Childhood/Family Life:
Mickey Drexler, Father, Age 68 | Peggy Drexler, Mother, Age 57 | Andrew Drexler, Brother, Age 20

Mickey Drexler, CEO of J. Crew and director at Apple, and Dr. Peggy Drexler, Cornell psychology professor, never planned on having children. They were both career driven individuals who loved each other, but didn't think they would have time to raise a family. She was in her late thirties and he in his late forties when they married and they remained a happy couple for seven years before finding out that Peggy was pregnant. Not only was she pregnant, but pregnant with twins! While the news was shocking, the couple decided to take on the challenge and nine months later, welcomed Andrew Brody Drexler and Grace Margaret Drexler into the world.

Mickey and Peggy loved their children dearly, but their arrival didn't change the fact that both adults had major careers to focus on. Like many other Upper East Side children, Grace and Andrew were primarily raised by nannies. For most of her childhood, Grace didn't mind it. She was given everything she wanted and more, and by being involved in various extracurricular activities and a topnotch school, she rarely noticed her parents' absence. However, as she grew into her teenage years, her mother's distance became more apparent. She didn't have a maternal figure to rely on indefinitely and the surplus of clothes and items that her parents used to fill that void was no longer cutting it. Andrew went off to a boarding school a few states away around this time as well, so Grace took it upon herself to make her friends her family. Most girls have best friends, but Grace's girls became like sisters to her. She took on the position of the leader of their friend group and essentially ruled the private high school they attended together. She truly loved the girls but to some, it might not have seemed that way. The lack of nurturing that she received from her own parents combined with how always got her way, caused her to become a bit cold and distant. She struggled to put anyone's needs or desires before her own and as most liked to say, she was a "total bitch". However, her position of social authority allowed her to remain at the top until she graduated the preparatory school.

Fulton University was her top pick, although her parents insisted she attend Brown University. The cold weather had never been for her and the promise of a strong Greek presence at Fulton captivated her. The only way she had gotten through high school was by developing close bonds with her friends, so she knew it was essential for her to join the Greek life in college.

Quirks//Habits//Oddities:
When she feels cornered or attacked, she tends to throw other people under the bus. For example, if she's confronted about gossiping about one of her friends, she won't hesitate to claim that someone else was the one who started the conversation and said even worse things about the person.
She has been getting a mani/pedi done twice a week for the past eight years and since moving to Miami, only goes to one specific salon.
She refuses to take medication for anything, unless she's in the hospital or in extreme pain. Even her worst hangovers weren't enough to push her to take an Aspirin. There's no real reason behind it, besides her desire to be "all-natural" (even though she's far from that).
Shopping has become therapeutic for her and she often spends thousands of dollars a month on clothes she'll never wear.
She looks people up and down whenever they approach her. It's easy to read her face when she doesn't like you.
Her bedroom is always very cold. She hates being hot when she's sleeping.

Good personality traits:
Vocal, Passionate, Social, Eager, Bold

Bad personality traits:
Unforgiving, Dramatic, Demanding, Entitled, Critical

Personality:
Grace fits in well with the stereotypical image associated with the Alpha Theta Pi girls. She was raised with everything she wanted at her fingertips, and she never entirely grew out of that bratty and entitled state of mind. Whether it's a boy or a new dress, if Grace wants it, she's going to do whatever she needs to do to get it. Some see her belief that she can get anything she wants to be delusional, especially as she's growing older, but she just sees it as being determined. If for some reason things don't work out in her favor, you can expect a dramatic and often ruthless response from her. She won't hesitate to spread nasty rumors about people and do all she can to slaughter their reputation. However, she would never engage in a physical altercation with someone and additionally, she isn't one for verbal fights with girls. She's the type of person who doesn't like to get mad, but get even instead. One of the major flaws that her friends see is how territorial she can be. She's known for taking offense offense to someone flirting with a guy she's dated, slept with, or even just has an unannounced crush on. Demanding, high-maintenance and judgmental all describe her character well. She isn't ashamed to admit that she's a bitch, but in her own defense, a lot of her negative traits are there because she's scared to let her guard down. She puts up a strong front so that no one can come too close and hurt her.

On the contrary, Grace has positive character traits as well. She has a strong voice and isn't afraid to speak her mind and opinions. She excels at public speaking, leading others and taking charge on group projects when she's feeling motivated. She's usually a fun person to be around and enjoys partying, dancing and hanging out with her friends. Recently, she decided that she needs to be more spontaneous, so she's hoping to travel more and go on little adventures this year. Behind closed curtains she may not seem it, but when in public, Grace has poise and control. She knows when to speak and when to keep her mouth shut, when to be polite and how to say things to make people like her. It may not be the true her, but she learned from her parents that her public image is important and even if she's just acting, she needs to maintain it.

