Setting
Ember licked her lips and tried to imagine how emotions would feel if she actually had them. To know how it would feel to... Well, really feel. The liquid metal disappeared, but then a sound of sqawks interrupted her thoughts. A blue bird was diving for her, yet again. Instinctively, the still forming liquid metal in her hands stopped and turned into another shape as it shot through the air and... Right through the little blue bird's chest. She blinked and felt a surge of something but as soon as she felt it, it disappeared, leaving her suprised and angry, but different. The dead bird, still impaled by the pencil sized spike gently levitated toward the ground. A shame the bird died, but it was... Expendable in her mind, besides, she had read that Blue Birds weren't rare, but common in places like this.
Ember stared at the skewered blue jay and thought of her flower design for the metal that now imbedded itself in it's chest. "You ruined my idea, and now I can't use this metal anymore. It was a tool in your death. I am... Sorry." Her voice sounded monotone, as she pushed the dead bird off the metal spike and watched as it fell to the floor. The metal spike fell into her waiting palm before she strided toward the house.
Nirvana planted herself at the corner of the house, finding herself intrigued with the girl she was watching, using metal in her capable hands. She took notice in her very grey aura, grey and brown. It's not a very common to see those two colors together and she was very interested. Her pale blue eyes followed to works that see was doing to tenderly. Sweeping her long soft curled blonde hair over her shoulder, she stayed quiet, having a tender smile on her face, that was until she heard the chirping of the blue bird that appeared.
"Oh, please no.." She said softly to herself under her breath, as the girl had shot the bird with whatever metal she had been working on. As soon as it nailed the bird in the chest, her aura had pulsed a slight black, and that was a terrible thing, and it had broke Nirvanas' silence. Stepping around the corner as to almost say stop even though it was far to late for her to interrupt, She stopped in her tracks as she heard the girl say sorry.
Her eyes watched as the girl walked up to the doorway, and Nirvana went down to look at the bird who was bleeding quite vigorously out of it chest, for a bird at least. Looking for any slight of breath from the bird, she sighed, and thought tenderly to herself What were you expecting, it wasn't going to be breathing, it's not going to be saved. It would have been easier for her to heal a small bird such as this, humans was were the real migraines and fear took place. More energy needs to be put in bigger body's. Blinking down at the limp, bleeding body of the bird, she looked around fro a nice spot of grass. She felt bad if she had just left the bird there, so she decided to bury it. Looking over to a tree more closer to the front of the house, she cupped the poor bird in her hands and walked over. There was no shovel or anything, she Nirvana had dug with her hands, getting the already bloodied hands covered in dirt. As she finished a hole that would fit the bird she picked it up and gently set it in the dirt to rest, then moved the soil back over. She stared down at her pale hands now dirtied to a place were it looked almost like she had committed a murder. "I need to wash this off." She spoke softly to herself. Pushing herself off the soft grass ground, she finally walked and made her way up to the house.
Max wondered around the open field gazing at the grass as the wind blew it in one simple motion. He was intrigued that he could control something so powerful but yet so calm. He surprised himself sometimes, more or so than he thought. He felt as the wind hit him full force causing his jet black messy hair to fly back and dance in the wind.
There was nothing better than being outside on a windy day and feeling the rush, of the breeze passing through you, or so that's what Max had thought. Sure there weren't any major storms like typhoons or twisters. But it was just as enjoyable. He looked towards the house where he now resided along with 6 other people besides himself.
"Oh well, I guess there's no way around it. It's probably about time for lunch." Max stated as he began walking towards the house in hopes of something good being made for their lunch. The man who had taken all these "gifted" people was seemingly awkward himself. He didn't have any powers but it's like he can tell whats going on around him just from the small things. The Mentor had found Max at school, after hearing about all of the incidents and meeting Max. He was certain that Max should come with him for whatever reason Max was oblivious to.
Avi sat silently in the grass with her fox friend, Mist, by her side. It was pleasant to have a friend beside her with whom she could either speak to or not speak to, yet they would still understand what the other meant to say. Ever since their meeting the night that Avi had left her own home and family, Avi and Mist had some unmistakable yet odd relationship. While Mist was not necessarily a pet to Avi since he lived on his own as a normal fox, Avi often found herself calling to Mist when she felt depressed, angry, or was simply bored, and the fox would come faithfully as a good friend would. Now, Avi and Mist lay silently beside each other as they sometimes did. Avi played lazily with the grass, twisting her fingers around and causing it to grow and form odd shapes as it came out of the ground while Mist watched her, head on his paws, with his white-tipped tail swinging blissfully behind him.
Avi's brown locks lay comfortably around her head and she moved her head around as someone would if they were listening to their favorite song. Similarly, Avi tapped her bare foot against the soft grass as she changed the color of a nearby daisy to a soft yellow to match her content mood. In fact, Avi was not listening to a song, but she was listening to the harmonies and melodies of the earth around her. She could feel everything in the grassy field, from the roots of the grass, to the breath and the heartbeat of the fox that sat next to her, to the soft treading of a man whom Avi had pinned as the familiar heartbeat of Max, the wind element, walking through the field.
Avi felt a light breeze followed by a more forceful gust ruffle her comfortable large, comfortable beige sweater. She opened her eyes for a moment to watch the wind blow the grass about and then closed them again lightly. She felt the beat of several other people back at the house and placed the familiar heartbeats to the faces of the people she lived with.
