Sang Royal - Royal Blood.
A Story of Passion, Politics, and Betrayal

Brief background:
A'lea - Once a peaceful world, on which existed two dominant kingdoms: that of Yuol'ina and that of Errachim. The inhabitants of these two kingdoms coexisted in harmony amongst each other, with the common goal of continuing tradition and peace throughout the ages. And so this lasted for thousands of years...

Until recently, with the former Emperor of Errachim assassinated and the Royal Family exiled to a remote region, the new Empire of Traachou has arisen in its place, aiming to conquer the neighboring lands and create a single, global Kingdom under the rule of the new, sadistic Empress of Traachou, Maiyaa Kyeon'an - the daughter of a former member of the Errachen Royal Court.

However, in response to the recent invasion of the kingdom, the Empress of Yuol'ina, Queen Quonya Kuolenya, has announce a full-scale war on the new, offensive Empire. Yet, as years passed, the resources of the Yuol'inan nation have become increasingly scarce, seeming as if the country may collapse as a whole - and yet, the public is ignorant of this fact, constantly being urged by the Royal Court to continue living as they have been before the war.

In the meantime, the exiled Royal Family of the Former Empire of Errachim have established a resistance to the rule of the Empress Maiyaa - creating, in essence, the New Empire of Errachim which stands in the previously uninhabited lands to which the Royal Family and its followers have been sent. Yet, with the limited number of resources and citizens of the land, the new "Empire" is struggling to reclaim the lands which are rightfully theirs.

Seemingly, the victory of the War is increasingly leaning toward the "Dark Empire," and it is only a matter of time before both competitors collapse completely. It is during this time of constant turmoil and chaos that a number of heroes have emerged in order to even the balance of "Good and Evil," but how exactly will the end of this Wartime Era be? Will the ambitious self-acclaimed Empress of Traachou prevail in conquering the world, or will the forces of "Good" triumph and return the world to its previous state of peacefulness? It is up to you to decide...

The World of A'lea:
Image
Individual cities will be described later on.

The Three Empires:

  • Yuol'ina - official name: "The Holy Empire of the Fallen Star (Yuol'ina)," aka "The Holy Empire".
    The Yuol'inan Empire is divided into several individual Provinces, each named by the major city located within them.
    Capital: Yuoja.
    Image

    The second largest kingdom of them all, and also the oldest. The Empress is reaching the end of her long, eventful life and will soon pass her title and all of the lands to her young granddaughter who is not yet deemed "suitable for rule" by public opinion for her lack of political knowledge, experience, and overall ignorance of the events outside of her immediate surroundings. The Holy Empire citizens are now in a period of long, peaceful bliss and a time of economic flourish in which there is little to worry about, despite the fact that there are currently at war with the other kingdoms of the land - the Empress herself says that the war is proceeding finely, and why would the Empress ever lie to the people?
  • Traachou - formerly Errachim (Major) - official name: "United Empire of the Tracchean States," aka "The Dark Empire" - formerly "The United Empire of the Errachen States."
    The Traachean Empire is divided into several individual States, each named by the major city located within them.
    Capital: Paalich (formerly known as Jukkatem).
    Image

    The largest and strongest (military-wise) kingdom, it is ruled by an ambitious and sinister leader who has recently assassinated the former Emperor and exiled his family to the remote lands which are now known as the Empire of Errachim. The leader (whether or not he should be considered an Emperor is up to you guys) aims to conquer the surrounding lands and assimilate them so as to create a single, global Empire under his own rule. Characterized by overwhelming fear, oppression and overall anxiety, the public opinion is under careful scrutiny by the government - free speech is literally nonexistant in this militant nation and any negative criticism made toward the nation is dealt with accordingly. Despite these circumstances, the citizens exhibit a vast amount of pride and honor for their country, and would almost do anything to defend it, even die in battle.
  • Errachim Minor - official name: "The New Kingdom of Errachim."
    This region is occupied by several dispersed villages of citizens. The only major city of this kingdom is the capital, New Jukkatem, named after the old capital of Errachim.
    Capital: New Jukkatem.
    Image

