But the mention of Ray and his arrival just snapped her back to reality. She couldn't dwell on those thoughts. Viv and Ray were still together, and that was all that mattered. Georgie didn't even try and force a smile as her and Ray locked eyes for just a moment. There seemed to be more animosity than usual in his eyes, and she just raised an eyebrow, ever so slightly, as the door shut behind them.
She tried to get some work done, but her mind kept drifting back to that morning and to Ray. She wondered if Ray had an issue with her and Hayley, or if it was just Ray being Ray. She kept wondering what she should do about Hayley. She kept getting stuck on Viv and not wanting to move on. But, eventually, she decided to just text Hayley and ask her to dinner. She needed to get over Viv, she reminded herself, one way or another. And Hayley knew that Georgie was trying to get over someone else, so everyone's feelings were out in the open. She was cool, she was funny, and she was hot. So Georgie texted her, asking her out for dinner.
She wasn't sure if Viv and Ray were back by the time she was ready to leave, so she just scribbled a note and left it on the counter to say she was gone out and would probably be late back. Dinner was nice, a welcome distraction from her day and from the thoughts that kept buzzing around her head. She ended up going home with Hayley, the warmth of the wine they'd had with dinner still buzzing through her system, managing to actually forget about Viv and Ray for a few hours.
