After moving into an orphanage with a headmistress who has a loose screw, a group of teens are becoming afraid since the place seems to be haunted. Something is watching them. Btw, there is a circus next door.

Introduction

A group of orphans, all with different stories, end up in an orphanage run by a young woman named Mademoiselle de Maitrissier. She appears to be friendly but has a loose screw and can be a bit creepy at times. Her wording comes out sometimes as a riddle. The Mademoiselles special talent is magic. She can simple make desserts appear on a table out of nothing and other fantastic things. On the brochure given to the orphans, the place gives them a warm feeling and seems to have a nice atmosphere. But that is how it is at daytime. Otherwise they will have many sleepless nights since the house seems to be haunted. Something is watching them and it often hides under their beds. When they look, there is nothing there but they still have the feeling that it is still there. In the evening, the Mademoiselle is the presenter at the next door circus or rather it is a freak show. What first seemed to be a great place reveals itself to have a bad atmosphere for a teen to grow up in. It might lead them to the brink of insanity just like the Mademoiselle. Even a slaughterhouse might feel safer for some reason. The orphanage gives the orphans a bad feeling and makes them want to leave.

Glenshire Orphanage: The orphanage is a large villa with many rooms. The orphans have the choice to have their own room or share one with another orphan. The dining room looks royal with a brilliant chandelier. The recreation room has many books, a billiard table, an old radio and a brand new television. A tea room with porcelain dishes and tea cups as well as a wide variety of tea and pastries neighbors the recreation room. A private classroom neighbors the dining room. The toilets are decorated with golden walls and faucets. The marble stairs like the three floors of the villa. Outside there is a soccer (brit.: football) field, a tennis court, a garden, a swimming pool and a shed with equipment for outdoor activities. Even though the villa seems old, the furnishings in it are brand new.

Basic routine: Wake up at 8:30, get showered and dressed, breakfast at 9:30, class starts at 10:30 and goes until 12:30, then lunch time, then another hour of class, then free time. The Mademoiselle watches out for people who eat too much and dooms them to outdoor activities to work off the food. The orphans dont need to clean since some kind of force keeps the villa clean.

Freak show: In the evenings at the circus next door, the Mademoiselle presents the freak show. The clowns there are scary and the freaks even more such as the amazon (a woman with many large muscles), the tigerman, the woman with the living severed head and body and so on. If the orphans are not in bed by that time, then the Mademoiselle has the orphans dress up somewhat decently and takes them with her.

It was the morning where the new orphans should come. The Mademoiselle was putting her suit on with her red tie and top hat. Every corner of the villa was clean and shiny. It looked like the home of a billionaire. She hoped that it wouldn't spoil the orphans but she wanted to ensure that they had a nice place to stay and wouldn't want to go. The Mademoiselle, Aurore de Maitrissier by name, had straight blonde hair, was tall for a french woman, smelled of a flowery perfume and was a bit busty. Her eye color was red which was an odd eye color. She grabbed her cane and walked down the halls checking that every room was clean and smelled good. The table in the dining room was set with teacups, dishes and silverware as well as a couple large plates with cakes on them. The Mademoiselle then walked down the grand stairs that led to the entrance. She then stood there with her cane and waited for the bell to ring.

Thomas hesitated as he approached the door."They could have at least walked me to the door." he said to himself, "Kind of irresponsible when you think about it. What if it's the wrong place? It doesn't look like an orphanage." He glanced around the front yard for any sign that there were any children living in the house, a discarded tricycle or maybe a forgotten shoe some kid might have managed to lose. Finally he walked the rest of the way to the door. "Oh well," he thought grimly, "only one way to find out." Thomas reached forward and knocked lightly on the door.

As soon as there was a knock on the door. The door opened as if a ghost had opened it. The Mademoiselle stood there grinning. She was beautiful and probably no older than thirty. Her hair was so long that it nearly touched the floor. "I welcome you to your lovely new 'ome. Make yourself comfortable in the lobby area. As time goes by, the time for new people comes nigh." The Mademoiselle said in a playful manner. "My name is Aurore de Maitrissier, but my friends call me the Mademoiselle. And you are?" She then raised a brow and leaned against the cane she held in front of her.

Sammy stepped out of the car, giving thanks to the driver. She stood at the door and took a deep breath before she knocked. She wondered if she had given the right address.
"Well here goes nothing," she said gentle tapping on the door. She really hoped she had the right address. She smoothed her hair down. She examined her nails. They were painted a sunny yellow color. She was a bit nervous, not that she cared what other people said about her. She set down her suitcase covered in bumper stickers. She kept her guitar bag on her shoulder.

