PERSONALITY

Levi can be pretty Erratic. Mainly because sometimes he doesn't know what's in his head and what is real. This is often the case with his gift as well as his curse. Levi's good looks and kind demeanor makes him Charming which helps to work a crowd as he needs to with his act. Dramatic is only a thing when he's performing. Hard to entertain when you're droll. Outside of work, Levi doesn't say very much. A phrase here, a joke there, a sarcastic comment when you're not listening. His silence helps him stick to the shadows where he can watch people and be Observant. Remember the thing about Sarcastic comments? Yeah. He has many of those. He can also be a bit Absentminded, but you have to understand; it's hard to be of present mind when the voices in your head aren't present. Levi's not the best with people. He's quiet and watchful which can make him come across as Enigmatic. He rarely opens up, but when he does, he tells whatever you want. You just have to know the right thing to say. He's really protective of those he feels can't protect themselves.

xx ☆﹗LIKES
Alcohol is probably his best friend, but he knows to drink in moderation. He can't be drunk at work, and it's often dangerous enough when there aren't any performances around these oddities. Especially the chick who reads minds. Speaking of, reading is also something he enjoys. It entertains all the voices in his head. Not just his own. He enjoys people watching which sounds creepy, but you do it more often than you think. Especially at theme parks. Probably another odd thing about Levi is that his favorite color is brown. He isn't quite sure why but he prefers it to every other color. He has a bottle collection. Wherever he goes, he takes a small glass bottle and collects either dirt, sand, pebbles, water, etc. from the places he travels. Love is an interest of his that you wouldn't expect from him. He loves performing.

xx ★﹗DISLIKES
Theme Parks are not places he enjoys. The rides are loud, the smells are weird, and the people are either overly enthusiastic or just plain rude. He's not a big fan of sweet things for the reason that most everyone else does. They're sweet. Roller Coasters make him sick easily so he tends to stay away from them if he can help it. He hates it when people mess with his hair. It's one thing if he cares for them. It's another when you're trying to be "chummy".

QUIRKS | HABITS

☆ talking with his hands
☆ Messing up his hair when he's thinking
☆ Chewing his nails when he's nervous

TALENTS | STRENGTHS

INVISIBILITY ; His oddity is to make things invisible. It might be cool to others, but sometimes it's a pain for him. He can still see them. And he often accidently makes things disappear when he sneezes. Oops.
PERFORMING ; He really knows how to command and capture the attention of a crowd and how to leave them wanting more every time.
DETAILS ; When watching others, he likes to look at the details of a situation. He's good with names and faces, dates, and even certain interests of people just by what they're wearing, or what they're not wearing. It's often his way of socializing.

FLAWS | WEAKNESSES

SOCIAL SITUATIONS ; He's not entirely sure what to do sometimes which makes it difficult for him to interact.
VOICES ; There are people in his head. They don't exist and yet they talk to him. Sometimes he can't sleep, sometimes he can't think, and sometimes they help.
TONE DEAF ; Do not make him sing. You'll regret it.

FEARS

LOSING CONTROL ; of both his gift and his curse. They can both be curses if in the right situation.
REJECTION ; its a really silly sensitive thing, but he's afraid of wanting to be near someone, whether a friend or a love, and have them push him away. Especially because of his abilities.

xxxHISTORY

For as long as he can remember, he's had his abilities. He made his toys disappear as a child, the voices helped him with his homework--though they weren't always right, etc. They weren't really a problem until he decided to tell someone about them. First it was his parents. They thought his magic trick with making things invisible was a hoot, but when he told them about the voices, they started to treat him differently. They worried constantly about his mental health. They took him to doctors, tried therapy and treatment, but nothing seemed to work. They believed it was all in his head. Well, it was, but it there wasn't anything wrong with him. When nothing seemed to succeed, they asked him not to tell anyone about his gift--what was really his curse.

For a while, things were good. He was doing well in school and even found a hobby that he enjoyed. Theatre. He could command a crowd with his acting and as a junior and senior in high school, he was given leads roles, but not in musicals. He's pretty much tone deaf. You're more likely to get a seal to sing on key than him. Then there was the girl. The one he thought would change everything. She was beautiful and funny and smart. He trusted her with his secrets, but realized too late that it was a mistake. She spread the word all over school about what he could do. People called him crazy and asked him about the voices. The voices would yell back, of course, which only made it more difficult for him to concentrate.

His parents pulled him out of school and homeschooled him until he graduated. He acted at a community theatre, but something was still missing from his life. It wasn't until he came across The Ringmaster, that he realized what it was. Acceptance. Not even his parents had learned to accept him for who he was. But in the Circus, with the other oddities, he could be himself and not feel strange. Well.. he still felt strange, but for the first time in his life, it was a good feeling and not a bad one. Here he stayed and he helps to run the shows and train the newbies in their acts. He's found a home even though its always moving.

Lola sighed and picked at her nails. She was leaning on one of the tent support poles watching the freaks all put in their last minute rehearsals for tonight. Lola was wearing tight black jeans and what was practically a black bra with extra straps attached. She narrowed her eyes as she saw the same performer forget her move for the fourth time in a row. The Circus had been in town for the last 10 days which the roadies had spent setting up the tent and infrastructure. So of course that meant the performing freaks had waited to the last minute to rehearse their performances.

"How are we looking for tonight?"

