Delta Nation

"Death is the same for anyone. Young or old, good or evil. Death is impartial. There is no especially terrible death. That's why death is so fascinating. Your deeds, your wealth, your beauty... They are all meaningless in the face of death."

Personality
Delta has a never ending fascination with all things morbid. She's thrilled by the concept of death, and is unusually enthusiastic and cheerful when discussing the subject. She has a very happy, laid back personality and it's extremely difficult, if not impossible, to anger her. With her "go with the flow" personality, she can adapt to change easily, and wasn't at all upset when she was first captured by the zoo, but now that some time has passed she's realized how boring life in the zoo is, and she wants out.

History
Delta's passion for death began the day her father perished. She was 6 at the time, and was the first to discover his body. The cause of death was unknown. He didn't exhibit any signs of bodily injury, and the only thing the tribe could be certain of was that he was very dead. But it wasn't the mysterious way in which he died that fascinated Delta. It was the fact that he was dead in the first place. She didn't show any sign of depression, instead she was thrilled by the fact that just the day before her father had been alive and moving, and now he was simply an empty shell.

Crush
None at the moment.

Delta kneeled directly in front of the glass, a small smile playing with her lips. A cluster of zoo-goers stood just inches from her, seperated by the sheet of glass between them. But her dark eyes did not fall on her observers. In stead her focus was on her task of carving. In jagged slices she cut her name into the glass with a stone. The humans watched in awe as she busied herself with the simple task.

It's funny. They're totally into everything little thing I do. She thought to herself, her gentle smile twisting into something that more resembled an amused smirk. They probably think I'm superior to them. They're probably scared. She connected the arch in the final A in her name with a line through the middle. But just like them I can die. I could die right now. She shivered a little in excitement at the thought as she dropped the stone, admiring her work. It was rough, but legible. She stood, pushing her arms above her head in a stretch and kicking the rock into the enclosure. It skidded forward until it was stopped by a foot. The foot belonged to Alex, who was pacing restlessly. Delta watched him for a moment with dull interest before approaching him.

"Hello." She greeted him, hoisting herself onto a boulder just outside of his realm of movement. She turned away from him and flattened herself out on her back, head hanging over the rock as she continued to watch him move from upside down. "Having fun?"

Alex looked at Delta when the rock hit his foot. He quickly turned to see her laying on the large rock. "No I'm trying to figure out a way of this hellhole, cause I don't know about you but I don't want to die here. " he quickly regretted his words knowing he would get a speech on death or something like that. He looked out at the vast crowd of people staring at Delta's signature, he rolled his eyes and considered scaring them away. He turned away from her and pulled the flower back out he examined it carefully and returned it to his jacket as he noticed the humans turning their attention towards him. He extened his wings and screeched and bared his fangs at the glass causing the crowd to back away.

He turned back satisfied and retracted his wings happily and looked around seeing the other species on display. He saw an elf sulking in a tree and a few werewolves asleep ,he saw one in shackles and waved slightly to her and smiled. He figured if he could just escape or even one of the others they could unlock everyone else and find a way away from this 'zoo' some of the humans did seem to share in their tortured and crushed lives they had been living out.

He was going somewhat insane trying to find a way to get into a peaceful place. He went inside the hut out of view and lied down and cried a bit. He wanted to be away from the humans and everyone he wanted to be alone , he wanted to get far away from this continent, he wanted all of these things but he couldn't have any his only hope was to come up with a plan to escape.

"Die, you say?" Delta perked up. She placed a hand on her hat to keep it from succumbing to gravity. "Personally, I wouldn't mind dying here. I've always wanted to know what death was like, you know? What comes afterwards?" She gasped, eyes lighting up. "Or even better! Nothing! Once you're dead that's it. It's over. Oh, wouldn't that be truly amazing?" She beamed. It quickly became apparent that Alex was not listening as his wings unfurled from his back and he shrieked at the crowd. After pausing to greet a few of the other species with a small wave, the other vampire retreated to the small hut. Delta watched him go before rolling off of the rock, landing on her hands and knees. She stood, brushing her dress off and ambled toward the other side of the enclosure. The side that faced the cage containing the werewolves.

An ivory colored wolf lay by the glass, eyes clearly directed toward the hut Alex had disapeared into. Delta noticed the wolf had etched its own name into the glass. She studied it for a moment. Not as good as mine. She decided. She put on a smile and waved in the direction of the wolf.

