splitting the two parties from each other. Four doors on one side, four on the other. Sound does not travel between them.

The girl is the first to move. Jumping down from her seat with a flurry of golden locks. “Welcome.” She looks apologetically to her new comrades. The man crosses his arms, clearly taking a different approach. He is anything but sorry to see you there. Instead, he says,
“Congratulations.”

Tsyzz

How and when Tsyzz had fallen asleep was a mystery, but as soon as he laid his brilliantly colored eyes upon the ceiling above his head, and after the split-second of realization it took to recognize his own lucidity, the serpentine warrior hurled up and onto his feet. The last he could remember was staring out over a vast ocean of blood-red sand, not long after the last tendrils of the blazing sun had set, taking the heat of the day with it. True enough it had been over a week since he had slept for longer than a half turn of the sun dial, but the oppressive tendrils of exhaustion were far from dragging him to slumber. The peacefulness of his departure merely amplified the ferocity of his reawakening to some strange environment, without the company of his companions, and receiving the strangest feeling from this blank hallway.

Staring down the long hallway towards the doorway enveloped in light left him curious and comforted, as if there was a friendly presence . . . no, comrades would be a better way to describe it, to be found on the other side of the doorway. At the same time though there lingered a threat, a very dangerous presence that he knew would not disappear anytime soon, it meant an inevitable encounter that just might mean the end of all those involved. Yes, very good. A challenge. With a grim smile spread across his face, Tsyzz straightened himself up and proceeded down the hallway to the welcoming door, delighted at the prospect of what battles were to come.

Even on the most tranquil of desert nights was the silence so deafening as this place, the only sound to keep the warrior company being the rustle clatter of his claws on the ground as he walked brusquely with the rustle of his leggings as the wind he created whipped by. He would be more comfortable is whoever, or whatever, it was that had brought him here had also decided to clothe and armor him fully, but at least he was not stripped down to the quick, leggings would be enough. As he continued towards the door, the light emitted from it became ever brighter, to the point of blinding, something made that much more aggravating due to his race’s inherently weak eyesight, forcing the slightest of grimaces and turn of the head to minimize discomfort. His dominant hand reached out at the last as if to ensure that he could force his way through the aperture, a hand extended to grope into the adventure that was to come.

It took several seconds of blind groping and stifled hissing before Tsyzz was able to make full use of his eyesight, all the meanwhile having the deafening silence beat away on his head. After regaining his vision Tsyzz was greeted with the most curious of sights, a circular room one might describe as cavernous, a vast space from which the deafening silence seemed to emanate, and it turns out his instincts were correct, he was not alone. Seven doors to his left and right, all identical, would no doubt yield other somewhat confused inhabitants and they would all be greeted in the same fashion. The other noteworthy greeting to his entrance was the presence of two others, on the other side of the large room, both of whom resembled hideous humans. He could hear the entrance of the others to his left and right as he staggered in, but his eyes were focused on the man, if there was a choice to be made he would go along with him.

We all have a destiny...

At least, that's what the old man had always said. Lyra found it odd that a man who had accomplished nothing in his life was so determined to believe in destiny. Then again, he'd probably retort that it was his own destiny to not accomplish anything. Now, Lyra had begun to wonder what her own destiny was. She had no recollection of falling asleep, the last things she remembered was drawing out the engraving for a sword some rich man had ordered. Maybe she had spent one too many nights burning down the candles in her shop to finish projects.

Lyra sighed and forced her crimson eyes open, only to find herself in a white and desolate hallway. She looked around anxiously, seeking the comfort of her normal dreams, full of battles and dare I say it- true love. Nothing of the sort was in this dream though. Her sword was not at her side nor were there any other swords in the entire white hallway. it made her feel a bit flustered to be in a place so unfamiliar to her. She finally faced forward, seeing a door t the end of the hallway. Perhaps this door would lead to her adventure? Perhaps it would take her to a battlefield which she would command? She walked towards it, a great feeling a dread and anticipation washing over her.

