Her full attention finally focuses on Kat, who very much deserves it. "Poptarts are carbs! And carbs soak it up. Or is that starches? You know, I never really enjoyed those health classes they made us take in middle school and freshman year," she admits that her knowledge is pretty shaky when it comes to dietary needs and requirements. In this category, Kat is certainly the more reliable source of information.
Mina jumps to Kat's side, and Em smiles and shrugs knowing she is half-heartedly fighting a losing battle. "Alright, alright. Victory snacks it is! And luckily for you, I am completely lacking in creativity when it comes to drinks, so I'll settle for a vodka cranberry juice. Or maybe we can do a round of shots together, to bring in the new summer? Our final summer?" The last tack-on is half meant to encourage leniency, but ultimately makes Em a little sad to think about. After spending all of her life at Laurel, the idea of leaving it within the next year is incredibly daunting. Especially as she hasn't started any college applications yet due to sheer nervousness that seems to overtake her anytime she starts them. It's as though beginning an application will push her closer to the future and further from Laurel, something that makes her incredibly antsy to think about.
Em links her arms with Mina and Kat, and then smiles with a renewed brightness that comes from a valiant effort at pushing down those thoughts. "Shall we?"
