To put it bluntly, Isabella can absorb information rather quickly through touch at an accelerated pace, she mostly uses this on papers, books, and other forms of information, but she is occasionally able to use this on another being, but it's rather tricky.

To do this, she must have physical contact with the object, and the amount of time and energy spent on doing so depends on what she's exactly trying to take in. For just a sheet of paper with notes it would take a matter of seconds, but for a thicker textbook, it could take from 30 minutes to an hour. As said before, she is able to use this on a person, but not just anyone. The other person, or being, has to be one of three things; trusting of Isabella, not on edge, or vulnerable, all of these lowers the subjects guard and makes it easier for Isabella to get a read on them. But it's not just the ability to read someone and see what they are lying, but more so to feel their intentions, though sometimes it's hard for Isabella to understand the feeling she is getting.

Also, when using her arcane ability, two eyes appear on her hands. These eyes stay on her hands during the usage as well as a little bit afterwards, sometimes for an additional 30 minutes.

Walking into a room, Isabella is use to drawing eyes to her, thanks to a few obvious characteristics of her appearance. The first thing that tends to pull the eyes towards Bella is her height, a couple inches taller than the average height for a female, paired with her heels she is seen wearing on most days. Along with her height, Isabella wears her fire ginger hair with pride, rarely seen wearing it up and loving to flaunt it around. Paired with her red hair, Isabella's face is scattered with small freckles coming off, one of the few reasons she doesn't wear much make-up, along with believing she doesn't need it. There is more than just her long legs and red hair. Bella tends to keep a rather stoic look on her face, one she's practiced and worn for years, having it show beauty with the look of minimal effort and only saving her smile for when it's truly needed.

Isabella's fashion seems to be more towards the high-end, usually being dresses or feminine outfits. This always matched with a pair of heels, Isabella loves the sound of them clicking on hard floors to announce her arrival. She was brought up in a very strict household and raised to embrace her feminine features as well as acting lady-like, so she isn't seen often in low-end or casual clothing like hoodies or sweats. As her mother use to say. "Baggy clothing doesn't draw the eyes of your next suitor honey."

As for scars, markings, and tattoos, Isabella's skin is free on them. She believes she shouldn't be branding herself with temporary ideas that remain on your body longer than the want for them settles in one's mind, often put off that some people would be dumb enough to get one. As for scars, her brother works as Dr using his arcanes to treat wealthy celebrities as well as keeping their family beautiful and scar free.

P E R S O N A L I T Y:
Isabella’s personality comes off very strong to the people around her; a little bit prestigious, a little bit overwhelming to some, and a little bit of a bitch to others. This was all brought up by her family name. Vayne. She was raised to believe that her name is something to be proud of, and she continues to believe that now. When meeting someone, she isn’t afraid to throw out her family name so people know who she is, and continues to act better than them, often talking about herself and not really caring about what they were saying, unless it helps further herself. Isabella tends to also be a bit bossy to others and puts herself ahead of them, thinking (knowing) she deserves more than them because of her last name, and a bit of her beauty.

Along those lines, Isabella was brought up to be very much a lady and holds being lady-like as personal value of hers. In the Vayne house-hold, all females were required to be lady like, ever being taught out of Emily Post’s book of Etiquette, and with her powers, Isabella was able to absorb and put this information into work rather quickly. But, even thought Bella can be well mannered and know her etiquette, she follows her own bit of rules at times and it doesn't keep her from being passive-aggressive towards others at times.

But after a bit, people who tend to be regulars in Bella’s life and environment, they will learn there is a bit more to her than being better than others and at times bossy. If you do somehow end up on her good side, she is slightly more kind to them, but still throwing out the sarcasm and minor insults, but now throw around with a bit of love and friendship.

Speaking of love and friendship, Isabella can be flirtatious when the time calls for it, often using her looks and charm she learned from her mother to get what she wants. She loves flirting, regardless of the gender or sexuality of the person, and enjoys seeing their reactions. Though she is known for keeping a few hookups more often than not saved in her phone for when she's bored or needs to throw off steam.

Q U I R K SXA N DXO D D I T I E S:
Despises tap water, drinks mostly sparkling water
Vegetarian
Worms on a string - Loved these toys since she was little and usually always has at least one on her at all times. Gets defensive when called out about them.
Ambidextrous
Doesn't workout besides cardio/running
Always has a ear bud in her ear, either playing music or podcasts

F E A R S:
Heights - Had a bit of a scare when she was younger, hanging around with her brothers on a family trip and almost ended up falling into a canyon, luckily her brother’s magic was able to save her, but it’s a memory that’s nestled deep into her mind.

Failure - While everyone fears letting people down, she thinks if she doesn’t follow in her parents, family, foot steps, she won’t be successful like them. Though she doesn’t worry about this often as she hasn’t let them down yet.

The Vayne family might not mean much to the normal every day person, but to many Alumni of Cascadia and other members of the arcane community, the name is known, though not always reacted to the same way. Isabella comes from a long lineage of arcane gifted users, and only arcane gifted users. If a someone was born with the Vayne name, but developed no arcane abilities, they were quickly stripped of their name and thrown out, but this hasn't happened in many years. The Vayne family name would only interact with other arcane families, keeping their social circle rather tight but their names well known to others. These families would often marry their daughters off to other powerful families to strengthen their bonds as well what they believes was keeping the arcane bloodline pure.

