"My sword might be with my brother, but I have no idea where he is." Kaj had a weird sword. If he couldn't find it, it'd be near or next to him once he slept and awoke. So maybe the library would be a good place to look around since he slept there for who knows how long. "Or it might be in the library now that I think of it." Kaj grabbed some more food to eat. He cleared his plate thing in about two more minutes. His stomach was like a trash compactor. Since he hadn't eaten any solid food until today, he could take a lot.
"So how does one train? What is training on basic magic like?" He repositioned himself to have his body face Hayden so he didn't need to turn his head. Kaj would like to stay away from the 'labs', and he spoke his mind. "I'd like to stay away from these... labs. I don't have fond memories regarding them." Including he was made in one.
"It might be difficult to track the sword without using the lab, but I'm sure we will figure something out. As for the magic training it's basically helping you to learn how to harness your natural powers and learn the basics of controlling them. It can be fun, but also frustrating in the beginning." Hayden could see the glimmer of fear in Kaj's eyes as he spoke about the labs, so he decided not to push it too much. "I might actually have the stuff I need to make those things in my dorm room. I could make the stuff I needed there if you'd prefer. I promise they won't hurt." Hayden still thought they would have better luck with his machines rather than just looking the old fashioned way.
Kaj could feel a throbbing pain in his head. Something exerted so much energy, he could feel it. No matter how far away it was. But then he was hit with another feeling. Kaj felt a pullback towards the library. Something had either awoken there, or the person who gave him the sword had appeared in this world and now the sword was calling out to Kaj. He was unsure.
"What's wrong? Are you going to be okay?" Hayden was a little confused and scared. "Do you need a doctor or are you going to be alright?"
'Kaj remembered the time he was in a lab. Being torn apart and being put back together. They experimented on him while he was weak. He'd just been found in the rubble of the bombing and they took him in. Ark decided to ask Trejik for his permission to do anything to make sure his brother lived. He, of course, accepted. Now, back to the torn apart part. They replaced every organ in his body. They didn't care if he survived or die. He would just be a... 'casualty'. They soon, however, found out he did have magic. Just not the type they thought. So, during the time he was awake, they ran him through combat simulations. Live, combat simulations. For the first few times, Kaj's body was decimated. And each time, they replaced everything in his body. Ever since his "fluke", he's been able to handle things no one could handle. Well, not really handle, but live through. After a few times, Kaj started to get the hang of it. Soon after he got the hang of it, they put him against people that could manifest their magic. At first, his body melted from the inside. But after a few times, he began to transfer their dangerous energy into harmless energy. He harnessed their energy and made it so it was entirely useless. But his sword also began to emit brighter and brighter. Kaj was put into cryo every other month. But after a certain event or knowledge they learned, they put him into a cryogenic sleep for twenty years.'
{Side note. If he went through an x-ray, it would be easy to tell how many times his body has been put back together because of how his skin grew over the stitches they did.}
Then Kaj suddenly awoke. He forgot about all of that until now. "No more!" He flailed his arms frantically to anyone right in front of him or near him. His energy had returned, but not all of it. Kaj was still exhausted to a degree.
Hayden could tell by the way Kaj was tossing and turning in his sleep that he was reliving some horrible things, most likely the things that made him skidish about labs. He could tell Kaj was scared.
When Kaj woke and began to flail Hayden did the first thing that came to mind. The one thing you do when someone is scared. He grabbed Kaj in a hug, not caring how hard he was being hit as his body would heal easily if needed, and he tried to calm him down. "Shhh, shhh, it's okay Kaj, you aren't in the lab any more. You're safe, nobody is going to hurt you. Shhh, shhh." He spoke in the calmest voice he could. "We found your sword and you're safe, we just need to adjust the sword's properties so that it doesn't drain all your energy. It probably got altered when you were brought here." Hayden continued to hug and calm him as best he could. It felt as though his fever had gone down as he held Kaj, which meant that the dampening field was working and keeping the sword from draining him.
All that Kaj could remember was the pain. Having his insides melted. His body torn apart and put back together. The only thing that was never damaged was his eyes. His mind just somehow regrew, so they never opened his head.