Sivian looked up at Delta and cocked her head slighlty. She gave a wolfish smile and then looked into the direction of the hut of Alex, before looking back at Delta. The wolf pulled slightly on the chain and looked at it before sitting up and pinning her ears back. She looked back at Delta and cocked her head, putting her nose against the glass, but she couldn't smell through the glass. The wolf let out a sigh and it looked down.

Sivian looked back up at the vampire and cocked her head again. She looked at the hut of Alex and then back at Delta, cocking her head again. She then looked at her name she had scratched in the glass wall and looked at Delta. She cocked her head and pointed at it with her nose.

Alex sat trying to calm himself. He was figiting him mind slowly deterring. He walked out shaking his arms around himself. He tried to hide himself by walking towards the trees. He sat down at the root and pulled the rose out of his jacket. He smelled it again then smiled again then noticed the group of boy looking at him. They looked much younger maybe ten or eleven , they hissed and snarled then laughed at eachother mocking Alex. He growled and his wings grew, he snarled but the boys continued laughing at him. Alex sighed then walked away and put the rose back. He growled back at the boys then turned towards Delta. "Why are these humans such assholes, wasn't it that they left the island for knowledge. But their dumber than me!" he shouted angrily hoping some of the humans might hear him and his wish was complete as he heard a few mothers gasp as he said assholes and Alex grinned knowing his job was done.

Delta turned her gaze away from the werewolf enclosure at the sound of the hatch snapping open. Expecting to see a lab coat clad scientist entering to take her or Alex away again to prick and poke at them, her eyes were instead greeted with a girl with long ginger hair being forced into the cage. Another vampire?

Alex wasted no time in rushing over to greet her. Delta trudged over as well, just in time to catch Alex introducing them.

"I'm Alex by the way, and that little bundle of death is Delta and what is your name m'lady?" Delta smirked at how he referred to her. She dropped to her knees to get a better look at the girl. Her eyes were a vibrant blue color and she could easily detect fear in them.

"Hellooo~" Delta greeted.

Hailee was suddenly rushed up to by a guy who seemed to be a bit older than herself. She looked up at him. She looked him over and saw that he was also a vampire as was she. He looked very handsome and nice to her "Hey you okay" he extended his hand "They suck don't they. I'm Alex by the way and that little bundle of death is Delta and what is your name m'lady?" He said to her with a smile. Hailee placed her in his softly lightly. As she slowly stood up she replied in a soft shy voice, "My names is Hailee. Its nice to meet you both." She offered them a soft smile as her eyes turned a soft orange for she felt shy and embarrassed at her predicament. "You look scared are you okay?" Alex asked. Funny this guy seemed generally concerned about her. She stared at him as she slowly stood up still holding his hand. "Yea I kinda am...some of the men who brought me here touched me and did scary things." She looked at Delta then at Alex and bit her lip embarrassed.

Suddenly she heard her dad’s voice call “Nadelin! Could you come here please?” Nad growled, considering yelling back she was too busy, but instead shouted, “Alright Dad, coming!” With a final, apologetic glance at the elf she turned and walked to where her dad stood. He was as he had been since he had come to such great fortune; surronded by reporters and pressed from answers from all sides. Just the way he liked.

He stood a short distance from the werewolf cage, a couple of feet at most. This was obviously close enough for the reporters to get some good shots of both the people and massive wolves that were caged behind her father. In addition to the eye popping backdrop, this was directly across from the vampire exibit. Since his recent success her dad was as he usually was; surrounded by a throng of reporters. “What's up Daddy?” she asked him in a chipper voice her had instructed her to use in the face of the cameras. He smiled, putting his arm around her shoulders and pulling her into a sideways hug. Nad squirmed uncomfortably, her perkiness faultering against his side, but his arm held a vice-like grip on her shoulder. Oh boy, here came the "I-love-my-daughter" speech.

“This is my daughter Nadelin,” her father beamed while Nadelin tried to force her mouth into a weak smile. “I do this every day for her. It’s hard sacrificing so much time to my work but since her mother left us everyday life has been hard.” The reporters kept talking and Nad mumbled answers to the few questions in her direction. Finally her dad’s grip loosened enough she could slip out from under his arm. “Hey Dad, I’m going to go get some cotton candy, okay?” Nad said with a most fake cheerful smile she could compose. “Sure dear. Here,” He replied happily, handed her some money. Then Nad turned to walk back to the elf, the smile dropping from her face like a two ton weight.

