Description

Description

Name: Alexander Steele
Age: Forty-one
Sex: Male
Race: Human
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 210 lbs.
Appearance: Alexander is a charmingly handsome man with chestnut brown hair and sharp facial features. His muscles are well-toned from a long career in the Xeraph Dragoons. His skin is slightly sun-kissed, owing to the use of his tanning bed. His eyes are a deep blue, and his teeth a brightened white. His face is usually painted with a smile, and is always clean-shaven; although, despite his dashingly good looks, Alexander does have to keep his eyebrows waxed.

Personality

Alexander is a charming personality, bearing a silver tongue. He is good-hearted and charismatic, and is always willing to do anything for the good of those he cares about or is in charge of. As much a father figure to the younger Dragoons as he is their commanding officer, Alexander is also quite insightful and willing to part words of advice and wisdom whenever he can spare them. Despite his good nature, he is a stern disciplinarian, and does not take irresponsibility lightly. Good-humored and light-hearted, Alexander makes himself a good friend and mentor, and his charm makes him somewhat of a ladies' man. Behind that charm however is a dark need for vengeance against the Manasphere demons. That thirst for satisfaction has steeled him to become the best soldier he could be. In combat, Alexander is calm and tactful, able to organize his men to effectively retaliate against enemy attacks.

Abilities & Equipment

Dragoon Training - Alexander's time in the Dragoons have distilled in him great piloting prowess. He can pilot any vessel in the Xeraph fleet. Additionally, his service has instilled in him great tactical prowess, allowing him to assess a combat scenario and formulate a winning strategy.

Omisace Pulse Pistol x2 - Standard issue sidearm for the Xeraph military.

Interstellar Traversing Vessel Stalwart Valor - As Master Lancer of the Xeraph Dragoons, Steele helms the massive Warhorse-class ITV Stalwart Valor. It boasts supreme firepower, and serves as the flagship for the entire Xeraph fleet.

History

Alexander Steele grew up on the planet Salacar, a human colony of farmers and merchants. He was a good kid, charming and polite. He went through life, growing to become a handsome young man. His father had been the owner of a mercantile industry, which Alexander was destined to inherit at the age of eighteen. However, the boy's future would take a hard detour after his home world was decimated by Manasphere demons. Taking away from him all he'd known, Alexander was left lost, swearing revenge against the demons. When the Union arrived to combat the creatures, Alexander left with them, enlisting with the armed forces, becoming a Dragoon.

He showed great dedication, focusing on the tragic loss he had suffered as motivation. As the years passed, he excelled as a serviceman, and had learned how to deal with the turmoil of his loss. He was a favorite among officers for his discipline and charm; his ability to bond with the others was a very noble trait indeed. Climbing the ranks into becoming an officer, he distinguished himself in a grand naval battle against a group of Belkottan terrorists, earning him a Commendation of Valor from the Union council, where he formally met and began a somewhat romantic relationship with councilwoman Elestas vin Agra.

As Master Lancer of the Dragoons, Alexander is a steadfastly dedicated soldier, inspiring and active in his campaign for revenge, hoping to one day eliminate all traces of the Manasphere demons, and ensure that no one ever had to lose their lives -or their livelihood- to the monsters ever again.

So begins...

As she turned to walk away, Vorsa leaned in closer to Bastille. "If these rebels don't turn out to be who they say they are, I hope you're prepared to face the repercussions, Klaven." With that, the vresk rose from his seat, along with the rest of the council, and left the chamber. Bastille remained, sitting in his chair, contemplating, holding his head in his hand.

'Aeons help me,' he thought gravely.

Outside the chamber, the devilishly handsome Master Lancer of the Dragoons approached the Misranan group. "Lady Saree, I presume. It is a pleasure to meet you. I am Master Lancer Alexander Steele. I'll be leading the fleet in the campaign against your planet's oppressors."

The Dragoon took a bow, placing his right arm across his chest and craning deeply. He stood back up, looking to the woman and her party. "I'm here to inform you that we will be making our course to your planet soon. We'll be taking a route through the Manasphere, and should arrive at Misrana's doorstep in no time at all," he stated plainly with a smile.

Naluma stopped in front of the rather strapping man, but due to her sudden movement, her frock kept moving forward until it nearly consumed the man before her. Once the cloth settled, the woman bowed her head, and not at the waist, because he was lower than the councilors. "The pleasure is all mine, Master Steele. Especially since you all have been so generous as to help our cause. Could you describe to me what this Manasphere is?"

They arrived, traveling through the mystical energies of the Manasphere. Exiting in a flash of blue light in the Onyx Galaxy, Alexander stood on the bridge of his Warhorse-class vessel; the ITV Stalwart Valor, Naluma standing near him. "And that, Miss Saree, was the Manasphere. It is a dimension from which we derive our magicks and energies. It provides a limitless supply of energy, allowing us to further our cause." He looked out upon the starry expanse, a smile on his face.

