Abilities & Equipment

Beskar Armor - Thalgan, like any respectable Mandalorian mercenary, is outfitted with a sturdy suit of beskar armor; nearly indestructible, it is capable of resisting most attack types, allowing Thalgan to endure large amounts of punishment and walk away relatively unscathed. The carbons added to Thalgan's armor during the forging process make it significantly lighter, making him more agile due to decreased encumbrance. Included with this armor set is a pair of Mandalorian crushgaunts; gauntlets imbued with micronized beskar, capable of vastly augmenting the wearer's strength, allowing them to crush bone, metal, and other strong materials. Additionally, Thalgan's crushgaunts grant him the ability to catch and hold lightsaber blades in his hands, affording him certain advantages over the likes of Jedi and Sith. Finally, his armor has been insulated with non-conductive fibers to prevent electric shock and to maintain regulated body temperature.

Corondexx VEE-80 Pulse Rifle - A sturdy pulse rifle outfitted with some of Thalgan's own customizations:
  • Cooling System A combination of a liquid and ventilation-based cooling system set in place to mitigate any problems with overheating. This addition has increased the lifespan of the super-conducting filaments used to regulate the beams fired from the weapon.
  • Internal Rails - A magnetic rail system has been installed within the interior of the barrel, allowing the ion beams fired from the rifle to be channeled into and discharged from a magnetic field, exiting the weapon through a specially-crafted lens made to compress the beam into a more focused form. This has improved the accuracy and velocity (and thereby range) of the beams fired.
  • Capacitor - The installation of a capacitor has greatly reduced energy consumption from power packs, allowing for more discharges without depleting the energy stored in a power pack. What would normally amount to fifteen shots has been increased by ten, allowing Thalgan more time in combat and less time reloading.
  • Improved Sighting - A manually-calibrated scope has effectively transformed the VEE-80 into an adaptable rifle, able to fire from longer distances with improved accuracy.

Tenloss REV-011 Disruptor Rifle - A weapon that shoots a devastating beam that spreads a violently conductive energy through a target's body, effectively disintegrating them at the molecular level, quite literally ripping the unlucky quarry out of existence. It is an effective sniping weapon, dolling out gruesome death from great distances.

DE-10 Blaster Pistols - A pair of DE-10 blaster pistols; effective in close to mid-range firefights. Each fires twenty shots to a charge.

Holdout Blaster - A miniscule, short-range blaster for easy concealment, meant for carrying into places where weapons are normally restricted. Fires six shots to a charge.

Homing Missiles - A shoulder-mounted missile launcher that homes in on targets that are tracked by the targeting system in Thalgan's HUD. The launcher carries up to four missiles at a time.

Flamethrower - Wrist-mounted flamethrower. Used to incinerate enemies and flammable obstacles.

Vibroknife - A combat knife with a vibrating blade, made to cut through most substances like butter. The blade itself is made of beskar, capable of colliding with even lightsabers without breaking. This weapon is Thalgan's go-to choice for dealing with close-quarters encounters.

Thermal Detonators - Highly unstable grenade-like devices with various uses ranging from anti-personnel to anti-armor. Thalgan's thermal detonators possess thermite casings housing a larger amount of baradium than normal, which, when activated, causes a fusion reaction within the weapon. The detonator will then adhere to nearby metal objects, such as armor, before unleashing a devastating explosion, obliterating those caught within the 8-meter blast radius.

Hand-to-Hand Combat Mastery - Thalgan, being a Mandalorian, has been trained in a variety of martial disciplines, attaining mastery over certain forms of hand to hand combat. These skills make him formidable, even without a weapon.

Thruster Boots - Boots outfitted with powerful thrusters, allowing Thalgan to attain vertical mobility, granting him an edge over grounded foes.

Thalgan sat, quietly reserved, at a small table on a patio overlooking the plaza. He'd been invited to this diner by an anonymous entity that had promised him work in his field of expertise. Being a Mandalorian, taking to mercenary work was just about the best thing he could do. He had been bred and raised for conflict, so it was only natural that he seek out a lifestyle that encouraged such activity. He was young, and eager to set his name in the records as one of the greatest mercenaries the underworld had ever known.

