In Min City, there existed three major families. Controlling the Residential District, where the largest population of people lived, was the Langley Family. Old and powerful, the Langleys were in charge of many things. Building houses, property value, establishing parks and schools and other necessities was part of their duty. As for the Industrial District, it was under influence of the Remington family. You could consider them to be the most powerful of the three, and that was why they were in charge of the monetary powerhouse of the city. Under their foot were the big and small companies, the factories, and other such necessities residents wouldn't want near their homes. Last but not least was the Harrington family. They, too, were a very old family and they commandeered the Port District. This meant they had to do with foreign trade and imports, exports, as well as the fishing industry. They also were in charge of windmills and watermills to help power the city.

And together the three families worked in unison to keep their home strong and powerful.

Today, in the fancy Halloway Hall, an event was taking place. "Let's go, stop being so slow." Eamon scowled at her as she dawdled in her step. "Sorry." Erika said with a clear voice as she walked carefully around the puddles that fell the night prior. "Next time I'll be born with longer legs so as to not inconvenience anyone." Eamon groaned, shaking his head. "Y'know, if mom and dad just let us use magic this wouldn't be a big deal. I could teleport us over there!" Erika gave him a pointed look and put a finger to his mouth. "Shush, you can't be too careful. Next time let's just get the chauffeur to take us." Usually Eamon's familiar, Fiyero, drove them around but today he wanted to stay home and watch a soap opera on the television.

"Personally I'd rather stay home and practice my flute." She had fun with it, creating music was such a joy for the prodigy but Eamon grabbed her shoulders intently. "But the Remingtons invited us. Sera will be there, you know?" He was grinning at her and wiggled an eyebrow suggestively. "Did you two do it yet? How do girls even do it, anyway-" Erika kicked him in the shin and continued walking, never once losing her composure. "Ouch! That hurt! Ugh, let's just go, it's only a few minutes now anyways." Erika puffed her cheeks a little bit and quickened her pace. "Don't be crass, at least not in public."

They entered the Halloway Hall and all of it's red velvet glory. The seats were lined but near the top, special seats were always deserved for the three noble families. In the center was the Remington Family and Erika could spot her girlfriend's flaming red hair anywhere. The Langleys were on the Remington's other side, and the two brothers could be seen, along with their parents. It was dearly lonely, because two people were missing from the ensemble. Bayon Langley's wife, Miria, was killed by the CCC a while ago after being caught with magic. To make matters worse, Estelle was lost last year and everyone knew she was as good as dead.

Time moves on. Erika saw no reason to continue being sad. Estelle wouldn't want that.

As a formal outing, Erika couldn't contact Sera. But later on she would and they would have a little fun. As the prizes were shown - a fancy new dresser made by a master woodsmith, the world's prettiest piano with the most pristine sound to it's keys, even a recipe for a delicious new cake that had just been invented. Erika didn't personally want to buy anything but it was interesting to watch the lesser wealthy squabble over what they wanted. Sometimes Eamon would pitch in with no intention to buy, just to make the lessers bid higher in hopes of receiving their prizes.

"Hey, next on the list is the cat." Eamon nudged her with a quiet whisper. Erika glanced at the schedule and shrugged. What did it concern her, anyways? "Come on, don't be boring. I know you love touching furry things. You couldn't stop touching Julian's pet ferret the other day." Erika stared at him, almost defensively. "Soft is nice." She whispered and then stared as the curtains opened to reveal the latest showpiece. It was a tiny little cat girl, just a teensy but shorter than Erika herself was. Her fur was white and she sat in a cage, looking terrified. This sparked something within the prodigy. Seeing such a defenseless creature in such a manner was beyond horrible.

You see, Erika had a secret. There was a new crime fighter in town these days, a vigilante. They called her the Blue Lotus and she served to protect the weak against the cruelties of the strong. It was a chance to let her hair down and truly be whatever she wanted, free of the constraints of blood and money. Of course, no one knew it was her. "Is that within our budget?" She asked curiously and Eamon shook his head. "Uh, of course not! Dad would kill us if we spent that much on a servant! You should just summon a familiar or something, that way it'd be for free!" Still, Erika couldn't help being transfixed with the feline, staring at it the entire time it was it's turn on stage.

Eventually someone did bid on the Kitty. It was a small family, the Cawthons. "Poor thing." Eamon said with a roll of the eye. "The Cawthons are likely to turn her into a doll and leave her alive but unmoving as her nerves are all severed." He shrugged as if it didn't particularly bother him. "Well, let's go back home. The parents will be waiting, Berry." Erika nodded, calmly leaving her seat. "We showed our faces to honor the invitation, that should suffice Lord Manfred." Lord Manfred, also known as the head of the Remington household.

She had a job to do. Luckily, in her purse, was the Blue Lotus costume, ready at any time. All she needed was an excuse to get away from her brother's watchful eye. "I should say hi to Seraphina. You can go home first." Eamon glanced but shrugged. "Fine. I gotta get back to make sure Fiyero's not doing anything uncouth." He left her and Erika knew precisely what she was going to do. It would be risky, but if she could cast her shadow magic, she could reach the Cawthon home first and rescue the kitty before it was too late for her. For some reason, at the chance to deliver justice, her cheeks almost lit up with pink excitement. There was nothing quite like being a hero, was there? Estelle was always obsessed with justice, she would be proud.