The Mademoiselle heard another knock and again the door opened by a ghostly hand. "What do I find 'ere? Another child at my doormat, come in an let me bow, taking off my 'at. I may welcome you to your new 'ome, my villa, sweet girl with 'air like cream of vanilla." The Mademoiselle said bowing, then stopping with the bad poetry. "I am Mademoiselle Aurore de Maitrissier. You may call me Mademoiselle, Mademoiselle de Maitrissier or mother. If you see it really necessary then you may call me by my first name since Mademoiselle is just merely a title. And you are?" Aurore asked the girl. Aurore aka the Mademoiselle, seemed like she was stuck a century behind, dressing like a person of the 1910s and sort of talking so.

Haleigh stood outside the vast house watching the car drive off with a indifferent expression. Her dual colored eyes flickered back the large villa as she straightened her black and white lolita dress before she grabbed her bags and walked to the front door, he heels clicking all the way. She stopped before kncoking and for once wondered what would be in store for her once she entered the house, if it was the correct one. Sighing lightly she knocked daintily on the door and awaited a answer.

Then as the third knocked on the door, the door opened again without Aurore pressing a button or going to it. "Ahh! There we 'ave a sweet girl in a cute dress. Well I was told that the three of you are the ones certain to come 'ere. But I was told that there might be a couple more coming throughout the week. Let me introduce myself again and the orphanage. My name is Aurore de Maitrissier, formally Mademoiselle Aurore de Maitrissier. I am 28 years old and probably you can tell that I am French. You may call me Mademoiselle, Mademoiselle de Maitrissier or mother. You also can call me by my first name Aurore but I prefer to be only called that by people who are close enough to me." The Mademoiselle said. She then walked a couple steps up the marble stairs. "I will show you to your rooms. And then I will show you the villa, I mean orphanage." She then had three packed chocolate bars magically appear in the teens pockets. "Check your pockets for a surprise. See this as a welcoming present. And you dont need to worry about your luggage. They will be taken care of." With this Aurore meant she would unnoticeably use her magic to make the luggage appear in the rooms before they even get there. Aurore then put her white top hat back up on her head and led the way towards the rooms.

Reaching into his pocket Thomas brought out the candy bar. "How?" came his barely audible response. Glancing around to see if the others were as confused as he was, he followed the Mademoiselle. After considering exactly how the Mademoiselle could possibly have seemingly made chocolate from thin air Thomas realized that neither he nor the others had introduced themselves. He was unsure of whether or not to mention this to anyone so he decided to wait and see whether or not someone else would say something about it. As he thought, he began to fiddle anxiously with the drawstrings of his jacket.

"I am Sammy Scott, Madammoiselle. It's a pleasure to meet you," Sammy said with a smile. She felt the candy bar in her pocket and put it in her weaved bag. She didn't want to leave her guitar. She smiled down at the younger boy. She wasn't in a bad mood, she just couldn't help but feel a little bit sad.
"I'd like to hold onto my guitar if you don't mind, madamemoiselle," she said shyly. She didn't want to offend her new guardian. She seemed like she was a pretty nice woman.

"Oh such good manners, Sammy. Nice to meet you. You may bring your guitar with you. Well we are at your room now." Aurore said. She opened the door and the luggage was suddenly there. "You got a comfortable bed like the rest. You can 'ang pictures on the walls as long as you dont drill 'oles in the walls. You got three power outlets in case you 'ave any apparatuses. Each room 'as the same features as well as a desk. The next two doors are the rooms of the others. Whoevers luggage is in the appropriate room, then it is their room. Now lets go on." Aurore continued. She then walked on not really minding the pace of the others. "While we walk, I will tell you the rules. I expect good manners. You will only get punishment, if you are rude, get in a fight at school and are partially at fault for it and if I 'ave to pick you up from the police station. You will attend the Glenshire Private Academy unless you want to be 'ome schooled. If your arent in bed by nine, then I will take you to the circus next door since I am the presenter there. Otherwise after you get done with 'omework on weekdays, you have freetime. There is a large garden outside with a soccer field, a tennis court, a swimming pool and a shed with lots of equipment for activities. There is also a recreation room with a billiard table, books and a 64 inch flatscreen television. Be careful with the television it is sort of flat as paper. There is also a tearoom with dishes, fresh 'ot water, a variety of teas and many cakes a pastries. Just I will monitor your 'ealth and weight and make sure you dont become plump. We are now 'eading to the dining room where I 'ave set up dishes and cakes for you. And we could talk with each other there. By the way, if you desire to 'ave your room color or decoration changed or have any ideas for activities like making a maid cafe, let me know." Aurore then opened the door to the majestic dining room.