Isabella, and her three siblings (an older brother, a younger sister, and a younger brother) were born to Octavius and Arabella Vayne. From their young age, the Vayne children were taught their family history as well as the history or arcane users, given the believes that those were arcane powers were strong, and those who kept stuck closer to other arcane users stronger. But even though they were taught they were stronger and better than others, doesn't mean they had an easy life growing up. Now it wasn't they had to struggle for things, no most things they wanted they were given, but within the household, they all had a strict regime to keep and rules to follow. If these rules weren't followed to their parents' tee, it wouldn't be long before the rule breaker would be quickly disciplined, usually with physical violence from Octavius.

All of the Vayne children's powers began to show at a young age, Isabella's shortly after she learned how to read when her mother noticed the eyes on her daughter's hands after being handed a book and Isabella being able to recite the information from it. The main downside to her abilities her parents found was how it could be easily noticed by the eyes that would appear on her hands and had talked to many experts about it, but there was no cure, so they made sure their eldest daughter was taught to be more careful of her powers than her siblings.

Isabella went to mostly private schools growing up for arcane children. , usually having to stay in dormitories during that time as these schools weren't as spread out like name schools. And within school easily kept high grades since it was easier for her to "learn" since she could just absorb the information, and with her families name and wealth, she and her siblings were able to get away with a lot more than the other arcane children. Shortly before Bella graduated from high school, her parents offered her a choice in the next step of her life; go to Cascadia College like many Vaynes before her, enrolling in a major and minor that would carry something with the Vayne, or marry the son of another arcane family and strengthen their alliance with the other families. Isabella quickly took the first offer and began preparing to go to Cascadia College for Criminal Justice, her parents hoping to establish Isabella as successful attorney.

It wasn't long until Bella started at Cascadia and doing well in her first year and getting to know not just the campus, but the beings that also walked the campus. She didn't really associate much with the "normal" human students of the campus as the arcane society wasn't exactly a talked about subject, plus she thought of herself better and held the opinion that Cascadia should only be open to the arcane and no one else, an idea that was instilled in her head by her family as well as shared among some others. But along the way she was able to make connections with some people, a few 'friends' here and there, and manage to upset a quiet a few people that she either didn't agree with or thought weren't worth her time.

So begins...

xxxit always seems to slip away
xxxi’m taking back what’s mine
xxxwhat is left stays here
xxxto haunt you
Honestly, Hatch was surprised it had taken her housemates a full two weeks to throw a party. She’d been in desperate need of a release, and she’d been around for a week longer than most of them. But then again, she reminded herself, her housemates seemed to have a slightly better relationship with their families than Hatch did. Classes had only been back a week, and that was probably the most stressful thing most of them wanted to escape.

Hatch had left it until the last minute to leave to go home, and she’d come back as soon as possible. And even then, the few weeks she’d been home had been insufferable. Her oldest brother had announced his engagement, which had just resulted in more boring parties with her parents, where she was expected to drink wine and make polite conversation and wear a dress that made her look like every other businessman’s trophy daughter. Her father’s latest attempt at setting her up with some nice businessman’s son had backfired, even if the conversation had lasted a full ten minutes longer than usual. Her parents had spent the time they weren’t gushing about her brother and how wonderful this was for the family making strained conversation with Hatch about college. Her mother had brought her shopping, which had been an ill-fated attempt at converting Hatch to a more “appropriate” style of dressing. Hatch had, at least, gotten some new shirts out of it.

So when her housemates had suggested a party, Hatch had nearly fainted with relief. She’d gotten the word out among her friends and had even helped decorate a bit. They’d told everyone to bring their own drinks, but still had a ready stash of spirits and mixers, just in case, and had plenty of food to go around. They knew nobody was coming for the food, but also knew that it would be appreciated. Especially by whatever dumb freshmen would probably show up on an empty stomach. It always happened.

But It almost seemed like everybody had forgotten the events that had gone down shortly before Christmas. It seemed to just be another one of those events that was hot on everybody’s lips for a few weeks before fading into legend. Of course, a student being found dead on campus seemed to deserve a slightly more prominent place in everyone’s mind. Especially when it was clear they were murdered. The police were still around, asking questions, and there was a much tighter security presence on campus after dark. But if they hadn’t gotten the answers they needed before Christmas, they more than likely weren’t going to get the answers they wanted now, and the event had turned into a source of gossip.

“I heard he was in trouble with a gang,” one of Hatch’s roommates declared from where she lay on Hatch’s bed. Hatch raised an eyebrow, glancing at Lotta. “Drugs, guns, the whole thing.”
“I heard it was a cult.” Francis appeared from nowhere at Hatch’s door.
“A cult, Francie? Really?” Hatch laughed, leaning in to finish applying her lipstick.
“Yeah. Satanists.”
“Pretty sure his death wasn’t ritualistic enough for it to be a cult,” Lottie remarked.
“He pissed them off and they snapped. James says a senior approached him and tried to talk him into going to some service and then when he refused, the guy got really pissed off. He definitely seemed capable of murder.”
“Or, you know, it was just a mugging,Hatch remarked, raising an eyebrow and turning around to face them and taking a sip from her Jack and Coke. “Sometimes things are just painfully ordinary and boring.”