Closing his eyes, he began to rest for a bit. Still awake, just resting. But Kaj also forgot he was hugging someone when he tried to rest. So, when he did remember, he released Hayden from his tight hug. "S-So. I didn't do anything too outrageous in my sleep did I?" Kaj smiled awkwardly as he rested his hand on the back of his own neck. It was an interesting that Hayden knew how to do all these things. But his mind was still wondering where they were. Maybe in a dorm room? It might've been where Hayden slept, going by how it looked.
As the hug ended, Hayden felt a little awkward and scratched at the back of his head like he always did when he was unsure of what to say or do. "No, nothing really outrageous, but you seemed to be going through some kind of post traumatic flash back and I think I figured out at least part of what's going on." He tried to focus a little more on the situation, but found himself looking into Kaj's eyes, they were a little mesmerizing with their different colors. "Right..." He stammered trying to bring himself back to what was going on "The sword and you are connected through a bond stronger than any magic bond I've ever seen. It's like there's literally a piece of your soul infused to the sword. And I'm guessing when things happened to you they were things that would have killed anyone else, well except maybe me. The headache you got was the sword basically trying to reboot you. Whatever brought you here to Origin probably wasn't too friendly and the sword was giving you your memories back, but at the same time it seemed to be draining your energy so I put it in a dampening field until we could figure out how to... I guess re-calibrate it so it doesn't drain your energy. It's basically a backup copy of you and when ever anything happens to your body, it saves all of your memories and then uploads them back into your body when you're healed. " Hayden looked concerned for Kaj, something he rarely felt for others, but something about him seemed to bring out Hayden's human side.
"I hope you don't mind me bringing you to my dorm room... and scanning you and your sword. It seems you're not from any of the universes I've documented here, but it's a big multiverse. As for the magic you'd be attuned to, I would have thought fire magic given the heat you put off, but it seems like you're a neutral, meaning you could become very skilled in any if not all types of magic if you trained properly." Hayden smiled at that bit of information, hoping it would cheer Kaj up to know that he had amazing potential.

"A reboot?" Kaj looked at the sword, sighing. "That's a new one." Now he wanted to hug Hayden again but didn't know why. "Why am I even here?" In other words, why was he made? "I can see the magic. I can see strands, almost as if I can grab them." Kaj reached forward into thin air, grabbing nothing. "They told me I was a failed experiment. They wanted to recreate someone, but they failed. But, I guess there are some things worth living for..." Kaj was an empty vessel. Though, what Hayden was saying made sense to him. He barely caught what Hayden said last because he was too caught up in how the scientists showed him how he was unable to have magic. "I can?"
Bringing his hand back to chest level, he opened his hand to see the energy coming up. "I don't mean to seem like a burden. It's just that I've had a... weird day. Besides that, I hope you're still my teacher." He was hoping nothing changed when he passed out. Kaj always overthought things.
"I'd still love to be your teacher, I just hope I can give you the help you need. It might be wise to enroll here as well. Not to mention the Headmaster could give you a good checkup to make sure you're healthy. I could go with you, and I'll see if he will let you move into my dorm here, since the last guy is gone, and I could help you after classes and stuff." Hayden's eyes lit up with the thought of having Kaj here and helping him to reach his potential.
"But for now it looks like you could use a little more rest. I'll be here if you need anything. I'm going to try and figure out if I can fix your sword so it doesn't kill you while giving your memories back." He smiled and went to his gadgets. It was quite the sight to see when he was working. Tools and other high tech stuff would fly through the air right into his hands as he needed them, his nanobots would pour out of his fingers like a liquid and start reprogramming and even rebuilding them to do what he needed them to do. He was trying to build something that could adjust the sword's properties.
"Hmm, maybe it wasn't draining your energy after all. Maybe it was uploading the most current version of you, so to speak, and taking sample so that it had a version of you to upload to you if something happens again." Hayden spoke as the thought hit him out of the blue. "Maybe I shouldn't have put the field around this after all." He pondered. "Do you think I should take it off and let it finish?" Hayden asked as he didn't want to cause Kaj more pain if it wasn't needed.
