I heard my mom calling my from somewhere out in the hallway,
"We're going on a car ride!"
I roll my eyes, just how old did she think I was!? Seven?
"Okay!" I shout back, scaring Breakfast.
I walk over to his cage and frown at him, "Oops, sorry buddy." I say, then run out of my room.

I find my mom looking for Cecil, was everyone going on this stupid car ride?
"Where are we going?" I ask, hoping that she wont snap at me for being curious.

Everything's quiet. No one says a word.
I hate hospitals. Too much dying and crying. Everything's too shiny and sterile. Too many fake smiles. Fake smiled right before they tell you your brother died.
"I gotta go." I mumble.
I turn around and walk out the door. I keep walking, speed walking, until i'm outside. Before I know what's happening I'm leaning over and my breakfast is landing in the bushes. I feel hot, steamy tears running down my face. I feel like my face is burning, it's too hot. Like everything's just closing in and I can't breath, I can't do anything but curl up and shake and sob on a hospital curb. Sob for all the birthday parties my parents missed. All the times I was lonely and had no one to go to. All the times I wanted to scream but had to stay prim and proper for fear and creating a scene. All the chances I had to get to know David. All the times I let him just be a stranger down the hall.
People pass by but no one stops to ask if i'm ok. What would I tell them if they did?

I stop myself. I stop the crying and I calm down. Crying makes you vunerable, it means you care. Crying is a weakness and if you're weak in this family you're nothing.

Diane

I let out an irritated sigh, "To the hospital." I answer honestly.
Marrick was... how old? Nine? Ten? Hopefully he would be able to take the news better then I or my other kids had.
"Your brother is gone and now we're going to the hospital to sort things out," I explain a bit better, then turn my attention back to finding my other son.
"Cecil!" I shout, and I see the kid come into view as he walks toward me,
"What?" He growls, an annoyed expression is on his face. I knew that he didnt like talking to me, no one in this family did besides Adam or Elodie... actually, maybe Elodie didnt like speaking to me either... but then again, she isnt exactly part of this family.

"We're going to the hospital." I repeat what I said to Marrick, and Cecil mimics my words in a mocking tone.
Does he even care that his brother is dead!?
Rolling my eyes I grab Marricks hand and half-drag him out the door, Cecil trails behind us.

Cecil

As mom drives me and Marrick to the hospital, I dont say a word.
I think Marrick tried to talk to me a few times, but I wasnt listening so I think he gave up and followed my example of being quiet.
I can see mom in the front seat of the car as she tries to fight back the tears that threaten to spill out of her eyes, and for another time today, im surprised that she actually has human emotions.
"Stop staring at me, Cecil." Mom snaps, "Its rude."

I see mom's Mercedes Benz pull into the parking lot. A shiny, gleaming white sign saying: Look at the luxury I get to enjoy. Haha. You suck, I'm awesome.
She steps out in her high heels followed by Marrick and..? Cecil? Was that Cecil? How the hell did she get him out of his room. He's usually so closed off and anti-social. He's always in his room and...does he even care? About David.
It's then I realized no one else really knew David much better than I did. He was the older brother who listened to music in his room and drove around in his car--alone. Am I even sad about David dying? Or am I sad that my cherished life style will get affected?
No, no I'm sad for David. I'm just more considerate than Cecil.

Not wanting to see mom I run back into the hospital. I can face her later. There's something off though. As I come closer to Vidia and Janai's room I notice a lot of nurses and some doctors rushing around. I notice they're in Vidia and Janai's room.
I catch a glimpse through the buzz and see Vidia's shaking uncontrollably, having a seizure. But where's Janai?
A long horrid, deafening beep is sounding out. There's yelling and then they have those paddle things you see in the TV shows. Something's yelled about a charge and then they shock her. The first time it doesn't work, so they wait a little bit and then try again. The beep is still filling up the room, so they go at it a third time. When nothing changes a quiet hush falls upon the room. Besides the beep it's dead silent. But that damn beep just gets louder by the second. Out of no where a female doctor, maybe in her 30s calls out.
"Time of death 5:37 pm."
Holy shit.
Where's Alexis? I look around but through the crowd of nurses and doctors retreating she's no where in sight. Someone is putting a sheet over Vidia's head. Did Vidia just die? Where the hell is Alexis.
Another doctor approaches me, she's got tan skin, brown eyes, and a wavy chocolate colored ponytail. She's about 40 or so.
"Are you family of Janai?" She asks.
"Yea." I mumble.
"I'm very sorry. She had to be rushed into an emergency surgery, but there was too much internal bleeding and we were unable to save her." Her eyes are filled with sympathy as she tells me.
"Wow." Three dead in one day...

(Well! Looks like this family is just destined for death! D:
Also, I'm sorry for being gone for so long!!)

Cecil

We walked into the hospital, mom had to drag me inside because I honest to God did not want to visit that place.
I hate hospitals.
"Cecil! Can't you behave just once?? No doubt people will be talking about the death of David, I don't need them talking about how horrible of a son you are, too!" Mom snaps, more frustration filled her voice than anger.
"Marrick is being a perfect example, why don't you act more like him?"
I glance at my younger brother, then lower an eyebrow at my mom,
"I don't feel like being a lunatic who talks to birds." I replied, letting out a sigh.
Marrick didn't even seem to hear what I said.

Mom left me and Marrick to wait in the boring little waiting area, I just sat down in one of the rather uncomfortable chairs while Marrick played with the little blocks they had.
Finally, after what seemed like forever, my mom came back with a red face and teary eyes.

"What happened?" I asked, actually concerned.
Mom took one look at me and I realized that a whole lot of stuff must have happened.
"Well?" I prod, hoping that she won't freak out at me for asking.
My mom took a deep breath and did that girly thing where she wipes away her tears but tries not to mess up her makeup, it looks like she's trying to draw wings on her face and it looks pretty weird.
"Vidia... and Janai... they-" Mom paused to take a shaky breath, "They didn't make it."

When she said that, I probably looked like the worst son ever because I honestly didn't do anything.
I just sat there and stared at her with a feeling of shock, disbelief, and sadness.
Three siblings.
Dead.
David. Vidia. Janai.
Holy shit.
I slowly stood up and walked over to my mom, and then I hugged her.

Diane

This was probably the only time Cecil would ever willingly hug me, but I pushed him away and glared at him.
"Don't."
Cecil looked slightly offended but didn't say anything.
"We have to find your sisters," I continued, "Then we'll... I don't know. I'll call your father and then we'll figure everything out."

(Hey! And yesh lots of death >.< xD. Some characters got abandoned and I had to do something with them. And It's fine, I've been gone for a while too xD I've got so much stuff going on)

I see mom walk over and talk to one of the nurses. She doesn't see me, though, but I know when she finds out. She may be cold and pretty heartless but there's no mistaking the look of horror and despair that crosses over her face. She quickly turns away and walks back to wherever she came from, and, surprisingly, I follow. It feels like i'm in a trance. Like I have no clue what the hell to do, but I need to do something, so I follow the one woman I have never followed. At least not since I was like 7.
I stay back a little bit so she doesn't hear me, but eventually she gets back to Cecil and Marrick so I stop and stay where I can see, but not be seen.
She shifts around a little bit and her hand raises to her face.
Oddly enough, Cecil stands and he hugs her. It's sweet for the second it lasts, until mom shoves him away. If that's the same Diane Young i've known for years, she's also glaring.
When she says something about finding sisters and my dad, I step forward.
I walk up behind her and in my shaky voice I speak up, "Mom, I'm here.."