Lola forced herself not to jump in surprise. The Ringmaster was always very good at sneaking up on people and appearing behind you without you noticing. Lola would never get used to it. Without turning around, she replied, "Yeah. They've finished setting up. We have a fully booked show tonight and your freaks should be able to pull it together by then."

"We have a few VIPs coming tonight as well, so things better go well." The Ringmaster said sternly before soundlessly turning and leaving. They didn't even look over the performers rehearsing. The Ringmaster entrusted the running of the show to Lola, and they'd only step in after the show went badly.

Lola sighed after the Ringmaster left. As much disdain as she felt for the freaks, she couldn't just ignore them like she wanted. If they did badly tonight it was her ass on the line. The Ringmaster would blame her for anyone's failings. Then one of the acrobats fell and hit the cushioned mat they had laid down for rehearsals hard. Crossing her arms angrily, Lola took a few step into the center ring of the circus tent. "Get it together freaks!"
She yelled out to the entire group making it quite clear she was fed up with them. Then she turned and left the main tent.

Lola entered the showgirls van. Every surface and wall space was covered in costumes, mirrors, wigs, makeup and glitter. Of course at the far end of the van there was the largest cleanest mirror, that had lights around it. That was Lola's mirror. She made sure none of the other showgirls dared use it.

Currently the van was empty, but the other girls would be coming soon to get ready. Lola sat down in front of her mirror and started applying another layer of makeup. Of course she was never seen around the circus without thick makeup on. "Lunch." Aubrey entered the van holding a tray of sandwiches cut into triangles. Lola scowled. Aubrey was 13. She didn't have an oddity and was too young to be a showgirl. So she did the same things Lola used to; giving out sandwiches, cleaning, passing message around etc. The way Aubrey was eyeing up the showgirl costumes and glitter reminded Lola of her younger self.

If her heart wasn't so frozen over she might have felt pity for the young girl. Caught in a venomous trap but too starstruck to see it. All Lola felt was bitter though, soon Aubrey would be old enough to become a showgirl and she'd be young and youthful whilst Lola found herself getting older and older. When would she be too old and end up being replaced by a younger girl?

"Leave." Lola demanded after taking a sandwich half. She took a bite and threw the rest in the bin. She had a bmi she had to keep too. She couldn't control her age but she could control her weight. Sighing she sat down and started prodding at her face. She had age lines she hadn't seen on her face only a year before.

ImageLevi sat back in his comfortable chair and watched the "little ones" play. His "talent" was something he worked with everyday and allowed him to work alone, so he spent most of rehearsals watching the others. Occasionally he would mess with them and make things disappear, but there is a saying that goes "How you practice is how you perform." So he decided not to mess with anyone for the day. Or, at least, for now. It was difficult for him to really behave himself for long.

A song suddenly filled his head and he decided to sing it from his seat. "Nobody knows... the trouble I've seen... Nobody knows my sorrows..." If it bothered anyone, they wouldn't dare say anything to him. He could make something disappear just for spite. And gosh darn it if it wasn't something important. Besides, that was all he knew of the song anyway. There was an itch at the back of his mind. A sensation he knew very well. It's way too early for this He thought as he took a swig of scotch from the canteen he had hidden in his pocket.

"It's too late for that," A voice said. "Ohh maybe next time," crooned another. "Shut up, Late Lindi." The first argued with the second. "Ooo. Scary. Why don't you come over here and make me?" Replied the second.

"How about you both shut up." Levi said, though it wouldn't matter. The voices were in his head. They liked to put in their two cents and argue whenever they could. And it wasn't just these two. There were plenty in his head. After all these years, he even named them. The first was Laurent who liked to pick on Levi the most. The second was Lavender who was sultry and whispered dirty things into his ears. There was also Larissa, Lance, Laura, Louis, and Lucian, tho the last one rarely talked. He was the darkest of the voices and often caused a red tinge to Levi's vision when he talked.

He took another swig of the alcohol and sighed as the itch released. They seemed to talk only out of boredom today. Usually, It takes more than a couple swigs of alcohol to make them leave him alone. Lola yelled to the group from the balcony, but he didn't paid her no attention. She was usually barking orders that Levi didn't listen to anyway. He watched Nebula enter the performance area and watched her for signs of using. He was one of the only people who knew of her alternative methods of pain relief, but only because she asked him for a bottle one day. Feeling sympathetic, he gave it to her. Of course, afterwards, he made sure to warn one of the twins in case she did anything stupid. Though he could never remember which one. The girl seemed fine, however, and he went back to people watching.

Lorelai walked towards with soft eyes and a softer smile, causing the guilt in Brody's stomach to deepen. The she walked towards Brody and wrapped him in a big hug causing a light blush to spread over his cheeks."I forgive you, Brody, but it's not okay."

Brody moved his hands to her shoulders. "I know Lori. I swear it was an accident. I'm so sorry. Please, I didn't mean to. You know I wouldn't-"
Lorelai pulled away and looked at Brody with deadly serious eyes that cut him off mid rant.

"Okay? You need to focus." She said, before she looked away and then looked back with a grin. Which caused Brody so slowly break out into his usual exuberant grin. "Although I'm sure you'll do better at that when you have a full stomach, huh?" Brody rubbed the back of his head with a 'caught out' look on his face as his stomach let out an incriminating growl. "Want to try again? I could use a lift down."