"So where is the Headmaster exactly? I've only met him once... it was an awkward meeting." His eyes looked at the smooth outline of the sword's sheath. In fact, he never once unsheathed that sword. Kaj was told never to unsheath it. And for good reason. Or, so he was told. "I mean, I don't mind joining..." Kaj was responding in a weird order. "What type of classes are here?" He'd been in classes before. Lots of classes. Though he was partly sure that his type of classes wouldn't be the same here.
Placing his hand on the sheath, Kaj felt the texture. "It holds no magical exertion though... Weird." Any item or person that had any type of magic had some type of exertion. ~It seemed dormant~
Kaj gripped the handle, trying to pull it out. It, however, did not come out. It stayed in. "Maybe it's welded shut?" Kaj thought out loud as he tried to examine the sheath. He stopped when his attention turned back to Hayden.
"Say. Who was the last guy here anyway?" Kaj couldn't help but ask. He wanted to know what Hayden's last roommate was.
"The head master is usually in his office, but he's been really busy lately, so it might be best to wait until morning, I have a free day tomorrow, so I can show you around the campus. The sword holds magic, huh, well you haven't exerted any magic since coming to this world so it hasn't had a chance to absorb any yet... maybe. Maybe the sword is what brought you here and it drained all the power from the sword." Hayden didn't usually like to speculate, but he also didn't like to be wrong either. He wasn't used to not understanding a situation so he did the best he could to conjure a guess.
"My last roommate? He was like seventeen, but he was one of those guys that thought he could take on the world. He went up against his first high level monster and he freaked out and went back home. I think his name was Steve or something like that. So, since we have all night to just chat, is there anything you can tell me about yourself that isn't all sadness and war?" He asked as he stopped working on his machines and laid down on his bed across from the one Kaj was on. He didn't know why, but he wanted to know all about him.
"But yeah. What do people usually talk about? Or, how do your nanobots work exactly? Do they absorb and contain or is it a bit different? Do they record everything, or even save your conscience? Your thinking? Or do they make something more to the degree of a clone?" Kaj's mind was overflowing with questions. He couldn't figure out which ones to ask, or even how to explain how his own life was. His thoughts were no longer on his sword but about Hayden. Kaj felt a bit rude, as he avoided answering Hayden's curiosity because he knew not how to answer.
"Well, my nanobots are kinda special. They each contain a portion of my magic 'exertion' as you called it as well as a copy of my neurological and bio patterns. Every few minutes they update their data as needed. I guess that would be kind of like a clone, though I never really thought of it that way. I mean if I were to get destroyed, I would be uploaded into a band new body. Oh and my favorite colors are blue and also purple. I guess we have something in common, or rather a couple of things." Hayden smiled with a bit of an embarrassed blush.
"But... I... I... What? I was in.. Near... I.... How did I get here?" He pushed himself up to his feet as he looked around, barely registering the two who stood next to him as his breathing grew rapidly more ragged as a cold feeling of panic clutched his heart, threatening to choke his blood within his veins. "Wha... How far are we from Athani? Or... Wolfsbane? Who... Who is the Magos here? I don't.... This wasn't.... The Alovi... I don't understand." He looked down at his hands, it hardly made sense, he had been cold and alone in some distant tower not in this small building, his hands shook as he tried and failed to piece the pieces together of just where he was and how he could have come to be here. What foolish bargain had he made?
He finally decided this was as good a place as any to start his search. He grabbed a tray and picked out some food that looked tasty. He sat down and began to eat. When another student came and sat down across from him Quin took his headphones off and spoke to the boy.
"Excuse me, I'm new here and the Headmaster told me I should try to locate the Rixy siblings, by any chance do you know any of them?" Quin's voice was smooth as silk as he spoke.
"I think I have a class or two with Iziti, or Oculus as most of us call him, but I didn't know he had any siblings. He's the only person with the name Rixy that I've seen here. I think I just saw him down the hall a little bit ago. He's kinda short, really pale, white hair and red eyes... most the time."
"Thank you." Quin said with a smile. He got up and walked down the hall looking for anyone that fit that description. He was just about to give up and go back to the cafeteria again when he turned the corner near the arcade and saw a boy that fit the description he was given.
Quin ran to catch up to the boy, he was with two others and one seemed to look ill. He looked at the one he assumed was to be his roommate. "I'm sorry to interrupt, but by any chance are you Iziti Rixy? If so, I believe the Headmaster wants me to be your roommate." He spoke with his normal lyrical voice.
