He relaxed a little as Kit came into sight, clearly frightened, but also uninjured. "I'm fine, Kit. Nothing's broken. I'll be fine," he reassured her. "And besides, we'll need that money for other things, right? Seeing as all he could remember was the institute, his ideas of how things worked in the real work were a little... shaky, at best. Kit had been his saviour when it came to that.
But as her skin grew all the paler, his grin turned into a frown. He straightened up, wincing a little, and made his way over to her. "Are you okay? You're not hurt, are you?" On a practical level, there was no way in hell that he could survive out here without her. He only had a hazy idea of the workings of the real world, and would surely give himself away long before he figured everything out. On a personal level, he didn't want to have to try and survive without her. She was his best friend, and she was all that had kept him sane over the past few months. His mental block wasn't improving- but he knew that he hadn't had a second chance. Accept the mental block, or become a weapon.
"Please don't turn into an animal on me, because it'll be a bit noticeable if I go wherever we're going with a lion trotting along beside me," he joked, just wanting to make her feel better.