Greatest joys in life:
What makes your character happy? Is it food? Family? Friends? Money? At least four.

Greatest fears:
Many of Grace's fears involve her love life. She's scared of never finding "the one", being cheated on, and getting a divorce.

Life philosophy:
"Be brave. Take risks. Nothing can substitute experience."
β€”Paulo Coelho

Thoughts on Greek Life:
Since high school, Grace knew that she wanted to be involved in Greek life and once she began researching Fulton's sororities, she knew Alpha Theta Pi was where she needed to be. She loves her sorority but is definitely not innocent of the backstabbing and bitchiness that her house is known for, and is actually probably one of the best at the vindictive behavior. When Elysia graduates, Grace is convinced that she will be the next President of Alpha Theta Pi. She doesn't care very much about the other sororities, unless they cross her or one of the other girls. If any of them were relevant, they would have been put in Alpha Theta Pi, and since they weren't she doesn't deem them to be very important. Similarly, she usually only spends her time trying to get to know the Beta Gamma Omega boys.

Plans for after college:
If everything worked in her favor, Grace would love to return to New York with a serious boyfriend. They would buy a cute apartment uptown, get engaged and a year later, get married. She doesn't plan on working for a living but will probably work for J. Crew just "for fun" until she has children.

Build:
She stands at an average height of 5'5" and weighs around 115 lbs. She has never been extremely curvy but has enough assets to allow her to feel good about her body.

Hair Colour:
Brown

Eye Colour:
Brown

Distinguishing Marks:
Both of her ears are pierced once. She went through a stint in high school where she was convinced that she wanted a belly ring, but is now glad that she never went through with it. She does not have any tattoos or noteworthy scars.

Style:
Her father's career is fashion based, so Grace prides herself in dressing well. Her style is normally preppy, as she likes wearing dresses, cardigans, and bright colors.

The campus was alive with excitement, anxiety, nerves, and anticipation. A new school year had begun the second students began moving back onto campus, but now, it finally seemed to hit them. For some, it was their final year at the beloved Fulton University, one of the top universities in the country. For others, it was their first year. Either way, there was a sort of buzz all around campus, a tingle each and every student felt as they greeted this year of opportunities and adventure. And what better way to start it all off than with the one thing on everybody's mind - Rush Week. Granted, these would only be the preliminary rounds, but who knows what could happen on the very first day...

As the track slowly moved to its conclusion and after receiving a nod from one of her favorite radio partners, Naomi officially turned the dial for the sound down, speaking into her microphone clearly with her ever present and rich British lilt. "That was 2 On by Tinashe, the best song of Summer 2014. You heard it here at Fulton U Hot 103.4." Ronnie, or Ronald when he was in their political science class with Dr. Skarsgaard who truly did not care for pleasantries or students, much less, grinned at her making a face at him for pressing one of the controls, which caused a squelching sound appear just after she finished her sentence. He played too much sometimes and she had half the mind to reach over the table of controls that separated them just to swat him on the head, but opted against it. She had to go soon anyway. She rolled her eyes at him before continuing, "This is your girl Nomi, NomiIzMe, and I'm about to turn everything over to my co-host, RonnieB. Don't get forget to holla at your girl at the beautiful Zeta Nu Delta House stand at the 2014 Fulton University Activities Fair. Hope to see you all there." With a mock salute and her favorite mix of India Arie and a beat from DJ Mustard, Naomi spelled her own exit and turned everything over to Ronnie, nodding to him as she set down her headset before exiting the large recording area.

Once outside in the busy hallway, she hoisted her bag over her shoulder and made her way through the crowd, the gold of her Zeta Nu Delta custom-made bracelet catching a glint from the sun, which peeked in through the barely closed blinds of one of the hallway windows. Smirking to herself as she saw a few noticeable freshmen males whispering to themselves and glancing over at her, she twirled a few strands of hair with her pointer finger, shooting them a sultry grin accompanied by a wink before turning the corner. The move was harmless and judging by an exclamation followed by a quiet roar of excitement from where they had, it had the desired effect. She didn't mess around with freshmen guys and never would, but it definitely was fun toying with them. Not that she would ever lead them on or anything of that nature, but flirting was harmless. Besides, she wouldn't be a true Zeta if she didn't have a bit of a flirt in her. A more genuine smile flitted across her face at the thought of her girls and without hesitation, Naomi whipped out her phone to text them just as she pulled into one of the many bathrooms on the first floor to simply check on her image.