When she opened the door, she was faced with a large circular room. She looked to her side and saw a slab of glass separating her from seven doors and to her other side was six other doors. That's a lot of doors, she thought absently, slowly turning to the front.

A girl sat elevated above them all. She had an air of kindness around her, "Welcome," she said in a soft voice.

We all have a destiny, and this is where Lyra's starts.

Falling asleep was easy. It had been a long day of wandering, some forest in an unknown corner of Verrerie. Livia had settled down for the night, carefully propped up in a tree, back to the trunk, on a thick branch about ten feet off the ground. Waking up... waking up was harder. She found herself in a blindingly bright room, surrounded by white light that emanated from distant and out of focus walls and ceilings. Hissing, she flung up a hand to cover her eyes, pupils contracting into narrow slits at the onslaught. Her other hand scrabbled in front of her, finding a knob. She twisted it and launched herself through the doorway, hoping for some respite. No such luck.

Squinting, she surveyed the place, because there was no possible way that she'd arrived here on her own two (four?) feet. Sterile white, extending up far beyond the eye's reach. Eight doors, including the one she'd just stumbled out of, line the circular room. It wasn't welcoming, and Livia's every instinct screamed at her to get away. She clamped down on her rattled nerves and straightened from her protective half-crouch (when had she gotten into it?). The first rule of survival was this: Never show weakness. Well. Too late for that one. Oh well. Livia would have to live with it.

To her right was a man. Maybe. It was hard to tell really, what with all the wraps and cloaks and armour covering every inch of skin. Or not skin. Livia didn't judge. What interested her more were the two swords sheathed at his back. She could feel the weight of her knives, varying in size and sheathed under her forearms, strapped at her waist, in her boots, on her thighs, the small of her back... Livia had a thing for knives, ok? Anyways, they were still there, and she was glad. Only the waist and thing ones were visible, the rest hidden under the folds of a black tunic and sleeveless, hooded trench coat. And gloves. Can't forget the gloves. Livia had a thing for them too.

There were two others, a slim girl and a lithe man, placed opposite of each other. They didn't have doors behind them; perhaps they were the ones who brought them here? Livia could feel the power radiating off of them. The girl's was bright and clean, somehow human - human! - yet not. She was on the other side of the room, cordoned off by a barrier of glass. More important was the man, danger radiating out of his every pore. His smirk hinted at fangs, and Livia finally identified that insidious scent; blood, dark, and fire. Demon. He can take me apart with his bare hands. And he knows it. But he was on the same side of the glass as Livia, therefore he was the one to watch. And then he spoke. Congratulations? Congratulations for what? Livia was afraid to ask. But someone had to.

"So," she half-mumbled, half-spoke, intimidated despite herself, and tried to keep the reflexive snark out of her voice, "Who are you, where am I, and why am I here?"

It had been a long day of deliveries, so it was no surprise to her brother, Seth when Era came crashing in the shop's front door -scarring the tourist couple that was glancing around at the brochures on the counter- and practically flew up the stairs to the apartment above the shop. Sighing loudly, Era grabbed the chunk of wood that she had been working on and, pulling out her knife, started to work on the carving in order to calm her nerves. It was a particularly dainty piece, a tree branch with a bird just landing on it, wings still open from flight. Whittling normally calmed her nerves, but today, Era was having another one of her rage-filled periods. She was about to crack again and she knew it -and she knew that Seth was thinking the same thing. Her periods of anger were becoming longer and she was growing more frustrated with the confinement of the city and the humans living there by the hour.

In particular, the last delivery had been to a human, a very wealthy and very overweight man. It was a rather humid day in the city and that -partnered with the fact that Era's fear of confinement was kicking in- meant that the idea of wearing the jacket the one that normally covered Era's feather made her cringe. So, Era had decided to let her full harpy self -horns, feathers, and all- show and the human that she had been delivering the package to was less than happy about it. He had thrown the money at her, told her to cover up those hideous "wings" and then promptly slammed the door in her face. Era was furious, but she stopped herself from knocking down is door and beating him to a pulp and instead, she collected the money and took off, circling the city for hours before she was finally calm enough to return to the shop. However, she was still fuming from the encounter and she knew that she would not be staying in the city for much longer. She would have to tell Seth as soon as possible that she would be taking another one of her "trips" and that he would have to put the deliveries on hold.

