Tony Griffin

"Stay still and shut up. This will only hurt for a second."

Description

Image

Name: "They called me Griff when I was younger, and crazier. Tony is fine." Tony Griffin
Age: "Getting so that I'm not quite young anymore." 27
Gender: "I'm available, ladies!" Male
Position: Tony is one of the testers of the facility. He focuses more on the science of it than the blunt violence and blood. He likes pumping them with chemicals to see how they react, or attaching them with electrodes and making them run for hours on a treadmill while administering electric shocks. He loves needles and injections and he keeps studious notes.
Power: "Please. If I had a power, I would be locked up, not working here."
History: "Nothing that involves you. Hmph." Tony found out about Infrai Island accidentally through his college. He started going to college at eighteen and got a doctorate in experimental science at age twenty-five. He saw a poster looking for testers interested in researching the powers that there were rumors going around about. This got him fascinated in the whole thing, and through a series of friends and secrets whispered in dark alleyways, he found out about Infrai Island and secured a job there.
He is now working towards an online degree in psychology.

Personality

Tony can be quite a charmer. He's charismatic and smooth-talking, good at manipulating people's emotions. He is self-absorbed and flighty as a summer breeze. Boredom is the most dangerous aspect of him-- he's bored very easily, and when he gets bored, he will do whatever he wants to amuse himself. And that usually means that the test subjects are in trouble.

He doesn't like you, and he doesn't care about your problems. He's rude, conceited, sarcastic, and not particularly pleasant to be around. But in the same strange way, Tony cares immensely what you think of him. He's obsessed with appearances. He wants you to like him, even as he injects poisons into your system. He pretends to be your friend.

Tony is a fashionista. He's obsessed with how he looks. He loves Italian coats and designer labels and crocodile-skin belts... if you wear sweater vests, or ignore a stain on your tie, or wear socks with sandals, he will slap you.

For all his faults, though, Tony knows how to treat a woman. He knows exactly the right way to make them buckle at the knees, the right things to whisper into their ear, the right way to brush their hair out of their face... he was quite the player in his youth, and never quite grew out of it. He finds being a tester immensely sexy. He gets off on it.

Equipment

Needles, treadmills, electrical shocks, adrenaline pills, infusion pumps, medical lasers, MRIs, scalpels... the list goes on and on. On top of it all, a sickeningly cheerful attitude.

So begins...

Tony
The footsteps of well-polished Nordstrom shoes sounded in the hall, accompanied by the sound of prisoners flinching away as Tony Griffin passed by their cell. Today the man wore a crisp, expensive Italian suit, perfectly matching his shoes. His hair was neatly combed back. He was the picture of perfection. Except for the blood stains splattering the neatly folded white lab coat he held over his arm.

The man sighed, glancing at his Rolex watch. "Nick?" he called, strolling down to the cell he needed and rapping on the bars. He lifted his eyebrow at the sight of fellow tester Nick Grieves standing over the motionless body of the cell's inhabitant, Andras. Tony had tested on Andras many times before.

"Nick!" he cried, stepping into the cell and nudging the boy's unconscious body distastefully with the tip of his toe. "Dear God. Tell me you didn't kill another; we're going to run out of test subjects if you keep--" He took a deep breath and massaged his forehead. "Cell 25. Vivian "Vivid", the girl with the chameleon skin. Why is there blood all over her cell?" He gave a stern look. "I heard those gunshots, you know. Why aren't you filing a report right now? We've had this conversation, you can't just go shooting subjects willy-nilly, this is for the purpose of testing. We need those reports."

Tony tended to look down on Nick for his violent tendencies. Sure, Tony could be just as sadistic at times, but his intention was always the furthering of science. These poor, disgusting, unfortunate souls were different from human beings. He was always searching for a "cure". And sure, if a few test subjects had to go through some pain for it-- well, the end justified the means. It was for their own betterment.

For this reason, Tony was always nagging Nick. Despite the two of them being of equal position here at Infrai Island.