To: Zoey, Amelia, Sierra
Omw 2 the booth. 1 of u better b there

Naomi wasn't particularly worried about any of the girls showing up late, she decided, as the text was sent. She had already specified that one of the other sophomores would set up with some of the baked goods Naomi had made the night before. She slid her phone into her back pocket before primping her hair. She had chosen one of her more fun outfits for the day. It was eye-catching enough to remind everyone that she was a fashionable woman, but simple enough to not do too much in. Naomi could be a lot of things, but she wasn't that much of a show-off. Besides, that tomboyish edge was her thing and she always had to make sure it was on point. After reapplying the natural-looking shade of pink lip gloss on her lips and that her hair was still on point, she gave herself one more appraisal before leaving the bathroom and heading out to one of the larger grassy areas of Fulton University, where the Activities Fair was to take place. Every year, the location changed and she actually preferred the area they chose for this year. It was spacious and open, and left room for some of the campus' more physically active organizations to show off. It was like a tame Zeta/Sigma party, except without the booze and heavy grinding. Just a paid DJ and everyone weaning out their favorites.

Once outside, it didn't take her long to get to her booth, which was closer to the Sigma table. She frowned a bit when she didn't see Miles yet and decided to find her favorite Sigma, setting her bag down beside her chosen chair and taking a seat. Folding one smooth leg over the other, she grinned at the Zeta who had watched the table in her absence before pulling out her phone to text Miles and her other best friend.

To: Miles
Slacking on your pres duties?

To: Sam
U better not b sleep

Jack smirked as Naomi fired back a few insults of her own. He tried to pinpoint what it was about her that turned him on. Could it have been the accent? The attitude, maybe? He did appreciate anyone with confidence. However, it wasn't like Elysia turned him on this way, or even Grace. Something had to be different about this girl to have such an impact on him and it was getting to a point where he needed to figure out what his feelings for her really were, and where they came from. "You're telling me that isn't what this is?" he questioned, returning to reality as he tossed the bitten cookie back onto the plate as she referenced icing covered cardboard.

He straightened up as she stepped around the table and in front of him, and he didn't do a good job at hiding his look-over of her as well. It was brazen, but as far as his Beta brothers knew, Jack was just over here to remind Naomi of her place and stir the pot a bit. That was all they needed to know, too. At her request for him to move, he put his hands up in a surrendering motion and took a few steps back towards the Betas. "Alright, alright. But hey, if you ladies want any Beta meat, just shout my name," he smirked. He was going to leave them with the innuendo, but couldn't help himself but to add in one more comment. "Or better yet, scream it. Zoey, you'll show 'em how to do it, right?" He hadn't acknowledged his fellow senior before, but gave her a cheeky grin and wink before making his exit.

The Activities Fair welcomed organizations from all across campus but judging by the stands set up, it might as well have just been a Greek fair. None of the other booths were comparable to the over-done displays that the fraternities and sororities sat behind. Not like Jack was complaining though, because between the Betas superb grilling skills and the picture-perfect look the Alphas had going on, the brother-sister houses were destined to dominate again this year. Any rusher that they wanted would be theirs by the end of the week. That was something that he was sure of, and something he knew Elysia was sure of too. He spotted the blonde seated in front of the Alpha table looking nothing short as perfect as she instructed her girls to complete the finishing touches to their area.

What surprised him wasn't the massive cake set beside her, or the matching outfits the girls wore. He was more shocked to see that neither Grace nor Emerson were seated at the table yet too. Emerson's absensce was peculiar for the obvious reason of her being a senior Alpha and more so, Elysia's current girlfriend. Grace could very well have been still at the house finishing some task Elysia had set for her. It wouldn't have been too surprising, considering that the president tended to be harsh on the junior, but he would have expected Elysia to want the whole gang to be there by the time the fair started. If nothing else, Grace was unarguably a good representation of the Alphas aesthetically speaking.

He knew that he should properly greet Elysia but decided to wait a while. Even if she looked calm and collected, the perfectionist inside of her was probably stressing about making sure that everything was on-point, and he didn't want to get in the way. Plus, he kind of wanted to wait for Grace to show up. Maybe he'd get lucky and would start the year off with her with the same connection he felt for Naomi. That would make things a lot easier, to say the least.

"Dan, how's the food looking?" he called out to the junior Beta who he hoped was monitoring the younger guys manning the grills. As he waited for a response, he took a seat in front of the Beta table and examined a stack of pamphlets that one of the guys had set down on the end of it. He had to admit, they looked pretty good. It outlined all of the recognition that the Betas had received for their service work, the many notable Beta alumni who had gone on to become majorly successful, and many of the other boast-worthy points of being a Beta.

