The pitter pat of panicked child's feet scampered across the dusty streets of Min City's unofficial Slum District. They were still following him, but he was so tired. He was just a kid, how was he supposed to outrun the wrath of an adult? Crying as he sprinted again he saw the Wall of Glory staring down at him, a prison cage locking him in the city half of Min City. No doubts even if the guards at the toll would ignore his plight if they saw him - they cared not for the plight of those trapped on the wrong side of the city. If anything, it might just serve as entertainment for them, couldn't it? "Someone!" He shouted to the sky, knowing his legs were failing, he couldn't keep this up. "Someone please help me!"
Something zoomed past him and then the next second, two figured emerged from the shadow of the Wall of Glory itself. The first was a girl in blue, sporting a long cape that trailed behind her in a show of utter impracticality. The other girl was wearing a luxurious red outfit and it was clear from the material that both came from the other side of the wall, the land of riches and privilege. "Did someone ask for help?" Behind the two girls were the three men who were giving chase. There was a clear ring leader - the other two were friends of the leader. "They're trying to kidnap me!" The boy yelled, aiming his finger at the three men in dark colors. Blue took a defensive stance between the boy and the kidnappers then, holding her arm out. It was clear that there was a lot of magical energy coming from the two girls.
"My, my. The Blue Lotus is here to protect the weak!" Blue Lotus? What was a blue lotus? The boy shook his head, no, that didn't matter. What mattered was that he was saved from this nightmare. "Now please, tell me what's happening. I wouldn't want to have to use magic to solve this." Her hand was glowing, there was more magic stored within, just waiting to be released. "...Ever since the Magic Doctor vanished, things've been harder on those who need regular medicine but can't afford it." The ringleader said in a low grumble. "My wife suffers from Pangolin Disease, where her skin hardens like a hedgehogs and eventually she won't be able to move." It was a terminal ailment, the only thing they could do was keep the transformation at bay using a special medication that is only really buyable if you live on the other side of the Wall. Eventually they can't move and an IV feed is impossible because the skin has hardened like crystal. Sufferers tend to starve to death, a slow and painful way to go.
"This kid is the son of Wallers." Wallers is what the poor people refer to as the wealthy but non noble families on the other side. Those lucky enough to see the Wall as protection, not as a prison. "His parents saw pity on us and helped with a fundraiser to support my wife ever since the Mage vanished... but it was all a trick. They lied and cheated us and stole all the raised funds and ran away. So I'm taking their kid in order to get back the money I need to save my wife!" Blue crossed her arms as she pondered this new information. "Your situation is tragic, but there is no reason to target a child when it's the parents who sinned." Blue decided, cape billowing in the wind. "What was I supposed to do? The cheats are hiding safe on the other side that we can't afford to get to! This is the only chance I have to get my money back!" The ringleader fell to his knees, sobbing. "What am I supposed to do, just let the love of my life die before my eyes?" No matter how long he worked, he would never be able to afford the treatment on a slummer's salary.
"Red, what do you think?" Blue asked her partner with a curious sort of expression. "To serve justice, what should we do here?"