    The smallest and newest kingdom, although technically not a kingdom at all, rather a region to which exiles are sent from Traachou. After being expelled by the new leader of Traachou to a remote, uninhabited region, the former Emperor of Errachim's heir, a young, seven-year-old boy, has established, with the help of his faithful followers, a new kingdom with the sole intention of regaining the lost empire of their forefathers. The virtues of truth, loyalty, and hard-work are what the citizens (in other words, the group of 300-odd people that inhabit those lands) live by. The people live in extreme harmony with one another and it is unlikely to find any disputes amongst themselves due to the hard, almost unbearable, circumstances under which they live. Their pride to their former, and newly established kingdom is what keeps them going on, in hopes of one day returning to their homeland.

Traachou is invading Yuol'ina to which Yuol'ina responds with full warfare. Errachim Minor is attempting to establish a resistence/revolution to overthrow the "evil dictator" of Traachou and take back the lands which are rightfully theirs. Although Errachim Minor has asked Yuol'ina on many occasions for both financial and materialistic aid, the Empress has declined due to the fact that they are indeed failing in both of those areas; despite public opinion that Yuol'ina is winning the war, Yuo'lina is in fact struggling to defend itself from the massive invasion from its neighboring empire.

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby reticulated99 on Sat Oct 18, 2008 10:18 pm

Thought it might be fun to play someone who really is evil and not just misunderstood.

* Name: Jen'jidai Ma'vet V'Hazak (ZHEN-jid-eye MAH-vet Vuh-ha-ZAK)
* Age: 32
* Gender: Male
* Race: Human, with an indeterminate portion of direct demonic ancestry
* Physical Description: Image
* Personality: Although he looks near-angelic, behind his charming demeanor lies a sadistic mind convinced of its superiority over all others, the kind that tortures not just prisoners, but also those who think they are his friends. He respects only those few who can see through the illusion; these, of course, are mostly others like himself. Of course, Jen'jidai is careful to conceal this unless it's already too late for his victim or he recognizes a kindred spirit...
* Alliance: Traachou
* Title: Commissioner of Public Safety; this is a more or less nonexistent job, and Jen'jidai is in reality the head of Traachou's intelligence service.
* Weapon(s) of choice: Two of these; also, a variety of nasty barbed knives, hooks, and so on, which he doesn't have on his person; they're for use on prisoners only. One sword is coated in a paralyzing, nonlethal (but very painful) venom so that he can have more fun with his conquest later; the other is coated with a potent hallucinogen so that he can have more fun playing with his opponent during a fight. Something about his demonic ancestry makes demons drawn to him like moths to a flame; minor demons always hover about him, invisible except to trained magicians. More powerful entities can be attracted by strong emotion; by carefully modulating what he feels and how much, Jen'jidai can sometimes call them to his aid. This is of course unpredictable, and requires rigid control--a strong enough burst of uncontrolled feeling could call something large enough not to notice it was eating him. Image
* History/Background: Little is known and less is understood of how the demonic entities of other planes manifested themselves in Jen'jidai. His mother was definitely human, but who--or what--fathered him remains unclear. Prior to his birth, his mother was abducted by a cult, and gave birth just a few days later, while still in captivity. When the rescue party arrived the next day, they found the cultist's hideout totally empty, save for an ugly baby chewing his toes and cooing to himself. Over the years, Jen'jidai grew less and less ugly on the outside, while always carefully hiding his true evil from others. Whether it was playing pranks that got his playmates hurt, stealing things and successfully pinning the blame on others, or the "accidents" that occasionally befell those close to him, his one hidden goal was to control everything he could, and to destroy everything he could not. As he grew older, he began to recognize this consciously--then he became truly dangerous. His connection to the demonic planes first manifested during puberty, when an imp appeared while he was alone with a girl. He was so startled, he dropped the knife he was about to plunge into her back. Since then, he has mastered--as much as it can be mastered--the art of bringing, controlling, and tolerating his relatives. Prior to the assassination of the Emperor, he laid low, working far from scrutiny to bring pain to whomever he could, though he was known to a select few who shared many of his aims (necromancers, anarchists, and such). Though it was unintentional, his works did much to destabilize the Empire, and when the plot to have the Emperor killed was hatched, he was brought in to offer advice. Though he had no hand in the execution of the operation, he provided useful information through his extraplanar connections; combined with his obvious talents for manipulation and dissimulation, this led to his being offered the post of Commissioner of Public Safety after the rise of Traachou. Seeing an opportunity to spread misery on a truly grand scale, he accepted--of course, he is also actively working to make the entire government into his puppets through whatever means are available. Jen'jidai is also largely responsible for the atrocities of the Arena, and is still quite interested in the whereabouts of an escapee named Xaul--he didn't quite finish with him. Over the years, his features have grown progressively more angelic; the only hint of otherworldliness now is in his pointed ears and glowing green eyes.