Kyle groaned into his pillow as he felt the sheets of his bed being pulled off of him. He was awake now, the light brightly shining in through the window blinds. His head felt heavy as he lifted it; the hangover was minimal compared to other ones he'd suffered. Turning to the beautiful brunette beside him, hogging all the blankets, nudged her slightly.

"Grace," he cooed. She stirred slightly. Shrugging to himself, he laid back and stared at the fan on his ceiling slightly whirring as it blew over them. This was a common occurrence, Grace in his bed, and he of course did not mind it. He couldn't remember when it had began but it hadn't ended yet. Although the two seem unlikely of a pair, he's found a way to get along with the princess. Maybe it's the sex. Probably. Still, there was some sort of a friendship that had grown between the two that he couldn't begin to explain.

Besides the fact that Kyle wasn't typically one for relationships, the two have never considered dating. In fact, they specifically find themselves in Kyle's bed because Grace has a status to upkeep. Party boys like himself don't fit nicely into a classy girl's world, even if the two end up drunk at the same parties and walking home together often. Grace's job as an Alpha is to mainly date Betas, and Kyle has no problem with this. In fact, he enjoys their weird times together, how could he not?

He glanced over at the clock, 11:19. FUCK. He probably should've been setting up the activities booth about 20 minutes ago. The other guys had probably started without him but he'd get shit from Miles about it later. Speaking of which, Grace probably had some plans to be ordered around by Queen Elysia. On top of that he'd made some plans with the cute freshman girl he'd met the day before.

Quickly getting up he stumbled around the room grabbing clothes to throw on. "Grace!" he said, sort of a loud whisper. She mumbled a bit, so he threw a pillow at her head. "Hey!.." she snapped, "what do you want? it's so early.." and burried herself deeper.

"It's 11:23." he answered, slipping on his shoes and ruffling his hair in the mirror. It was messy but not very dirty. Kind of a sexy bed-head type, luckily for him. "You should probably hurry if you don't want to be late," he suggested, "the guys will probably all be heading over soon but if you wanna make it on time I'd take the window." He laughed a little, trying to imagine her scaling down the side of the house in heels. "Just use the ledges as steps ok? be careful." If she was being sassy, he ignored it and walked over to kiss her goodbye. He kissed her quickly and gave her a sly smile, "Good luck," he chuckled as he left the room, "I'll text you later."

He ran into the bathroom to quickly brush his teeth, and check himself in the mirror one more time. He knew he looked fine, but it was a nice reassurance. Pulling his phone out of his pocket he checked the time again. 11:30. Just in time to meet Karma downstairs.

He noticed a text from miles;
Are you at the booth?

He responded;
Omw now

Coming down the stairs he found that she'd made her way to the house easily enough, and had already caught the attention of his brothers. She was talking with Javi, a sophomore photography major. Kyle didn't know too much about him but he seemed like a pretty good guy. On the other hand, Sean, who was drooling over her from the living room, was a bit of a sleaze sometimes. Kyle wouldn't really be one to judge though.

He sauntered over to the two, Karma's backside to him, which in its respect looked very nice. She'd told him when they met that she was a model, and he could see why. He found her cluelessness a little funny though, she had to know tons of boys fawned over her constantly. It'd be ridiculous to not notice after two approached her in the first minute she stepped into the house. He smirked when he saw her, he'd always had a thing for blondes. And brunettes. And definitely red heads. Girls with hair really.

He slid in beside her, placing his hand gently on the back of her shirt, careful not to touch skin. He liked to be a little gentlemanly. "Morning Javi," he greeted, his voice smooth and deep. He then turned to Karma, "and morning to you as well, gorgeous," he slid her a sly smile. "Sorry to interrupt, but we're a little late." Javi nodded curtly and moved aside for them to go. He heard Sean mutter, "Figures she came for Kyle.."
He smiled at that, and raised an eyebrow at Karma, "Ready, darling?"

Zoey shook her head but couldn't stop herself from grinning when Naomi referenced how Sam would have to make it up to her later. She was definitely right about that. Zoey's mood wasn't easily dampened, and Sam forgetting to wake her up on time wasn't enough to ruin her day, but it had offset her vibes. Although it would only take seeing his adorable face for a second for her to forgive him, she was getting impatient. He hadn't even responded to her text, nonetheless shown his face yet this morning.