Ordinary and boring. Two things Hatch was determined to never be. Her dress was another present from her mother. It had been pointedly laid out for her before one of the many parties she’d been forced to attend, and was one of very few outfits that her mother picked out for her that Hatch actually liked. However, Hatch took comfort in the fact that she was pretty sure her mother wouldn’t have liked her shoes or her makeup, and relished that.

Even though the party was in her own apartment, Hatch waited until it sounded like there were plenty of people there before making her appearance. Looking like she’d been waiting for everyone else would just make her look desperate, so she waltzed out of her bedroom and scanned the party with a raised eyebrow. It seemed that everyone else had been as excited for the party as they had been. She made her way over to the kitchen to pour herself another Jack and Coke (heavy on the whiskey, of course), where she positioned herself to continue scanning the room and either find a familiar face or someone who at least looked interesting.

Winter break wasn’t anything special for Isabella. She was doing fine at Cascadia, making connections with other families, keeping her studies on track, as well as enjoying herself, though the second wasn’t that hard when she could spend an evening using her arcane magic on books instead of actually studying like some of the other students. Being home would be a nice break from the college life and a reminder of who she was and her goals.

At the Vayne Estate, Bella spent some time with her family, fortunately three of the four Vayne children were able to come home for break at the same time, so their parents could show them off all at once, which included a large gala. Her parents had planned it when they received Isabella’s schedule and communicated with their other children, and sent out the invitations to most of the well known Arcane talented families in the Northern Hemisphere, while traveling would be required for some, it was still a Vayne celebration. Isabella usually didn’t care about who was invited, but after letting it slip to her parents about the type of character the youngest child of the Taliesin family was, her parents rescinded their invitation. They didn’t expect them to actually come, but it was more so sending a message. There was talk about the Cunningham family, but her father once again decided against inviting them, as he had done every other time they planned on throwing a ball. Their curse of female only gifted arcanes was too much of a risk to Vayne bloodline.

Bella enjoyed her time at home, talking about her studies and who she was able to connect to, but not much had really change in the first couple months compared to her first year, so when she got bored at home, Isabella was the first Vayne child to leave, though the other children quickly followed and returned to their normal lives, Isabella’s younger sister gifting her a few outfits made from her own arcane magic, ones that Bella would for sure be showing off.

Isabella took her time actually getting back to Cascadia, but was glad to be back, Cascadia was the first real step to prove herself to herself and to her family, and so far it was going great. Though she shared the same opinion as her family about mundanes being allowed entry, it was nice to have even more people know her name. Though she mostly ignored the gossip and rumors about another death on campus, it was another human so not worth Bella’s worry. What surprised her though as she was settling back into the groove, she heard rumors of a party being thrown. And usually she wouldn’t care, parties were common at a college, but what threw her off that it was being thrown by a well known, acquaintance of hers, Harmony Cunningham. Or mostly known around campus as Hatch.

Under the Vayne household, there was much preparation that went into getting ready for a party, but Isabella wasn’t one for those traditions at Cascadia, mostly just focusing on looking stunning, making herself known, and enjoying herself. Bella knew this party wouldn’t be Arcane only, so she sent messages around spreading word about the party Isabella Cecelia Vayne would be going to first after winter break, making sure Harmony would hear she would be coming. Also making sure Lisa would be there, one of the few non-arcane people she could tolerate, but actually enjoyed herself with.

When the hour of the party rolled closer, Isabella focused on making sure her hair was perfectly wavey and flowing over the collar of her dress, as well as her nails were shining; she relished in her natural beauty and rarely wore make-up. The dress Isabella was going to wear was from her sister, made from real ermine fur, as well as enchanted to draw a bit more eyes and put off a relaxing aroma. Bella stood in front of the mirror checking herself out and twirling a bit before throwing on her knee high boots, that would give her a couple more inches in height, and heading to Hatch’s shared flat for the festivities.

It didn’t take her long to arrive, but when she did, she was glad the party was already in effect. Growing up, she was taught to never arrive at a party earlier, harder to show off with less people in the vicinity then when the party was already started and more people were on site. Her boots made a loud clicking on stairs leading towards the door and people were already turning their heads towards Bella; partly because of her enchanted outfit, partly because of her look, and partly because of her name.

As she walked through the room, Isabella bumped into a familiar face, though one that she didn’t care too much about. Monet Grey. “Oh hey girl. Fancy seeing you out and about at a party like this. Very interesting sweater. And hat. I'd never thought of wearing something like that, especially together, good for you.” Bella gave a light smile under her lips and shrugged her shoulders. It wasn’t long until someone behind her caught her attention, a good distraction from her current conversation. “My little Lisa Chu. How are you?” She said, embracing the mundane. “Hope your break wasn’t as boring as mine. Family parties and a lot of talking, parents love showing me off.” Bella continued, rolling her eyes a bit.

Isabella perked a bit as Lisa mentioned a new trick. “Oh please share, and once you do, let show it off to the others. But what shall we be drinking together?”

Monet’s family had never been the wealthiest, so when winter break came around, they had to decide if they wanted to spend the money they had on an airplane ticket, or save it so their funds wouldn’t go low. It had been Monet’s first Christmas away from home, and they would be lying if they said the experience hadn’t made them question their decision to go to university so far from home. It was a little eerie, staying on the nearly empty campas so soon after someone had been murdered, but they took some solace in the fact that they weren’t truly alone, even if it felt like it at times.

