Desmond hadn’t just refused Star without consequence. His will against those eyes was weaker now that he had evolved and no longer had the call of his ring to hold him back. If that vampire hadn’t tried to munch on his friend he might have let loose on something else. Luckily his mind was preprogramed to protect as it was his base nature and rather than his aura going free he was able to channel that power to his hand and use it to kill the enemy he saw. Kalen had also helped, as her eyes were what brought him back the moment she interrupted. Usually a released Hirule would lose their senses instantly under a Kitsune Spell, but Kalen had a way of bringing him down to Earth… usually… but had he been exposed for any longer it would have been a different story, and everyone in the room would have been in real danger.

Kalen sighed as Desmond made a gun and shot the vampire with his fingers; that was beyond showing his power it was pure annoying in her eyes, “Did you really need those theatrics?”

Desmond hadn’t realized just how complex his magic had become when he first returned, but it was clear to him now. “Yes, I did actually…” Desmond said in response to Kalen’s comment. She rolled her eyes. But they really were needed for him now. The energy at the tip of his finger was of one type and flow, and there had been another kind in his thumb that he had not let exit his skin, he then let them combine which fired the two as his aura acted as a guide for them. This was what the ring’s usually did. Three steps; they regulated the energy allowing only so much to flow both into and out of the physical world, they controlled the powers and auras of hirules so that they could use their abilities freely, and they combined the various energies to get the desired results without the Hirule having to think about those combinations actively in a fight.

Desmodn now had to do all this on his own, and if his mind was any less sharp it might be beyond difficult, if it was as dull as Shad’s, Desmond thought, it wouldn't even be possible.

“Now then, where are our hosts I wonder? They are rather poor at their jobs these, Game Masters, here we are awaiting instructions and they have yet to send even a pawn to direct us on what to do next… it’s different here on the other side of the screen.” He commented nonchalantly glancing about.