Brody smiled happily glad Lorelai still trusted him. "For you. Anytime,"
Brody said with a grand bow, before scooping Lorelai up. Then he walked to edge of the platform and fell backwards. Brody made sure to do a few goofy tumbles and flips before softly landing on the ground and placing Lorelai on her feet. "C'mon," he said bumping her with his elbow and practically racing over to Aubrey with lunch.

He looked over the sandwiches carefully. It was a big decision after all. He picked up one sandwhich and then made a thinking noise and picked up another. He repeated this until he had about four sandwiches pilled up in his right hand. Then with a grin and a mock salute he moved away to let someone else have a go at the sandwich tray. Brody smiled at Lorelai, and pointed over to Ethan. "Look at him bein a big sook," he said with a smile that said he meant no harm by his comment. Ethan had left him and Lorelai and was hanging by Levi. Brody ate his first sandwich in as few bites as humanly possible.

"So how do you reckon tonight's going to go?" He asked eating his second sandwich. "You are doing all right?" Brody looked a little sheepishly at his feet, a light blush coloring hi features. "Because I know you have trouble. I missed you this morning though."

Lorelai put a hand on Ethan's shoulder which caused a warmth to spread. Which he felt more when she gave it a squeeze. He knew what message she was trying to send though. He clenched his jaw knowing she wanted him to calm down. Of course he knew there was no way he could go against her. Ethan knew his brother felt bad and Lorelai wouldn't forgive him for making him feel worse. He looked away when Brody and Lorelai hugged. Shoving his hands into his pockets, Ethan worked on looking casual, like them hugging closely didn't bother him in anyway. Brody's blush didn't help ease his irritation.

Then the two of them took off to the ground below. Ethan took a few moments of alone time up on the platform before following them down. Of course he just jumped off and landed on his feet with a thump. Uninjured from such a large fall. He saw his acrobats getting sandwiches but he wasn't hungry and decided now was a great time to peel away. He couldn't stand to watch Lorelai so easily forgive his brother and the two of them act to upbeat to each other.

He gave a little nod of greeting to Levi and took the chair next to him. Ethan didn't say anything but leaned back and allowed himself to relax, even shutting his eyes. Upon reflection he realized that it wasn't exactly his brother's fault. It was more this curse they were both plagued with. Though when he opened his left eye and looked back over at Lorelai and Brody, and saw Brody looking all blushy and awkward his jaw clench in annoyance. Brody didn't see what Ethan did. Lorelai was their family, that why neither of them could go there with her. It would destroy their little family.

"You got a brother?" Ethan asked Levi casually. Although he hung with Levi from time to time he really knew nothing about him. Besides Ethan could use a distraction from his annoying brother. "A sister?"

ImageLori felt laughter bubble up from her as Brody lifted her and flipped through the air before landing softly on and returning her feet to the ground. He elbowed her playfully before moving towards Audrey and her plate of sandwiches, the true focus of his attention. She walked up behind him and took two sandwich halves. She nibbled them as she stood back and watched Brody. "Look at him bein a big sook," He said, motioning to Ethan who had walked away from them and towards Levi, the magician. She frowned a little. She had nothing against Levi and didn't mind Ethan branching out to talk to others. She just... didn't like that he hadn't said anything to them. She figured he was probably upset that she had forgiven his brother so easily, but Brody just couldn't help certain things. She couldn't stay mad at him for long. It was like staying angry with a horde of puppies or a basket of kittens. They may misbehave, but staying mad at them for things they just couldn't seem to help was difficult.

Her attention turned back to Brody. "So how do you reckon tonight's going to go?" He asked eating his second sandwich. "You are doing all right? Because I know you have trouble. I missed you this morning though." She smiled at him and finished the first half of sandwich before moving on to the second one. "I think things will go smoothly. At least, as long as Lola doesn't fly of her broomstick if someone so much as sneezes during a performance." She rolled her eyes. "As for me, I should be okay. If not, I know you and Ethan have my back. I also have a few pills in a watertight bag that I keep on my costume just in case. Her eyes seemed to smile along with her mouth, crinkling at the corners. "I missed you too, Brody. Both of you really. It's weird not having you two beside me all the time. It's like being a book without bookends. I feel like I'll fall over."

It was really an exaggeration, but there were days where she felt like if she didn't have her boys, she was lost and unstable. Of course, that was a rarity. The three were inseparable. "Are you two ready? You've practiced enough to keep the routine on your minds?"

Image

ImageLevi's head was relatively quiet, thanks to alochol and the uneventfulness of the day. He really hoped that it would continue, at the very least through the performance. He knew they wouldn't be gone forever. That would just be too easy.

He was watching a small group of performers practice their act when a movement from his left caught his attention. He turned to find one of the twins skulking towards him. He looked the boy up and down and nodded slightly. Not so much in a greeting, but more as a confirmation to himself that he knew which it was. Ethan. He was the more... subdued one. He was also a fine companion to Levi from time to time. Their moods liked to gravitate towards the dark and they often spent quite a bit of time alone together.

As Ethan approached, Levi asked, "You okay, kid?" He could tell the boy was upset about something. Based on the way he would look back at his brother and their inseparable third, Lorelai, he could hazard a guess it had to do with them. "She still doesn't see it, does she?" he asked him, knowing he probably wouldn't get a straight answer from him. His feelings for the girl was something that stayed buried deep out of love for his brother. The only thing that would coax him to talk was a good amount of alcohol. Not that... Levi would know anything about that.