He had ordered a glass of water to keep him company as he awaited his client. Eager to finally put his skills to work, the anticipation of not shaking hands with this person was beginning to get to him. His eyes shifted this way and that, the faintest hint of a smirk appearing every time he thought he was being approached. Still so young, his inexperience with the professionalism of this line of work showed; it was painfully obvious to anyone with a trained eye exactly what he was waiting for.

The boy carried the posture of a career killer, but had more difficulty concealing that from the public. His eagerness to dive in and show them what he could do was rather unbecoming of him, but that didn't speak for his skills. Ignorant he may have been, but he'd be damned if it couldn't be said that he was good at what he did.

That being, killing for a profit.

Thalgan had indeed sat for quite some time but it was not due to a tardiness of the other party or any ill intent against the young man. No it was simply that Douglas had been watching him from afar and with a ever intention of finding himself the perfect new tool that the Council needed. It was only when a blonde woman walked up to him and asked if there was anything she could do for him that he simply stood up from his own seat and smiled to her. "Escort me to that young man's table over there and bring my order over. Also I would like to order a new drink. If you would be a dear and bring a bottle of your Inglenook Cabernet, the expensive bottle you have on your menu, and two glasses I will be sure to leave you a rather reasonable tip." Douglas smiled at the woman who in turn returned his smile and did as she was asked.

His eyes fully fell upon the face of his new favorite prospect and with an extended hand he remained as cheerful as ever and offered the same warm smile he did for the wait staff. "My name is Douglas Hal Weskit and I am a representative for Mars Corp. and for our good friend David Malachite who runs the company. It is a pleasure to finally meet you Mr. Vash." The young woman quickly left the two alone and Douglas once the formalities were done simply glanced at the seat opposite of Thalgan only to chuckle. "Might I take a seat so we can begin conducting business. From what I understand you are rather adept in dealing with the institutional changes that a chaotic environment in certain lines of work can pose upon any well practiced delegate." Douglas simply would lean back a bit in his chair as he looked over over the view. He reached into his jacket pocket and produced a tin pack from within only to open it revealing a four Toro style cigars within. "Do you smoke Mr. Vash?"

The man that appeared before him was quite a remarkable gentleman. He arrived to Thalgan's table with one of the waitresses in tow, who ushered the man to the mercenary's table. He sat, striking up a conversation and inviting the Mandalorian to join him in a smoke.

With a wave of his hand, Thalgan declined Douglas' offer of a cigar. He was here to get down to business, but appreciated the hospitality nonetheless. "Nice to meet you," the young Mandalorian responded. "If I may get straight to the point, Mr. Weskit, what is it exactly that you need me to do?"

He understood what his role would be; that of a hired gun, as intended. He just had no idea who he was working for (what this Mars Corp. was, specifically), or for how much he would be rendering his services.

At the decline of one of the smokes Douglas simply placed the stogy in his mouth and brought his bare hands up to the end which suddenly glowed brightly as embers fell into place and a single large puff was taken in. He simply continued to lean back in his chair and look upon the gunman only to smile and remove his cigar from betwixt his lips allowing the smoke bellow out from his mouth when he sighed a little.

"You are a very talented young man and don't think I do not respect your directness in this matter. After all I did keep you here in a place that you obviously feel out of place in though I have to say you did a smashing job appearing to blend in rather nicely." The businessman simply produced from a pocket a small holoprojector which he set in the middle of the table. "Mars Corporation is a large company with ties to weapons manufacturers and medical research stations as well as anything to everything that the common man might be using at this very point in time. Now as to little interview of ours you are a man with a certain set of skills that I am interested in acquiring for my companies personal use and for those who my company represents.....I will speak rather plainly with you as I am sure you are someone who finds comfort in that. Murder is a necessity that very few of us like to deal with but find that there is little choice in the matter."