“And Nadelin,” his voiced called, making her stop in her tracks and turn back around. The false smile had returned as if it had never left. His voice was light but his eyes were stone serious; the way they always got when he was threatening someone. “Stay away from the elf exhibit please sweetie. You’re upsetting it.” Nad’s shoulder’s stiffed but she couldn’t look away from his warning gaze. Unable to avoid defeat she beamed. “Yes father.” Nad chimed, then turned away. Her eyes were narrowed in anger and she slouched a little, dropping her eyes to the pavement. The accursed smile she had worn was gone as well as the faked craving for cotton candy. Instead she walked in the opposite direction, heading towards the “Vampire” cage in an attempt to get further away from her fame-struck father. If his career hadn't eaten all his humanity, his sudden fame was going to finish it off.

Hailee looked at Alex and smiled a bit confused by his joke but understood what he met. She know that he and Delta had been through something similar just like she had been. "Thanks I guess. Well what do you guys do for fun or exercise and stuff?" Being in a tiny crate and cages had made her very restless. She needed to start running or socializing with actual people, not the monsters and evil scary men that brought her here against her own free will. She started to bounce up and down in an eager way to get to start exerting all the anger, fear, hate, and longing to be out. She looked at Alex and Delta hoping they would say yes and give her some good ideas.

"Thanks I guess. Well what do you guys do for fun or exercise and stuff?" The new arrival to the vampire cage asked. Alex responded with a solemn shake of his head.

"As far as exercise goes...this place is a little cramped..." Delta pursed her lips slightly, hand perching on her hip. Her eyes slid toward the werewolf enclosure across from theirs. "But you could always do what that werewolf is doing." She looked back at the other girl, her expression brightening noticeably. "And as for fun, I'm an awesome conversation partner if I do say so myself." She boasted, a broad smile splitting her face.

The sound of the door that lead into the cage unlatching once again interrupted the interractions of the residents of the vampire enclosure. Delta swiveled around to see a scientist enter. In a flash Alex was behind him, pushing the door shut before lunging at him, putting an arm around him to hold him in place, all the while hissing and screaching.

"W-what do you want?" The scientist stammered, a look of horror on his face.

"Get me your leader in the next five minutes or I will not hesitate to kill you." Alex threatened. Delta's eyes flashed with excitement the moment the word 'kill' found its way into the sentence.

"Ooh! This just got really exciting!" She beamed. "Oh, oh! Can I help kill him?"

"C-certainly, Mr. vampire." The scientist agreed. Out of the corner of her eye Delta saw the door to the enclosure re-open and another human leaned in, firing a tranquilizer directly into Alex's neck. As Alex grabebd for his neck both of the humans fleed.

"Come back and fight like a maa..." Before the blonde haired vampire could finish his sentence he wilted into the ground. Delta watched, putting on a look of dissapointment.

"Aw, dammit."

Hailee saw Alex grab the human and threaten him with his life. Then suddenly another human with a gun came and shot a tranqulizer dart into his neck. Hailee then witnessed Alex falling to the ground in a daze. "Alex!" she ran up to him and took the dart out quickly. She held his head up and looked down at him with luminous glowin blue eyes. She looked at him sadly, and took off her jacket which she then proceeded to put under his head as a make shift pillow. She stood up her eyes dark black and she grew her wings. Even though she didn't know Alex or delta that much she knew they were probably to be her new family.

Hailee flew in the blink of an eye she was at the scary hatch clawing at it angrily glaring and hissing at the humans behind it on the other side. She stood at the doorway with her wings spread out high an wide to make herself look bigger even though she was a small girl. She stood guarding the door so no one else could come in without her attacking them. "you assholes leave us be! I swear if I get out of here I'll rip you all to shreds!!" she enunciated the last sentence and the humans who attacked Alex ran off to another part o the zoo like the cowards they all are and always will be.

Alex woke back up a few minutes after he had the dart in his neck. He sat up then looked down his head resting on Haille's jacket. He rubbed his head then looked around. Delta sat dispopointed again and Hailee was scratching at the door as humans fled with terror. He smirked then stood up and put his hand on the angry vampires shoulder. He shook and he looked pale and weak. " You can't get them they have too many tools to keep us in here. " he said in a weak voice. " I'm gonna go lie down for a bit. Oh and thank you Hailee. " he gave her a weak smile then walked to his hommack and plopped down. He saw a few humans by the elf tank and shook his head. "They can love eachother but not us. " he closed his eyes then fell back asleep.