Returning Sammy's smile Thomas wondered why she seemed so attached to the guitar. Realizing that sooner or later he would have to speak up he took a deep breath and spoke. "My name is Thomas Bell." said the grey haired boy quietly, stepping forward slightly. "I am very sorry I did not introduce myself earlier, I know that I probably should have when I first arrived." he said regretfully, absentmindedly rubbing at one of the dark circles he had under his eyes as he did. He had many questions but thought it would most likely be better to start with just this one. "Out of curiosity," Thomas asked Mademoiselle de Maitrissier, "how did you seemingly conjure candy from thin air?"

The boy had finally introduced himself. He introduced himself as Thomas Bell. Then a question about the chocolate bars mysteriously appearing in his pocket. With this a grin grew on Aurores face. "Magic. It is as simple as that." Aurore said. She then took a japanese style fan out of her pocket and opened it up. "You should believe in magic. Although it is rare, it doesnt mean its not there. It is a talent by blood. I will demonstrate." She then took the fan and moved it past her face. When her face was visible again it was blank. Then she moved the fan back and her face had the make up of a clown. Then after the same procedure again, her face was back to normal. She then closed the fan and giggled. "But that was just petty magic. I could also disappear and reappear in another place." Aurore continued. "Are you surprised?"

"Well..." he said after a moment of thought, "yes but it also explains allot." Leaning back against a wall Thomas looked to the others trying to gauge their reactions to this. After a moment he looked back to Aurore and asked, "What else can magic do? Is it dangerous? Where does it come from? How did you find out?" The boy paused in his storm of inquiries thinking that perhaps he was asking to many questions, still there was one more thing he needed to know, "Is it something you could teach others?"

Then Thomas started to ask Aurore many questions. "Slow down. Magic can do much and it can be dangerous. I only intend to use the more dangerous magic to protect the people I love. Magic is passed down in a family. My grandmother was a sorceress. She taught me everything I know. Any I cannot teach it to others unless they 'ave magical blood or engage in a blood pact. But even someone who gains magic by pact 'as very limited magical power. And the pact is a thing of trust." Aurore said to Thomas. "Please people 'ave a seat at here in the dining room."

(Where is everybody? Please dont let this die so soon.)

(Sorry. I've been super busy cooking and preparing for Thanksgiving.)
Sammy stood quietly, taking in the sights and sounds. She admired her room for a short moment, before she continued along with the group. She was half listening to what Thomas was asking Madamemoiselle. She was deep in thought. She was thinking about what it was like to be at Woodstock tripping balls on acid. She had always wanted to see Jimi Hendrix. She could play Purple Haze pretty well. She snapped out of her thoughts when Madamemoiselle said that lending magic wasn't very good. Her great-grandmother had been a well known fortune teller and voodoo queen. Sammy had a knack for picking people's words out of their brains and people could never surprise her. She chewed all of her lip and studied Madamemoiselle.

Thomas sat down thinking over what he had just been told and how he didn't find it nearly as surprising as he felt he should have. "Then again," he realized, "neither had Sammy." He was quickly distracted however by the question of whether or not the fact that the candy was magically made meant that the candy itself was inherently magical or otherwise different from ordinary chocolate. Snapping out of his chocolate-related musings Thomas considered what the Mademoiselle had said about magic being passed down through family. Neither of his parents had been particularly extraordinary, although his mother could play the cello fairly well, and as far as he knew he had no other family. Noticing that Sammy was studying the Mademoiselle and remembering that she hadn't seemed surprised at the magic, Thomas gave his fellow orphan an inquiring look.

Mademoiselle didnt like how the kids wouldnt take a seat and used a bit of her magic. "Please have a seat." She said and then the chairs started to move scooping the teens up and moving them to the table. "As you see, I have made cake and pie for you. Anyone want a piece. There is also coffee, cocoa and tea." Then Aurore paused and then continued. "Two questions. Who is coming with me to the circus tonight to meet my friends? And who wants to attend the private academy and who wants to be homeschooled. If everybody goes to the private academy, I will eventually take a job there as an arts and literature teacher there."

Sammy almost fell when the chair made her sit. She politely declined the offer for cake. Sammy wasn't one for sweets. As a younger kid she never really was allowed processed sugar. She tucked her legs delicately underneath her.
"Madamemoiselle?" she called, "Does your circus use animals?" She had always been against performing animals, but she wouldn't decline her invitation. She was curious as well. She set her guitar against the side of the chair. She was curious about the Madamemoiselle's magic. She wondered if she knew anything about fortune telling. Sammy was pretty good at reading Tarot cards. But other than that she didn't know else about magic. Voodoo... Now that was a different thing completely.

