Many deadly whirlpools surround a natural, extremely deep cave system, the entrance to which rest on the islands themselves. The caves are in constant stages of being semi-flooded, and are very unstable. One should take caution, for either the flooding or the collapsing walls provide a very real risk to human health if not accounted for.
Here the legendary Pokémon Lugia is said to rest beneath the waves for the brave, knowledgeable or just plain foolish to encounter. Any challenger should come well prepared for an extended bout if they wish to crack its impressive defenses.

Titania sighed. "HM. Hidden Machine. You know TMs, Technical Machines? HMs are the same deal, they contain moves that can be taught to Pokemon for use in combat. Unlike most TMs, HMs are designed for use in the field as well. They're what let your Pokemon carry you across the water with Surf, move boulders with Strength, make travel a snap by Flying back to town, and so on. There's one that let you safely pass through these whirlpools, Sandra. I don't know how you don't know what those are."

Sandra was now even more lost. "TMs? HMs? What the in the bludging feathers are you talking about, mate?? I've lived most of my life out in the wild away from you people...I barely understand how to use a Pokeball!" she explained. "My clothes are a mess! Couldn't you have guessed that??" she questioned.

"Here, Ulysses, swim out and gather as much floating debris as you can. We'll make a raft. Bomber, fly to Olivine and tell the Ampharos at the lighthouse what's going on." A Skarmory issued forth and immediately broke for the mainland.

Sandra gave a slight glare at the woman, doubting that this person would even be of worthy friendship. "Listen here, sheila. While I may not know anything about what you just said, I've seen what modern human life is like. Granted, I know little to nothing about it but I'm not THAT 'primitive' as you might call it. In fact, we stowed away on that ship that perished. We know how to get around!" she then realized what had just slipped out of her mouth. "I-I-I mean...u-uh..."

Ah, Ulysses, good job finding some seaweed to lash this stuff together..." Then the Skarmory returned, shaking its head sadly. "No luck from the mainland either? All right. Here's how this is going to work. I don't have enough for two...can your Pokemon use Fly? If not, take my Skarmory there and head north for the lighthouse. I'll take the water route and catch up to you."
Sandra was a bit shocked. "You can't be serious, mate! Is your Empoleon really that tired? Can't you just ride him back?" she paused. "After all, isn't that how you got here??"

"Now, Bomber! Fly to Olivine City!" Titania was relying on the element of surprise to teach Sandra a lesson. "Ulysses, old buddy, you'd best be ready for a return trip. And after we get back, I know a good pizza place nearby. Fresh cheese and all the Goldeen you can eat. Let's go!"

Sandra held on for dear life as the metallic clad bird took to the sky. "WAAH!!" she screamed. It wasn't that she was afraid of heights but never before had she flown on a Pokemon nor reached such high altitudes. "Stella! Hold on!"
