Khyria and Fiyero stayed up the entire night with Clover, holding her down in order to stop her from scratching at herself. Khryia whispered encouraging words while Fiyero did his best to read though Clover's alchemy books to try and find something that might stem the pain. In the end, they were left holding and rocking her as the miasma left her body, leaving the kitten shaky and weak. She sobbed from the pain, at last able to form intelligent thoughts. "It's okay," Fiyero soothed, rubbing her sweaty hair off of her forehead. He lifted Clover up, Khyria unlocking the door so that they could carry her into the main building of the Spiderweb. Mallier was waiting for them, a room already set up. "Shh, it'll be alright, the pain will go away soon." It was hard to breathe, it was hard to think, the anxiety and fear had returned full force on top of everything, sending her into a panic attack.
It was a bit of a search before they could find something that could help, using a combination of herbology and alchemy to make a tea that soothed the nerves and would help the pain. Clover fell right to sleep afterwards, exhausted from spending the night screaming. Mallier, their substitute doctor, bandaged the scratches on Clover's chest and examined her to see what state the miasma had left her body in. As it turned out, it had reeked havoc, it was no wonder Clover was in so much pain. Her lungs weren't expanding properly, her nerve endings were fried, the walls of her heart had thinned, and her kidneys and liver had stopped working completely. Had another day gone by, the miasma surely would have killed her.
"Welcome back Master!" Khyria chirped when Erika had at last returned. She ran over, giving Erika a great big hug. Maple was still shaking, traumatized from losing her sense of smell. She would have preferred to lose anything else, her sense of taste, touch, why, she'd even rather that someone cut off her cute tail! Anything but this! "My sister," Maple wanted to know, backing up the question Erika had asked that Khryia was trying to avoid. "Where is she?" Maple tried to stop shaking, she needed to appear strong if she wanted to go see Clover. "Asleep," Fiyero answered for Khryia as he and Eamon entered to greet them. Eamon ran to greet his Mother and Sister, Theo too, coming to greet them all. They were in a sorry state, their motley crew alive, but disheartened from having lost so much.
"Erika," Fiyero said seriously, "it isn't good." Under normal circumstances, miasma would cling to mana nodes, which would eventually clog them up and kill the mage. Clover didn't have mana nodes, therefore, the miasma had clung to her organs, attempting to do the same thing it would to a mage. "You should go to her," for now, they were letting Clover sleep, but it had been days. They could do nothing but give her that tea to soothe the nerves, which made the kitten dizzy and sleepy. She wouldn't touch food, she could barely handle getting out of bed to use the bathroom on her own. Maple's eyes widened, she ran off to find her sister, bursting into the darkened bedroom where Clover was curled up on the bed, looking pale. "Clover!" Maple ran over, her sister's eyes opening to see who was there.
"Maple," Clover smiled, her tail swishing weakly. She struggled to sit up, coughing. "No, don't move, it's okay," Maple knelt down, holding Clover's hand. She rubbed their cheeks together, noticing the strange machine connected to Clover. The condition Clover was in was livable, fortunately, it would just mean getting used to this different way of life. Clover was permanently weakened, whether she would regain full function was debatable, but it would take time and patience. "Clover missed Maple," Maple teared up, wishing she could smell Clover's comforting scent. "I missed you too you dummy."