"We've developed a way to extract its energies utilizing our technology, which works in tandem with the magicks provided to accomplish, well, just about anything we set out to do, and much cheaper than utilizing traditional energy sources." Turning to her, he grinned once more. "Well, we've arrived. I hope this journey has been largely educational."

"How familiar. The origin from which the magic energy on Celestria is much different than that on Misrana, however the use is the same," said Naluma, musing over the grand ship, much different than the cyborg ships she was used to, where one could feel the ground thumping gently as the beast's massive heart beat below them. This ship did not beat, and the floor was not as soft on her feet, but it had its own charms that Naluma took to immediately.

Once they arrived in the Onyx Galaxy, the woman could not conceal the amused smile. "How very useful. We were so very, very far apart. Two weeks at least from Terra, and farther still from the Aurora. It's been a little while since I've seen Misrana."

Indeed, the very colorful planet floated before them, locked in a slow pull around the blue giant, Zola. Around the planet there were various large satellites.

"There might be a problem. I can't introduce you as a friend of the rebellion or you might not get admitted by the Nahatsuan military. Those platforms- there's about forty in all- will hold you back. The reason we haven't been taken over yet is because of them. The Aschen tried to attack us once. We held our own until they flew off."

"Indeed," Alexander began, "There is much about the Manasphere we do not yet understand, but that is all a matter of time. What we do know is that it is a source of unlimited energy, or seems to be, and that it is a very versatile dimension. It is, however, quite a dangerous place as well..." he trailed off, thinking to himself. Eventually, he snapped his attention back to Naluma, a smile spread across his face. "But now we need to focus on landing."

Naluma seemed concerned.

Alexander pondered for a moment, then smiled as he faced her. "Then who shall you introduce us as?" he asked with a laugh. "Don't worry, Lady Naluma; if there's one things we are good at, it is getting to where we need to go. We could always simply send a group of Bison to the surface. THey would easily slip past any security measures," he looked out in the distance through the window on the bridge. "Unless of course, you have an idea of your own."

"I will let you know if it comes to that, Master Lancer. For now, let me convince the Nahatsuan army that you aren't here for the purposes that we've actually brought you for. Would you allow me to hail them?" asked Naluma, clasping her fingers at her waist. "I do not expect this to be a huge challenge. Perhaps not even tricky. I have my ways with the Nahatsans."

As her own ship came into view, she waited for Alexander to either link her to the ODPs, or for them to hail the ship she was currently in.

Alexander fired up the comms, directing Naluma toward them. "Do whatever you feel is necessary. Whatever helps us advance," he said. Looking out at the beautiful planet, he got a sense of unease. He'd fought in several campaigns, and never felt such hesitation. Something about their being here seemed improper; out of place. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but Alexander had the strange feeling that they were making a mistake coming here...

However, he shook the feeling off. 'Maybe I'm just getting more cautious these days,' he thought.

Naluma made her way to the comms, waiting for a prompt.

Once it came, the woman seemed cheerful to learn that an ustelan diplomat by the name of "Magannamus," was on the other line. That would be the extent of the conversation that everyone in the ship would likely be able to understand, for Naluma and Magannamus began to rapidly chat in Misranae to one another. There was a short pause in which Naluma threw back her head in laughter, then began the conversation again. Somewhere, her voice seemed to become more commanding, more conservative, and soon Magannamus cut off connections.

Naluma beamed up brightly to the Master Lancer.

"If you all would- we've been allowed access to the Zanzarian port! The ship I arrived on Rorian Grand will lead us there."

To his relief and utter cheeriness, Alexander nodded in response to Naluma's guidance. "Full sail ahead, men!" he called. The Stalwart Valor eased forward, following the path laid out by the strange ship Naluma had arrived on Rorian Grand in.

The Master Lancer stood, hands folded behind him, as the mysterious and marvelous world came closer and closer. Misrana was more lustrous than he could have thought it. Beautiful architecture, landforms and sea waters painted the planet's face, affording it a glamorous appearance that mere words could not accurately portray.

In short, Alexander was quite bewitched by the sights he was taking in. His mouth was agape in awe, as if he were bearing witness to the birth of the world itself; the construct of angels that lay just beyond hi reach, and he would soon have his feet planted above those marvelous landmasses. They came into orbit, and the Xeraph could merely wait further instruction.

Alexander was growing increasingly impatient.

The Zanzarian Port was an extremely vast city that had in its possession both an air and space port, and a sea port. It was a watering hole destination for many who were interested in visiting Misrana, but did not want to bother themselves with its war. The Supremacy did not bother itself with Zanzaria- not unless there were suspected rebels in the area.

But there was very little of that, here. At least, very little that was suspected.