Hailee was scratching angrily at the door as the humans fled like Scaredy cats. Then suddenly she felt a hand on her shoulder and she immediately calmed down when she knew and saw that it was Alexs fingers and palm. She turned around and saw him shaking and paler than usual as he spoke to her softly but weakly,"You can't get them they have to many tools to keep us in here. I'm gonna go lie down for a bit. Oh and thank you." he said shaking. Hailee hugged him and as he started to walk towards his hammock she held onto his arm helping him. He fell asleep on his hammock soundly.

Hailee wandered aoumd and sat facing the werewolf exhibit. She then noticed two humans a boy and girl making their way to it. Sat on her knees and looked sadly miserable at them. She knew the wolves would be set free and not her and everyone else in the terrible zoo. She began to cry softly tears streaming down her face but no sound or whimpering coming out of her mouth. Only tears. Soon a crowd began to crowd around her staring at her and hooting and hollering probably mean things to make her give them more emotion an actual show for them. But fortunately she couldn't hear their insults, the only thing she did see was five guys crowded squatting in the front of the line making gross and sexual things that they wanted her to do. She hissed and cryed more no being able to move from the sorrow and pitifulness she felt for herself.

"Yes please!" Nadelin smiled, absolutely delighted, and took the arm Logan offered. Walking towards the door of the elf exibit's built in lab, so they could access the door to the elf's encloser, Nadelin noticed the werewolf that had been running. She was at it again, running like mad, and unknowingly proving the scientists right. She had heard the quiet talks her father and some of his crew had been having reguarding the running werewolf. "Logan," Nadelin said as they walked, biting her bottom lip, "I'm very worried for that one." She pointed to the werewolf in motion. "I've heard my dad talking to some of his people. They're afriad something is wrong with her. Like she has some form of disease or a rupture organ or something like that that is causing her to run until she passes out." Nadelin squeezed his arm slightly, concern making her vivid gren eyes darken. "They're talking about putting plaster casts on her legs in order to protect her paws. Or disecting her if she doesn't stop, to try and figure out what's wrong. We can't let them do that- it would kill her!"

Nadelin's eyes hardened, a determined look on her face. "I'm going to break them out of here. I've got to do it- I just have to! My dad has the keys to all the enclosers. I'm going to steal them and break all of these semi-humans out of here. Then I'm gonna take them back to where they belong and get rid of all the files on their location! Dad hasn't installed any trackers on any of them yet, they no one could find them again! Then they'd all be safe and free, like they were before we came in the captured them." Nadelin chewed her bottom lip again, which she usually did when she was worried. "But I'll have to do it soon. There aren't any guards at night, just cameras, for now. And I don't think the werewolf is going to stop anytime soon... I'm afriad that if I don't break them out tonight, I'll never be able to help them get home. They'd be trapped here until they die! Or worse..."

Nadelin signed. “Yeah, you’re right. I’m just sort of scared that if we wait too long it’ll be too late, but in the end you’re right. We’d better take this operation slow and steady if we want it to work.” A faint smile returned to Nad’s face and she looked at Logan happily. “I’m kind of glad we’re in the same boat. It’s sort of nice not having to go up against such a big problem all alone.” Nad gave his arm a small squeeze as if to say ‘thank you for being here’. They were mere steps away from the elf’s door when Nad caught the sound of jeering. “Hello, what’s that?” Nadelin muttered angrily, turning around. Her eyes trained on the five mischievous boys who were making rude gestures at a female vampire, who was crying under their inappropriate threats. Well this cruel new form of torchure certainly wasn't the way for the captives to like humans any more then they did currently.

“Oh hex no! I am not going to let this happen! Doesn’t anyone get that they’re suffering enough without all the profanity! C’mon Logan!” Nadelin fumed, furious that they would be doing something so vulgar at the expense of the poor vampires. Grabbing the boy’s hand, Nadelin marched over the five guys. Nadelin’s heart melted at the sight of the vampires who had been reduced to tears, confined in a clear prison and trapped in a strange place with wretch people like those boys. “Please
hang in there just a little bit longer
” Nadelin plead quietly to the vampiress, as if she could hear Nad’s voice. “I promise, I’m gonna get you out of here. Please hang on
” Then she turned her burning gaze to the idiots tormenting the poor girl.