Welcome, Jen'jidai! I enjoy your character very much, actually. :-) It's nice to have a true evil character once in awhile. haha
Now, if you could, please post your character profile in the respective profile thread!
Thanks in advance!

Re: SangRoyal-Royal Blood (OOC & Sign-ups!)

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby xXSakuRADroPSXx on Sun Oct 19, 2008 9:49 am

Actually, I was going to go ahead and see if anyone had any ideas concerning the plot.

First of all, the whole story is going to be revolving around the time of war. I think that the war should have been going on for a either 6-12 months or a number of years (2-4 preferably). How long the war has lasted until the start of the RP is up for discussion, because the Traachean Empress is only 19 years old, so I think that making the war last for too long before we actually start would make it seem a little awkward for having, essentially, a child assassinate an Emperor - but maybe that's just me.

Anyway, as of right now, I have a vague idea of how the story will end, but I'm not entirely sure how it's going to work up until then.

I would like to know if you guys have any individual storylines for your characters that should be included.

For my characters, obviously the Queen is going to die one way or another (preferrably halfway through the plot). I think it would be better if another character kills her - someone from Traachou after a large-scale siege on the capital of Yuol'ina (Yuoja) would be most fitting.

I think Rapaj may develop some sort of attraction to his charge (Nicchi) that grows stronger and becomes more apparent as the story progresses, but that is forbidden according to his Code, making his feelings and rules contradict one another, causing a personal conflict within him.

Also, the New Errachim Emperor, whose hand is being held by his mother and Vizier, could sucessfully conquer some lands of Traachou, causing his Army to creep slowly through the Dark Empire (but also include a number of losses, so that it's a little bit more dramatic) on the way to the capital, but I'm not sure whether or not he should succeed in reaching the capital or not. I think it would be interesting if he found himself at a standstill somewhere near the capital, causing his forces to stand their ground and try to avoid casualties at all cost. Personally, I believe the Vizier should be killed, either during battle or by a spy/assassin, causing the whole struggle to reclaim the lands of the old Errachim to fall upon the shoulders of the young Empire. This all would occur throughout the duration of the plotline, not only in successive events.

Somehow or another, Xaul and Rapaj will meet up and, after a very heated discussion, join Nicchi and Rapaj's quest - whatever that may be.

I think it may be interesting to see the Princess (and maybe her entourage) run away from the capital and, in essence, the Kingdom of Yuol'ina as a whole, trying to escape the burden that is Queendom (making their quest to be basically to run away from everything and avoid detection). This would also further serve as a personal conflict in Rapaj, because his emotional attraction for Nicchi is affecting his role as Guardian to the Heiress - where he shouldn't let this happen, but he compromises his moral attachment in order to let his feelings develop even stronger.

It also would be interesting if the Queen was killed while Nicchi was away, making the kingdom of Yuo'lina under Maiyaa's rule for a period of time.

Then maybe Nicchi would develop some sense of personal vengeance toward the Traachean Empress, causing her and her group to return to her homeland and infiltrate the capital palace, causing a number of fights amongst the major characters of the two opposing Empires to ensue - with the final one between Nicchi and Maiyaa.

