"...I was just unprepared! I didn't expect them to have such powers!" She protested stubbornly, biting her lips and huffing. "Really, I mean, I'm not weak. I was...I was playing around! I could do much better if I'd known!"

She was sour, oh, yes indeed. She didn't like having just been defeated by an animal half her side. No, not an animal a...a...Pokemon. Whatever that was. "And it's not because I'm a woman, if you're thinking that."

Running down the pathway, Albertine huffed, feeling her breath weaken in the hot, muggy summer air. It was her least favorite season. That much she could remember. She wore the lightest clothing she could find, which included a loose white sleeveless tank and a pair of khaki shorts. On her hips were her tonfa's, hidden in their sheathes until time for good use was presented. She stopped, suddenly, her breath just too heavy to go on. She bent her knees, hands running over the boots that ended below her knee. They were hot, yes, but she couldn't take them off!
Sighing, the woman looked up, just in time to see Jason with his bow notched.
She wanted to say something, but stayed silent.

"Oh, god," said Fox, wrinkling her nose in disgust as she watched the berserker walk up with some kind of...hair mammal. Giant hairy mammal. They had everything here, didn't they? She was about to greet him when he charged, which had Fox bending her knees and jumping up into the air before he could get to her. The only way she could do this was with the boots; they were enchanted.

"What are you doing!?" She yelled angrily, landing on the ground behind him.

"That's what it really means, then," grumbled Fox, placing her hands onto the ground. "So it's just empty rage, is it? Does that mean we wait it out or do something about it?" She asked, hands running to her weapons. She was glad she didn't bring his pistols. She would have been tempted to use them.

"I mean, I said I wanted to help you, after all."

Somewhat new to Wing City came Albertine, a woman of completely normal appearance, and was more normal than ninety percent of the residents there. She wore a very simple grey shirt paired together with black cargo pants. Not a thing special about it. She ran her fingers through her bobbed hair and sighed, wondering what would await her in this place today. Her guns and tonfa's were hidden within the jacket she wore, though she didn't doubt people already knew she had them for some psychic means or otherwise. The tips of her boots were apparent, and it wasn't nearly enough to get a good look at the runes upon them.
She was good, right? Yeah.

She spotted a woman that was somewhat similar in appearance to herself, along with a purple-haired man and a girl with cat ears, of all things.

Fox rubbed her hands together, an almost nervous gesture as she made her way, very carefully, to the bar counter. She studied the patrons on her way. It was something she must have picked up for the company...had to be, right?
As always, she couldn't remember. Her sights flickered back to the purple-haired lad, who greeted her with a smile and a polite "Good evening." She returned the favor, nodding and saying "Hello." As she sat down. Her eyes then swept to Aiyanna, who seemed busy doing...something. Something that required a good amount of her attention.

Something was so off about her, though.

Albertine Fox made her way into Gambits, just as wet as the other two patrons who had made their way into the bar earlier. She had a light jacket on, but it didn't do much for her without a hood. Drops fell down her face and rolled off her chin, dripping down onto the floor. Her bobbed hair was completely wet, but she didn't mind much; it was so short, it'd be drying out fairly soon. Briefly, she took note of the other two.
Were they....? No. Impossible. There were never two at one time. It just didn't happen.

Shaking her head, Albertine made her way to the counter. She felt the thump of her pistol against her side, but it wasn't much to distract her; it was a constant load, after all. She sat down, running her palm down her face to get the excess liquid off.

The woman turned her head and looked up at the man, reaching out a hand to catch the incoming towel. She thanked him and smiled, wiping her face dry and running the towel through her hair, as well. Dry, now. That felt tons better, especially when the warm air clung to her skin.

She took another glance to the couple, though without thoughts of them being an actual couple. They were just two humans, just like herself. Two normal humans.
God, was that rare. In fact, she was amazed at this. She'd never met another normal human in her entirety of being here, and though that only equaled a week, it was still a blessing. She stared for the longest time, trying to catch a glimpse of what was on that camera.