A bit carelessly, Avi reached farther out in her mind, trying to feel the vibrations of the world farther away. However, a loud shriek suddenly filled the peaceful melody she had been hearing and she realized that she had gone too far out. It had happened more than once where she would carelessly try to reach out to feel the vibrations of things farther away and, without her careful focus, her power would take over. What would happened was that the hums and tunes of the earth she loved so much would become too powerful for her. She would reach too far out and begin to hear terrible, loud shrieking noises. This would usually result in a lot of strain to pull her mind back to her present spot.
At that moment, Avi sat straight up in the grass and opened her eyes wide. Feeling the earth around her with her fingers, she strained to pull herself back to reality. After a few painful moments, the shrieking no longer filled her mind and she could breath normally once more. Her once peaceful state had been compromised by the shrieks and she cursed herself for ruining her own mood.
Avi looked at the fox beside her and gave him a slight, tired smile. "Go home, Mist. I'll call to you later," Avi said quietly in the fox's own language. The fox looked reluctant, but said a warm good-bye and trotted off in the way he had originally come.
Avi sat a moment in the grass, trying to go back into her blissful state. Upon realizing that it would not be happening and she should head back to the house, Avi began to stand. Her head was still pounding from before and, upon attempting to stand, the world seemed to tilt and wobble. Avi stumbled and fell back once more. Having been in this state several times before, Avi realized that standing was not about to happen anytime soon and she did not want the others to see her in this weak, vulnerable state. Rather than go back to the house at the time, Avi pulled her knees into her chest and wrapped her arms around both legs. She would ride out the worst of her aching head before she would go back to the house and to the others. She lay her forehead on her knees and simply sat there, breathing in and out as she attempted to stop the world from spinning and to feel only the earth around her and not the earth miles away as she had been moments before.
Sam sipped his coffee, his red hair was cut about three to two inches from his scalp. The scars on his face giving him an air of danger and... An insane person. He has lived a long life, and before this long life, many reincarnation were lived. It had been difficult living here with the teenagers, especially with their T.V. and having gigantic stomachs that needed to be filled with his food constantly. He needed to go to town. Sam looked at Ember as she sat down on the couch and turned a movie on. "Hey Metal, when Avani gets back in tell her I went to town and I should be back in a couple of hours. Don't use your Element in the house while I'm gone and also tell her no one leaves the house while I'm gone."
With that Sam took outside, started the truck and took off.
He yawned once more and slipped from his once warm bath as his gills retracted into his neck and he looked almost like a normal teenager. He wandered out and shook his head like he was a dog to get rid of the few droplets in his hair before he grabbed his clothes he had laid out the night before and started to dress.
He emerged ten minutes later fully dressed with a white shirt and a pair of jeans and went to his closet and slipped on a black jacket which helped enhance his silver hair. He started to the door when he heard a small splash and turned around to see his cheerful cephalopod moving around trying to get her master's attention. Carded chuckled and walked over to the tank to pet Blip. The squishy head made a ticklish feeling to the boy's hand every time. "I'm guessing you're hungry." he said then grabbed a small bottle containing her feed and dropped it in causing Blip to dart towards it and start to open the bottle.
Carded pulled his hand out slowly thinking she should be fine as he absorbed the water on his sleeve making it dry as a bone as he made his way downstairs. He saw that Sam was gone and Ember was on the couch. "Morning metalhead." he said with a smirk as he walked to an armchair and plopped down.
Jumping out from some undergrowth near the drive of the house he watched the tail end of Sam's truck disappear. ' Yes.. free house' he said meaning that Sam would not be around to monitor him, though in his excitement, he gave a little fist pump, setting his hand on fire. ' Damn it i gotta stop that'. he thought wandering into the house as he put his hand out.
Once inside the house he wandered through the living room towards the kitchen, giving a nod to metal, before smirking to water " Sup fish boy" he said moving into the kitchen, pouring himself a glass of water. Coming back into the living room he looked at the TV, but shook his head slightly " Where did the old guy head off to?" he asked to no one in particular.
A cough escaped her and she went to cover it by moving her arm in front of her mouth; a slight pain had throbbed in her head also. Guess I'm still not fully recovered. she thought to herself, before moving into the kitchen and grabbing some water.
Ember pulled her hands close, to levitate the pool of silvery that promised hope. She inhaled, echaled, and concentrated on the image, and feel of her project. She felt a surge of power run through her, pulling back like a tide, and rolling forming into a killer wave as she let it loose focusing on the metal in her hand, coaxing the aggressive storm inside to change what she held. The feeling of being powerful came back again, and this time she experimented with it by encouraging it to swell and filled her to her toes. A bright flash exploded between her palms, the metal liquid curled around itself and unfurled itself, actually turning and taking a form of a flower, it's petals moving with the wind like an actually living flower. Veins were etched so detailed from petal to stem. It was a lily, a silver metal lily.
Ember opened her eyes and actually jumped up and laughed, her eyes burning bright with... Joy? Glee? No... Power... She ran inside and actually went to Nirvana, the spirit user. The metal flower levitating after her. "I did it! I did it! I actually did it without hurting anyone!" She let go of the girl and turned to looked the flower she created and smiled, but then couldn't help it. She hugged everyone in the room, even the fish boy, and laughed again... Except this time she laughed the T.V. made static noise, the mircowave actually turned on and the frigarator stopped making that whirring noise it always made. The lights also went out. She stopped smiling and looked at everyone. "Oops... Sorry, I forgot..."
