The Truth of the Prophecy was that it was really a story with many different endings, each one a possible future. Mizuki was doing her best to guide the timeline along the path that would take them to the ending in which Yui was given the free will to decide her destiny for herself, the moment the Light Seed fully matures. It's a constant in every ending, that horrible date looming down on them. 2045 was the deadline, almost exactly halfway through the year the Light Seed would mature. They had two and a half years before it would all be over. "...No." Mizuki said, her expression darkening. "There's things you don't want to know. Just trust that I'll take us on a path to avoid the bad." One of the worst endings was where Mayumi's faction of Prometheus takes Yui and successfully implants her with their seed to forcibly give birth to a new Cocoon, one they could control from infancy.
There was a reason Mizu reacted with fear the moment she first laid eyes on Mayumi.
"We can just ask Damian if we want to know." Aria added with a half smile, knowing that the telepath was aware as well. That was still problematic, but it wasn't as bad as it could be. Damian did have the Prophecy yes... but the version Mizuki let him take from her head was simply the ending she was trying to go for. He didn't know about all of the branching paths that could lead them further down the road of tragedy and disaster. Now Yui was in a meditative trance, no doubt trying to pry open the first gate with the clues Mizu had given her. The Oracle looked exhausted as she watched, what had happened to the lively girl Aria wanted to protect? When had she become such a husk?
Then finally Yui seemed to awaken a portion of her power. She implanted her blood into the dragon, giving it extra power as the acidic blood laced where the air fangs were. Aria grinned and moved her arm, having the dragon snap at the air playfully. "Maybe we can beat the Black Reaper with this." Aria went to pat Yui on the head. "Over time we can come up with more complex combinations too. This one's pretty simple to start with." Simple, yet powerful. Maybe this would be all they would need.. but knowing Ronan and his ridiculous strength, he was probably being taught new tricks to trip them up in battle the next time they met.
"Listen carefully, please, Yui." Mizu interrupted, rubbing her eyes as if trying to stay awake. She was probably going to need a nap after this. "You can go to the second gate in an emergency... but don't go any farther. The farther you go, the easier it'll be for enemies to access your light." It would make her stronger for them, yes... but it would also ease the process to turn her into an Ultimate Weapon. "The rest of us will get stronger too, so Yui won't have to open more than the second gate." She was kind of curious about how many gates there were... but maybe it was better not to ask for now.
Anyways, this phase done, it was time for the second part. "Let's test your reflexes and reaction times now." She threw a chocolate bar at Yui and grinned. "I'll be using my wind to attack and try to steal it from you. Your job is to protect it. Whoever wins gets to eat it, okay?" She lunged then, sending gusts of wind to try to stun Yui for the easy grab.