"You got a brother? A sister?" the boy asked, catching the Trickster off guard. He stared for a moment, watching him."Uhh..No. No I don't. I guess when you have one freak kid, parents often try to keep from creating a horde." Although Levi would argue that it was not for lack of trying. He often heard his parents going at it like rabbits and he would do anything he could to drown out the sound. Including allowing his voices to run amok in his brain. It often left him with nausea and headaches, but so much better than what else he would be listening to. He looked at the two, busy eating sandwiches and not a care in the world. A naughty smile curled up his lips as he offered, "If it would help, I could turn them invisible." It was mainly a joke. If the ringmaster ever found out he had used his abilities like that, he was in trouble.

ImageLevi awaited his companion's reply as he watched the two acrobats. Movement to his left caught his eye and he turned. Dezi had finally decided to make an appearance. "Bet she was surprised to find her brother awake and working while she slept," he muttered to himself. "Bet she'll be surprised to find out what happened last night." Lavender purred inside his head. "Nothing happened last night."

There was a pause and for a moment he wondered if the voice would even respond.

"She doesn't know that." She suggested. Levi grinned nastily and stood from his chair. Maybe he would like a sandwich half or two. He was a little hungry afterall. He turned to Ethan before he walked away and said, "I'll return shortly, kiddo. Keep my seat warm for me, will you?"

He walked up to Aubrey and gave a slight bow with a flourish of his arm. A performer entertaining the crowd. "My dear lady, I will be taking that tray of yours, if you don't mind." He snapped and the tray disappeared. He took the tray, still visible to his freak eyes, and snapped once more to have it reappear in his hand. He took a sandwich half and took a large, slow bite, his eyes on Dezi. He licked at the sandwich's contents between the bread suggestively and then handed the tray back to Aubrey. "Thanks a ton, kiddo."

When the girl walked off, probably embarrassed at his spectacle, he turned to Dezi, the full force of his light blue eyes on the succubus. "Oh, Dezi. I didn't see you there. Surprised to see you out and about last night. You hit the bottle hard." He leaned against a support beam to relax as he teased her. "I'm surprised you're willing to show your face after you ran naked through the camp. Wings, tail everything. Even puked outside the Ringmaster's trailer. I couldn't believe it. By the way, your kissing needs work. It was all slobbery and you kept trying to grab my breasts." He motioned to his chest. "I don't blame you though. I have a wonderful rack." He looked at his nails, unable to look at the girl without bursting out in laughter as he placed the final nail in the coffin of his tease. "By the way, those wings are something. Did you know there's this one little spot on the right one that if you touch it just right I can have you screaming my name? Kept most of the camp up probably."

In reality, the two of them just sat outside watching the stars and sharing a bottle of scotch. Well, to be totally honest, she drank most of it and passed out. He had to carry her to the trailer she shared with Blaze, her brother. She probably drank more than he did. She definitely had her issues. As did Lorelai. He seemed to be the camps provider of vices. The booze pimp. The Drug lord. Okay, more like the Booze pimp. He quit the drugs after one of the freaks nearly killed themselves. The Ringmaster was furious and Levi felt terrible. So he stuck with booze.

"I think things will go smoothly. At least, as long as Lola doesn't fly of her broomstick if someone so much as sneezes during a performance." Body gave a goofy laugh at Lorelai's comment. He was too busy imagining Lola was an actual witch and smiling to himself. The green skin, black hair and a big mole on her chin. Hence Brody missed Lorelai's next comment but he phased back in to catch the end of it. "-in a watertight bag that I keep on my costume just in case." Brody paused for a second nodding absentmindedly as he tried to piece together what the first part of that sentence could have been. Did she keep food in a water tight bag? Or perhaps money? Or food? Or spare buttons? Or had he thought of food yet? Deciding he may never know what Lorelai had said, Brody just nodded like he understood exactly what she had said.

"I missed you too, Brody. Both of you really. It's weird not having you two beside me all the time. It's like being a book without bookends. I feel like I'll fall over."

Brody laughed and smiled, "Well, you wouldn't want to fall over up there Lori,"
he said pointing skyward to where the acrobats platforms were positioned. Then he bumped Lorelai with his elbow and grinned conspiratorially, "but you can admit you like me the best though. I won't tell Ethan,"
He said making the zip motion over his lips then miming locking them closed and then swallowing the key. "Oh wait!" She said his eyes going wide as he realized if he'd locked his lips closed he couldn't swallow the key. "One more time," he said holding out his hand in a 'wait' sign. Then he re-did his mime but this time dropped the key to the ground and kicked it away with his foot.

"Are you two ready? You've practiced enough to keep the routine on your minds?"

Brody gave her a sheepish smile and looked at his feet. He didn't want to make any definite statement. With him and his brother he could never be sure what they'd remember. Plus he'd just forgotten some of the routine before. "Well, I'm sure we're going to try our best," He mumbled quietly before looking up at Lorelai with a big grin, "We're definitely ready, don't even worry about it!"

"You okay, kid?" Ethan gave a half shrug but kept up his grumpy face. He didn't want to get into it, and expressing how he felt didn't come naturally to him so he avoided it at all costs. He didn't even like thinking about how he was feeling. "She still doesn't see it, does she?" Ethan gave him a look, apparently even without saying anything, Levi was able to read it on his face. When had he become so obvious? He used to think he kept everything held back behind the reserved facade. It didn't matter if Levi had hit the nail on the head with that comment, that was one thing Ethan would never admit to or speak out loud, as if that would be the thing that made it true.