The whittling calmed Era down even more, but she was still rather angry which is why she was surprised, to say the least, when she found her eyes dropping shut as she fell into a blissful sleep. She was even more surprised when she woke up to find herself blinded by a bright white light. She winced, tears forming from the brightness, and gave a low grumble as she closed her eyes against the brilliance. When she opened them again, she found that she could see better, but the light still hurt her eyes. Blinking several more times to get the tears out of her eyes, Era slowly sat up, placing her bare feet on the floor. The floors of the stark white room were cool, but not uncomfortably so. There was a door on one wall and Era stood, grabbing her bo-staff -which she was glad she had in this weird dream- and made her way to the door. 'This must be a dream,' she thought to herself and then mentally slapped herself for the stupidity of the statement. Of course it was a dream. It wasn't as if she had just magically woken up in a brilliantly white room and didn't remember how she got there. But something felt wrong about the dream. It didn't feel like most dreams. Era felt much more aware than she had ever felt in a dream.

Shaking herself from her thoughts, Era turned back to the door and turned the handle. She shoved it open and stepped out into a large, circular room with seven other doors -not including her own. There were others in the room. Directly to her right was a black-haired girl -not human, she looked rather cat-like. Out of evolutionary survival instinct, Era took a step to her left in order to get further away from the girl. Of course, it was something ingrained in the bird part of Era's brain. The fear of cats. The feathers draped from Era's arms ruffled unconsciously, preparing her to take flight if need-be, but Era kept her composure. To the right of that girl was a monster of a man -also obviously not human, although Era was sure she had never seen his kind before. He had two swords strapped across his back and Era was sure that if given a chance and a reason, the man would easily be able to break every one of her bird-like, hollow bones. She instinctively clutched her staff tightly until her knuckles turned white and then continued to look around the room. There were others, five more actually, all standing in front of doors identical to the one Era had stepped out of, but before Era could survey them, her attention was pulled to the center of the room where a young woman and a man, both emanating an aura of power and grace were sat. The young woman stood first from her seat and walked toward the group of four doors to Era's left. She said something, Era could not hear what her said to the four.

Era had no time to contemplate what was going on as the tall man crossed his arms and spoke to the group of four that included Era, and this time Era could hear him. "Congratulations." Era's brow furrowed at the words and she looked closely at the man. She could see that, unlike the young woman standing near him, he was no human with his unheeding posture and his unnatural poise. His gaze was sharp and Era almost felt the need to turn away, yet out of pride and curiosity -and perhaps something akin to stupidity- she did not. Era felt her anger at this man's cold stare and his even colder attitude flare up for no reason other than she had already been having a bad day. And so, despite the fact that this man seemed to be staring into her soul, Era mumbled a very sarcastic, "Thanks. I do my best," just loud enough for the man to hear. She mentally slapped herself for letting the words come out so sarcastically, but she squinted at the man unflinchingly. What was going on here? 'This is a dream, remember?' Era told herself. A strange, oddly realistic dream filled with people she had never seen before, but a dream no less, and there was no point in getting angry at a dream. Yet, that same feeling that Era had gotten when she had "awoken" in the other room, nagged at the back of her mind. This was not just another dream and she knew it. 'Maybe I'm finally losing it. Maybe I'm finally going insane from the confinement of the city.' Era's palms began to sweat nervously and the feathers on her arms ruffled once more with the need to fly if only to release some of this nervous energy.

To her right, Era heard the cat-like girl mumbled, "Who are you, where am I, and why am I here?" Era had to admit that she was curious herself. Whether this was a dream or whether this was simply her mind finally cracking, Era had a feeling that this was an important event. She shifted her gaze to the man in the center of the room who had spoken before. He had a glint in his eyes that made Era believe that he knew everything, and seeing as he had been the first one to greet them, Era was willing to bet that he knew what was going on more than any of them. If anyone was going to tell her what was happening, then it would be him.
