Rather lacklustre to be honest. I'd made plans with my one friend to do stuff together, but all he wanted to do was sit at home because the NHL (National Hockey League) free agency had opened up that day and he wanted to see who was going to get traded. I had to push him out of house and even then, he managed to drag me back to his house eventually. It only got good once we left for the fireworks, but all my friend could do was complain about all the mosquitos so we left right after the fireworks instead of joining the regular festivities. Then we got home and had a real heart to heart talk till three in the morning, but I don't count heart to hearts as a part of my celebrations.

Needless to say, I'm never celebrating a national holiday with that friend ever again.

Well on my end... I'm not having a good time right now.

I was fully prepared to see Brazil lose this game, because Germany is a strong team to beat, but... WTF, man... 5-0 in less than 30min...

It was awesome. It was an outdoor concert and it rained as if God was setting up for another great flood. But I stayed and waited for Styx to come out. They rocked pretty hard and I got pretty close the the front of the crowds. Near the end of the concert, Larry Gowen (the lead singer of Styx, who replaced Dennis Deyoung) was left on stage alone. He stood at his electric piano and played some other bands' music; from the Rolling Stones and whatnot. While he was alone on stage, the rain let up and a rainbow came out... but not one rainbow... a double rainbow appeared. He pointed it out to the crowd and everyone cheered as he started playing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". Anyways, Styx was awesome.
Oh and during the rain, my girlfriend and I got adopted by this French Canadian couple, who were smoking and drinking (in true French Canadian style). They had an umbrella and they let us under it with them while we watched the concert. It was quite amusing

Between Styx and Foreigner, there was an hour break. At one of the other stages, one of the band members from the Eagles was there and he was playing a bunch of Eagles stuff. I didn't go to see it, but I could hear, clear as day, Hotel California being played. It sounded so good and I was really happy because I always wanted to at least be able to listen to the Eagles live and that is the only chance I'll probably ever get.

Then came Foreigner. We weren't as close to the stage this time... actually, we were probably about 400-500 meters away on a hill where almost no one else seemed to be. It was the best view by far however and it didn't matter that much that we weren't close because we could still hear them clear as day and there was a big screen that allowed us to get an up close look on it all. They were so good. Their lighting and pyro effects were great and the original singer for them just so happened to join them for one song. By far, the clearest sounding live concert I have ever seen too. When the encore started, we decided to beat the rush to the buses by walking to our bus stop while they played. The bus stop was probably about 3-4km away, but we could still hear them as they played their final song.

It was such a great experience and such a great atmosphere. I really hope I can get a chance to go next year. Usually there is at least one person at Ottawa Blues Fest worth seeing.

Hey guys, I know it's my turn to reply on the pad... and I have next post on the tab... basically I'm the one holding everything up, but... I probably won't be writing anything today. Maybe later if I manage to nap right now, but probably not. I'm sicky again and really tired. I expect to feel better tomorrow. :/

I'm a little better on the sense that the headaches and ear aches and slight dizziness caused by my inflamed sinuses have subsided, but I'm just really groggy and tired.

I won't lie... I slept through most of the game so I'm sort of glad it's on overtime. :P