Accepting a cup of tea, Thomas realized that he had never actually been to a circus before. There were a lot of places he'd never been to, now that he stopped to think about it: like the zoo, or a school, or, well a lot of other places. Considering the Mademoiselle's other question Thomas didn't know whether he'd rather homeschool as he always used to, or if he should try the private academy. "I'd like to meet your friends." Thomas said quietly, raising a hand. He zipped his jacket and took a sip of his tea attempting to warm himself.

Sammy had declined the offer of having cake. She then asked if the circus used animals. "Well, for one show in the circus there are animals but for the animal whisperer. 'e seemingly can talk to animals and they understand 'im. But the circus is known as the freak show. Its a place for people with special abilities, traits and talents." Aurore said. Suddenly the doorbell rang. Aurore quickly got up and soon came back with a tall good looking man with pointy teeth. "When we are already talking about the circus. This is Juan. 'e is the circus clown. Please dont be terrified by his teeth. Its just something 'e was born with." The man didnt have any clowns makeup on and had a friendly smile. If he didnt had the pointy teeth, he probably would come across as a very sympathetic man. "I am pleased to meet you." Juan said with a slightly Spanish accent. Then Aurore said: "Thomas this is one of my friends." Then Juan said grabbing Aurores hand: "I wish we were more." He gave her a wink. Aurore blushed a bit. "Well if you guys dont 'ave anymore questions. You can freely wander around the villa and get comfortable with the environment. If you lack clothing or dont 'ave any pyjamas, then I can give you them." Aurore said to the orphans. Juan then said: "Why dont you tell the orphans about your fortune and why you live in a multi-million pound mansion?" "I will get to that as soon as someone asks me."

Len got out of the car with his delicate sun umbrella, that he had just got yesterday. Unfolding the silky fabric, he noticed the house he would be living in from now on. "It is very large." He murmured as he looked up. He walked slowly to the mansion, and slowly nocked on the door. He took a deep breath thinking about all the bad things that could happen to him in this house. Suddenly he felt a slight dizzyness, as things started to go back and forth over and over. And then he got on his hands and knees thinking that would make it better, but everything around him still rocked around, making it hard to see. He got up slowly and rubbed his head, and the dizzyness went away. He nocked on the door once more, just in case they didn't hear him.

"I'll get it" Thomas said setting down his tea and standing up to answer the door. He quickly crossed to the door and pulled it open. He looked up at the older boy for a few seconds before saying "Nice parasol. I'm Thomas." he said extending a pale hand. "Are you alright? You don't seem well." While he was in the hospital he'd done very little other than read books, many of which were medical, although most were psychology, and he knew enough to tell that the newcomer either was, or recently had been, unwell.

"Nice parasol. I'm Thomas." Thomas said, and extended a hand. "Are you alright? You don't seem well." The boy said. "He must be one of the other orphans that lives here." Len thought to himself. "I'm Len, nice to meet you." And shook the hand that was still infront of him. "So where is the owner of this mansion?" He asked trying not to sound rude. But right after the dizzyness picked up again, and he saw three Thomas's in front of him. "Umm, may I come in and rest please?" He asked while folding up his parasol.

"Oh, I'm sorry, please come in. The Mademoiselle is in the dinning room." Thomas apologized leading Len inside and shutting the door behind him. "I think this is the way there, but don't be too surprised if I'm incorrect on that matter. This is a big house and I always did have a talent for getting lost. By the way can I ask why you're carrying a parasol? I thought that they went out of style sometime in the late seventeen-hundreds." This last comment was meant to be a joke, albeit a rather confusing one involving implied time travel. It was funnier when Thomas' father told it.

The Mademoiselle grew slightly impatient of where Thomas was and got up shortly. "Please excuse me for a minute. I will go down to see what is taking Thomas so long." Aurore said. She arrived at the entrance and saw a new orphan. She smiled and said: "Welcome to your new 'ome. I am Mademoiselle Aurore de Maitrissier, the owner and 'eadmaster of the Glenshire Orphanage. Like I told the others already. You can call me Mademoiselle, Mademoiselle de Maitrissier or mother. Your luggage can be left down 'ere. They will appear in your room. By the way, may I know your name?"

Re: [OOC] Boogiemans Orphanage

I hope I didn't upset MotherDragons. Now that I'm reading it over again, what I responded to the lateness apology could have been misinterpreted as an insult. I was thinking that that might be the reason for the lateness this time. If that is the case I'm very sorry.
