Matt Furor

"I guess I'm a farm boy, through and through."

0 · 331 views · located in Deserted Island

a character in “Lightning Wing”, as played by Cookies Need Love

Description

Name:
Matt Furor

Nickname:
Matt

Age:
Seventeen

Sex:
Male

Picture Appearance:
Matt

Written Appearance:
Matt is tall and skinny. Not skin and bones, basically a skeleton skinny but he keeps the fat off. Matt has dark brown curly hair that's constantly falling over his hazel eyes. He has a smattering of dark freckles over his tanned nose and cheeks. Whenever Matt smiles he has dimples on either side of his face. He's usually in jeans and a t-shirt.

Personality:
Matt is very easygoing and laid-back. He's not the type to get all worked up over something and he's usually got a grin on his face. Matt's friendly and willing to help anyone out. Once he starts a job he's going to finish it, and do it well. When Matt does get angry it's like a strike of lightning. Hot and powerful, but over within a moment. Matt is very polite to everyone, even if he's known them for years. He's the type to step in when someone's getting harassed and tell the bully off. Despite this, Matt abhors fighting and avoids it as much as possible. He's usually the calming voice that settles the heat before fisticuffs arise. Since Matt towers above just about everyone and he's no weakling he can be quite an imposing figure, but he's as gentle as a puppy.

Likes:
Starry nights, a job well done, good friends, and relaxing.

Dislikes:
Fighting, sloppy job, laziness, and getting mad.

Other: Matt can play a pretty decent guitar... Not that there'll be one on the island anywhere.

Equipment

Matt had a few things in his pockets during the plane crash; a pocket knife, some change, and two chocolate bars. He also had a medium sized suitcase with clothes, but he has yet to find that.

History

Matt lived on a farm outside of town. Ever since he was young he'd get up at dawn to help his family start out the day before heading to school. He lived with his parents and two older brothers. They're the ones who instilled in him a sense of pride in a job well done, and a willingness to get things done. Matt's eldest brother Jerry went to college to become an accountant; he'd always taken care of the finances of the farm with their dad. His other brother, Bill, stayed on the farm after he graduated high school.

Matt would always get up extra early and help out on the farm before heading to school. Then, after school, he'd head to his job at the convenience store. He managed to pay for most of the Bermuda trip on his own, only asking for a bit from his parents. Matt always figured he'd just stay on the farm like Bill after school since he doesn't have much of an inclination to do anything else.

So begins...

Matt wandered into the airport, looking around casually. He'd already hugged his mom goodbye and given his brother and dad a firm handshake. Nothing emotional, no 'I'll Miss You's. That wasn't what Matt's family did, after all. They were farmers and farmers didn't have time to get all sappy. Work was where their heads were at even as he jumped out of the beat up old truck. Well, Matt wouldn't have to worry about work for another eight days. That was... Well, it sounded perfectly fine to Matt. He wasn't one to overstate things and in fact tended to understate them instead.

For now, the brunette boy was simply intent on finding where they were supposed to be meeting. He'd gotten pretty mixed up what with all the voices and the intercom shouting out numbers. So thoroughly mixed up, in fact, that he had to stop one of the passing employees and ask them if they knew where West Kings High School was meeting. Luckily they'd seen the sign and were able to point him in the right direction. Matt set off in that direction, his quite new suitcase trundling behind him. His family weren't one for traveling, so they hadn't had any actual suitcases before today. Matt had used the money from his job to go out and buy one just for this occasion. As far as he could see, it was pretty much worth it. It wasn't long before Matt spotted the sign and the singular girl sitting in the seats indicated. He slid into the seat next to her and gently placed his suitcase on the ground before turning to her. She seemed familiar... Chrissa, that was her name! They weren't exactly close friends but they'd exchanged words a couple times.

"Looks like we're the first ones here. A bit too excited, the both of us," Matt joked calmly, sending her a wide, friendly grin as he settled back in his seat.

"So little sis any last words before you vanish into the Bermuda triangle never to be seen again?" asked Roy, ever since he had got his driving license he suddenly decided he had the right to start patronizing Lisa as if she was a 8th grader and this really ticked her off.