Monet was genuinely thrilled when people started coming back towards the end of the break. It had been hard, not being around their family over such a big holiday, so the influx of their friends returning was heartening, to say the least.

After classes had resumed, life seemed to just carry on as usual. It was sometimes a little difficult to catch up with others after a break; everyone was busy trying to get back on schedule, and Monet was no exception. While they hadn’t gone home over the break, they hadn’t spent their time being particularly productive, either. They spent most of their time over break watching Netflix and face timing their little sister. Monet hadn’t even fully realized how much they’d missed her until then.

Monet heard about Hatch’s party, and they really weren’t about to turn down the chance to go. Sometimes they declined (parties were so chock full of hormones and emotions and sometimes they were too much), but they still went to plenty of parties; there really wasn’t a better way to get the people they cared for together.

Monet spent a little extra time trying to find the right sort of outfit: they didn’t tend to fuss over their outfits too much (they were pretty confident and comfortable with themselves, and their clothing was no exception), but they did want to look cute.

Getting to Harmony’s place was easy, finding anyone once they got there was another story. Once again, Monet found themself lost in the hubb of people. This wasn’t unusual; they tended to be shorter than most other people in a room, and bumping into people’s shoulders wasn’t a good way to find their friends. Bumping into Isabella Vayne was probably the worst thing Monet could think of so soon after arriving to a party.

Monet had tried to be friends with Isabella, they really had, but the girl seemed to hate them for things completely out of their control.

Don’t let her get to you, Monet thought to themself, Don’t give her that power. Monet smiled as Isabella spoke to them, and though they knew a backhanded compliment when they heard one, they still cheerily said, “Thank you, this is one of my favorite sweaters.” There was a brief moment when Monet wanted to say something about the fur, but instead they decided it was probably best to just ignore Isabella if they could. They’d decided a while ago that Isabella Vayne just wasn’t worth their time or energy. So, the moment Isabella had found someone new to speak with, Monet quickly turned to walk away. Hopefully, Isabella would be leaving them alone for the remainder of the evening.

Hatch smiled as Beau appeared in front of her, having had to negotiate a pack of jocks. “What can I say? Everyone’s desperate to see what it’s like to live like Hatch Cunningham,” she said with a shrug. “And don’t be ridiculous, Beau, I’d miss the distinctive awkwardness you always bring to proceedings,” she said drily, shooting her friend a wry smile. “My holidays were... well, the same as ever. My brother got engaged, so there was a lot of standing around at events that my family likes to call a party and smiling as politely as possible. You know what it’s like. Mother tried to be friendly but also tried to make me dress exactly like her.” She laughed a little, taking a sip from her drink. “Which went about as well as you can imagine.” She nodded politely as Ariza approached and asked about their winter break. “Oh, you know... same as ever,” she said with a shrug.

She spotted a familiar figure making their way into the party and smiled. She’d heard, of course, that Isabella would be coming. Isabella had made it abundantly clear that she intended on showing up, even if Hatch hadn’t specifically invited her. Which, of course, had exactly been Hatch’s plan. “Excuse me for just a moment,” she said to Beau and Ariza, making her way across the room. People seemed to part around her, even as drunk as some already were.

“Hey, Lisa, thanks for coming!” She said cheerily, before turning to Isabella and smirking, raising an eyebrow. “Hello, Isabella. Fancy seeing you here. Wonderful, as ever,” she said. “I’m so glad you could make it. What an... unusual choice of outfit.”

Lisa Chu | Human| #E10600 | Outfit | Bag

Lisa arrived relatively early to the party with a bottle of Moscato in one hand and plenty of hugs in the other. She seemed to be a hit among most all the circles that congregated around one another, which was a good thing considering that all of her housemates split off the moment that they entered the door. She chose something semi-casual for the night: a pink sweater and black skinny jeans, both of which were layered under a long, white cardigan. She kept her hair tousled and her make-up minimal, opting for a tinted moisturizer and lip gloss to kick off the new semester. She had to remind herself that this a "shoes" household and even if they didn't have maids, she need not take off her heels.

Despite their wealth, the Chu family still followed certain traditions from taking off their shoes to her grandma praying to their ancestors every morning to bragging about the latest handbag her mother got on sale, even if it was secretly counterfeit. Her own bag, of course, was a genuine white, Musubi camera bag bought directly from Acne Studios. The only other gift she'd given herself was a custom deck of cards (Bicycle brand natch) for the same reason that most women bought new dresses for the season.

"Lotta hey! How's it going?" she asked before skipping towards one of her past project partners, "Juan Carlos! I haven't see you since October. Where did you go"

As quickly as she slid by him however, she left to go find the one person she'd actually come to the party for.

Isabella Vayne.

Lisa caught wind of her best friend crashing the party a few days after word got out about Hatch throwing a back-to-school party with her housemates. For whatever reason, she didn't seem to mind that Lisa hadn't told her nor that she hadn't been invited. For all the things that the Vayne woman was, possessive was not one of them. She almost seemed to enjoy bringing more people into the fold.

“My little Lisa Chu. How are you? Hope your break wasn’t as boring as mine. Family parties and a lot of talking, parents love showing me off.”