So he shrugged like he had no idea with Levi was talking about. "What, that she talking to an idiot?" Playing dumb didn't come naturally to Ethan like it did to his twin, so there was no way Levi was buying it, but it didn't matter.

Ethan nodded halfheartedly as he listen to Levi tell him that he had no siblings, giving a slight chuckle at the hoard comment. "If it would help, I could turn them invisible."

Ethan laughed a little then shook his head. "See that's the thing about siblings, then I'd miss them," he informed the older guy. Some days Ethan wished to be an only child, though most days he was glad to have Brody around and he wouldn't have it any other way. Then Levi excused himself and left calling Ethan 'Kid'. Ethan felt himself about to comment that Levi was only 4 years older than him and Brody, but he bit back the comment deciding against it. Instead he leaned back further into his seat, closing his eyes and letting relaxation wash over him. Ethan was the kind of guy who never minded time spent alone.

"Eep! I'm going, I'm going!" Lola almost smiled as she watched Clarke fumble around for her outfit. Then of course Lola remembers who she is and goes back to her cold indifference. She watches herself in the mirror, using her pinkie finger to fix up a lipstick smudge. Then Clarke jumped in front of her to touch up her own makeup. Lola gave Clarke a once over making sure she looked fine and had everything, after all she was in charge of the showgirls and it was up to her to make sure they were all looking perfect. "Okay,"she said. "I'm ready!"

"Finally,"
Lola said with a fake yawn leaving the trailer, not bothering to hold open the door behind her for Clarke, she was a big girl. Lola walked over to the main circus tent, though the soft ground underneath was making it a little harder that usual. Every step Lola made her heels sunk deeper and deeper into the ground putting her a little off balance. Not that she showed any difficulty in her stride. No, Lola never looked like she was struggling at anything, she was one of those people who always had to look cool calm and collected. Even if she was regretting wearing such high heels, though they did make her legs look great.

Lola entered the main room with a scowl. Even looking at all the freaks wandering about put her in a bad mood. She pressed her lips into a thin line out of disgust, it was like she could even smell them. "All of you."
She said to whole tent, she didn't yell but her shrill voice echoed about the tent falling down on all the freaks. "Playtime is over. If you're not ready now, I really don't think you'll ever be." Her voice was condescending and held an air of superiority she'd bestowed upon herself. Of course if any of them weren't ready and looked it on stage tonight then they'd be hearing about it.

"Go get yourselves ready. People are going to start arriving soon and I seriously doubt any of them want to see you all look so..." Lola trailed off and made a face that said more than words could. Then she turned her back and walked away. All the performers would be going to get their costumes and make up on back stage.

"You sure know how to make an inspiring speech Lolita." The voice was slow and cold. Lola held back her eye roll as she turned to face The Ringmaster. She knew eye rolls and sarcasm never really went down all that well with The Ringmaster.

She instead went for a bored look and a half shrug. "I know how to get things done around here." The she flicked her eyes over to Clarke, "Clarke's going to take care of those VIPs you mentioned. What should she know about them?" Lola said repeating Clarke's question from earlier, because truthfully she'd been given no information about them. Accept, of course, that they were rich. They were always rich. Money seemed to be the only thing that earned you value in The Ringmaster's eyes. That and being a freak.

The Ringmaster frowned for a beat before turning her eyes to her colorful showgirl. "Oh, right. Absinthe. The colorful one." The Ringmaster said the word 'colorful' was some serious disdain. Which when added with The Ringmaster's fully black outfit said a lot about them. The the Ringmaster turned back to Lola only addressing her favorite showgirl, completely ignoring Clarke's existence. "They are some friends with someone I know from the land of Italy. Possible Investors. Don't speak a word of English. The Ringmaster gave a dismissive wave like not being able to communicate would be no hindrance. Which kind of hinted that they were the more sleazy kind of VIP, seeming as Clarke would really only be there as someone to look at not to talk to. "She should take one of the performers with her, I'm sure they like to meet someone with actual talent." Then the Ringmaster wandered off, something or someone else of importance taking priority.

"There you have it," Lola said crossing her arms.

Dezi picked up a triangle shaped half of a turkey sandwich. It was just the way that she preferred, turkey and mayo and that was it. She eyed the piece of food hungrily, but inside she scolded herself for even giving into the temptation of food. Her eating disorder was so overwhelming that this would most likely be the only thing that she ate this week. She savored every bite, her tongue trailing along the edge of the crust to acquire every drop of the mayonnaise. But she stopped mid-lick as someone approached her from behind.

"My dear lady, I will be taking that tray of yours, if you don't mind."

She had only eaten a couple of bites, but she discarded the treat in the trash can and wiped her lips before turning around. She watched the tray of sandwiches disappear and reappear again, but now in the hands of a well known colleague. She half rolled her eyes at this sight, obviously well accustomed to his tricks.

"Thanks a ton, kiddo." Dezi watched Levi lick between the bread and for some reason could not remove her eyes. Did he somehow see her before and now was mocking her? She averted her eyes to her rejected snack. She didn't deserve any food. Her eyes slowly met crystal blue orbs that were staring her down.