It shouldn't have surprised her when the Beta boys set up camp only a few feet away from the Zeta booth, despite an excessive amount of open space elsewhere. Just like the Alphas, the brother house had to make sure all eyes were on them. In one way, that wasn't horrible - nearly every member of the fraternity was easy on the eyes, but that didn't combat their distasteful personalities. There was no better person to represent the Beta guys than Jack Reynolds himself; the most arrogant and entitled smart ass of them all. As if on cue, the President approached the Zeta booth and didn't waste a moment before unleashing a few jabs at Naomi. They only evoked an eye roll from Zoey, who knew well enough that the back-and-forth digs shared between the two house leaders had more emotions than cattiness behind them. No one else would know enough to sense the sexual tension between the pair (yet, at least) but Zoey had gotten the secret out of Naomi last year. Naomi was her best friend, which meant that Zoey wanted the best for her, and Jack Reynolds certainly was not the best. However, she knew that what the two had wasn't anything serious as of now, and that meant that she didn't feel the need to put a stop to it. Naomi knew better than anyone what Jack's true colors looked like. She would know better than to fall for someone like him.

As Naomi got up and spoke told Jack to excuse himself, she turned her head backwards, scanning the small group of Zeta girls who were setting things up. She couldn't see Amelia and Sierra, which certainly surprised her, as they were two of her favorite Zeta pledges from last year. If Jack hadn't left with a parting cheap-shot to her, she would have inquired about their whereabouts with Naomi. His words caught her off guard though, and she was just happy that Sam wasn't there to hear it. Not only did she know it would have pissed him off, but she also had a feeling that he would have tried to pick a fight with Jack over it, and that wasn't something she wanted to deal with. She had slept with Jack during their freshman year rush week. He was cute, she was drunk, and it just kind of happened. Later she would find out that it was part of a hazing ritual that the Betas encouraged back then, but in the moment, she probably wouldn't have cared even if she knew. She wasn't embarrassed for having slept with him for a couple of reasons. One, he was undeniably attractive. Two, she was wasted, and three, she didn't know how annoying he was at the time. Naomi couldn't use reason three to justify whatever she and Jack were doing.

She nodded in agreement when Naomi muttered something about him being a prick. "Keep that in mind when you consider sneaking off with him tonight after the Jamboree," she said in an equally hushed tone. She was serious but spoke lightly because again, she didn't see Jack as being a big problem right now. She hoped that Naomi still had enough sense to just keep their relationship in bed.

When Miles approached, Zoey smiled softly in acknowledgment but wasn't nearly as excited as Naomi, who nearly jumped onto the boy. She was friends with Miles, but not exceptionally close. He frequently came to her with his girl problems but that was where their relationship ended, usually. There wasn't a lot of depth to it. Seeing his face reminded her of the texting conversation she had had with him a day earlier about Grace, which reminded her of her Alpha friend. She hadn't seen her all morning, which was unusual, seeing that probably all of Elysia's girls besides Grace were already at the booth.

To: Grace Drexler
I expect a hello from you. Come find me :*

After texting Grace, she nodded as Naomi dismissed herself and then glanced back at Miles. "Tell me that you've got something to spike these with at your booth," she said playfully as she grabbed one of the virgin Jello shots from the table.

It took a split second for Grace to go from being comfortably lost in dreamland to being thrust into a panic-struck reality. Not only was she severely late, but she was severely late on the first day of rush week, which meant that she was seriously screwed. Elysia had a strict schedule for the girls on days like today, where they were supposed to wake up before the sun rose to start prepping. Even being a mere five minutes late would piss Elysia off, so five hours late was simply unspeakable.

"She's going to kill me," Grace muttered a couple of times as she frantically searched his bedroom for the clothes she had worn the previous night. She was sure that the Alpha house would be empty by the time she got there, which meant that luckily, no one would catch her making her walk of shame. Still, she probably would have preferred some of them still being there. At least that would mean that she wasn't running this behind schedule, but as she caught sight of a clock again, she knew she wasn't going to be that lucky. She quickly located the shorts she had came over in last night, but whatever shirt she was wearing must have been tossed somewhere unknown as they undressed each other. There was no time to search for it and after only a few seconds worth of an attempt to locate it, she gave up and grabbed a Fulton University t-shirt from his closet. It was large enough on her frame to show that it probably belonged to a guy, but common enough on campus that there was no way it could be traced back to Kyle.

His suggestion that she leave through the window to avoid bumping into any guys quickly brought a scowl to her face. Still, she knew that it was the best - no, the only - option that she had, and she had done it enough times last semester to do it stealthily. "You're lucky that you're good in bed," she warned him, as if to suggest that it was the only reason she would put up with such treatment. In a way, it was. She wasn't going to climb out of a Sigma window for just anyone and if it wasn't for their sexual connection, they probably never would have formed any sort of friendship.