"Like I haven't heard that one before." His tone was dry as he held down the button that would release the sedative until Nick was sure Andras was out, even pricking the other male with the knife he kept on him for such a purpose. No response. Even so, Nick hung on for a few moments before calmly stepping backwards - and nearly falling over at a yell. Thankfully, it had escaped from the subject in front of him. Although he wished it had. "If you would happen to check his pulse, you'll find he's still alive, Tony." Nick sounded like a depressed teenager placating his strict mother. It was funny - Tony and Nick were of similar ages, and shared exactly the same position here in the facility (being the owner's son didn't get him any extra privileges, save for the slight power, and he'd had to go through a fair bit of pain to acquire that), yet Tony acted almost like his boss. Frustrating, to say the least.

"The shots were for the purpose of testing." Rolling his eyes Nick prompted Tony to leave the cell and followed behind him, tugging the door shut. "I wanted to see if she could force the bullet out. She could, with no problems other than nausea." Then he folded his arms, smirking at the older co-worker. "I was going to file a report, but I stayed down here for a more benevolent reason. You did bring their food down for today, didn't you? It's all I've heard these people talking about for several days now."

Vivid's eyes shot wide open as the footsteps echoed down the hall. Nick, coming to hurt her again. She looked up. It was only Tony and Yohance. Much better than Nick. She stood up and noticed Tony looking at her, studying her really. She preferred Tony because he actually preformed cruel experiments purely for scientific purpose, not as a cruel heartless joke for enjoyment. She changed her hair to a deep shade of green and her skin to a bright pink. Her eyes turned to a lavender color and she crawled closer to the bars. What was he going to inject with her? What were they going to take her away to be tested on now? she sighed and narrowed her eyes. "What is it now?" She asked. "Come to shoot me again? Maybe this time I won't force it out, and you will lose your precious subject, without even discovering a way to duplicate my power." She raised her eyebrows and her eyes turned a deep Crimson color, which soon spread to her hair and skin.

Jak unphased quickly from the shadow of his bed as the sound of gunshots broke the tranquility. He heard it, he believed, just a few cells down and was about to peer out through the iron barred window, but thought otherwise. He recalled now that floodlights had been placed on his door to prevent any further escape attempts. In his last endeavor, he managed to phase into the dark floor and slide beneath the crack of the door, only to appear on the other side in front of one of the scientists. Jak assumed it was Nick as he seemed to get joy from his pain, and he knew the floodlights now eliminate any shadows, so unless someone walks by, Jak is stuck here.

Suddenly Jak heard Andras acting up, resulting in Nick knocking him out, only to be scolded harshly by Tony. Instead of listening to the two argue like he normally would however, Jak decided more sleep was required. Silently he phased back into the shadows of the small bed, feeling comfortable within the darkness as he soon fell asleep. He only hoped that he wouldn’t be woken to get tested on.

Tilting his head to the side lightly Yohance saw the Scientist open the door to a cell a few doors down, reading the number on the door he then took his own clipboard out and looked down at it for a moment. A faint smirk escaping onto the males lips as he decided to leave Tony by Vivids cell alone. He was only curios to what happened there and he had already found that out. Walking up to the cell which Hawkins resided in, he tapped the shoulder of the lower ranking scientist before speaking.

“I will take it from here..”

The lower ranking scientist took one look at him before nodding slightly; handing Yohance the clipboard, though his facial expression showed that he wasn’t happy that Yohance had decided to take this one over, though he had no choice considering Yohance was of a higher authority then him. Watching him walk away Yohance scanned the clipboard before looking back towards Hawkins, the smile on his face covered by the fabric over the lower half of his face. Though anyone could tell he wasn’t exactly normal, then again he wasn’t he did have the power of illusions.

“Ah Hawkins, you’re the one with electrical ability no, able to absorb it and use it no..?”

He knew about her power completely and he was almost definitely intrigued about, though there was loads of test subjects in the facility there was only a few which actually interested Yohance. Those with usual or useless powers didn’t intrigue him one bit, he was more interested in the deadly powers, the ones that caused destruction. Letting out a faint chuckle he looked towards Hawkin once more.

“Looks like you need to get a few blood and bone samples taken again and then it seems they want to do the same as the previous test once more, see if it has a different outcome..”

Tony
He turned his head toward Vivid, hearing the girl call out to him. Shooting Nick one last scathing look, he walked down to her cell, even as he heard Brooklyn scolding her for speaking out. "Nice to see you're doing well, Vivid," he said emotionlessly. Tony always tried not to show any emotion one way or another when he spoke to the subjects. He didn't want them to think he was their friend, but he didn't want them to hate him either... those poor unfortunate souls, he thought, slightly nauseated at the thought of how... different they were.