The Asian woman returned Isabella's hug with a warm smile before nodding in agreement.

"I wish I could say the same but my parents are seriously obsessed with family so our trip to California was nothing but visiting relatives and shopping of all things. But-" she pulled out a deck of cards, "I did get these! I've been working on something new and if you'd like I could show you."

Before she open her cards, Bella proposed grabbing a drink, which was certainly something Lisa didn't mind. Granted, it would have been nice to put her bag down first but time that could spent putting her things away could be time spent drinking.

"You read my mind!"

As they began walking towards the kitchen, she found Hatch sauntering over with a strange glint in her eye. She could feel the tension cutting the atmosphere of EDM and alcohol, replacing it with the rivalry of two warlords fighting for control of Cascadia.

"Of course! I wouldn't miss a chance to catch up with everyone."

And Lisa would stay neutral because as dramatic as her internal monologue might have been, she could never predict where those two would end up.

CARLA; XXattire: xXXhex: #aebce3XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXLUCIA; XXattire: xXX hex: #f19b4c

Despite being siblings, Carla and Lucia had spent a significant amount of the break apart from one another. Back home, Carla's bedroom had spent the months unfilled, much to her father's chagrin, and her step-mother's silent contentment. Instead, she had spent the time hopping from apartment to airbnb. A week couch-surfing here, a few nights in a motel there; she had moved across the city as necessary. It had been expensive, and the numerous jobs she had worked had not taken kindly to her erratically changing addresses, but even at her bank account's most strained, she had never considered returning home. Not even Lucia, with all their words of reassurance, could convince Carla to remain anything but firmly distanced from her father, who she had no intentions of making amends with. Especially now, with all the nights she had spent rattled by the possibility that he was intentionally hiding her mother away, or, at the very least, that he knew more than he let on. He had insisted many times that he had not seen her since their battle in court, that she had gone on her way, perhaps even left the States. The last suggestion hurt and worried Carla especially so, though it was remedied by her firm refusal to take everything her father said with a dash of cynicism. The man was a notorious liar, after all, especially when he had such a heavy incentive.

Suffice to say, she felt happy to be back.

Furthermore, she was happy to see Lucia again, especially now that there was no quiet concern present beneath the surface of each interaction. Their environment had stabilised, and the worry ceased in favour of their typical enthusiasm. Now, Lucia sat in front of Carla's mirror, brows furrowed as they altered their hairstyle a fourth and final time. The teardrop jewels beneath their eyes winked in the lamplight as they deftly knotted the second of their two hair puffs. Carla, meanwhile, was on her second drink, preferring to get a buzz going before entering the fray. Lucia's own can of citrus-something sat still waiting on the dressing table, untouched for an hour since being opened.

"Just about ready to go."

"You said that an hour ago."

"My bad."

Carla shrugged, leaning over her sibling to inspect her face in the mirror. It too was touched by gems and glitter, and sent sparks flying across the glass. Satisfied, she pointedly shifted Lucia's can towards them. "You good? Drink up and let's go." One last lookover, and Lucia snatched the can, attempting to down it, then thinking better of it midway.

"I'll drink it on the way- let's go!"

By the time the two arrived, the buzz was kicking in for both of them, and they were all smiles as they walked into the house, greeting people left and right. The two of them were well known, well-liked despite their (or rather, despite Carla's) scandalous reputation. Lucia exchanged glance-overs with a passing handsome stranger as they hooked their finger around the ring of another can, catching the fizz on their lips.

"Damn, there's a lot of people h-" They and Carla spotted her at the same time, and Lucia's spirits immediately dampened. Isabella stood across the room, dressed as glamorous as ever. She looked stunning. Lucia felt sick.

"Come on." Catching their arm, Carla tugged them in the opposite direction. Lucia's head was bowed, but Carla threw back a frown at Isabella. The frown lingered as she noted the person Isabella was talking to. Are they friends, or what? It was going to be a problem, but as her gaze returned to her sibling, she noted it as one for another day. She spoke, tone hushed, as they walked towards where Monet and Isaac stood chatting. "Ignore her; she's not your problem tonight, okay?" Resisting glancing back, Lucia's response was as resolute as they could muster, "Okay." Carla gave their arm a reassuring squeeze, and by the time they reached Monet and Isaac, Lucia was bright once more, giving each of them a hug.

"Hey!"

Isabella smiled as her mundane talked a bit about her small winter break. Bella would’ve liked to do a bit more shopping, but couldn’t exactly complain about the clothes her sister had given to her. When Lisa pulled a deck of cards out of her new bag, which Isabella noted to herself to talk to her about later, her face began to glow a bit more, especially with the added information about learning a new trick. “Girl. Of course I want you to show me, how am to advertise the ‘amazing Lisa’ without knowing the show.”

Isabella was leading the way towards the parties kitchen, knowing the layout of the apartment from her previous adventures. She knew Lisa was behind her, well more so assumed because she wouldn’t know why she wasn’t. Though a certain voice talking to Lisa made her stop and turn around, changing her expression from a happy and entertained look, to more of a serious look and crossing her arms and leaning on one leg. The one and only Harmony Cunningham, or more well known and preferring the name of Hatch. Bella rolled her eyes when Hatch thanked Lisa for coming, even though Isabella was the reason the non-arcane student had come to the party.