She remained in his bedroom for only a few moments after he left. She did what she could to manage to make herself look decent for the short walk to the Alpha house, and then did as directed, and slid out of his bedroom window. Almost ten minutes later, she was stepping into the Alpha house and just as she expected, it was silent. There was no time to waste, and Grace knew that. She ran upstairs and into a bathroom where she took one of the quickest showers to date. It was disrespectful to show up to the event late, but she figured that it would be even worse to show up late and disgusting looking. So, after stepping out of the shower, she blow-dried her hair, did her makeup and quickly put together an outfit to fit the Alpha colors. She was definitely late, but she tried to reassure herself that at least she looked good.

Instead of bringing a large bag, she decided on a small rose clutch that she had bought over the summer in Paris. All that she planned on keeping in it was her phone, but as she hurried out of the house, she kept it in her hand rather than in the bag. As she should have expected, she had a ton of texts from Delilah and some of the other younger Alphas asking where she was throughout the morning hours. There was also a recent one from Zoey, that Grace didn't have time to answer in the moment. She had left her phone at the house on purpose last night, but she had expected to be back by one or two in the morning, not eleven-thirty. Unfortunately for her, she had been a few minutes behind Emerson and didn't know that the senior was running late too. It would've worked to her advantage to know that she wasn't the only one showing up significantly later than expected, but even if she had that on her side, of course Elysia would favor Emerson. Not only were they best friends, but girlfriends.

It wasn't difficult to find the Alpha booth. It was the nicest and most orderly one on the lawn. Everything looked perfect and Grace expected no less from Elysia. However, she was much less focused on the decorum than she was on Elysia, who was talking with Emerson and Emery. Grace did a good job at acting calm as she approached the table, but she definitely knew that even if Elysia didn't make a big deal about it here in public, that she would pay for her absence later on. However, she saw the three being engrossed in conversation as a perfect opportunity to avoid the situation for now.

Instead of interrupting them, she slipped past the trip and found Delilah a few feet away, handing out pamphlets to passing girls. "You look cute. I told you those heels would fit you," she commented with a soft smile. Grace definitely wasn't a fabulous role model in many ways, but she really did care for Delilah. She still struggled to put the big sister role ahead of her own needs - like sneaking off to be with Kyle - but she did genuinely want Delilah to feel like she could come to her for anything.

Delilah couldn't have been any more excited for today. A year ago, she was embarking on the best journey of her life and now she got to be on the other side of that. Not only would she spending the day with her favorite people who she was just getting reacquainted with after a few months separation, but she would also be meeting new girls who would soon become her sisters. She couldn't hide her enthusiasm for the events of the week and it was obvious today, as she had been one of the first ones awake.

Like every morning, she started her day with a short jog around campus. This was followed by a quick shower, which emphasized how lucky she was to be an early riser, since the early morning hours were one of the few times when the bathrooms were actually unoccupied. She brushed her hair out but decided to let it air dry into its natural soft waves, and put on an outfit that Grace had pre-approved the night before. Although Delilah didn't expect Grace to be as anxious for the day's events as she was, she was surprised when she knocked on the girl's bedroom door and didn't get an answer. When she finally, and somewhat reluctantly opened the door and peered into the room, she was puzzled to find the bed made and seemingly untouched from the day before. If Grace had somehow woken up and gotten ready while Delilah was out on her jog or in the shower, it was certainly out of character for her, but the idea of her just never coming home last night didn't even cross her might. Maybe it was the naivety of her mindset that made it seem like an impossible scenario, or more likely, the fact that she couldn't imagine anyone having the guts to do that on a day like today. Besides, most of the time when Grace was doing something she knew was wrong, she would at least give Delilah a head's up and ask her to cover for her if Elysia or someone questioned her whereabouts.

A bout of text messages went unanswered, which worried Delilah, but she hoped that maybe Elysia had sent Grace to pick something up off campus and that everything was fine. She tried not to worry and focused on her role in the events. By six o'clock, she and many of the other sophomores were already making their way to the campus green where the Activities Fair was being held. Their hard work paid off, because hours later as the other organizations started to set up, it seemed obvious to her that the Alpha section was the most well-presented. No matter how much blood, sweat and tears went into it, she was proud to be an Alpha.

When she spotted Elysia for the first time all morning, her excitement only heightened. She simply adored the president and that was no secret to anyone else in the fraternity. Delilah was something of a teacher's pet when it came to Elysia, but she worked hard to keep it toned down to a point where she wouldn't be annoying. She wanted it to be known that she would be willing to help out in any way that she could without being overbearing. Especially when Grace was missing, Elysia was the first person she turned to for advice or even just company. This morning, she knew that Sia had more important things to do than to chat with her though, so she continued to help with the finishing touches on their tables.