He glanced down his clipboard and flipped through the pages. Who hadn't been tested yet? He looked up and saw Hawkins being led away by Yohance. Let's see...

Making a decision, Tony pulled out his keys and shoved them into the cell of Brooklyn Jones. "Jones. Out." He glanced over his shoulder and snapped, "You too, Charles." The boy had been yelling at his camera again. He wondered whether Charles knew that the cameras were only turned on when there was some kind of commotion.

Then, he made a quick, and probably unwise, decision. Unlocking Vivid's cell as well, he told the three subjects, "Time for testing, kittens."

They were only supposed to hurt subjects once a day. But hey-- Nick hadn't filled out any paperwork. Nobody would know if Vivid got a little extra attention. She fascinated him so.

Vivid sighed and pulled herself up, shaking the color out and reverting back to her normal colors (blonde hair with blue streak, purple eyes with gold rim, and light pink skin). She hopped out of her dinky cell. Whaaat now? Testing testing testing. Always painful. She stretched and brushed out her tattered doctor's robe, that was basically a sheet with strings. Or a bag. Yawning, she trailed after Tony. What were they going to test now? On a sort of side test they have been trying to get her to turn other people different colors. So far she had only turned a mans shoulder a bright green. She had been making some progress, one time transforming someone's entire face purple. Progress they call it. Personally, I thought it just classified me as more of a freak.

Brooklyn

Before Brooklyn knew it, Tony had made his way toward her cell and shoved the keys into the keyhole, unlocking it with a bit of a jingle. She hated being told what to do, as if she was some sort of child or animal, she wasn't either of those nor was anyone else there. A soft growl could be heard escape from her lips as she let herself slowly touch down onto the floor, softly.

Brooklyn Hesitantly followed behind him, watching as he let out both Vivid and Charles as well. There wasn't very much a doubt in her mind that Tony would be sick minded enough to want to give out pain to more than one subject.

"I'm not a cat," she said under her breath, keeping her distance enough away from Tony to feel safe within herself. It wasn't very often that feeling safe came along, even if trying to feel that way.

Tabitha

Tabitha walked down the long corridor of the facility, clipboard in hand as she wrote down onto her. The woman's shoes made quite a loud 'click' and 'clack' on the hard floor beneath her feet. It seemed as another typical day within the place, subjects screaming due to the pain most testers placed on them, others cooped up in their cells after said events, all the same. As she continued her way down the hall she noticed a couple of her colleagues standing around, one of them was taking three of the test subjects for most likely a dose of pain. The other she wasn't very sure about at the moment, no likely no good though.

When she had gotten close enough to them she stopped, looking towards the two than at the subjects with the one. "Good evening Tony, Nick," she greeted them both kindly, "to you as well Brooklyn, Vivid, and Charles."

She'd always liked greeting the subjects as friendly as she could, it kept her in a sense of mind that she was only doing this for scientific purposes, though it never really felt like it. "Going off to do some work?" she questioned curiously, knowing the answer already of course.

Vivid didn't mind Tabitha. She wasn't rude to the subjects, but Vivid knew that in the body of her's was a cold merciless heart, like all other so called 'scientists'. She was even friendlier than Tony, or, at least that is the view she got from her. Vivid gave a much less vicious snort in derision. "Work. Sure. Must be what they call it these days," she said, sarcastically. Torture is more like it. She cocked her eyebrow, which turned a beautiful shade of blue, to match the streak in her hair. If she wanted to, she could escape, right now, right here. Not like they could shoot her down dead, and doubled with invisibility, they would be shooting blind. But where would she go? She was on an island after all. And who would help her through the awful sickness that would wash over her? It would never work. Not without help. Not without a boat. No, she wouldn't be able to escape this dreadful island. Never. A thought pricked into her mind. A horrible thought. But oh, so very tempting. What if she cooperated? Let them test her without difficulty? Preform the tests to the best of her ability? Gain their trust? Help them? She would be treated better. Much better. And she wouldn't have to worry about escaping, when she wouldn't need to. If she was on their side...... No. She pushed the thought from her mind, but it still lingered on the edges. Tickling her thoughts. What if?

Brooklyn

Brooklyn took a glance over to Charles when she had heard him speak, nothing more than just a simple hello, towards everyone she presumed. “Hello,” she said in return to him before turning her head away, wondering what sort of tests were going to happen today.