Douglas activated the holoprojector producing images of several Sith and Jedi targets along with foreign diplomats and people who sat in opposition with Mars Corp and its goals. "Sometimes we have to deal with those people who are even inside our own company." He took back up his cigar and looked over to the young server who had escorted him before now carrying a stuffed pork chop and a side of potatoes and beans along with a smaller tray consisting of the bottle requested and two cups. "Thank you my dear. " Douglas spoke up only to offer the woman a rather large tip in advance. He took up his fork and knife and then looked up at Thalgan. "We will even have duties for you to obtain certain items from other companies that we feel are stealing from our profits."

Thalgan stroked the stubble of his chin in mock contemplation. Killing, stealing, reconnaissance; all things he was more than capable -and willing- to accomplish. For the right price, of course. The rush of excitement spread throughout his person, the anticipation of the prospect of performing his contracted obligations making his anxiousness spike. Although, he did his damnedest to conceal this feverish excitement. "Sounds like a plan," he stated.

Indeed, he found the idea of working for Mars Corp. to his liking. As long as they kept pouring in the work, he'd have no qualms about performing. However, there was still one thing he needed to discuss with Douglas...

"But, there is the matter of my pay to address, Mr. Weskit," he stated finally.

Douglas smiled and nodded as he cut into his meal. The businessman ate a bit only to wipe clean his lips and simply looked over the young man knowing full well the others hidden excitement. "I am happy to hear you like the plan thus far and you are a very intelligent man for asking about the pay." Douglas began to chuckle a little as he began to run the numbers in his head for what he could pay the contract killer and what he could push for. "How many jobs have you had in the past before I contacted you? How much did they pay you to keep doing a descent job?"

Douglas poured himself a bit of the wine he had ordered only to pour the same amount into the second glass brought just to offer it to the man. "You know the reason why I ask is so that I do not offend your sense of work ethic. I would hate to have you as my best friend one day and then the next find that your gun is at my back."

Thalgan had to sit back and take scope of Douglas a bit more. "I've performed a few odd jobs here and there, but nothing as serious as this, I'm afraid. I'm still quite evaar'la, new, as far as mercenaries go," he stated, clearly not quick to revel in his past dealings. Looking over the scenery, Thalgan couldn't help but feel he were at a turning point in his life. This was the day he'd dreamed of; the day he'd begin to make something of himself, finally. The day he'd mark his legend in Mandalorian history.

"And as far as the pay for those jobs are concerned, the pay was enough to get me here today." With that, he continued to look Douglas in the eyes. "All that should matter now is that I am here, and am willing to work for you, and so long as the pay remains good, you need not worry about my turning aruetii."

"Then we have a prosperous future together then." Douglas smirked and offered his hand. "Getting in here is not cheap. I promise you that coming to a place like this will be a common thing for you if you are hungry then." The businessman simply would go back to his meal and set before his mark a small credit chip. "Every job you take for Mars Corp or one of our many employers will range from fifty thousand credits and up. Depending on the amount of danger and the assets we also provide the amount of money will clearly go up." Douglas began to pause a bit as to measure the mans reaction only to take a small sip of his own wine and then a puff of his cigar.

The profit margin as depicted by Douglas was rather remarkable, causing Thalgan's eyes to widen. He smiled, a rather wicked and wolfish grin that betrayed his true love of wealth. "I think we'll be getting along just fine then, alor," he said, displaying just how much it cost to buy his loyalty.

"I'm ready to get started whenever you need me then," he stated with finality. He took a deep breath, relaxing in his chair and placing his hands behind his head. It was an all around great day for the young Mandalorian. He thought, briefly, of how proud his father might have been had he known the man for any period of time.

Douglas did indeed know just how much it would take to get this man under his thumb. Regardless he smiled and produced a small communications device which he offered to the merc. "I will get into contact with you when I will require your services but as for now I am actually wanting you to do a bit of work for me. You see I have no qualms when talking about the kidnapping or murder of someone." Douglas cought himself as he began to frown slightly just to then shake his head. "As of right now you will accompany me and one other in the future to pick up a rather interesting fellow on an Aschen home world. Choi and I have yet to meet one another but I was warned that she can be a bit testy and I wish to make sure that the target does not get his throat slit until it is called for."

