{ "In peace, sons bury their fathers. In war, fathers bury their sons"
}
-Herodotus
Kesuk is a man of few words. He prefers to listen rather than to speak, although he has no problem talking when he needs to, or when spoken too. Some people describe his calm demeanor as cold even uncaring, but most times it was not intended. Kesuk prefers to act rather than speak, often acting in spontaneous ways.
He often stays his distance from strangers, preferring his book to starting interactions. This is not to say that he doesn’t enjoy some social activities, it’s just that more often than not, he’d prefer to be alone than with a crowd of loud people. If you are one of the few he is close with he doesn’t mind giving his piece of wisdom on topics, or lending an ear to listen to your problems. Having lost those closest to him he is protective of those he has left.
He is very analytical of things, his silence allowing him to gauge the situation before acting. He likes to plan his actions carefully, as to make as little mistakes as possible. He is very patient, and has no problem sitting still for hours on end.

Northern Water Tribe
|{History}|
Kesuk was born in the Northern Water Tribe. His mother was one of the keepers of the Spirit Oasis and his father was a blacksmith. Since his father was a skilled artisan he was one of the main suppliers for the NWT Army. This kept their family well off, and enabled Kesuk to have a happy childhood. He was always smiling when he was younger, and never afraid to say hi. As his mother was a keeper of one of the most spiritual places in the world he and his family had always been very observant of spirits. He would often accompany his mother to the Oasis when he was little, he was always excited to see Tui and La. As he aged it became his escape from the world, a place he could come to in times of stress.
Once he became old enough, he began to work under his father at the forge, basically taking the role as apprentice. What was at first a demanding chore grew to be something he looked forward to. He learned to appreciate fine craftsmanship, and to value hard work. The only other person who worked in the forge was Akkato, his father’s teacher, who became closer and closer with Kesuk each day. It was him who taught him swordsmanship, to never rely too much on his bending.
After the Tsumi Ribasu attack that took his parents when he was a teenager (purposefully left vague) he moved to live with Akkato. He took his mother’s place at the Oasis and became Akkato’s full on apprentice simultaneously. It was then he grew into the quiet person he is now. Life grew somewhat monotonous for him, that is, until he met the Avatar.