Fox could just feel as the woman planted her eyes on her, having previously been wiping off her face. She turned to face her, eyes wide as she returned the smile. Oh, but she'd been looking so intently at her. Was there something wrong? A splotch on her face, maybe? Her hair poking out at odd ends? She really couldn't tell.

Tearing her eyes away as the photographer ran upstairs, Albertine focused her attention onto Jackson. It was a mystery to her who he was conversing with, as well, but there was no harm in replying, right?

"And what about it seemed fake? She seemed fairly-" she paused to search for a word, rolling her eyes down to the ground. "Alright."

The young woman looked back briefly to eye the Jackal that had come in, but it was no more than a glance as she came back to Jackson, watching him intently as he spoke. Fox was a listener, her ears were usually open to anyone. Even those who didn't wish for her to hear. She hadn't even ordered a drink yet, just kept her eyes trained on his own.

"What a small world you must live in, when you think you can claim that every woman lies. I think-" she began, raising a finger to tap on the menu, "-that you've just got a mighty bad string of luck. Probably just barking up the wrong tree's...if you get what I mean."

Her drink came shortly, and Albertine put her thumb on the top, sighing somewhat. At his last comment, she laughed, taking a sip of her drink. “You’ve got to learn to live in that bigger world to try and find a woman that isn’t going to lie. By the way, I’m Albertine, who’re you?”

"Nice to meet you, Jackson," said Albertine, flashing him a smile. He didn't seem to be the cheeriest of fellows, but she doubted that whatever happened in his life previous to this place must have been the cause. She wasn't sure about her own personality, but she assumed that it must have been the cause of her life back on earth. A life she couldn't recall whatsoever.

Blinking those thoughts away, she took another sip of her drink, licking her lips. "Just who you are? Well, I'm not one to say if it's making you miserable or not, but if you don't like it about yourself, there's never a time when you can't change. Oh, but look at me babbling, you're a grown man, I shouldn't lecture like a school teacher," she laughed, half-apologizing.

"Me? Ah, my flaw," Albertine pondered on this for a few seconds, tapping the front of her boot on the floor. "I guess...I'm just too forgetful for my own good." She same lamely.

The half-assassin observed out of the corner of her eye as Jackson spat out a bit of his drink after she'd spoken. Whatever could have caused that? She lifted an eyebrow, but made not one comment about it.

"You'd say that, but when it comes to the point where that person doesn't even realize who you are...sorry, sorry, it's much more complicated than that. You're right in a way," she said, somewhat trailing off as she mumbled the last few words. Then, finally, as he took notice of her weapon, it was her turn to spit out her drink. It was harder with a bottle.

"...always expecting trouble. Always...especially in a place like this, you know?" She said, regaining her composure as she wiped her mouth with a sleeve. "I mean...it's a death trap for humans if you're not prepared."

"Do you ever wonder why you keep coming back?" She asked Keller, slipping from her seat at the counter and walking over to his table, drink in hand. She didn't even ask as she sat on the chair across from him. They'd already been speaking, after all. No need for permission. "You were attacked, right? Usually would cause a person to avoid a place like this, what with all these monsters running about." She slipped off her own coat, very carefully draping it over the chair. "I mean, even I got attacked her my first time. And look; we're here, talking like normal people do. Doesn't that strike you as odd?"

She looked to the door, as if suddenly alerted by something, but she pursed her lips in a quick thought instead. She turned her eyes back to Jackson, stare as intent as before.

A glutton for punishment, Albertine echoed in her mind. She wondered if that wasn't the same for herself. After all, the first day she'd gone there she'd been staked through the shoulder by a bloody spear. She had to agree with everything Jackson was saying.

Fox laughed, flashing a bright smile as she folded her legs and leaned back into her chair. "Well, isn't that what keeps us going? Reaching for things we think we can't have? When we couldn't move mountains, we destroyed them. When we couldn't fly, we made planes. We couldn't cure diseases, and so many are now gone from our populace already. You don't think that's incredible? It's not just our nature; it's out evolution."

