"Got it! I got it!" Callisto committed the address to memory as the sounds of fighting filled the room. She looked up, spotting a vent and clambered to her feet. Callisto wasn't strong, but she was determined. She grabbed the sink counter and hauled herself up, standing on the ledge. Carefully, Callisto began to unscrew the cap. She winced, her fingers hurt, her pinkie had dislocated. "Come on Cali, you can do this." The door burst open, an android wearing a black mask burst inside and grabbed her. "We got her! Let's go!"
"Oh no you don't!" Jace yelled, cutting the android down the middle. Callisto dropped, rolling, her hip dislocating. She pushed it back into place and army crawled forward, towards the open door. She looked back, her eyes widening. Jace had killed the android, split down the center, the game was over. "We need to ru-"
"Jace!" She dropped to the ground, seizing. Someone had tazed her, shorting out her electrical circuits. The androids were all wearing black masks. "You're gonna take a nice nap now," there was a smile in their voice as they pushed her head into the carpet and dragged her towards the door. "Let me go!" Callisto screamed, grabbing the metal tray and throwing it at the android that had her. They collapsed and the idol unit sprung to her feet, thanking Dr. Grover for her agility. She ran towards the bedroom, frantically trying to call someone, anyone. Minnie didn't pick up, neither did Fina.
"I have a clear view, I'm taking the shot."
Something tor through her skin, the window shattering. Callisto's eyes widened as she fell out of the open glass, tumbling downwards. "Jace, I'm sorry," she whispered, something hooking around her spine just before she hit the ground. She hung limply, two halves jerked out of their sockets. Callisto couldn't move, but she was conscious.
"THE GAME IS NOW OVER!" The broadcast was loud, it was carnage in the streets, androids lay dead in all manner of ways, oil and wires spilling into the streets. Some were crushed with cars, others lay in half, one even had a spatula flung through its eye socket. Callisto felt sick, the sound of sirens was in the distance, no doubt humans had been hurt too. Slowly, Callisto was reeled in, like a fish on a hook, until she was at the top of a building. The hook was not wrapped around her middle, but shot through her stomach, its talons having been what kept her from hitting the ground.
She was not dead, but she did not feel pain either. "What did you do with Jace?"
"The combat unit completed the objective, she will live another round."
"Where are you taking me?" There was no answer as the hand reached behind her head, forcing a reboot.
"Callisto Fuyumi, AKA Project Xena," the voice had a smile in it. Code was running across her eyes, her neck was plugged into a USB outlet as the holes in her body were patched. "What do you want with me?" The android asked, finding her voice. "You did it, you found me, but you weren't part of the game." The code abruptly stopped, her vision clearing. "A human inside of an android, but why? What did Grover want with you?"
"I don't understand."
"You're a cheat code, Cali, therefore, I've removed you from the game. It would be no fun if it ended too quickly."
"Why are you doing this?"
"To teach that bitch a lesson, she fired me, she ruined me! Now, I'm going to ruin her."
"You're killing people!"
"Oh they were useless in the first place, even you know that. You though, you were always different. Dr. Grover had her eye on you from the day made that presentation on utilizing pill technology to attack and repair tumors. You already had cancer, but you were standing on stage, your sister by your side. Where is she now? She abandoned you, didn't she?"
"No, Io is out there, I know it."
"You thought she was the special one, didn't you? I know what it's like. Twins, one always pushed to the verge, the other neglected, ignored, their genius berated because they didn't have textbook smarts. Your sister was like that, wasn't she?"
"I appreciated Io," Callisto whispered. "I haven't stopped trying to find her." The holo pad, she had left it at home, she had found where Fina was. Hopefully Jace had headed there to help her. A cruel laugh grated her ears. "Too bad you'll never see her again." I might not be able to get a virus in you, but you're an android now and rules number one of androids? They must obey the humans."
"What are you going to do with me?"
"You're part of the game now, the grand prize, so to speak, or maybe, the final challenge."