When Hatch spoke about her outfit, Bella squinted a bit, shooting her a glare. She had already looked Harmony over, but did it again, with more exaggerated movements. “Yeah, I guess it’s a good party.” Bella began to talk, extending her arm out and checking out her black white painted nails. “And thanks. My sister is just starting to get big in the fashion industry. Maybe if you had come to my family's gala you’d know that.” She shot a smirk at the arcane, knowing full well there was no invitation. “Oh sorry Lisa. It’s… a complicated matter. Maybe next time I can sneak you an invite.” She said to her companion with a wink, knowing full well the chances of that were slim to none.

As she turned from speaking to Lisa, Isabella’s eyes wandered a room for a second, somehow landing and meeting the look of a certain someone, someone who she hadn’t talked to or even seen since their fight at the Vayne family party. Lucia Luciano. Lucia seemed to flip out at her about not saying the right pronouns to her which one thing led to another and them ending on bad terms, but the woman’s last words stuck with Bella since. "You know, for a genius, you really are so ignorant." But even now she looked as great as before, a much different outfit that Isabella was wearing, but paired amazignly with the usual face gems and look she would wear. Her eyes darted away from Lucia as Hatch spoke about her outfit.

“Though your outfit is great, fits your figure. I’m pretty sure I saw some maids and stewardess wearing the same thing. Anyways. We were just heading to the kitchen for some glasses that for the wine my dearest one here brought. Welcome to join us Harmony, but I know that you have certain company you like to hang around with. Let’s go Lisa, I’m thirsty and wanna see this new trick of yours you’ve been.” Isabella flipped her hair and headed towards the kitchen, already getting flustered with Hatch and would have to ‘discuss’ things with her later.

Isabella opened some cabinets to find some actual wine glasses, not wanting to use ‘solo cups’ for the Moscato Lisa had brought, and quickly opened the bottle to pour them some wine. “You hear the gossip about another student's death?” The redhead asked, curious about the mundane’s opinions on it. She leaned in close for a second and lowered her tone of voice. “I even heard it could have been magic related and some cult had kidnapped a few days prior.” She said quietly, mostly wanting to tease Lisa a bit about Cascadia’s rumors about arcanes and magic, even though they weren’t actually rumors, but she didn’t need to know that.

Beau gave a small chuckle as Harmony gave a quick remark almost immediately after, bringing the glass to her lips as she sipped a bit of her shot. Arching her eyebrow up at Hatch as she mentioned Beau's distinct awkwardness that she brought. Almost caused her to spit up the alcohol as she had gone for another sip, "Holy shit, Hatch." she sputtered, wiping the alcohol from her lips with the back of her hand. Beau nodded her head as her friend continued to explain how her Christmas Break went, even though she had an idea of how it went. Their families were relatively similiar in a few ways, so she understood how certain things were. "Psh, trust me...I get that entirely. Mine were no better.." she muttered. Looking down at her own drink for a few seconds before she heard a familiar voice call out from the crowd, as the figure in question walked over to them. Ariza Jackson, one of Beau's best friends that she had actually pissed over the holiday break. "Hey dude, glad to see you finally make it." she said with a short lived smile, as her eyes managed to latch onto someone in the crowd. She only saw the person for a split second, but it was enough to know who it was. The tall, slim figure, long red hair, and overly priced attire. Isabella Vayne. Even the name made her want to vomit.

Quickly looking back at Ariza, the small smile returned as he asked how things had been over the winter break, simply giving a small shrug as Hatch explained how her's went. Beau's eyes dotted from Hatch, back to the crowd as she left to go do something for a moment, "Uh, yeah. Sure...You go, you go do whatever it is that you-ah forget it" her voice trailed off into an incoherent mutter by the end. Way to be smooth, Beauregard, she thought to herself. Rubbing her temple for a moment, she looked back up at Ariza, "Anyway! The break was...as you'd expect. Not even worth going into. As always." she said with a forced chuckle before downing her drink before she began to refill her drink again, "So, what did the glorious life of Mr. Ariza Jackson offer him while he was away from his dear friend?" she said with a small smirk, clinking her cup against Ariza's before taking a small sip again.

It was only a few moments later that she felt someone's hand rest on her shoulder, which caused her to jump a bit before she heard yet another familiar voice speak up behind her. Turning her head to look to her side, a small smile overturned her lips as she saw who it was, Darcy. Another one of her, friends. "Oh shit, Hey Darcy!" she greeted the woman as she gave a short and friendly hug. "I hope you had a good winter break. It's uh, always good to see you." Beau said with a small chuckle, before turning back to place her drink on the counter. "Can I help getting a drink for you? There's, well...Whatever the fuck it is that they have here." she said with another forced chuckle, the nerves were begining to set in full force, taking her own cup back and downing it in one quick go. She'd need as much alcohol as she could drink if she wanted to be able to stay here any longer than she already had been.

Hatch just raised an eyebrow as Isabella mentioned her family's gala. Hatch knew full well that her family didn't tend to be invited to these things. A lot of older Arcane families viewed her bloodline with vague disdain due to the fact that the gift wasn't present in every generation and was only ever present in women. And to be honest, she was totally fine with that. Isabella's family's galas just sounded like her own family events but so much worse.