When she’d looked away from the man she saw one of the scientists pull on some of Vivid’s hair, such cruel treatment. Brooklyn only hoped that the testing would get done and over with, but when she was out of her cell that was always a way she could be able to break free from the facility.

Without the walls in her cells confining her, she could easily phase through and out the walls of the facility and be free. Yet, there wasn’t any doubt in her mind they’d end up finding her, they were on an island after all.

[Tabitha

Tabitha let out a small, sarcastic laugh towards the man. His odd ways of trying to poke fun of her never really bothered her in the least, she only had to deal with him here and here only. “Working of course, I don’t just come down here to treat the subjects like dirt and get some sort of… nasty pleasure out of it like you do,” she looked at him with a dull smile.

“Me? Break a nail? No I don’t much care about that, they’re only nails nothing more, I’m not all about looks you know,” she flashed him her hand, her nails had been trimmed down nice and short, how she liked them.

“I like testing for more of a scientific purpose, I am a scientist after all,” Tabitha paused from speaking when she’d heard Bailey yelling down the hall, screaming about something. Soon nick went walked down towards Bailey’s cell, not before pulling on Vivid’s hair, causing her to give a slight glare. That man didn’t have any limits what-so-ever.

With a shrug of her shoulders she turned around to Tony, giving him one more look before walking off down the corridor, towards one of the cells. It was Jak Ross’s cell, the one who was able to morph into shadows. “Alright, Jak, it’s time for some testing.. you’ll come peacefully yes?,” she questioned before opening the door to the cell, quickly turning the flood lights off that kept him from escaping under the shadow of under the door.

((Urghhh, really sorry about this late reply, guys.))

Tony
Irritated, he slapped Nick's hand away from Vivid. "Really, Nick? You can't keep your hands off my test subjects for five seconds?" he snapped. "Oh, don't look at me like that! This is my block of testing time; therefore, they are my subjects-- at least from three to five. But that's neither here nor there. You!" Without any warning, his head snapped to the right and glared at Charles. "Please quit doing that. You're giving us these shifty eyes. You can't escape, give it up." Nick had really gotten him riled up. He gave a quick nod acknowledging Tabitha, but that was about it. He didn't approve of her 'fraternization' with the subjects.

Heck, he didn't really approve of any of the other testers. He had somewhat of a superiority complex.

"Follow me," he ordered the subjects, narrowing his eyes at Nick as they passed.

At first, Tony had been a little nervous leading subjects around the facility, he himself unarmed. But by now, he had grown comfortable with it. They never tried anything, and even if they did, they would never escape. He was also fully aware of the fact that if they decided to jump him and use him as a hostage, the facility would allow them to kill him before they let the subjects escape. But that was a risk he was willing to take for science. His hands started buzzing just thinking about what he was going to do. He was just itching to get his hands on them today.

"Today," he announced, opening a door into a plain white room, equipped with only three treadmills, "I will be testing your adrenaline, endurance, and fatigue rates. Get on the treadmills." He narrowed his eyes at Charles. "You don't want to give me trouble."

"Please, Bailey, that would just give the game away." Nick muttered, idly examining the fingers that Vivid had dyed blue and using the middle one to gesture at Tony's back. 'His' test subjects? Really now, something would have to be done about the older man's superiority. He raised his voice, calling after the other tester. "Have fun, Tony." A 'friendly' comment would rile him more than an insult. Maybe he'd just have to drop in on his testing room later.

Right now, though, he was focused on Bailey. Sighing, Nick drummed his fingers against the door, mulling over Bailey's words in their entirety. Eventually, he responded. "Well, you could probably do quite a lot if you put your mind to something other than producing swear words, dear." Finally he spun around and opened the door to the girl's cell, standing in the doorway and pulling the gun out as a deterrent for if Bailey decided to try and tackle him. Really, he needed to pick up one of his better weapons. "Mm, I think I'll take a look at that patch around your eye again today. If you come quietly, I might actually numb your eye before I do anything."

Vivid obediently stepped onto the treadmill, waiting for Tony to set any speeds or inclines. She gave him a meek smile, glad to be away from Nick. She did have a plan. A sick twisted plan, but something better than how she was now. To seem more 'willing' she asked; "So how long are we running for? What speed?" She shifted her feet and felt her scalp where nick had pulled her scalp.

