|| Sound Majik ||
Sound Manipulation consists of many things; in Val's case, however, it is magnified by ten-fold. By taking in the sounds around her, whether it be the chirp of a bird, the murmur of a person's voice, or a clang of metal-on-metal, she is able to take the vibrations that the sound emits and harness them to her advantage. Her power is showed in many forms, although only a few of them does she favor, seeing as she is quite new to her abilities and has yet to hone them to their greatest peak. Due to the blindness in her left eye, she has the ability to use Sonar/Echolocation, like that of a bat. By taking in the sounds around her, she can 'see' from her left eye and easily locate objects and living beings that most others cannot, along with giving off a call throughout the immediate environment and listen to the echo of the sounds around her. Because of this, her hearing is superior to that of most people, allowing her to hear a leaf fall from a little less than half a mile away - but only when she concentrates. In addition, she is able to emit Sonic Waves by converting sound waves into powerful bursts of energy, which can be emitted only from her mouth.
Val's abilities do not end here, seeing as many of them tie together to become one as a whole. Along with her Sonic Waves, she is able to amplify sound waves and turn them into bursts of energy; however, instead of using her voice to do so, she can take any sound and turn it into, what she hopes to one day make, an explosion. An ability that rides directly alongside this and coexists peacefully is Sound Absorption, which essentially allows her to do precisely what the name implies: Absorb sound. She is able to mute the sounds around her until they are almost deadly silent. However, the key word is 'almost', seeing as she has yet to perfect this power.
Finally she has the ability of Pure Harmony and Voice Manipulation. Voice Manipulation (VM), is the power to change one's voice to the sound of another, whether it be another person's voice or simply a sound that is made within the environment, such as a bird chirping. However, this power is extremely limited at this current moment in time. She is only able to copy the most recent sound that she heard. Pure Harmony is her final ability, which allows her to convert peaceful sounds, such as music or the whisper of wind through the trees, into peace and, well, harmony.
Many of these abilities are limited to what she is hearing at the immediate time, how much energy she has, how well she feels, how hungry she is, and her ability to play her music, which is often used to create her abilities, yet most specifically Pure Harmony and Sonar.

Left eye; Caused by a horrific fire that occurred when Valentina was very young.
| Oddities |
â She is permanently blind in her left eye.
â Val holds an odd affinity to music, whether it be instrumental or vocal.
â It's as though all of her emotions had been wiped clean and become an empty slate. To be frank - she's quite robotic.
"Some people are like onions. You have to really dig to get to their good parts."
| Personality |
{Odd, Gentle, Soft-spoken, Stubborn, Strong-willed, Quiet, Strangely Mature, Robotic, Nervous, Fearful, Cold}
If there's one word that the people around Valentina can use to describe the young girl, it's Robotic. Since the death of her family, her emotions and personality have slowly careened downhill, and instead of growing into herself, she retreated within the safety of her inner sanctuary. At one point, when she was friends with the other children in the original group, she had slowly begun to regain her true nature, that which had disappeared at the time of her families' death. She had once been able to laugh and run carefree throughout the world, and her eyes sparkled with mischief and joy.
However, if one were to look at Val now, they would see that that is no loner the case.
In replacement of a giggling, free child, there is a mature, quiet, machine. She does not voice her opinion and does not speak of what she wants or wishes for. It seems as though she has no personality of her own, but instead follows blindly alongside anything that she deems to be worth the time. She is a particularly soft-spoken young girl who rarely speaks, and only when spoken to, unless it involves her music. Despite all of this, however, Val is one of the most stubborn of all people that anyone could find themselves across. When she actually does set her mind or opinion on something, she sticks to it with an iron fist, and to Hell with reason for her - nothing is seen as reasonable when she becomes driven. It is undoubtedly her quiet nature, however, that causes people to view her as an odd little girl who simply entices other children to pick on her.
Although she is looked upon by her peers as a 'witch' who deems herself better than those around her, that is simply not true. The fact of the matter is that her entire personality is driven by an innate and irrational fear of abandonment and growing close to others. After the passing of her family, she refused to grow close to any person or creature, despite her love for animals, and even refused to keep a goldfish as a pet for fear of it dying. She lives with the mindset that no matter who or what it is, it will eventually leave her all alone in the world to fend off her own inner demons. Whether it be by death or some or mean of the matter, she believes that everyone and everything will abandon her, no matter the object in question.
Despite all of this, Val is a very gentle person. She refuses adamantly to even crush a spider, but instead vetoes to capture it in a glass and free it outside. She's often picking up stray kittens off of the street and bringing them home, much to her aunt's and uncle's despair, and has actually gone to the extent to shove one up her shirt in an attempt to hide and sneak it into her bedroom. She does this only because she does not want the kitten to suffer in the cruel world, just as she did and always will.
The one factor to Valentina that actually inhibits a response of some sort is a simple, key word - Music. It is only when she is immersed in her music that Val truly leaves her shell and crawls from the cocoon that she so adamantly hides within. Whether it be piano, cello, violin, or singing, she becomes an entirely new person altogether. Her expression grows gentle and serene, a small smile even lifting to her lips, and she relaxes more so than she ever possibly could. Her heart swells visibly in her chest, and her love and joy for music is transferred from instrument to sound and soul. When she buries herself in her music, she feels ...
Free.