"Oh, Dezi. I didn't see you there. Surprised to see you out and about last night. You hit the bottle hard." This caused Dezi to scoff and she slightly shook her head. "Of course I did. Don't I always?" She looked away for a moment and struggled to remember the previous nights activities. The memories were hazy, she remembered her yelling at Blaze about something. Maybe that's why he was so uptight. She also recalled laughing with Levi. Her brows furrowed as she strained to sink deeper into her memories, but it was all cloudy. She drank nearly every night, and it was normal for her to shrug off the night before.

"I'm surprised you're willing to show your face after you ran naked through the camp. Wings, tail everything. Even puked outside the Ringmaster's trailer. I couldn't believe it. By the way, your kissing needs work. It was all slobbery and you kept trying to grab my breasts." He continued on about their supposed commotions.

Dezi stared at Levi, no emotion on her face for a few moments. She was silently trying to recall if anything he was saying was true. Instinctively her head tilted some so she could caress one of her horns while she thought. She ran her fingers over the rivets and scars in them without looking at the magician in the face. She was almost positive that Blaze would have picked her up and taken her back to their trailer before anything got that bad. But what if he had been trying at one of the showgirls again. She huffed and finally straightened back up to squint her large eyes towards Levi with an almost scowl on her face.

"What kind of bullshit are you trying to pull? For one, even when I'm drunk I know better to stay the hell away from her trailer. And about my wings, only a few have seen them in private. And I know for a fact one of them is not you." She gave him a quick smirk and a wink which couldn't be read into anything specific at all. She just liked to mess with people.

Almost on queue the head showgirl Lola yelled that the show would be starting soon. She watched Lola spout her orders then turned back to Levi. "Well I guess that means we have to part ways. Maybe tonight we can do whatever we did last night again." She chuckled and turned to go find her brother to get ready in their trailers.

ImageAs Levi listned to her talk, his eye strayed to her discarded sandwich and his chest tightened. She was still starving herself. Still, he smiled at her and threw his head back in laughter when she didn't buy his tall tale. "Can't blame a guy for tryin'," he said with a shake of his head. "Or a trickster for that matter." He added leaning in close.

I can blame a guy for not trying hard enough, Came the voice of Laurent from his mind, but he waved a hand as if batting the voice away. He wasn't going to spoil the fun. Not this time.

He opened his mouth to say something to her when Lola called down that the show was going to begin and Dezi turned away, dismissing him. Her final words, a promise to drink with him again, and he grinned. He turned to take a different exit to his trailer but caught sight of the nearly empty tray of sandwiches that Aubrey had apparently left unattended. He frowned, contemplating. Then he picked one up and walked quickly, but smoothly over to Dezi and stuck the bread in her mouth. "Darling Dezi. Performances always go better after a meal. Besides, mayo looks good on you." He wiped mayo off her cheek and gave it a peck before retreating as quickly as possible in case she exploded at him. He was pushing his luck, he knew, but a girl like Dezi didn't need to starve herself to be beautiful. She already was. Besides, where else would she get the energy to torment him?

Clarke followed Lola out of the trailers, only responding to her yawn with a fond half-smile. She grabbed the door as it swung towards her in Lola's wake, closing it more gently behind her and making sure she heard the 'click'. Walking as carefully and quickly as she could over the moist ground, she was glad she hadn't worn thin heels that day. From what she could see, had Lola been any bigger she would have been consumed by the earth.

She entered the main tent and immediately banished the frown on her face that had taken residence in the trip over. Instead she bore a soft smile, just in time to hear Lola's tirade ring out in the sudden silence of the room. Clarke's face remained mildly amused as the performers scattered, but at the appearance of the Ringmaster, her expression grew serious, even worried. Their elusive master had an aura of command that didn't sit well with her free spirit: whenever she arrived, the air seemed harder to breathe. Learning that she wouldn't be able to communicate with the VIPs wasn't too much of a surprise. Even the English-speaking VIPs were rarely interested in conversation– and even when they were, it was rarely conversation that required much thought. How'd a pretty girl like you end up in a place like this? She shook her head a bit at the memory. It had taken most of her willpower not to reply, Murder.

"She should take one of the performers with her, I'm sure they like to meet someone with actual talent."

The frown returned full force, with added grinding of teeth as the Ringmaster vanished. Pink day. Pink day. Pink day.

"There you have it."

"There it is," Clarke responded. She looked out at the remaining performers. "Now who would be more interesting to a gang of Italians?"

Her gaze fell to the twins, but she thought better of it. Although she got along better with one of them than the other freaks, she could think of one that would be better suited for this task.

"Hey, Levi! C'mere. I have a job for you."

ImageLorelai felt the heat race to the cheekbones of her face in a soft blush at the awkwardness at her actions. She wasn't quite sure why she had done it, but she knew that her friend had looked down and it made her worried. Ethan wasn't the happiest person, but she knew him enough to know when something was wrong. It was strange to see it, but not know. He usually talked to her about things that bothered him. She smiled shyly at him and her eyes apologized for making things uncomfortable. "Well I'm glad," she said, "We have a show tonight and I need you--the both of you--at your best. And I promise to be at my best to the best of my abilities." Her smile grew to full force at that. Then it faded as Lola announced that the time was coming for the show to start and they had to get ready.