Lisa had prepared for this trip for the passed three days; apart from her traveling bag Lisa also had a new suitcase for the rest of her stuff. Lisa had taken the hard learned precaution of rapping anything water could damage tightly into water tight bags after a few open water bottles and being pushed into the river by her brother's type disasters. Lisa had said goodbye to mom and dad yesterday evening during dinner but only Roy could accompany her to the airport.

As Lisa walked into the airport Roy gave a slight punch to her shoulder, he might be a pain but he was still her brother and even with all the teasing Lisa still loved him. Among her brothers punching was the only method of really expressing an emotion, a light punch was done in affection, as teasing or even a warning; each had its own special meaning.

"Hay sis relax! Enjoy yourself ok? You are going to a tropical paradise and not to the grave ya know."

Lisa returned the punch, slightly stronger as she and her brothers had done since they were kids. "Well that’s not what you said a few moments ago Ro"

Roy laughed "ok then suit yourself, you are going to a tropical grave, happy now?"

"Oh yea I can hardly contain the tears in my eyes" remarked Lisa, Roy could never say goodbye outright but at least he knew how to cheer her up.

As they parted ways Roy could not help but get the last word "guess what bet we have on you this time!" he said while tossing towards her a large envelope. Lisa picked it up and put it in the traveling bag; she wasn't in the mood for her brothers' nonsense at the moment and there was plenty of time to have a look at it later.

Lisa didn't have too much of a hard time in the security check but looking for the meeting place did take longer then she had expected.

Eventually Lisa noticed Matt and then the rest of the group, it didn't make Lisa walk any faster but she did wave as she approached the group.

Lisa could not help but smile, she was exited and there was no point in hiding it. As she sat down on the bench Lisa said to no one in particular "ho there, what's up in groove town?"

No one had the time to answer before some one rushed ahead from no were and shouted "check point"

Lisa turned to look at the source of the voice, if she wasn't so quick on her nerves she would have gasped at this "surprise attack" but even so she could not conceal her irritation.

It was Connor, not surprisingly and all Lisa could do was close her eyes in embracement when dozens of other passengers gazed at their group.

Connor was really and artist if you considered ticking Lisa off an art as some did, not only had he forgotten his luggage he also had the cheek to make suave passes at Lisa and the other girls.

Lisa could not contain herself she got up from the bench and punched Connor lightly… well possibly harder then she had intended but he deserved it.

Lisa wasn't about to waste her time sitting and waiting for the next half an hour or so before the boarding of the plane. Lisa sighed and said to Connor with more then a hint of agrivation in her voice:

"Ok Connor I will help you get your damn stuff if you really need the help, I am guessing a few of us are lost out there so we might as well keep an eye out for them."

Matt simply relaxed in his chair, waving cheerfully to Lisa as she joined them. Despite her tendency to bully, Matt quite enjoyed the girl and considered her a pretty good friend. In fact, there was no one on the trip that he expressly disliked. A few he'd had less then happy encounters with, but nothing major. It was only due to his habit of calming down fights, anyway, and Matt was fair enough to give either side a shot at telling what happened. He'd been raised to be fair and to abhor fighting. As far as Matt was concerned, that was somethign that would never quite go away and he was content with it. Matt was content with just about everything. He didn't have anything to complain about, as far as Matt saw. Life was pretty good for him. He was about to go on an expensive trip with some good friends and decent people for a whole eightdays. He wasn't even sure what not working would feel like. Even this morning he'd gotten up early in order to milk the cows and help with some chores. Before taking a quick shower and packing, of course.

Matt jumped when he heard the crackle voice over the intercom call out their gate. He glanced around, worried about Lisa, but saw her approaching with Connor just in time. Matt grinned and waved at the two. Connor wasn't too bad, he was just a little lazy and too focused on those darn things he carried with him everywhere. Plus, he often made jokes that Matt simply did not grasp and then got annoyed when Matt asked what he meant. Matt just didn't have time for TV. With a happy sigh, the farm boy unfolded himself from the chair and stood. He grasped his suitcase and headed for the airport, happy to finally be on his way. A vacation... Even the thought of it sounded weird. Maybe he'd ask Connor what he normally did, since the boy never seemed to be working. Matt could try out a couple of his games, if he got exceptionally bored or restless. It would be enjoyable, though, Matt was sure of that.