"A Little Personal There,
Aren't You?"
| History |
Well, I suppose that I can tell you a bit about myself ... I'll just go ahead and start from the very beginning. It's an easier tale to tell by telling you outright every large occurrence in my life.
I was born to a wealthy Italian family in a small town near Florence, Italy, on October 31st - funny, right? My parents were Marie Antoinette Dioli and Saul Ren Rosetto. After my birth, there was Johnathon Jeremial Dioli and Amelia Antoinette Dioli, a pair of beautiful baby twins, who were four years younger than me.
My parents made most of their wealth in the wine business and named their alcohol L'amore di Dioli - The Love of Dioli. The Dioli's exports were well-known among high-society members, and after quite some time, they began to receive invites to private parties by rich socialites. Of course, to their great regrets, they were gone from their children more and more often over the remaining years of their lives. Having hired a Governess and a nanny for their children, they found some of their guilt and sorrow to be eased, and went about their careers.[/i]
"I ... I'm sorry, but I can't continue telling this tale ..."
It was on January 19th that everything began to change.
Feeling well-off enough to retire for a few years, the Hood's returned home to be with their children, who were now six and two years of age. The governess and nanny were given the week off, and as a celebration of their return home, and despite the cold that chilled the outdoors and anyone who dared to brave it, they decided to have a fire.
Snow would not be their friend on that night.
Although still a child in most and many ways, Valnetina was quite the mature young six year old, who would be seven in little less than a month. Noting the maturity in the young girl as she dealt with her siblings and practically raised them herself, the Dioli couple put her in charge of distinguishing the fire at the end of the night, while they returned the twins to their room.
What a mistake that would turn out to be.
Having thought that she took care of the fire, the little girl returned to her own room and settled into bed, and for the first time in months, was tucked in and sung to by her mother and father. After gentle kisses goodnight, they left.
It was eleven-thirty-two pm. on January 19th, four members of the Dioli family left the world.
Valentina survived only out of sheer instinct alone. She managed to escape out of her window and run for help, but only after she severely burnt her hand from the metal of her doorknob. Several licks of fire captured her and scarred her face, blinding her eye, and in her haste to escaped the burning wreckage of a home, she tripped and severally cut her chin and forehead. Now drenched in blood, she managed to climb from her bedroom, but the ladder in which plants grew upon on the side of her home was unstable in many ways. It detached from the house and sent her to the ground, causing deep lacerations to appear across her back. The rest of what occurred is a blur to her, but in the gist of it, she managed to run through the slowly-rising blizzard to a neighbor's house, coated in her own blood. It was too late, however, to save her family, and the only remnants she has of them are her inheritance, her families' company, and a few keepsakes that were salvaged from the wreckage.
She moved in with her aunt, her aunt's husband, and her two cousins in Japan once she was released from the hospital, but was diagnosed with what is now known most commonly for returning veterans as Post Dramatic Stress Disorder. She also has deep abandonment issues and finds all of her scars to be grotesque and fearsome. When she arrived in Japan, she didn't attend school at the very beginning, but instead was held out of it for her own sake. Her shyness and naivety when it comes to people results from her history with loss, and she can't truly control how she reacts to most things. Her aunt and uncle have given her a relatively normal life, despite the constant visitations to psychiatrists and doctors to ensure that her mental and physical health are alright, and is still on medications for bodily pain, depression, and PTSD.
Her friends helped her integrate into Japan quite smoothly by easily welcoming them into her group, which had already been completed but had enough room for one more lonely girl. The group quickly disbanded, though, as they grew older, and memories of their little fantasy world had all but faded away.
Her views on the other world, however, are quite clear.
She despises it, and finds it bothersome, annoying, and a waste of time.
"My past is my past, and thereâs nothing that I can do to change it. My life with my aunt, uncle, and cousin has been extraordinary, and despite how much I miss my immediate family, I would trade the life I have now for nothing."

â She really likes cats. Like, really likes cats. Especially kittens. It's almost worrisome.
â She eats more than any guy she's ever met, yet never puts on a pound.
â She hates dogs, enough so that she is paralyzed with fear whenever confronted by one.
â Val holds an irrational fear of dead silence. If it is so silent that she can hear the throbbing of her eardrums, she will literally be pushed to the brink of her sanity.
â In addition to her fear of silence, Valentina is also irrationally afraid of abandonment and growing close to others. She holds people at a distance and grows distraught when people even leave a room.