"I can try," she told Keller, picking up her drink and emptying it. She hadn't even the interest for another; she didn't fancy getting drunk. Not when she'd finally found a good conversation to continue. "And I don't think I'm too surprised to hear what most of the people do in this bar, or any other." She tried not to think about it, anyway. Not when she wasn't even sure what to do with herself most of the time.

"What's something I can't have?" She said, thinking again. "Well, that's actually not a hard question, Jackson. Free will. I can't do a thing on my own." And, directly on cue, something buzzed in her back pocket. She took her phone out of the fold, looking at the screen. As it stopped, she looked back to Jackson apologetically.

"Sorry, it seems I have to leave, but it's been a pleasure speaking to you, it really has, Jackson." She said, picking up her jacket and sauntering out the door with one last smile to the pilot.

Fox got a package in the mail today. It arrived right at the door, sitting at her feet when she was walking out. She looked at it curiously, as if she’d never seen such a thing before. With some difficulty she bent down and picked it up. She was still pained by injuries, for it had only been days after a very intense fight with a demigod and some kind of samurai girl. She was still bandaged up on her calf, arms, and waist, where the woman had sliced her deeply. She had many stitches, many sore muscles, and many more bruises, one of which was displayed across her cheek. At least now she was safe, and the organization didn’t seem to want to bother her with notes and calls for a while.
At least they were doing that much.

Coughing into her fist, she placed the package onto the table. It was roughly one foot wide and half as tall. Within it were some items she did not remember, though they brought a feeling of nostalgia. One of them shocked her.
It was a ring.

Now, within Gambits, she sat down on a stool, a drink moved to the side and the ring within her fingers. It was a simple piece of jewelry. White gold, with a small diamond in the middle.
…what did this mean? Was it some key to her past that was supposed to jolt her memory? So many questions, and yet again there were no answers. None at all. How frustrating.

The assassin squinted her eyes, then slipped the ring onto her finger curiously. It fit. It fit perfectly. Should that have been unnerving? Did she have someone back on earth that was waiting for her? Wondering where she was? Or was she a widow of sorts?
The situation just seemed to degrade further.

At the mutterings of the gruff Russian man, Albertine turned her attention away from the ring, eyes on him as he laughed. She looked away, muttering to herself that it was nothing. Then, at the loud exclamation, she turned her head again to stare at her. The pink-haired girl. She was the one speaking tot he pair of well-dressed Englishmen int he corner.

"No, no, Albertine. No."

Fox looked toward Dmitri, the dark, black-blue bruise across her cheek startlingly evident on her pale skin. She was silent for a short while before she attempted a smile, which came out only half as meaningful. "I'm Albertine. Albertine Fox." She said, extending a sore hand for him to shake. Common courtesy, right? Even if one was injured.

"It does get terribly lonely here sometimes, I suppose," she began, turning the ring over so the diamond faced her palm. "Especially in the mornings and late nights."

"You think so? Heh...well, I guess the bruises and the stitches really give me away, huh?" She took a sip of her drink, grinning again. The jewel from the ring tinged onto the glass when she picked it up, causing her to cringe inwardly.

"Gunfire?" She said, feeling the weight of her gun against her side from the pouch in her jacket. "Haha, well, luckily, that's only ever happened when I was here once. I've never met any Aschen, but I see them on the news enough. Hope not to get entwined into all of that. Too much of a bother." As if she didn't have enough bothers already. She knew that the organization was going to have her deal with them sometime. Possibly after she healed up.
Frustrating, it was.

She noted the young man who had sat down not terribly far away, brightly colored but downcast and long-faced as an ass. And in more ways than one. She only glanced at him, not sure if she wanted to invite more to the conversation.

"So you've killed a lot of people, then?" She asked, not surprised, though something made her doubt a few things. Then again, she couldn't be a hypocrite; just because she'd only attempted to kill someone and failed doesn't mean it was any more right. After all, who was to say she hadn't killed people before her memory wiped?

"Well, I wouldn't know, Mister Zarkov. I haven't been here. Barely more than a week and a half. Everything is awfully..." she trailed off, looking for a word as her thumb ran over the ring. "Complicated."