“Hey you!” The boys stopped a moment to turn to the new arrival, the sick grins still on their faces. “Hey! Just what the hex do you five think you’re doing?” “Just looking at the blood-suckers.” One of them replied, and to the side another boy made a sexual gesture, triggering laughs from the rest of the group. “Do you think you’re funny?” Nad fumed, “You’re really going being stupid If you’re going to be retarded, do it somewhere less humiliating to yourself!” “Better watch that mouth chick. You don’t wanna get in trouble with it.” One of the guys sneered and another stepped foreward, gripping Nad’s wrist. “Stop it! Ow! Let me go!” Nad cried, angry and in pain from how tightly he was squeezing her wrist. Jerking her wrist from his grip she stamped on his foot and he yowled in pain whist another boy grabbed her wrists. He gripped tightly, practically crushing them in his hands and making her yelp. “Let go you jerk-offs!” The gang of boys laughed in response to Nadelin’s pain.

After Alex dragged himself to the hammock to rest, Delta watched as Hailee slumped over and began to cry. To add insult to injury, a group of humans outside of the exhibit began making crude gestures toward her. Delta watched as two other humans interviened. The situation worked itself out and Delta was left with nothing to entertain herself with once again. That was the problem with being locked up in this cage. It was boring as all hell.

The dark haired vampiress shuffled to the other side of the enclosure and leaned against the glass, sliding into a sitting position. From where she sat she could see the orc exhibit. There was only one resident of the cage. A towering being who now sat against a tree. She watched him, her interest piquing slightly. She had never witnessed an orc in its natural habitat, but she could recall her mother's warnings about how they were vicious, mindless killing machines. With a neighbor like that, maybe things didn't have to be such a drag...

Alex woke up groggy and tired. He looked up and saw two things that made him want to get out of the cage more. The first was Hailee crying. She felt the pain of the humans poking fun and the constant testing. He wanted to help her but he knew there wasn't much he could do. He was awful with women and always screwed up when talking to them.

The second was when Delta grinned at another enclosure. It was an orc habitat. He looked down at his boots and clicked his heels and a small blade popped out. He was more if kicking than punching so he had a pair of boots made to have a blade hidden in them. Luckily for him it was kept hidden enough for the humans not to notice. He sighed and clicked them back retracting them ,then walked to Hailee. He could at least try " Hailee you okay there " he knelt down beside her.

As Lurbuk paced, he began to feel as if someone was watching him. Not unusual. He was supposed to be watched here. But when he eagerly looked over to the window, there was no one there. He looked around and eventually found that one of the vampiresses in the other cases was staring at him. He walked swiftly over to the window and waved enthusiastically at her, smiling. He would be damned if he didn't take every opportunity in his life to talk, even if it meant not talking to do it.

Delta started as the creature waved vigorously in her direction. She threw a glance over each of her shoulders to verify the wave was directed at her. She turned back to him and beamed, honoured to have such a being even glance in her direction. She scrambled back to her feet, removing her hat and clutching it to her chest as she dipped down in a bow. Desperately she seeked someway she could communicate with him. Her eyes lit up as she spotted the stone she had used earlier to carve her name into the glass. She ran over and seized it before returning to where she was in front of the glass wall. Carefully she scratched a message into the glass, backwards so that it wold appear forward to the orc.

'HELLO! I'M A BIG FAN OF YOUR WORK!' it read.

Lurbuk watched happily as the vampiress jumped. People were always amazed when he acted civilized. It was funny to him. He looked more orcish than human, but behaved more human than orcish. He was glad that it was that way instead of vice-versa. He struggled to find a mode of communication. He looked around the exhibit, but found nothing. So he tried, through extremely complicated hand signals, to ask her her name. It didn't work. When she ran away, he thought that he had scared her off. But to his great relief, she came back with a small stone. She began to scratch the glass. He watched in eager anticipation, slowly reading the words out as they scrawled across the glass. He wouldn't have ever learned to read except for his mother, who made sure to teach him his letters. " 'Hello... I'm... a... big... fan.. of... your... work!' My work? What work?" He cocked his head to the side, trying to figure it out. Well, he had been an assassin before he came, but she couldn't have known about that. Unless she had heard about him. Was that even possible? He held up a finger to indicate to her that she should wait just a second, then went off to find a rock, chuckling to himself. "I've got fans all over the place and I haven't even done anything yet. Hooey, this'll be fun!" He returned to his communication spot and thought. He hadn't written in a while and was having some trouble remembering how to do it. "Ah!" he said as it came back to him. Then he settled in and began to write:

'Hay their! Thanks, but wut work?'