Douglas waved over the young serving girl only to smile at her and offered her a credit chip. "Get this man whatever he wants to eat." He then turned his gaze back to Mr. Vash just to toss the man another credit chip similar to the one he handed to the serving girl. "Your first installment as I am not sure when I am to leave just yet. Consider this a gift between you and I and one that is not officially on the record books yet. On that chip there is twenty thousand credits which should be enough to pay for any living expenses or other goods. Try not to spend it all in one location."

Thalgan slid the credit chip towards himself, picking it up from the table and pocketing it. "I don't need anything just yet, thanks," he said to the waitress. Concluding that, he returned his attention to Douglas. "Well the, I can get started whenever you're ready to take me on," he said plainly.

"I'll just need a moment to grab my gear and supplies before we go."

Douglas Weskit smiled and nodded to the man only to point to the communicator. "I imagine it cannot be a terribly long wait before I move with this woman to capture someone who has yet to know our intentions. Just consider me a friend who is always looking out for your best interests at this point and enjoy your time before we move again."

"Ah... I'm sorry sir, but we don't accept this currency here..." the serving girl explained.

The woman had never seen a credit chip before, but it was certainly not Isirian currency, nor Aschen.

She placed it back down on the table.

"You do have Isirian money, right?" she asked.

Something about the situation was odd she thought. They didn't get many foreigners here, especially with the borders closed off to immigration and tourism at the moment. Still, there was probably some explanation for it and she put it from her mind.

Meanwhile unbeknownst to the pair, their exchange was being recorded on several surveillance devices situated around the plaza, as well as a scouter drone - one of thousands that patrol the city. Those familiar with Illumene likely would have known to make use of the blackout zones to engage in illegal conduct, rather than the crowded plaza that had surveillance on every street and corner. Unfortunately these two were unfamiliar with Illumene surveillance practices.

The hovering drone hummed overhead as it meandered its way through the crowds scanning people along its route. The optic lens on the drone whirred and zoomed in on the strange currency as it scanned its databases while also taking images of the faces of the two individuals, and the serving girl, all of which where checked against a national database before Thalgan and Douglas where flagged as illegals.

The drone didn't stop as it passed them by, and it showed no sign of having detected anything amiss as it moved onward along a pre-programmed patrol route. The scouter drones only served to submit information via a live feed, but didn't themselves respond to any peculiarities they came across.

Well, this wasn't going to be good for Douglas at all. Unless the man could magically come up with some local money, he'd have some explaining and/or dish-washing to do. As for Thalgan, he had no service bill to entangle him, so he decided to take the time to make his way back to where he had stashed his equipment.

"I'll leave this to you, Mr. Weskit. I have somewhere to be." He walked away without a wave, feeling particularly perturbed about this whole scenario. He rather hoped Douglas would be able to settle his debts without issue, mostly because he liked the proposed pay grade he had been offered. An uneasiness settled over Thalgan as he walked away.

He couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched.

He'd picked this part of town because of how seedy it was. It offered him the perfect place to stow away whilst he tried to navigate his way into employment. He'd found an abandoned apartment, one of several desolate buildings, to keep himself holed up within.

Sitting on the floor, cross-legged, he stared into his hands. He was contemplated on all he had accomplished, of the trials he had to complete in order to attain the honor of possessing such a thing. His ultimate prize being the title of Mandalorian. He savored every moment of it. He was a warrior, through and through, and he was destined to prove that...

For now, however, he needed to wait to make his next move.

Douglas had never thought he would be in this situation before. Of all the silly mistakes he could have made this was one he was sure to drink about with his friends later. "I will be getting into contact with you at a much later time Mr. Vash." Douglas then looked at the lovely young girl only to cover his face in sheer embarrassment only revealing his devilish smile. "I suppose I am going to have to deal with this situation deal with this the old fashioned way." Douglas brought his hand down to look at the woman just to offer an apologetic smile, "Forgive me."