Tony
Perhaps if he hadn't had that spat with Nick, Tony would have been paying more attention to the subjects and noticed Vivid's strange meekness, but his mind was otherwise preoccupied. Muttering to himself about 'no standards in this place', he rummaged around the cabinets and produced small rubber electrodes, the shape of suction cups. Thin black wires trailed from them and disappeared into a shifty-looking machine that he placed on the counter.

"We'll start with low speed for the time being. But you'll probably be running for upwards of four hours." Tony passed by in front of each of the subjects, sterilizing the tips of the electrodes with alcohol-soaked cotton balls. "This will hurt." He pressed the electrodes onto Vivid's skin-- one on each temple, several on the fleshy undersides of the arm, a few on the hands.

He did the same to Brooklyn and Charles. Small needles poked out when he pressed a button on the device, burrowing into the subjects' flesh. It actually didn't hurt much, just a tiny prick, not as bad as even a shot.

He paused before activating the electrodes stuck onto Vivian. For whatever reason, he had a soft spot for the subject (a fact he would be deeply ashamed of if it got out to the other scientists). Her colorful skin bedazzled him. But his face was still hard and impassive as he pressed the button, watching the colors swirl on her skin.

Brooklyn

“Oh, great, just I wanted to do today, run on a tread mill,” he said sarcastically, a look of irritation seen on her face as she looked towards the treadmills in the room. It had taken her a moment to get on one of the machines, but soon enough she found her way on to one, no matter how much she didn’t want to.

Brooklyn heard Vivid’s voice talking towards the man, asking what speed and how long they’d be running for. “What a little suck up,” she commented, only taking a moment to glance over towards the girl, her eyes staring at her just long enough till Tony came to press the electrodes onto their skin. When the needles of the devices had poked out she barley even made a wince. They were annoying, but practically painless none-the-less.

Tabitha

Tabitha let out just a small chuckled to herself as she heard Jak talk, “oh Mr. Ross, just because you’re power isn’t the kind that could harm a person, you’ve more than enough potential to harm someone in a physical way with your bare hands. Doesn’t take much to do that.” She glanced back towards the boy as she continued to walk down the corridor, finally finding a room she could use.

Taking a left turn she entered, stopping to turn around and make sure Jak was right behind her. Satisfied with knowing he was she gestured for him to take a seat from the one she had already sat herself in. “Make yourself comfortable, Jak, I’m not here to harm you in the sick foul ways you’ve seen my coworkers do. I’m merely here for the science darling,” her words were soft and harmless. She went out of her way to make her subjects feel comfortable, no point in being harsh it only makes them less cooperative.

Tony
The tester sighed when he heard Brooklyn's comment. "You'd do well to act more like Vivid here." He walked past all of the treadmills, flipping them on to low speeds, no elevation; just easy jogging. He'd made sure that the room was hot for the past two hours; they would have no relief from cool temperatures.

He sat in his chair and waited. For the purpose of this test, they had to really get going. He wanted to grind them down to exhaustion-- n-no, not wanted. He had to. It was the purpose of the test. Tony drummed his fingers against the counter, a sour expression on his face, lost in thought.

His watch beeped softy, alerting him of the ten-minute mark. He swung his chair around and to face the device that the electrodes' wires were attached to. He fiddled with the dials.

That's when he administered the first electric shock.

The electrodes weren't much. She didn't even feel them. The jogging was fine. Sure, a little tiring, but other than that, just a workout. Her tattered patient's robe swished as she jogged along. But soon, she was sweating like crazy. It was way too hot in here. Maybe she could change the temperature of her skin, or even how much she sweats. She tried cooling her skin down. She concentrated, closing her eyes, picturing any icy snow-capped mountain, her skin ice cold. She opened her eyes and it felt so good. She stopped sweating and running was so much easier. She continued along, almost happy.

Suddenly her step faltered as she felt an electric shock. She slipped up and grabbed onto the bars before she splattered to the ground. Around the electrodes, her skin turned purple, yellow, and a silvery color. After receiving that shock, she didn't act out, she just got back in rhythm and concentrated on turning her skin into a much more manageable temperature. She breathed in deeply and decided to amuse Tony by turning her skin different colors, making her skin form a rainbow of colors and designs. She let go of the railing again and went back to jogging.