Isabella's comment about her outfit just made Hatch chuckle. Really, if she was having to resort to comments like that, Hatch had basically already won. Being called Harmony really just concreted that for her. She scanned the room as Isabella walked away, looking for people she hadn't already greeted that she actually wanted to talk to. That was a notoriously small group of people. So when she spotted Lucy and Carla talking to Monet and some guy she only recognised in passing, she decided that was better than nothing.

"Well, look who we have here!" She called as she reached the small group. "Monet, my dear, you look as adorable as ever, that look is just too sweet!" She said. "Carla, you are rocking that look. And Lucia, bringing some sparkle to all of our lives," she said with a grin, and wrapping an arm around her friend's shoulders as she turned to look at the man. After examining him for a minute, she thought she'd seen him hanging out with Monet a few times, but she didn't think she'd ever really crossed paths with him, but his outfit was different enough to what every other guy seemed to be wearing that he intrigued her. "Hatch Cunningham. A pleasure."

Isaac pouted as Monet gave him a stern look, telling him off for not having been around sooner, before laughing as they admitted to missing him and complimenting him on his jacket. "I don't know, you could probably get away with it as a dress," he teased. "You'd rock it, but not as much as you're rocking that cute ass hat," he said. He rolled his eyes as they asked him about not eating. "I totally meant to, I just didn't have time, mom," he teased as they made their way over towards the food. He was impressed by the selection, it was better than the pizza and chips that most parties just offered.

"Oh, I can only imagine. My holidays were... nice. Quiet, really, I kinda missed the chaos of college life," he admitted as he piled some chicken fingers onto his paper plate. [color#7b78b4]"Even if I'm now running between class and workshops and auditions, I wouldn't change it for the world."[/color]

He grinned as Lucia and Carla appeared, both of them looking absolutely fabulous. He returned the hug enthusiastically, before popping a chicken finger in his mouth. However, the presence of a new person almost had Isaac feeling on edge. She gave off an intimidating aura, even if she was a little shorter than him. She greeted the others before turning to assess Isaac, and he had to resist the temptation to shrink back under her gaze. But apparently, she deemed him worth her attention as she nodded and introduced herself as Hatch Cunningham. Hatch was such an unusual name that he was about to ask her about it, but another look at her and he decided against it.

"Isaac Fox. A pleasure to meet you," he said. "Is this your party?" He asked, and she nodded, those steely eyes unreadable. "It's pretty great. The food is really good," he said, and she nodded again in what he presumed was thanks.

"So how was your holidays?" She asked, but Isaac got the impression that the question wasn't particularly directed at him.

Lisa walked alongside Isabella, keeping a steady smile as Harmony made an obviously snide comment regarding the redhead's outfit. It wasn't uncommon for the upper class to wear fur, albeit the trend towards cruelty-free meant that pelts would be harder and harder to find. Personally, she didn't enjoy the idea of wearing a dead animal (leather not included despite the hypocrisy), but she would be lying if she said that Isabella didn't pull it off. Not to mention that her sister made it and it would simply be an insult to decline.

"Yeah! Everyone's looking great this evening," the Asian woman cut in.

The Vayne woman of course, retaliated with a petty jab of her own and in Vayne fashion just had to be class-related. She beckoned for Lisa to follow after and she was happy to do so, gripping her Moscato with vigor. She was more than happy to wine and flaunt herself, especially if it meant a distraction from Isabella and Hatch's...volatility.

They arrived in the kitchen, breaking out wine glasses and a corkscrew to finally get drinking. She had never been much of a party animal, preferring more intimate gatherings so getting slowly inundated (and tipsy) was the perfect way to unwind. Taking a long sip of Moscato, she perked up at Isabella's question regarding the recent death on campus.

"Yeah I did! Well I mean it was a tragedy, but I would be lying if I said it didn't interest," she answered, swirling her glass, "can imagine if there really is a cult here? What that would mean for Cascadia?"

All her theories and mystery chasing would finally come to fruition and she could be the first to report on it. Her major wouldn't be useless after all. Well it wouldn't be useless because she had connections within the industry anyway, but having a story to report meant more to her.

She pursed her lips for a second before taking another sip.

"You wouldn't happen to know anything about it would you?"

Isabella giggled to herself watching Lisa’s reaction and response to her bringing up the recent death on campus. She knew the girl’s major and assumed an event like this would peak her interest. “Cascadia is a college from a time long ago, you never know with places like this.” She quickly spoke in between listening to her current drinking companion and sipping the wine. Though she wasn’t expecting Lisa to ask to ask her if she knew anything about it. Obviously Bella wasn’t here when the death happened, so she wouldn’t be suspected, but she knew it wasn’t a question of Lisa interrogating her as a suspect. But her question was more so if she knew anything about it.

“Well hun, you know I come from a legacy of people coming to Cascadia, Vayne isn’t a shy name around the halls...” Bella said, swirling the glass of wine in her hand. “How about this little one, I’ll do a little bit of family digging, and if I find anything, you’ll be the first I tell.” She said with a smirk. Once again, not expecting herself to actually follow through with telling a mundane about the secrets of Cascadia and her own family, but it was fun to play around. Isabella quickly slowly sipped the rest of her drink and set the glass down next to the sink. “Anyways little Lisa, you know I need to make more face around the party. Go enjoy yourself, and thank you for the wine and the words.” She gave the woman a smile before leaving the room.