She allowed herself to be pulled up by Brody, but nearly fell when she was released and Ethan pushed Brody away. She laid her head on Ethan's shoulder her just a moment as he put his arm around her. Then she reached back as if reaching for Brody's hand. "Let's go, Brody!" She called back to him. Her plan was to throw her arm around him when he came up beside her, but if he was still floating then it would be a near impossible task. She was glad Ethan's spirits seemed a bit higher now and walked with her friends to prepare for the show.

In their performance trailer, they had a multitude of costumes and Lori even had some waterproof make-up to wear for her water stunts. She searched her costumes for the perfect one before disappearing into a side room to change. She emerged in a bathing suit, and moved to the mirror to mess with her looks. She fluffed at her hair and held it up. Then she let it tumble down in waves at her shoulders. She sighed, pushing air forcefully from her mouth in a horse sound. "I have no idea what to do with my hair." She said to no one in particular. "It's easier to have up for stunts, especially after my water stunts, but down looks more showy."

ImageLevi was making a move for his trailer to get ready when he heard his name being called across the performance area. He turned, a bit annoyed, but smiling all the same. His grin became more genuine when he saw it was Clarke, aka Absinthe, coming towards him. She was probably his favorite show girl. Mainly because she was the nicest and seemed to enjoy shows for more than just the opportunity to make money. Which is somewhat what he figured Lola's motivations for working for the Ringmaster were, but he didn't think she got paid much more than the others... which was very little. "I have a job for you!" she said.

"What's up, buttercup?" he asked her. "I'm always up for a challenge. Does it have anything to do with the VIPs?" He had been asked to do a small performance for a group of the Ringmaster's VIPs before and so he assumed that since whatever it was was to occur before the main performance that's what it was. "Who are we entertaining today, gumdrop?"

Levi reached to put his arm around her shoulders, as he did with many of the other performers, but Larissa, his voice of reason, stopped him. "Don't. You don't touch the showgirls." She chided. "No matter how nice." He frowned and lowered his arm. When she looked at him, there was a smile on his face. He wouldn't let his thoughts show. At least, not at the moment. He had a showgirl on his side and he prefered to keep her there.

When Dezi had begun to turn away from her magician friend she routinely pulled out a slightly beaten up box. Inside it contained her cigarettes and a blue Bic lighter. She lit up a tobacco stick and shoved the box back into her pocket. She inhaled the smooth tar into her lungs and exhaled a large flume of smoke. Her eyes squint some to try and hone in on where exactly her brother was. It didn't look like he was still near the cages . Maybe he had already made his way back to their trailer when he heard Lola.

She shrugged it off after looking around another moment then turned back around toward the entrance. From off to the side, Levi spoke up again. Inside she was a little startled, but her face showed no emotion when she twisted around to face him.
"Darling Dezi." She gave a small smile. She loved his sweet nicknames, but she tried not to read into the flattering words. She was almost positive they were not acutely for her.
"Performances always go better after a meal." At this her content aura dropped immensely. Her eyes drifted to their feet. He had seen, yet again, her strewn away food. Her eyebrows knit in a sheepish manner and her eyes were clearly filled with sadness and shame. She loathed when people worried about her. She didn't want anyone to be bothered by the mere likeliness of Dezi McKinley. She now scowled at the ground. Angry at herself for being so obvious when she ditched her sandwich. Her green orbs slowly lifted to see his, many emotions spilling from her face, which was abnormal for Dezi.
"Besides, mayo looks good on you." A sandwich forced through her lips and mayo on her face which was promptly removed and replaced with a peck. She was taken aback by this gesture and a light rose glint showed through her olive skin. She removed the new sandwich from her mouth and watched Levi casually walk away. She couldn't believe any reasoning for why he would care so much about her. She wasn't worth the time. Her eyes shut tight, she forced herself to take a bite. Her eyes shot open as soon as it hit her tongue. It was her favorite again. Had he done that on purpose? Or was it a coincidence? Whatever it was, a weak smile played over her features and she gratefully ate the sandwich.
Dezi threw away her burnt out cigarette. She had been so overwhelmed when Levi approached, she'd forgotten that she had a lit one in her hand. She decided not to light another one and just hurry up and get ready for the show. She meandered towards her trailer, momentarily wondering what The Ringmaster was up to.

Blaze shuffled through the mess hall. He'd missed out on all of the sandwiches and was required to make himself something to eat to settle his aching stomach. A handful of strawberries in one hand, and leftover bacon from breakfast in the other. A strange combination for most, but the werewolf loved food and he could practically eat anything.
As he exited he came up behind Lola and grinned when she looked at him. He offered his hand out for her to take a strawberry if she wanted one. Most people didn't give Lola the time of day, but Blaze liked to make friends with anyone. He was definitely the social butterfly between him and his sister.
"I'm about to go get ready, but I was wondering if you wanted to catch up after the show. Maybe you could give me some pointers about my technique on stage." Blaze gave her another quick smile and his hand subconsciously was drawn up to his head to play with his shaggy hair.
His eyes averted from her for a moment when he caught sight of a blurred figure in all black. It was his sister, no doubt. Headed to their trailer. It's pretty nice that I don't have to put on a fancy outfit or glam up my style.
He thought. For Blaze, he would remove his clothing behind a large curtain to avoid ruining them, and attempt to change into a wolf while naked. Only one person had accidentally walked in before he had changed, and it was Lola. And she didn't seem too disappointed either.