It was the last words Douglas spoke before he turned away from the woman and took up his umbrella only to hop the railing to the patio of the just to then rush down an alley and weave through a crowd of people just to change his form into a small cat once he turned the corner into an alleyway. It was from there that his transmutation was complete and he would walk down the alley and around the corner. He did feel bad for leaving the poor woman and he hoped she would not pursue him for the money.

Thalgan had taken a stroll through the park, waiting to be transported back to the ship he had arrived on. He'd run into some problems over the last couple of days; the news had just reported on Douglas' arrest, and his face had been shown as well, labeling him as an at-large suspect.

He kicked himself for allowing this to happen; a more secure location to discuss business, or at least speaking cryptically, would have been ideal. However, he had trusted that Douglas knew what he was doing, and now he was having to hide himself from the world around him because of it.

He had retrieved some clothing from a homeless man, in exchange for his own, back in the Blackout Zone he had been laying low in for the past few days. They were a dingy set of threads consisting of torn jeans, worn-out sneakers, a faded red shirt, a patchwork long coat, and a rather itchy scarf that was now fashioned into a rather itchy shawl. This worked well for him, as it was particularly windy today.

He awaited his transport; he'd been told to wait on one of the benches whilst they made preparations to pick him up. After sighting the one they had designated, he sat, hands in his lap, head down, eyes rolled up to keep an eye out for any unwanted company. Now all he could do was wait.

A rental car rolled up and the driver side window slid open smoothly.

"You're lucky Kane didn't leave your ass here," the driver told him with a scowl.

The cryon smugglers had an eye for desperation though, and they knew that Thalgan would be desperate to make himself scarce after his face wound up plastered all over the local news. There was profit to be had off that desperation. Certainly more than the initial agreed upon arrangement.

"Get in," he said as his window started to roll back up. "And keep your face away from the windows."

The park, like much of the city was under surveillance, and there wouldn't be profit for anyone if they dawdled and attracted unwanted attention.

There were two others in the vehicle, a woman in the passenger seat, and a second man in back. Cryons the lot of them. The woman had a disruptor rifle wedged down from view at her side, and the man in the back had a pair of side-arms strapped on. They hadn't been armed when they smuggled Thalgan into the city earlier, but they where certainly packing heat now.

A thick smog of pote, an Isirian recreational drug popular among the cryons, filled the vehicle as the man in the back took a few puffs of a thin joint he was smoking.

If they where doing this, he was doing it high... fuck the central planets.

He moved from his place on the bench, approaching the smoke-spewing car and entering the back seat, seeing the other man sitting there with weapons in tow. He'd have killed to be able to carry his own around like that, but these people were in a much better position than he was. He had no interest in the drug they were partaking of, preferring to keep his mind clear in case his skills were needed.

Thalgan sat down without a word, keeping his head bowed as he ran over in his mind the events of the past few days. Douglas had been arrested, after openly discussing his business in plain earshot of the many surveillance apparatuses that had decorated the city, of which Thalgan had been oblivious to at that moment; his eyes were constantly scanning for them now, had been as he made his way here. Now he was on the run, having no idea where he would end up next.

Awaiting the driver to decide when he felt like driving off, Thalgan remained silent, an anger at Douglas, and mostly himself, building up as the car began to pull away from the park.

The Cryon smugglers drove easily through the city streets, making sure not to draw unwanted attention onto themselves by doing anything reckless. Though, every time they drove past a police vehicle, Thalgan could see the tenseness in the woman's arm as her hand gripped that rifle.

She kept it down below the window of the car though. Nothing would get them pulled over faster than flaunting illegal weapons in the city.

"Kane's not happy with you," the driver said as he glanced into the rear-view mirror to get a look at his passenger before returning his eyes to the road. "It's too hot to move you off planet right now. So we'll be taking you to a safe-house, and smuggling you out with some fugitives in a few weeks. Hope you don't have any pressing engagements to make it to."

His attitude suggested he didn't really care if he did or not. Far as the Cryons where concerned, this was Thalgan's fault, and the only reason they hadn't cut him loose, is because they could use him.