Brooklyn

Brooklyn rolled her eyes as Tony walked by, turning on all the treadmills on low, an easy little jog yet nothing more so far. “Why would I want to do that? Throw away my dignity to treat you sadistic bastards better than you treat us? I’d rather loose a body part than something as disgusting as that,” she said towards the man as she started to jog on the treadmill.

The subject could feel her body start to accumulate sweat as she continued to jog, the warmth of the room speeding up the sweating process quite a bit. This sort of testing wasn’t as bad as what would usually happen, but with the heat the way it was, it might as well be as bad. Just for a moment she closed her eyes and let her mind wonder around for a bit, imagining a life beyond this hell hole.

Suddenly she felt an electric shock course through her body, no doubt the works of the stupid little electrodes on her body. She let out a faint growl and cringed slightly, her feet slowly phasing through the treadmill below her. Before she could phase through anymore she caught herself and pulled herself back up onto the treadmill, starting to jog once again.

After a few seconds she glanced over towards the other two, Vivid catching her attention greatly. The girl’s skin was a rainbow and colors and different designs, all seemed to be for the amusing pleasure of the tester though. It almost made her sick to her stomach, she might as well have been flirting with the man instead.

Tabitha

Tabitha listened to him talk about how the others would have gotten him out of his cell and such. She didn’t approve of how they did things, but there wasn’t anything she could very well do about it. “That’s it them though, this is me and this is how I run things,” she began, “I’ve never seen the point and all the harsh treatments you all get here and quite frankly it’s a little sickening if you ask me.”

Her clipboard was placed into her lap and she began to write a few things down to start with, just general things of how he looked before starting here experiment. The woman stood up and gestured for Jak to do the same, soon walking over to where she had placed and arranged selection of light sources. Different kinds of flashlights, lighters, matches, anything that would emit some sort of light.

“Alright, what we’re going to do today is calculate what kind of lights affect you the most. I know it’s painful for you but I promise it won’t be too terribly long, I’ll even give you a couple of pain killers to help with the pain when we’re done,” she looked at him with a soft smile before grabbing at the lowest source of light, a match.

“When you’re ready just tell me,” she said, holding the match towards the side of the box.

((I apologize greatly for my leave of absence. (: Family vacation. It was fun.))

Tony
He chewed on the top of his pen, scribbling something on his clipboard. The electrodes were constantly measuring heart rate, adrenaline production, and even perspiration, and he had to record it by the minute. Without looking up as Brooklyn bashed him, he said, "That can surely be arranged, my dear Brooklyn." Actually, he did wonder what kind of bearing her phasing ability would have on limb regeneration... he ought to follow up. He pulled out his Blackberry and made himself a memo.

He looked up at the yelps that signified that the first shock had taken place. It was very low voltage, very low wattage, but still startling, he was sure. He pointed his chewed-up pen at Brooklyn's feet. "Was that involuntary, that phasing there? Triggered by pain? A defense mechanism, perhaps?" As he said that, he turned up the power of the shock. The next one should be coming in five minutes. God, he hated this heat. He pulled out a handheld fan and placed it on the counter to cool himself off, making sure that it was pointing away from the test subjects.

((Don't worry about it *patpat* glad you had fun on your family vacation))

Brooklyn

Brooklyn rolled her eyes and continued to run, not bothering to talk back to him. She most likely knew they would cut off a limb just for their stupid experiments, not like they had anything better to do with their time than crap like that. Her arms crossed over her chest, she could feel her sweat falling down from her arms down onto the treadmill below.

“Yes it was involuntary and I don’t know what the hell it was, it could have been some kind of defense mechanism to keep myself from getting too hurt by you losers,” she almost shouted back to him. There wasn’t any way she couldn’t have noticed the little fan he’d taken out to cool himself off with. Couldn’t go through the heat like the rest of them she supposed, wimp.

Tabitha

“Well that’s a rather interesting start,” she said, writing down what Jak had to say how it felt.

“Alright let us try this next,” Tabitha grabbed a lighter from the table and in no time she had the thing lit up quite nicely. She preceded to point it towards the boy, waiting for what he had to say about the light source and the way it was affecting him. It wasn’t as if she was enjoying doing this to him, nor anything to any of the subjects that caused pain, but she always gave him something afterwards to help with any pain that was still there after.

“How does that feel?” she asked the boy.
