KILLING GOD

[][II]]][][ ]]][]]II][]III][[[]] IIII[][][[[][][][]II[]IIIII[][[][II]]][][ ]]][]]II][]III]

For a split second before the last moment before you inhale that final breathe is a moment of reflection. In that moment that may feel like hours, but in reality is perhaps no less than a millisecond there is something you hold onto. Something that you refuse to let go of. Something that dims the light of your soul tainting it with a dark obsession that can be described by a single common word.

Regret.

This Regret causes a soul to stray from it's correct course. Spinning out of control in a completely foreign direction where souls will become void of ever moving on. In a seemingly godless world, the creator hear's the cries of these souls and reaches out with tender finger tips to pull them back from the brinks of purgatory.

The Last 100

-Joseph Halberd

"Welcome to Eden....your pitiful souls have become fortunate enough to earn another chance at life....Look to your left. Now your right. Kill them. You must kill them all if you desire to return to your normal life..." Through the wooden floor of the Holy cross Cathedral Seph could hear the choir of Angels begin their introduction to the final hundred members to the 'game'. It was a moment that made it difficult for him to breathe. He closed his eyes meditating for a split second to collect himself and then spoke into his mic. He gave the order for the D squads to begin the distraction. Then turned to his team, who were all standing behind him in the cold dusty tunnel and nodded for them to get ready. The Angels were reaching the end of the introduction. "...The last living human will be allowed to leave the city....Good luck to you all." Like a group of steel faced soldiers, the Angels exited the cathedral leaving the new players yelling for more answers after them.

Seph burst through the trap door behind the preacher's podium. Some of his team members climbing out behind him. Flipping his hood off his head, he frantically waved his arms in the air trying to grab their attention. "Everyone!! Please! Listen to me! You're all in danger! I can take you to safety! Just follow me, quickly!" The mass of people filling the church simply stared back at him in either confusion or disbelief. They murmured amongst themselves. In sheer seconds the murmurs grew to unruly shouts of rage. "Calm Down! You have to come with me or you're all going to DIE!"

With that last word an explosion rocked the cathedral throwing everyone to their knees. An enormous cloud of dark smoke billowed through the new gap in the front of the church followed by the sounds of bullets being fired and the dying screams of the people they hit. Seph pulled himself back up and yelled one last time. "HURRY!!!!" In a wide spread panic every mobile person scattered for the podium. Seph and his team members reached out, pulling up every person they could. The attackers came into view, moving into the cathedral in a wide single line. Seph thrust a hand into the air. "Return fire!" Half of his team members on the floor pulled out their fire arms and did just as their leader ordered. The attackers pulled back, disappearing back through the hole in that they created. "Cease fire!" The sound of gun shots ceased. Only the sound of debris falling from the ceiling and the wails of the wounded could be heard echoing through what was left of the building.

"This is our chance! Go! Go! Go!" he urged everyone to keep moving through the tunnel from above ground. He jumped down from where he stood searching for the wounded who were still alive. Among the the piles of lifeless lukewarm bodies, he found a woman crawling across the floor treading blood behind her. He picked the woman up, holding her in his arms. He turned to gaze out through the chasm in time to see several grenades being tossed into what was left of the cathedral. "Shit!' Seph turned to run with the heat of the blast at his back.
