"Why the hell not," She shrugged as she put the helmet on.
"If you even think of laughing at me for wearing this, I push you off," She teased.
The second Josh left Marcus and Brenda alone, the second she knew what he was planing. He was trying to hook up Marcus and Brenda up. Brenda got a little irritated by what Josh had done, but her focus immediately went to Marcus as he cleared his throat. "So, I think we should take a rain check on this whole hanging out type of thing." Brenda said sternly. "I think it'll be better for the both of us if we just called it a night, okay Marcus?" With that, Brenda left Marcus in the kitchen. Brenda walked out and told Mijo to lock up before he leaves. He nodded and with that she got into her car.
She drove for about an hour until she realized she needed gas. It didn't look so good however, because she was in a rougher part of town and she needed to fill up quickly. Brenda got as far as she could before she stopped at Citgo. Normally Citgo's are very clean and runned properly, but this Citgo was very rough. Brenda got out of her car quickly to fill up. Once she was done, she headed inside to pay the nice looking lady. As Brenda started to approach the register she realized she hadn't eaten all day, so she went to get her favorite candy. Brenda always enjoyed kit kats, even as a child it was her favorite candy. Brenda was ready to leave the register to pay, but all of a sudden she heard the lady scream. Brenda ducked behind the farthest aisle, as she heard shouting. She grabbed her phone and dialed for 911. "Hello?" she whispered, "I'm Brenda Pedersen and I am at Citgo gas station on Grandview Avenue, and there is a man here robbing the store." She told the lady. "Please come quickly, I am scared. The man appears to have a gun and a baseball bat. I'm in the back of the store trying not to make any noise. Please come quickly!" She continued to whisper as she pleaded to the lady to send the cops quick.
Brenda hung up and sat there. She waited patiently for the cops to arrive. While she was waiting, Brenda grabbed a small necklace from her purse. A necklace that Marcus had given her in the 7th grade. He told her that if she was ever scared, she should grab this and think of him being there protecting her. She has kept it all these years and every time Brenda would get scared, she would hold onto it. It meant so much to her that she takes it with her everywhere.
After a few minutes, she heard sirens go off. It sounded like they were really close, and the guy at the register probably knew that because Brenda saw him go out the front door. She got up and started walking towards the cop who was standing there asking the woman behind her if she was alright. The cop asked her basic information, which Brenda answered with no problem. About ten minutes went by and Brenda was allowed to return to her car and go home. The cop was nice enough to escort her home. Brenda got inside her apartment, and went straight to bed. "Man, today has been one rough day," She mumbled. "Hopefully tomorrow will go much better."
Josh pulled up to a bar. Well, it didn't look like much of a bar, more like a run down restaurant. Some of the letters in the large neon sign were burned out. The roof tiles were warped in places and bleached out by the harsh sunlight. The place was simply called "Surf Shack".
Excited, Josh took off his helmet and hustled up to the door, grabbing it before Cierra got the chance. Immediately, the sounds of Robin Thicke came from the open door.
He beckoned her inside, "Come on, Cy, it's time to have some fun."
"At least let me get a drink first!" She called out. She sat at the bar.
"Cierra!" The bartender smiled at her.
"Letmme guess, a La Flor like usual?"
"What else would I order?" Cy smiled. She loved it at the Surf Shack, it looked tacky, but she loved it. A man sat next to her.
"Cierra!" He smiled as he spoke to her in his thick accent.
She smiled and motioned for Josh to come over.

After last nights events, Brenda was glad that it was a new day. She got up early this morning to take a quick jog around her neighborhood. She returned and took a shower. She got dressed in her usual work outfit and went out. "Hopefully today will just be a normal day." Brenda said getting into the car. "I don't need any more encounters like last night. I wonder if I should mention this to Marcus." She thought out loud as she got to a stop light. She waited until she heard her phone go off. She got a text from Marcus saying that they needed to talk. Brenda got nervous. "Oh boy, this doesn't sound good." She said nervously as she got a green. She shortly arrived at the restaurant.
Josh smiled warmly as Cierra darted past him, unshocked that she frequented this bar. Everyone who knew how to be cool came to the Surf Shack. He waved to the bartender, signaling his order for the usual beer. His beer met him at his seat that he took at the bar next to Cierra.
"Hey," he mumbled to the bartender, "She's on my tab tonight. Don't let her rob me blind." The bartender laughed.
"Cy, I'm shocked," he said, taking a drink of his beer, "I never would have expected that you were such a fan of this lovely dive bar. Dare I say, that you might actually be cool?" He chuckled.
"Josh, this is one of my roommates, Tyler," Cierra pointed to the man beside her.
With his free hand, Josh took Tyler's hand and shook it, "Hey man, how's it going? I have some money riding on this question, so is Cierra really messy at home? She was really clean and straight-laced at school back in the day, and I always thought she was a secret slob at home." Josh took another drink of his beer with a smile on his face.