Bella saw many other friends and acquaintances as she walked through the next room. As she scanned the room, her eyes landed on a group of friends from before the break that she also saw at her families recent gala. A wicked smile came across Isabella’s face as she began making her way over towards them, ready to indulge in some recent gossip, and maybe even hear a bit more of the recent tragedy that struck Cascadia. But as she passed by a group of people in a circle minding her own business, Isabella quickly felt a fluid splash against her face and over her outfit.

“What… the fuck….” Words slowly left Isabella’s lips as she looked down at her now drenched dress. While it would come off easily with a spell from one of her friends, right now it looked ruined and stained. Her head turned to see where the drink came from and her eyes settled on a man with a now empty cup. Isaac Fox. Isabella usually didn’t like people making mistakes as it was a small pet peeve of hers and she would normally have some words with said person, but since it was Isaac Fox out of all people, the man who took it upon himself to be on a Vayne’s good side, Isabella wasn’t going to have any of it. A few moments of silence passed before she reacted.

Isabella wasn’t sure if it was the look in her eyes, or someone’s gut feeling came into play, but as she stepped forward, someone stepped in front of her starting to hold her back. “Really? Going to throw a drink on me and just stand there?” She asked rhetorically trying to push past whoever was holding her back, quickly seeing it was Hatch. “Let me go right now Hatch, this sexist mundane pig needs to be taught a lesson.” She said out loud, glaring back at Isaac.

Monet couldn’t help but grin as Isaac teased them. They didn’t mean to be pushy and practically parent him, but they didn’t always know how else to express that they cared. They were also projecting their worries about their younger sister onto him. Monet couldn’t help but feel slightly guilty for being so far away from her this year. The Grey family had their first Christmas without their mother the year before, and now Petra had gone through her first holiday season without her only sibling. There had been a lot of firsts for their family in the past few years.

Monet couldn’t be there with their sister, but it was easy to take that worry and guilt and use it to fret over their friends. It would fade quickly, just as it had before. Even in that moment, as Monet greeted friends and complemented outfits, the sense of worry and guilt seemed to melt away. Everyone was having a good time, and so would Monet.

Hatch’s arrival was a welcome one, in Monet’s book. They grinned at the compliment, and quickly fired back with, “You look fantastic, and I feel underdressed!” It was mostly in jest; Monet was comfortable enough in their own skin not to be too bothered by the way other people were dressed at a house party (even if they still couldn’t quite wrap their head around wearing heels to an event like this). They were glad to see that Hatch and Isaac seemed to be getting on well enough, and when Hatch asked about the holidays, Monet shrugged.

“I was here. It was… Nice and calm, mostly. Kind of nice, really.” That was a total lie; Monet had hated being alone. It was too quiet, boring, and slightly depressing. They were due a little excitement.

However, an upset Isabella Vayne was not what Monet had in mind. Silently, Monet said a thankful prayer to no-one-in-particularly that Hatch had been there to hold Bella back. They weren’t sure there were many others at the party that Isabella would have allowed to restrain her. “Really? Come on, Isabella; I know it’s upsetting, but this is a fucking party. Shit happens.” And this is why you don’t wear your fancy new furs to a college party. Monet was fairly sure Isaac wouldn’t dump his drink on someone on purpose, but even if he did, not many people would really blame him for targeting Isabella Vayne.

“Lucy! Look at you! You look incredible! I love your top.”

“My god. You look fantastic, too. Very sexy.”

"Carla, you are rocking that look. And Lucia, bringing some sparkle to all of our lives,"

They were no strangers to compliments, and they returned the niceties will matching sincerity. Already, the tenseness that had tightened about Lucia had begun to loosen, replaced with the comfort of friendly faces and Hatch's arm around their shoulders. Carla too, was at ease, very much in her element with a buzz of friends about her, and a drink in her hand.

She brought the can back to her lips, smirking against the metal as she watched Hatch and Isaac's tentative introduction. She didn't blame Isaac for his tremors; Hatch was certainly an intimidating presence, even with several shots of vodka in her system. She didn't think it would take them long to bond, though. Alcohol, for all its unappealing inducements, tended to prompt many friendships through its reduction of inhibitions. Perhaps by the night's end, the two would be cackling together over a game of beer pong, or kissing in a shadowy corner. The possibilities were all apart of the fun, and Carla buzzed with anticipation of the night ahead. She wouldn't be opposed to her own shadowy corner, in fact, given the right buzz and the right partner.

She hadn't been entirely sure how to respond to Hatch regarding the circumstances of her summer- they had hardly felt like a holiday, after all, but thankfully she found she did not have to, for any dismissive comment she might have uttered was quickly cut off by a particularly drenched and fuming redhead.

“What… the fuck…."

Carla and Lucia's reactions were near opposites; whilst Lucia was all shock and concern, Carla's surprise quickly turned to amusement.

“Really? Going to throw a drink on me and just stand there?

Carla's smile faded into bemusement as she followed Isabella's accusatory gaze, which was aimed directly at an especially bewildered Isaac. Isaac?... Is she serious? That guy couldn't throw an insult, let alone a drink.

“Let me go right now Hatch, this sexist mundane pig needs to be taught a lesson.”

Stepping between Isabella and the source of her ire, Carla addressed her with lazy derision. "Jesus, chill the fuck out, Isabella. He didn't do anything."