The skyport was made of many different colored platforms, all of which could change colors to order the right craft to the right platforms. Many varieties of ships sailed around, most looking as though they belonged in the ocean rather than sailing through the sky. Though some seemed familiar, most would seem very alien to the new arrivals of the Xeraph Union. They were directed towards a massive, vibrant green platform that rose above the rest.

Zanzaria was something else. As the richest, and one of the most populated cities in Misrana, it had a lot to show for it. The buildings were so tall they disappeared above numerous clouds. Every building was a patchwork of other buildings- one skyscraper consisted of twelve restaurants, all by different companies, including a hotel, several apartments, and a mechanic's shop.

The higher the buildings, the more beautiful and expensive they were in design. Once one looked lower, however, Zanzaria became darker and bleaker, until one could only see shadows concealing the very lowest levels.

Alexander was awestruck by the architecture about him. "Quite a magnificent place, this planet. This place in particular reminds me very much of the Union's archology," he said. As much as he wanted to sight-see, he was here on official business. His biggest concern was getting his men planetside without arousing a collective panic.

He turned to Naluma. "This place, it's very extravagant. I can see why you'd want to defend it." He returned his attention to the world before him. "It will be an honor to help you reclaim this planet for your rebellion. Whatever you must do to get our troops to your people, do it. We won't hesitate to aid you."

He sighed, a solemness washing over him that he'd felt a good number of times in his lengthy career. It was the calm before the storm; that moment of reprieve one felt before bearing witness to the bloodshed that lay ahead in the battlefield's future. He'd seen many a man torn to pieces by war during his time in the military, and yet he somehow always came out alive. He hung his head, closing his eyes and gave a brief prayer in reverence for his gods and to honor the memory of the brothers he'd lost.

Returning to the mortal coil, he exhaled. "Shall we resume?" he said dryly.

"We are known for our vanity, Master Lancer. You arrive at one of Misrana's most prestigious cities. I believe this planet's beauty has no bounds, but there is ugliness here. You shall see it all too soon," said Naluma grimly, her lovely features turned to an ugly frown filled with grief.

It was only momentary, however, for as soon as the woman turned to face him a small smile lit up upon her features. "I hope you like submarines and trains, Master Lander. And I hope your men don't easily become seasick. The cities that house the rebellion are hidden, so we will need to smuggle you through an underwater subway system. The Supremacy, citizens and soldiers alike, prefer to travel by air, so we shall be safe."

Several bulbous ships that were large enough to carry a good amount of soldiers, but small enough to fit between the smaller spaces of the city's alleyways came down to greet them, with clear tendrils fluttering out behind them.

Taking in the sights and sounds of his surroundings, Alexander listened as Naluma spoke. "Clearly," he said, regarding her statement's about Misrana's aesthetics. He turned to her, looking stern and concentrated. "My men are quite capable of riding any vessel without problem, miss Saree. Whatever it takes to get us to where we need to be, we'll do it. But I will need to return to the Valor once I meet this rebellion of yours."

He continued to walk with her, taking in the sights. "Now," he began, "Just how are we going to get my troops down here without rousing suspicion?"

"This will not be a problem. I have friends here in Zanzaria. What anyone else will think is that you are here to explore the planet. We have already had camps of visitors in the Kazzei plains. There will be some suspicion- the Supremacy has had their eyes on Zanzaria a long time- but it won't be enough to cause them to act. At least, not for now. If they do, then that means they have broken the silence of the standoff and have pulled the first punch. We will be able to freely attack them in the open and win over the sentiments of more undecided citizens in that case. Either way, we have the upper hand."

She stepped out of the cold and metallic ship, leading the soldiers into the smaller, but numerous bioships that had come for them.

The first thing they would notice was the smell. To most, it was not an unpleasant smell. It was just noticeable, and soft, like a scented candle. After that, the soft floors and the heartbeat pumping through the rough carpet, the inviting heat, and the slight humidity within the ships would come in any order. The insides of the small bioships were not incredibly lavish, but they were pleasant. A stewardess in every ship, cleverly hidden rebel soldiers, would offer the soldiers drinks and refreshments as they descended into the port's lower levels.

"Please, if you feel the need to comment on anything you see or experience, do not hesitate," Naluma hummed over to the Master Lancer.

Alexander took a moment to ponder the good news, a smile igniting across his face. "Excellent. All that remains now is the actuality of getting my men to yours," he said. He looked around at the grand sights before him. If he were to try to comment on the things he saw, he felt he didn't have the proper words to express his thoughts. Not even in all of the Union territories had he seen such grandeur. The technology was magnificently engineered, the culture fascinating, and the atmosphere breathtaking. It was if he had entered upon the gates of Heaven.

