Physical Description: Appears as a humanoid white fox with nine long tails and a shaggy mane. His left eye is wounded, as seen by the large blue scar over it. He's garbed in a black vest (lined orange), red hakama, three-layered spaulders, a han kote on his right forearm, and a red scarf tied with a round bell.
Personality: He may seem like a smart-aleck most of the time, but he holds a lot of wisdom, too. He actually acts all cheery to mask his grief - a traumatic event from before his time jump has scarred him for life, to which he promised to keep on smiling...for her.
History: Long ago, he was a prince of the house of Hogosha, which reigned over the citadel of Tensho. However, he felt he was better at protecting individuals than a whole city. For that, he became a bodyguard-for-hire - and that's how he came to meet Jun'ai, the princess of the Iwaki nation. Her skill as a miko was unmatched, and that's what saved him from mortal injury by awakening his hidden Yokai side. Through devotion and trust, Kokonotsu continued his work while growing closer with Jun'ai. He even sacrificed his humanity to protect her from a fatal blow. That same attacker later killed Jun'ai (not before her newborn child could be saved), an event that left Ko in shock. In pursuit of this assailant, he ended up getting flung through time, returning to Earth when the seal on a magic mirror was opened. From then on, he was a guide to other soon-to-be-heroes, preparing them for what was about to come at them. During this time, he heard talk that Jun'ai might be alive in this era...
Equipment: He wields a powerful modified Kyuusuto channel. This octagon-shaped channel doubles as an offensive and defensive weapon. Its blade is flanked by eight smaller hook blades, which latch through foes to grapple them. He also wields a bladed kiseru as a quicker sub-weapon, as well as for inhaling floral incense (using foxfire to cut health risks). Both are made from an orichalcum/silver alloy, making their endurance and purifying effects greater.
Abilities: As far as chakra go, Kokonotsu is very adept in those of Fire and Ice elements. However, he also wields chakra of Earth, Time, and Shadow elements. He utilizes them for aggressive approach, defense, and bewilderment. He can also withstand extreme temperatures. In fact, assimilating the essences of cold or heat can let him take on two different forms - the frozen Fallen Heart form and the rocketing Seraph Heart form. Another thing to note - he found that trust with his client (as a bodyguard) will benefit the both of them in many ways.
Other: Like any Yokai, he's vulnerable to injuries from iron weapons - it disrupts a Yokai's chi-based healing. However, a strong enough Yokai, one that escalates to the level of an Angel, can resist iron to a degree. Kokonotsu rarely makes it known that he himself has reached Angel status...

- Foxflame: Fire chakra. A homing fireball that pursues even past solid objects.
- Inferno: Fire chakra. Surrounds self in a large pillar of flames.
- Sunshower: Fire chakra. Turns fire into beams of light, which rain down upon foes.
- Flash-Freeze: Ice chakra. Directs a focus, which then bursts into quick-freezing magic.
- Snowstorm: Ice chakra. Summons a blistering-cold wind, carrying many icy fragments.
- Icicle Crash: Ice chakra. Sends spears of ice raining down at a precise angle.
- Desert Mirage: Earth chakra. Casts a wave of strange sand forth that distorts the vision of any struck foes.
- Crystal Wall: Earth chakra. Fuses sand into a solid crystal, made for blocking off attacks.
- Counter-Paradox: Time chakra. Quickly evades an attack and leaves behind a swath of temporal bursts.
- Chrono Cut: Time chakra. Sprints forth at mach speed, leaving behind a rend across.
- Time Blitz: Time chakra. Warps to another point, leaving behind a burst of temporal energy.
- Shadow Drill: Shadow chakra. Dives forth with Kyuusuto, wrapping it in bands of shadow.
- Fox Shadow: Shadow chakra. Creates a living shadow to dog after foes.
- Dark Buster: Shadow chakra. Barrages foes with a directed beam of darkness.
- Highway Accident: A favored trick - uses illusory powers to manifest a car, which then zooms at the foe to run him/her over and explode into foxfire. Why a car, though...?
- Fallen Heart: Absorbs the essence of cold to turn into a frozen faceless golem. Very strong and unflinching, he's well-armored. This icy armor can be whittled away by fire attacks.
- Seraph Heart: Absorbs extreme heat to become a being of fire, eyes glowing bright and six flaming wings spread out. He can fly around at great speeds and launch all-consuming waves of foxfire. This will expire after a while.

Trivia
- Kokonotsu's name is literally Japanese for "nine", the number of tails he has. It's also a term relating to the Chinese magic square, the origin of sudoku.
- His last name, "Hogosha", is Japanese for "guardian". Since Kokonotsu is at Angel level, this makes him a "guardian angel".
- His channel's name, "Kyuusuto", literally means "nine strike". True to the name, it has a total of nine edges - eight hooks and one main blade.
- Foxfire is often attributed to kitsune, so of course Kokonotsu's main chakra element is Fire.
- His Seraph Heart form is named for the seraphim, angels affiliated with fire.
- Kokonotsu wears a red scarf. These are customary for statues of Inari foxes. Also, it is affixed with a suzu, a round bell often used by Shinto shrines.
- The scar over Ko's left eye is blue. All Yokai have differently-colored blood depending on their classification - animal Yokai like him have blue blood.
- Zenmei sometimes calls him "Ko-sensei". Since "ko" can mean "old", this may be a sly insult. Ekiyu is more respectful of him, though, calling him "Koko-sensei".
- The reason his eye's sclera is lavender-colored is so it doesn't blend with his white fur.