Clarke had her reservations about the performers, but she found that some of them were far more tolerable in personality than others. While Lola preferred the cold, detached approach, Clarke always found it better to make friendly faces. After all, it was harder to stab a friend in the back than an enemy. Possibly there was also an element of sympathy in there, for she knew that a lot of the performers suffered from inexplicable ailments– sometimes a result of their powers, and sometimes not. Regardless, she beamed at Levi as she approached him, nodding at his first question.

"What's up, buttercup? I'm always up for a challenge. Does it have anything to do with the VIPs?"

"You win first prize, babe. Lola's asked me to welcome them, and the Ringmaster would like me to bring a performer along for some extra entertainment."

She saw Levi reach his hand up as if to put it around her, curiously pausing and looking as though he was listening to something, before retrieving his arm. It didn't show on Clarke's face, but she was thankful. "I'm thinking since you're not opening up the show tonight, the two of us can show them a good time? Maybe make some of their troubles disappear?" She winked, grinning at her own pun.

"Who are we entertaining today, gumdrop?"

"Some investors from Italy. Apparently not huge on conversation, at least not in anything non-Italian. Hopefully they're not too dreary– or drunk." Clarke visibly shuddered, thinking back to some previous times she'd entertained VIPs. After a few drinks, perhaps a few white-powdered trips to the bathroom to top it off, they could be awfully... grabby. And losing her temper was the last thing she needed with the hawk-eyed Ringmaster breathing down her neck.

"So what do you think, will you back me up?"

ImageLevi walked beside the showgirl, nodding interest at the correct intervals. Entertaining VIPs was something often requested by the Ringmaster considering Levi was one of the more... normal? Basically, of the others, his was the least likely to cause any trouble with his "gifts". The twins would forget things, Lorelai's pain was unpredictable, and the siblings were difficult to control.

As Clarke explained the intended audience of VIPs, he frowned. Shit He thought, Italian? Of all the voices in his head, none of them spoke a word of Italian. Laurent knew french, Lucian often ranted in Latin (which always freaked Levi out), and Larissa could speak greek, but no Italian. He licked his lips and said, "Italian isn't in my arsenal of languages unfortunately." It sounded like a rejection of her request and he shook his head, hopefully dispelling her worry. "I guess I'll have to wing it." He said with a grin.

He led them to his own trailer and requested, "Clarke, could you be a dear and wait just a moment for me to prepare?" before disappearing inside. Whether she waited for him or not, he needed to change into his "costume". It was a simple tux with a white button down shirt beneath and a charming black bowtie. He slicked his hair back and slipped pure white gloves onto his hands.

Pushing the door to his trailer open, he exited and moved to follow Clarke to the performance location.

"Italian isn't in my arsenal of languages unfortunately."

"Oh man, this is going to be fun," Clarke said, ready to accept Levi pulling out of the gig. The ringmaster might not be to happy with her, but she wasn't about to force him into something he didn't want to do.

"I guess I'll have to wing it."

She responded to his grin in kind as they walked, brightening up considerably. So she wasn't getting abandoned. At least there was that. The fact that neither of them had a way of properly communicating with the guests, well. They'd both have to wing it.

"Clarke, could you be a dear and wait just a moment for me to prepare?"

She nodded absently, still trying to pull up a game plan inside her head. However, planning had never been one of her strong suits, and she got immediately distracted by a bird, making rounds in the air until the closing of a door caught her attention. Her gaze landed on Dezi's trailer a little further away, confirming it as the source of sound as it rocked gently from the person inside.

It was around then that the Ringmaster made their appearance, coming out of the main tent and walking over to the trailer. Clarke squeaked, running around the other end of Levi's trailer, poking her head around the corner. Hopefully she hadn't called attention to herself, as she was already supposed to be greeting the VIPs. The Ringmaster entered Dezi's trailer without a look in her direction, however, and Clarke allowed herself a relieved exhale.

Shortly after Levi appeared in his tux, heading in the direction of the main entrance. She ran forth to join him, stopping at his side and walking nonchalantly. She considered whistling, but decided on avoiding any further questions by pointing to the entrance.

"Lot of people out there today," she said. "I hope they're a good crowd. I remember a couple of years back when I was still an assistant, a bunch of assholes had sat themselves at the front and kept trying to distract the thrower."

She laughed at the memory. "You really don't want the guy throwing knives at you to be distracted," she said. "Still got the scars."

ImageLevi smirked as he listened to the showgirl talk. "I can only imagine what that would be like Fortunately, my talent is potentially harmless." He thought for a moment before speaking again. "Would you like to be my assistant for the pre-formance." He smirked at his play on words. "You don't have to worry about sharp knives leaving marks on your skin." He grinned at her, his eyes taking on a dangerous glow.

"Levi!" Larissa's voice rang through his head and he winced. "Back off. You're probably scaring the poor girl." He shook his head hard, the dangerous look gone just as quickly as it had come. The only thing he could think was how badly he needed a drink. He kept walking, not caring if Clarke was following him or not. Once they got to their performance space, Levi watched the Italian VIPs converse for a moment. This time he waited for Clarke. She would have to start the show and he would follow her lead.

It was simple math. Sudden appearance of pretty girl - Italian language = possible entertainment. Sudden appearance of handsome male - Italian Language = possible threat. He could not appear a threat before the VIPs. The ringmaster would.. well.. wring him. "Show time." He said once Clarke was beside him.