"Miss Saree, in due time, I would like a more lengthy conversation about the culture you have here; I'm enthralled. Perhaps over dinner? I have a good many questions." With that, he turned back to his sightseeing. It felt more like a vacation than a campaign at this point, but he knew the splendor wouldn't last. Soon enough, he'd back aboard the Old Testament God barking orders at planetside squads and raining down energetic death upon his enemies.

It was a tireless effort, maintaining one's sovereignty, but it had to be done. At least it was all for a good cause; or so Alexander would like to believe. He couldn't shake the sense that something was off, that he wasn't being told something or that there were secrets being kept that he didn't know about. These rebels had only recently made contact with the Union and suddenly they being thrown into battle alongside them.

But why? Why would they come to the Union for help? More importantly, how did they discover the Union and decide on coming to ask them for assistance? He could address these questions over dinner, after the more pleasant exchanges were had.

"That would be perfectly acceptable, though I suspect both our schedules will be rather busy in the future. Perhaps there will be a small window of time."

Just before they were swallowed by the darkness of the lower levels, what one could only accurately describe as cyborg dragons flew overhead, riders clinging to their backs. Naluma entwined her fingers behind her back and let out a pleased sigh.

The lower levels were the deadbeat slums of Zanzaria. It was a cold, damp place filled with mist. The roads were rough and the streets were a labyrinth. There were a few people down there, mostly women in next to nothing, shivering next to foreboding alleyways as they waited for business to ride by, and men meeting other men about business better left out of earshot.

"It would be wise to tear your eyes away from this depressive scene," advised Naluma. "These are people who have long given up on a better life."

The ships all lined up tightly, one behind the other, as they came level with the street. The flowing tendrils that sprouted from each vehicle grabbed onto one another, sliding into grooves carved into the design to create a train. They floated adjacent to a building with one side made of columns siding a tunnel. Once there was an opening, the train of ships slid into the tunnel, and they began to descend even further, meeting water. Down, down, they went, until only the lights from the console illuminated the cabin.

In a rush, the walls that had been closing in on the train vanished. Some sunlight peered in from above but it was not significant. It was just enough to give form to the great coral masses around them, and the various species of strange and dangerous marine life, some bigger than the train, swimming around them.

Alexander stared out at the destitute people roaming around the filthy slums outside. He couldn't turn away, despite Naluma's advice. Suffering was an unfortunate side effect of life, but conditions such as these were horrifying. He looked out at these people, wishing there were something he could do to help them then and there. Of course, he thought that maybe his efforts here on this planet would help stabilize things; that maybe overthrowing this Supremacy might ensure these people would gain better lives/

"It reminds me of Sepulcher Town, back in Rorian Grand," he said. Turning to her, his face had a look of concern pasted upon it. "It was, at one time, one of the best parts of the city. It fell to ruin after a demon attack. This place, outside, is much like what you would see there."

The train descended further and further, and Alexander supposed they must be nearing their destination by now. He looked at his hands absentmindedly, before looking back out of the window. It grew dark in this space as they advanced, but he was used to darkness. He was just ready to get the ride over with so he could formally forge the bond between the Union and this rebellion.

It had been hours since Naluma, Alexander Steele, and his men had set out from the Zanzarian Port to travel to a rebel camp in Lana. Naluma had tried to keep Alexander's attention with small talk, but eventually she had directed her attention to the front of the car, where the pilot was, and spoke with him.

It was at this time that Alexander might have noticed static moving through his comm unit. Soon after, a mumble would come through them, and after that, a voice that could just be made out.

"Can you hear me? Be quiet and speak low if you can."

He was surprised by the comm. link establishment. It was very secretive, him being asked to speak quietly. "What's going on?" he asked in a low tone. The more he stayed here, the more uncomfortable he felt. It seemed as if he were walking into something that would ultimately be detrimental to him and his mission. As it stood, he couldn't say he trusted Ms. Saree.

But now, the tenseness seemed to be at an all time high. He found his hands naturally gravitating towards his sidearms, as if he were cornered by the enemy and were going to need to shoot his way out.

He found his nerve, willing himself to calm down. He tried not to let his nervousness show, but he didn't know how well that was working. He was putting his life and the lives of his men on the line here, and risking the safety of the Union by participating in this activity. It was natural for him to feel uneasy. He didn't know where they were going, so one couldn't blame him for being suspicious at this point.

The static faded gradually, and the voice, low, commanding, though certainly feminine, came in clear as a bell.

"Ah, good. You may want to be careful. I don't know who you are, but it's clear you're not from Misrana. You're showing up very strangely on the radar-" There was a quick pause, a few clicks, a mumble in the back, "-but you might like to know, there's someone on your zugaal who can't be trusted. Someone among the staff we don't recognize. Don't close your eyes, and check on your men in the back." There was another mumble from the back.

"Where are you headed? Supposedly. Can you tell me? Who is it taking you there?"
