|| Need you Now || Lady Antebellum ||
The world was silent now. Erika stared at nothing, trying to hear, desperately hoping that maybe something could save her from the silence. How could she ever play the flute again? How could she ever dive back into the wonderful world of music to give her mind peace? Nothing was making sense and she didn't know what to do. Seraphina was hugging her with her one good arm, trying to comfort her with tender touches. "It'll be okay." She said softly, brushing her hair. Erika could not hear her, she shook her head in confused despair. What was life without music? What was she going to do now? "She lost her hearing." Sera told Eamon as he and Khryia sprinted in to see her in her room. "Of course. Mom's blind too, everyone lost something." Eamon balled his hands into fists, he was unable to do anything to help anyone, he was just useless.
Erika whimpered and heard nothing. She asked for Clover but heard nothing, even as Khryia cried and clung to her, wailing out of grief for both Master and for Clover and how she would protect them from now on. "I'll guard you two with my life, I promise, Master!" Khryia wept, wiping her eyes. "I'll take baths, I'll rip off my scales, I'll do anything! I'll make things better, okay, Master?" She began to bite at her scales, crying and shaking. "Clover hates me." She said with a sad moan. "Because I smell and I can't help it because I'm a dragon." Erika could feel the shaking of her familiar against her own body but she couldn't do anything to help her because she didn't know why she was crying so all the shadow mage did was rub a hand against her, giving Eamon her best confident smile, which was more like a sobbing wreck of a face.
Eventually Erika was allowed in to see Clover, Khryia having run far away to cut off her scales in a desperate attempt to make life easier for poor Clover who had to suffer her smell all the time. Seraphina was the one to help Erika in despite having lost an arm and lost her chance to ever be a pianist ever again. Predictably, Maple had come first and was already there. "Hey, Clover. Looks like you're not unscathed either." Erika looked up to try to read Sera's lips but found that she couldn't. "Everyone lost something. Your sister there can't smell anymore, my right arm is dead, Erika can't hear. And you're in bad shape too." Sera helped Erika closer to Clover, allowing both girls to hug. Erika mouthed 'I love you.', knowing Clover couldn't hear. And then she kissed her.
