Through the Dreamworld Portal, beyond the Realm of the Undying, an ancient malevolence festered in hatred, anger and anticipation of its eventual return. It had been cast into the Realm of Nothingness after it had been banished from the terrestrial planetoid called Earth. It feared that its power was not yet sufficient enough to traverse the billions of light years which lay between its realm and that of Terra. The Dweller was determined to revisit the blue world and become its conqueror, but for now he sought revenge, in order to accomplish that he needed some help. The Dweller Projected its thought outward beyond the confines of its realm, and after much effort it eventually succeeded in penetrating the Realm of the Beasts, presenting itself to the lord of that domain.

The technologically advanced Dark Beast fashioned a device that could carry thought waves across vast epochs of space/time. The device enhanced the accuracy and strength of his thought projections, enabling The Dweller's mind to reach the planet Earth, and to interact with his intended targets; those who played a significant role in his banishment to the Realm of Nothingness. The Dweller's mechanically enhanced telekinetic powers snatched several humanoid beings from their reality and placed them in a pocket dimension, an artificially-created universe which exists within the bounds of the Realm of the Undying. This pocket universe is known as The Realm of Exiles.