She had almost lost hope for Grace showing up entirely, when the brunette seemingly appeared out of nowhere. Delilah discreetly watched as she glided past Elysia, Emerson and Emery without a word of acknowledgment to Elysia. Even from feet away, she sensed a bit of tension there, but she tried to hope that her Big was just keeping to herself because Elysia knew where she was, and she had no need to explain herself. Although she was nervous, the smile that appeared on her face when Grace approached her was genuine, as was the blush that followed the compliment of her outfit. "Thanks!" she beamed. "My heels are probably going to kill me for it tonight, but I think it's worth it for now," she giggled, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. She wasn't sure if she should comment on Grace's absences and went back and forth on it for a moment before deciding to hint at it. "I was texting you all morning! Did your phone die or something? The girls and I were getting worried."

Andrew was already awake when he Emery used the intercom to wake everyone up. He was always a heavy sleeper but since he went to bed at a fairly early hour the previous night, he had no problem waking up at seven this morning. In an effort to get back into his school-year routine, he started his day off with a freshly brewed cup of black coffee and stopped by the campus cafe for a chocolate chip muffin. Upon his return to the Kappa house, he took a brisk cold shower and dressed in a simple navy polo, khaki shorts and Sperry boat shoes. Although he wasn't into dressing flashy for such a casual event, he also didn't want to look like he was ready to head to the beach. The Kappa Alpha house may not have been as image-obsessed as the Beta fraternity, but they had pride in the way they presented themselves too.

When it was time to start setting up their booth, Andrew chose to help carry the drink coolers. His parents had sponsored the beverages, which even he was surprised about. The relationship he had with them was nearly nonexistent. When he returned home from school breaks, he was essentially ignored by the pair and just as he was during the school year, by his sister Grace as well. This summer had been slightly different though, since his parents were nearly convinced that Poppy was his girlfriend, which meant that he had finally "gotten past his gay phase" and was going to settle down with a pretty, smart girl. He didn't bother correcting them, because he honestly appreciated being treated decently for once. Plus, his parents spent most of the summer travelling so he didn't even bump into them at their Hamptons summer home more than a couple of times over the two months. They had already given him the money for the Activities Fair event by the time that Grace informed them that Poppy was nothing more than a friend to him, and their relationship fell back to being rocky at best.

As students began to populate the courtyard, Andrew assumed that it was probably nearing 11:30. Emery headed off to check out the neighboring stations so Andrew took a seat in front of their table and greeted any passerby's. He was enjoying getting to know some of the freshman but was also anxious to reunite with some friends too. After finishing a conversation with a freshman, he stood up and nodded to Marcus, the Kappa standing closest to him. "I'm going to go check everything out. Be back in a little," he explained before heading off. Their booth was situated next to the Alpha's. Although he hadn't had a chance to talk to Elysia since returning to Fulton, he saw conversing with Emery and Emerson and just gave a passing wave as he headed past them. He continued past the Beta booth and then stopped in front of the Theta Chi section. He caught a glimpse of his sister hurrying past him, but as if they were strangers, neither acknowledged the other. It still brought a knot to his stomach but he was used to the way they interacted by now. He didn't expect anything more from her.

When he stepped closer to the Theta booth, he found Poppy chatting with Naomi and a boy who he assumed to be a freshman. "Good morning, sunshine," he smiled at Poppy as he stepped past Naomi and the boy and towards Poppy. He greeted Lianne and Giselle before turning back to Poppy and nudging her shoulder. "Who's the boy?" he quietly inquired. Although he had missed whatever Alexandri had said to Naomi, he could tell that something was going on between the two. Why would he be standing a Theta booth without good reason, anyway?

The amount of guys that stopped at the Beta table stressed Jack's belief that their house had no competition when it came to rushing interest. Every guy wanted to be a Beta, but since only some could actually make the cut, the rest were left to choose between the second-choice options of Sigma and Kappa. The thing about the Beta Gamma Omega house, as Jack believed, was that you could get the best of both worlds in it. Most of the guys were smart enough to pass their classes, and could definitely have a good time at parties. Maybe they weren't all valedictorians like the Kappas or drink until you pass out party animals like the Sigmas, but they could enter both realms when they wanted to. Jack was convinced, at least from his own experience, that Beta was the house that every guy wanted to join.

He spoke to as many of the rushers as he could, although only a few of them struck his attention as being potential Betas. He liked to think that he wasn't nearly as judgmental or critical as Elysia could be, but as he conversed with the freshman, he had his own list of criticism piling up.

