Personality:
Kogo is...well, Kogo. She is loud, she is proud, she is...drunk. The woman is constantly drinking whatever she can, whenever she can. She may not look it, but she is also very much a flirt who does not discriminate with whom she flirts (unless they are underage, of course.) Kogo is a lot more irritable when she is drunk, constantly getting into fights and causing a ruckus of some sort. She loves to pull pranks on strangers and has an overall odd sense of humor. On the rare occasions that she is herself, however, Kogo is a serious person. Her indifference to the world is a learned trait, since those she gets close to die eventually. Her experiences have made her almost cold to those she meets, but once someone gets to know her, she can be sweet. Her methods of doing things may be outdated, but she prefers it that way over these newfangled devices they have now. What the hell is a "smartphone" anyways. It seemed like yesterday, they made a machine that could take you places faster without horses!

History:
Kogo was born sometime in classical Japan. From what she can remember of her childhood, her life had always been on the move as war had torn Japan apart. Regardless of this, Kogo was happy as she helped her mother and siblings with simple tasks. Her father was almost always away as he protected his family from whatever enemy was trying to take over the area at the time. Looking back, the woman thanks her stars that she had a relatively uneventful life. She could have easily gotten sick and died, or been killed in a battle, or what have you. Some of her siblings had passed away as children or were stillborn, but she was healthy for the most part. Her mother died not long after her twentieth birthday. Being the oldest, Kogo had to take over until the youngest was old enough to be married and away from home. It was just the way things were.
Almost four years, and Kogo was in her family home doing what was expected of her. Most of her family still lived at home and she was waiting for a certain brother to return before going on with her evening. Kogo was wandering through the front of the house when she heard yelling from outside. Peeking out cautiously, there was a group of men arguing with two of her brothers while shaking something around. It seemed it was getting even more heated when one of the strange men chucked something up towards the door. When it landed with a soft squish, Kogo couldn't help but cry out. Blood was streaked on the door and her father's eyes looked lifeless as his disembodied head rolled about a foot away. This caused the arguing to cease suddenly as they all stared at her. Time itself had seemed to halt for just a moment. When that moment passed, everyone had started to move. Kogo could only think enough to shut the door before someone was pounding on it. Blades were striking against one another. Gurgles and screams about honor were streaming through the air. She tried to gather the rest of the children before the strange men had broken in and were ransacking her home. One of her sisters was not lucky enough to be found before she was cut down.
Kogo tried her best, but there was just not enough time. The group of men had found the rest of her family and brutally slaughtered them. Kogo was protecting the youngest two, twin girls of about five years old. Of course, Kogo knew she was going to die. She knew there wasn't anything she could do. She would be damned if she didn't try! As the men came into view, a voice whispered out to her. "You can protect them, you know..." Obviously spooked, Kogo tried to find the source of the voice, but failed to find it. Then it spoke again. "Come on, don't you want to save your family? I can help you!" It was a voice Kogo could not place. The voice persisted. "Let's make a deal!" The woman was desperate. Her sisters looked up at her with terrified eyes and she knew she had to do something. With the slightest nod from Kogo, the voice giggled. "Good choice. In exchange for power, I want your time. Give me that...and I will give you the ability to get rid of your problem." Kogo didn't quite understand what the voice meant by time, but she didn't have a choice. Another quick nod came from the woman. Another giggle was the response. "Okay...there's no going back!"
Almost instinctively, Kogo held up her hand. The next few minutes blur together in her mind, but she remembers a blinding light suddenly shooting across the room and landing in the chest of the first man. He fell, instantly dead. The others started yelling at her "witchcraft" and debated back and forth on what to do. Another beam of light took off and barely missed the face of the man furthest away from Kogo and her sisters. This prompted the men to run off, cursing the house and Kogo as they left. Kogo released a breath she didn't realize she was holding in. A glance down to the children revealed their relief but also their new found fear in their caretaker. Kogo quietly told them to hide while she checked the rest of the house. Needless to say, the silence confirmed for Kogo what had transpired. Body after body was discovered, most of them being her brothers and sisters. It seemed the valuables had been stolen and the home mostly destroyed. Kogo and her younger sisters were all that was left. Kogo decided to take some of their possessions and some of the money she had hidden away and leave that night. They never returned to that house.
The three of them struggled to get by. Each one did odd jobs for money and food, but they had found shelter in a nearby village. Kogo was afraid of herself for a little while after everything happened. The voice did not return for a long while. News from Europe had come of a great battle between The Wizard and The Warrior, but otherwise no one in Japan had really known what happened. They all heard the stories and passed them around but life went on as normal. The girls had grown up, but over the years it had become apparent that something was...off about Kogo. Her appearance never changed. As everyone grew old, she stayed young. At first, this was a lovely surprise! Men were always asking for her. Many people had written poems about her after her condition became known. Kogo got caught up in the attention, forgetting her woes.
And then the twins passed away.
It was the reality check she needed. The deal she had made clicked. She gave up her time...she was stuck at 24 years old. Would she ever...die? How many years had it been since that awful night? Kogo found that the more she wondered, the more she drank. The more she drank, the more trouble she got in. After getting kicked out of many bars across Japan, Kogo decided to travel and never stopped. Her soul felt compelled to see what she didn't know. She kept her magic to herself and made sure to stay out of the limelight as technology burst onto the scene. She had the time to learn, so this was part of her quest as well. Centuries passed, and Kogo is now travelling through the United States. The last time she had been through, it hadn't even been a full blown country yet! Maybe she would meet some people like her along the way...she had a feeling magic was about to make a comeback.