Kaj was close enough to Hayden for eye level. He wasn't sure what Hayden was thinking. But Kaj did have a certain level of interest towards him. "B-But, I mean. You could just be... doing... something?" He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.
Almost as if they didn't really think it was much to worry about, his character getting sick, Zakar and Iziti began to talk with each other.
"Maybe...time travel?"
"Possible. Hey, dude....wait, they might have used a different calendar where he is from. But, it is a bit odd he knows this little...you think someone teleported him in here?"
"Maybe. Or maybe they just dragged him in. He looks like he went through hell".
"Possible. When I used Examination, I did notice something odd...oh! I just realized it! I know why he is sick!"
"You do?!"
"Its because he probably got given like, twenty billion vaccinations or something!"
"Oh! Yeah! That makes sense!"
It was then at that point that they got interrupted by someone. It appeared to be someone with headphones. As Iziti had yet to deactivate his Teal Oculus, Examination acted upon him immediately.
"Oh, your an alien. I wonder why there are so many humanoid looking aliens?"
"So your finally getting roommate huh? Well, an official one anyways. Isn't Iviri coming to visit soon?"
"...you know, I don't think your grandfather liked it when you slept over those few times".
"...you would think that, but he was perfectly okay with it".
Iziti turned off his Teal Oculus, switching to red eyes. However, they still had that glow, but Quintin had not seen his normal eyes yet so had no way of knowing if it was unnatural.
"Interesting...pairing up someone with sound and someone with sight..."
Zakar looked back at Primaris, and then noticed something. Three larger, older boys ran right past them....completely naked except for their room keys in their hands.
"I don't know any of the places you listed, but they sound super old. Errrr, my name is Zakar Verrevia, Prince of the Rosetta Kingdom. What is your name?"
Hayden turned away feeling really embarrassed now. He thought he had made a real ass of himself. "I'll understand if you don't want me to help you anymore." Hayden had a bad habit of assuming the worst and it didn't even cross his mind that Kaj may have enjoyed it as much as he did.
He put his hands into the pockets of his hoodie as he usually did when he was feeling out of place. When he did he felt something in there that he hadn't put in there. He pulled out a key to the dorm room. "What the...? The Headmaster! That sneaky guy." He looked down at the key. "I guess I could have just looked at the number on the key if I had known it was in there."
He turned back to Iziti. "Oh yeah, my name is Quintin Melotique, but you can call me Quin." He heard Zakar talk to the other boy. "No way, I'm a prince too! I didn't realize I'd be meeting other royalty. I'm the prince of Eurythma, well technically Lennoxia, but that's the ruling continent of Eurythma."
He looked down at his key then to his trunk. "Well it was nice to meet you guys, but I think I should go check out the dorm room and put my stuff away. I'm sure I'll see you guys later." He smiled before going to find the room that matched the number on the key. When he got there he set his trunk down and took out his clothes and put them away in the closet and dresser that seemed to be empty on one side of the room. He found a piece of paper on the empty desk and he picked it up to read his schedule. It wasn't going to be too many advanced classes which Quin was happy with. He was already too late to start on today's schedule so he set it down and put his headphones back on and laid down on the empty bed to relax and recharge his manna.
Kaj tugged on Hayden's arm gently. Now knowing how it felt to be a bit embarrassed. "I guess I know how you feel now." Kaj said quietly as he slowly but surely moved closer to Hayden. "So... what do we do now though?" Kaj was unaware of what would happen next.
It only was after the fact that he even noticed he was being spoken to and even them it came faintly, as though one were trying to speak to him through a wall of water. He could hardly process the world around him, let alone the words caught upon his tongue. And yet, despite the fact his entire mouth had been windblasted from his struggling attempts to breath this most hostile air he finally managed to splutter out something similar to a response.
"I.. I am Primaris Et Primaris, Son of Athani, b.. b.. blessed serf to the Magos Al.. Aliandros... I... I come from Wolfsbane... Please... Where is the Alovai? Who is the Magos in these... these lands? I mu.. must return to... must r-return to my noble master or... or I shall suffer to... too great a torment... to bear."