The ending of the fight is up to you guys - would you all prefer a "happy" ending, where Maiyaa is killed, and the lands are once again divided between the two Empires (or maybe even one, depending on whether or not the Errachen Emperor would be alive at this point - OR if Nicchi doesn't succeed in killing Maiyaa, perhaps having the Errachen Emperor successfully invade and conquer all the lands - first would be the old Errachim, of course, and then Yuol'ina, making the Child Emperor the single ruler of the lands?) - or a "bad" or "sad" ending, where everyone dies except for the bad people, causing the world to fall into complete chaos and despair as Maiyaa is the sole Empress of the lands? Either one is equally dramatic in my opinion, so I'm leaving it up to you guys to decide.

There's a poll now deciding how the story should end.
Happy Ending #1 is the first option, meaning that Nicchi kills Maiyaa and all the lands return to their rightful owners, causing the whole world to live in peace and harmony once again with one another.
Happy Ending #2 is when Nicchi is killed, leaving the young Errachen Emperor to kill Maiyaa and take over all the lands, having one single Emperor of A'lea.
or Sad Ending, where both Yuo'lina and New Errachim fall, causing Maiyaa to be the ruler of the world, ending the story in complete chaos and emotional despair for every inhabitant of A'lea, except, of course, for Maiyaa.

So...what do you guys think? Any takes on how the story should develop?

Personally, I have to say that I would find Happy Ending 2 a pretty sad ending in certain circumstances. One single Emperor who's barely 20 at most, ruling the entire world, is a recipe for disaster. I think I favor the sad ending, but not ending there. There's so much potential for more RP within Traachou with the survivors duking it out publicly and behind the scenes for control, new characters possibly being disillusioned with their lack of freedom--it could go full circle and be brought down from within a considerable time after Traachou's apparent victory. Maybe a spinoff once this one ends? I dunno, but I think that'd be interesting.
Also, of course, I have the subplot with Jen'jidai hunting Xaul, so if Rapaj and Nicchi go on the run and Xaul hooks up with them, there'll be people from both sides chasing them.

I like that idea. haha
Actually, a sequel may actually end up particularly interesting here.
With an evil dominion established across the globe, could a rise of new, optimistic heroes take down the new Empress? Maybe this could take place in a time many years after Maiyaa is declared official ruler of A'lea (like 20-30 years in the future)? Seeing how the majority of the characters in this story will undoubtedly be killed - except for maybe a select few who were able to save themselves - it would seem like the original, canon characters (if I may be so bold as to consider origninal characters of this RP "canon") would serve as secondary characters in the new story, almost like guides for the new, rising heroes.
It just makes me tingle with excitement when thinking about the possibilities of such an intricate plotline. :lol:

Then we ought to get along--this is how I think in terms of RP. I got into RP through playing in a persistent universe, and that's still going over a year later. The cast of characters has changed some, but it's all one long continuity with no real end in sight.

As for Aahra's storyline, she's obviously going to be in denial, but I'm not exactly sure how she's going to deal with it. Her father was a soldier who died fighting for the Errachen Empire, which doesn't exist to her anymore. She blatantly not pleasing her father, and fighting to destroy what he fought so hard to protect. I'm not exactly sure how she is going to end up coping with it. I thought about having her just remain in denial, and fight until her death for the evil Traachean Empress. I could see Aahra be willing to ignore the wishes of her father out of pride for a woman in such a position.

I also thought about having Aahra sacrifice herself for the benefit of the Errachen Empire when they invade, or possibly just lose battles purposely. More interestingly, I considered having her just betray Traachean in a bit of treason. Having her completely switch sides seems a bit too much, but depending on the storyline it could be possible. I'm not sure yet...

reticulated - I agree. Long-lasting RPs (almost seemingly never-ending ones) are alot more fun than those that just end and you just wind up with the fleeting sensation of gratification knowing that the story was finished, but you soon get to wondering, what would happen if the story continued?
I hope that that question is one which will entice quite a bit of speculation regarding this RP, because even spin-offs have their own sense of originality that just makes the experience of RPing all the more exhilirating - regardless of the cynics who believe that stories should remain as they are and that it is sacrilegious to continue a story after it's end. Anyway, that's just my own take on the matter.

morrigan - I think that having your character experience some sort of epiphany near the end of the story would serve as a great dramatic element (even more so if she realizes how she is, in essence, "destroying what her father worked so hard to protect" and sacrifices herself during battle). Personally, I think that making your character lose battles would come off as cowardice and having her defect would seem a tad wishy-washy, but that's just me.

