|| In the Name of Love || Nightcore ||
Clover lay on her stomach across from Erika on the bed. The human was taller than her, as humans generally were. Her size was still strange, being able to lift things with fingers instead of her mouth was even stranger. There were so many little nuances to being a human that Clover still did not understand. The kitten tilted her head, tail swishing as she watched Erika think. For a moment, Clover was enraptured by her fingers; as a kitten she had often chased Mama or the Mage's fingers as they wiggled playfully across various surfaces. Now, however, she was far too large to chase fingers and the thought almost made her sad. No longer would she be able to enjoy cat trees or gnawing on a barn of Mama's yarn.
Erika's eyes narrowed, she declared that she would take it upon herself to teach the kitten to read and write. "Mew?" Clover tilted her head to the side cutely, her ears twitching at every sound. The kitten sat up, nodding. She wasn't completely illiterate, Clover could read and write enough to recognize her name. Did Fiyero know how to read and write as well? Was he a servant? Was Eamon a servant too? And that woman, were they all underlings to human Erika? Her new human must have been very powerful indeed, if she had all of these people to serve her. Or perhaps that was just a cat's way of thinking, to believe that the world revolved around a singular person.
Clover sat up when Erika began to speak of her sister, saying that she was sold to someone else. Hopefully it was not the vet! To her relief, it seemed that her sister was sold to someone called Bernards. "Y-yes! Maple is...worried!" Clover nodded, glad that Erika would take her to visit. No doubt Maple was just as worried about Clover as Clover was Maple. Human Erika reached forward, stroking her hair once more. Clover purred, leaning her head to better receive the scritches, her tail swishing happily. A knock at the door sounded, sending the kitten on edge. She hissed, hiding behind Erika, but it was just human Eamon. Relaxing once more, her tail took up its fervent swish, her tummy making gurgling sounds.
"Food?" She inquired, following Erika down the stairs to a new room. The house was vast, with plenty of hiding spots and expensive looking pieces of art. Clover marveled at the grand arches and large windows until they reached a dining room. The smell of food was tantalizing; in this body, her tongue seemed capable of tasting much more than just one or two flavors. The fancy cat food her Mage used to prepare her, with its brews to keep her kitten sized, no longer tasted good. There were more humans gathered there, that woman and a man now too. Fiyero winked, his hands tucked into the robes he wore. A hand reached out to touch her hair, the human woman that had come to see Erika from before stroking her head.
