Kanade Aya || Female || 16 || Popular Girl || 2A || Sapiosexual
Birthday: February 15th
Measurements:
"I'm 5'6", when it comes to the height. When it comes to everything else, well, isn't that best left to the imagination?"
Appearance Description:
Aya is somewhat tall for a Japanese girl, given that she stands at 5 feet and 6 inches, or around 168cm. She doesn't appear to have a problem with her height, walking around with erect posture and a smile on her face. In fact, the young woman has been known to wear heels in order to make herself even taller, for whatever reason. She has auburn hair, probably due to being 1/4 American on her father's side, and caramel-colored eyes. In general, she is considered one of the prettier girls in school, hence her position as a popular girl. She is somewhat athletic, a big swimmer anyway, and therefore is fairly slender and toned. Her hair is slightly curly, even when she brushes it. The young woman has a tendency to dress rather stylishly, though she does it more because she likes cute clothing than in order to impress other people. Because she doesn't like others to see her frown or cry, Aya seems to always wear a smile of some sort on her heart-shaped face. Most that know her will agree that she has a bright expression, and is relatively warm. Her face is very expressive, and so she does have difficulty hiding her thoughts or emotions.
Personality:
Although her appearance does help, Aya isn't popular exclusively due to a decent face and a rather good fashion sense. The young woman is very extroverted, and seems to have nearly boundless amounts of energy, always ready for whatever comes with a grin and a bounce in her step. She isn't quite hyperactive, but walks the line quite often. One of the main outlets for her energy is swimming, a sport in which Aya is very competitive and, thanks to having trained in it since she was very young, quite gifted. When it comes to that sport, and most other things, Aya is a hard-working young woman who never half-asses anything, regardless of whether she had wanted to be involved in the first place. After all, she believes that luck is an illusion, and life is molded by reactions and the consequences to those reactions. If she merely takes bitter times and sulks about it, than she doesn't have the right to complain about it in the first place, right? This philosophy leaves Aya with a great dislike for the types of people who complain about their problems and yet never do anything to fix the issue. She is very vocal about her issue with these personalities, but that kind of applies for most things. Aya doesn't seem the sort to filter her words, whether they be sharp or soft, cheerful or pessimistic.
This means that she can be rather rude at times, blurting out whatever the first thing to come to mind is without much regard for how it may affect others. This isn't one of her better attributes, unfortunately, but at the very least it lets people know that she is honest. Aya isn't the type to talk behind people's backs, and expects the same from others. She has been known to respond aggressively to gossips, breaking her normally cheerful -if slightly hard-headed- character. Of course, such situations tend to be resolved eventually, because if she regrets it she will present the victim with food. If she doesn't regret it, however, the situation tends to end there, unless the other party chooses to retaliate. One bonus of her popular status is that they usually don't- maybe they are afraid about her connections? Well, it can't be said, because it varies from case to case. Her aggressive streaks aren't too frequent, though, and thus she doesn't quite make it into the rebel category. That being said, she may be seen on the roof a lot, sleeping or eating. Aya would never intentionally miss a class, because she knows that she needs them, but that doesn't stop her from accidentally sleeping through lunch and then the next class until someone has found her.
Honestly, Aya is a rather childish young woman at most times, given her impulsive and optimistic attitude. She can be embarrassed by the tiniest of things, and is quick to blush when flustered. However, she isn't as innocent as she may come across. In fact, she is quite wary, though this fact may surprise some people. Aya has seen more things than people believe that she has, but for the most part suppresses any such memories in favor of making new, happier ones in her school life. The only time this wariness ever reveals itself is in sporadic moments of seriousness from the young woman, in which her personality seems to warp completely for a moment. These are similar to her moments of aggressiveness, but do not quite correlate. They are different situations entirely, after all. Although popular people aren't exactly famous for it, she is very loyal, and can be shockingly cruel to people who hurt those she cares about. That is the third secret side of Aya: the vicious one. When she is in that mood, her tongue is sharp and stinging, an entirely different thing from her usual verbal diarrhea. As a side note, it is actually rather easy to amuse Aya, and she tends to latch onto things or people that she finds interesting until she grows bored.
As a side note, although the young woman is pretty good at history and science, she tends to do really poorly in subjects like art and mathematics.

Story:
Aya was born into a very wealth family, daughter of the owner and CEO of a major company that owns a popular chain of food stores in Japan, selling things from high class cuisine to ice cream in little shops all over the country. Thus, she was born into a life of privilege and luck, most certainly coming into the world with a silver, if not golden, spoon in her mouth. She was not the first child, however, although she considers herself rather fortunate in this issue. As Aya's elder sister was born three years prior, she is the one being groomed to inherit the family business and the prestigious name of the Kanade family. Meanwhile, Aya is able to have a bit more freedom than her sister, not bearing the weight of the company's future on her shoulders. At the same time, this has meant that she is often overshadowed by her elder sister, who was a child-prodigy and great beauty, basically surpassing Aya in seemingly every way. When she was younger, Aya idolized her elder sister, but as her sister, whose name is Chieki, grew older and busier, she began to ignore Aya in favor of focusing on working for her future. Spoiled as she was, Aya resented that, and soon began to resent and envy her sister, a bit of darkness that people don't really expect in such a normally cheery young woman. Anyway, she grew in the shadow of her sister, known more as 'the younger Kanade sister' than anything else. Even as the younger child, her freedom was still somewhat limited. She couldn't sully the family name, after all, or ruin things for Chieki. Aya was told to be quiet but cheerful, intelligent but not intimidating. She was the accompaniment to her sister's solo- the chorus to Chieki's leading role.
Aya loathed her own resentment, but did her best to create her own person inside of the school, though it was difficult to escape the family name. It's a rather large one, after all. She overheard parents telling their children to be nice to her, and knew that students coddled her for the sake of her name. Her family had owned the private elementary school she went to, after all, and they were terrified of being fired if they angered she or her sister. Thus, though she had some freedom, Aya was both smothered and forgotten all at once. When she was eight years old, Aya ran away from home for one week. She regretted it almost immediately, but had gotten lost and had no idea how to get home. While lost, she was sexually assaulted and nearly raped, but managed to run away and find one of her family's stores, finally finding her way home. She never told anyone about the assault, of course, at first from fear and eventually because she didn't want people to pity her. So her life went back to its normal state- the girl in the shadow trying her best to shine away the darkness.
When it came time for high school, Aya begged and pleaded until she was allowed to attend a school outside of her family's private school. There, she pretended that her name was simply similar to the famous company, and was able to be something besides her name. She is, honestly, much happier than she has been a while, no longer in the shadows but instead standing in the light, beaming and smiling. As long as she doesn't do anything bad, this glittering new world can continue to be available to her. Aya wouldn't have it any other way, and does her best -often unsuccessfully- to stay out of trouble so that she can remain here.