Anyway, I'm planning on going on and starting up the IC soon. I'll just have the remainder of characters set as NPCs (including the Errachen Emperor), and, if anyone would like to join mid-RP, they are more than welcome to do so, so long as it doesn't interfere with the storyline as it is.

Well, in reference to Xaul, i totally love this idea, and think that perhaps Xaul could meet up with the duo in the wild? Also, i was toying with the idea of having Xaul break into either Nicchi's or Rapaj's personal quarters for a little heart-to-heart with his brother. I totally agree with reticulated that #2 is not going to end well.

For a sequel, I was thinking happy ending #1, and have Traachou absorbed into Yuol'ina, with most of the citizens resenting it. years later, a war would start between Yuol'ina and Errachen, a war started and fueled by the actions of operatives of Traachou. These operatives could even infiltrate the two governments, and pull off silent coups. Thoughts?

That's another great continuation. I can totally see Jen running for it once the SHTF for Traachou, gathering up some of his old operatives, and going at it.

Also, i was toying with the idea of having Xaul break into either Nicchi's or Rapaj's personal quarters for a little heart-to-heart with his brother. I totally agree with reticulated that #2 is not going to end well.

For a sequel, I was thinking happy ending #1, and have Traachou absorbed into Yuol'ina, with most of the citizens resenting it. years later, a war would start between Yuol'ina and ERRACHIM, a war started and fueled by the actions of operatives of Traachou. These operatives could even infiltrate the two governments, and pull off silent coups. Thoughts?

I like it. We can work out the details as we move along.

And concerning the sequel, I don't necessarily think that having a child monarch equates directly to failure. King Louis XIV of France was technically enthroned at age 5 (with, of course, his trusty advisor Cardinal Mazarin as the real power) - and that didn't really end up in disaster... :?
Anyway, I just threw that option out there as sort of an alternative to the normal, cliche endings that so many stories have. I like either possibility for a continuation of the plot after the end of the War.
It's nice to brainstorm collectively, though - it's amazing to hear all of the different suggestions.

I know we can't force someone to do what they don't want to - I'm merely putting out suggestions. We haven't even started the story yet, so there's no harm in stating what one would prefer to happen, ya know? If there are any differences of opinion concerning my suggestions, I'm more than willing to discuss them - I'm not setting everything in stone, I just like to have a steady idea of how the story will unfold before rushing in head-first.

And I'm currently working on the IC - there is quite a bit of setting introduction, so bear with me here, please! ;-)

So...since the former Empress of Errachim will most likely be vanquished in the process...could I play a general in the Errachim army or something so my RPing wouldn't be permanently terminated? (1. I would play the child emperor, but conversations with myself I don't really like, 2. I don't RP children very well. :3 Anyone else is highly welcome!) I think I'm the only person affiliated with Errachim. >.>

Hey, SakuraDrops, you should know who I am! Hint: We go to school together. We need to talk so I can bounce my ideas off of you. Vettvyer: I'm planning on taking over the wittle Emperor, so no worries there. And some sort of military figure of New Errachim too! So there's two of us now! =D

Maybe. If I can ever get in touch with SakuraDrops. *sigh*

:-P
Yeah, you're more than welcome to have more than one character!
Just be aware that the max is three per RPer.
You can post your other character profile(s) here so that I may look over it/them.
And hey there, KattyKit...which is quite confusing, seeing how there's already a Kittycat. hahahaha

Anyway, you can post your character profiles whenever you decide to.

Well, call me Kat! And I am the one with the angel avatar. I'll have to smooth out some wrinkles first.

Hey! Thought I would introduce myself first, so you can simply call me by Ex, as it's what I'm used to being called online. Anyway, I'm going to try to have a skeleton up for one of the Yuol'ina generals by the end of tonight, as soon as I finish reading all the information.
