Alice wanted nothing more to be out of there when Wendy turned to her. Awkward was a huge understatement. "Oh, Hello Alice nice to see you, When did you get here?' Wendy asked her politely, but she could see a flicker of mistrust in her eyes. Hurt. This was exactly what she had wanted to avoid- her guilt threatened to swallow her whole. She opened her mouth, then closed it again as she struggled for the right words.
"Yea, Alice. What brings you here?" Alli's eyes flicked to Peter when he spoke. Avoiding Wendy's steady gaze, she squared her shoulders and flicked back her light blonde hair with a light smile. "I was on my way to visit the queen when I heard the storm coming. I've always been somewhat frightened by thunderstorms, so I took shelter in the closest place I could find. Peter let me in, but I'm not surprised that he doesn't remember. He was half asleep."
She offered Wendy a half assuring smile, trying to ease the pain in her eyes and her own guilt. She really wasn't a very good liar but she really hoped she was believable.
"Anyways, do you mind helping a bit? I'm not usually this clumsy." She chuckled, glancing at Peter with a smile as she held up her bleeding hand and suppressing a wince. "Somehow I managed to fall, cut my hand, and get a splinter. Sorry."