You think we want someone like you representing our house? Buy some Proactiv and then come talk to me.

Lose the Bieber haircut, dude. This isn't 2009.

Weak handshake.

Too timid.

What the fuck kind of name is Ulysses?

The first definite no came after Naomi stole a water bottle out of one of their coolers and strutted past them. "Hey, someone should let her know that it's water and not vodka in there!" Jack called out after her. She didn't turn around or offer a response, but his eyes lingered on her moving form until she disappeared into the crowd. His attention was only directed back at three of the boys standing in front of him when the tallest of the three spoke to the other two.

"You hear that accent? Banging a foreign girl is on my college bucket list." Had it been said about anyone other than Naomi, Jack probably would have chuckled and thought well of the boy. He made an effort to act unaffected by the remark, but he had already decided this kid had zero chance of becoming a Beta.

Pretending not to have heard the comment, he continued his conversation with the three about the Beta house and charity work they did, before offering each of them a handshake again. Before they departed, he addressed the tall one. "What was your name again?"

He seemed to interpret the question in a positive way, as if he had maybe stuck out as being a likely candidate for the house and beamed with pride. "Kevin Sawyer."

"Alright, cool. Thanks for stopping by, guys. Make sure you grab some food, too."

After making a mental note to personally reject Kevin Sawyer later that week, he switched places with one of the other senior Betas who had been working a grill. Jack enjoyed cooking a lot, and grilling was his specialty. No matter how small the occasion was, he would fire up the grill outside the Beta house and cook steaks. It was a ritual for him to do it every night before a big exam and although he sometimes got slack for some of the fancier things he would cook inside, no one seemed to complain about his borderline obsession with barbecuing.

He was in his zone as he examined each piece of meat on his grill, occasionally calling over a sophomore to take the plates of finished foods over to the table they had set up. When he spotted Antonio returning to their booth, he waved him over. "Disney, would you do me a favor? We need some Alpha girls over here to, you know, brighten things up," he grinned. "Tell Elysia we want Grace, Natalie, that blonde sophomore chick... I think her name is Julie... and you take your pick on one more." He had seen Grace passing by moments before and was glad that she had finally arrived. He wasn't really partial to the Alpha girls that Elysia sent over since they were all attractive, but he wanted to actually talk to Grace. In return, he would have to send some Beta boys her way. It was something that the brother-sister houses did every year to make a point that as a member of either house, you were guaranteed to associate with the most attractive members of the opposite sex. An extra incentive, as if all of the perks of being an Alpha or Beta weren't already enough.

"Hunter, Bas, Dan, Charlie, any of you want to go hang out at the Alpha booth?" he asked. He was sure that the answer for most of them would be yes. It seemed hard for anyone to pass up an opportunity to socialize with those girls, especially with the feast-worthy amount of food he knew Elysia had brought.

Grace knew that she was going to have to explain herself at some point, and doing so to Delilah was definitely going to be easier than to Elysia. "Oh, don't worry about it. I was up late talking to my parents on the phone and I didn't want to keep anyone up, so I just stayed with Zoey." It seemed like a decent excuse. Only a few people knew of the Drexler family tension involving Andrew, but Delilah was one of them. Although Grace knew that Elysia was close enough with Andrew to actually have the guts to ask him herself if Grace was lying, Delilah wasn't, and the excuse would at least suffice for now.

She looked back towards Elysia, still contemplating whether it would be less painful to just confront the situation now, or let Elysia do it when she wanted to. She decided to put it off for at least a little while longer. Even though she hadn't been acknowledged scooting past the three, she was sure that Elysia had seen her and it seemed better to at least wait until she finished speaking with Emerson and Emery to explain herself. "Why? Is she pissed?" she asked in a purposely calm and careless tone, but obviously referring to Elysia. Grace was good at acting like she didn't care because when it came to confrontations with most people, she really didn't care. She was used to being catty and viscous and rarely feared having to explain herself to anyone but Elysia was certainly one of the people who didn't fall into that category. She was quite possibly the only person that Grace knew her place around, actually.

Her eyes wandered to the booth on the opposite side of the way from them, where she heard loud music playing. She grimaced at the sight of Amelia Park, one of the Zeta sophomores, attempting to coax Zoey into dancing with her. That girl is beyond tacky, she thought, shaking her head in disgust as the girl basically begged for attention by making such a scene. When Naomi joined in and pulled others in with her, it only became more of an eyesore. Typical Zetas. I don't know how the hell Zoey deals with being around that trash all day. Had she caught some of the other Alphas allowing her to hang all over them moments earlier, she certainly would have shut that down. It had nothing to do with homophobia (although some might argue that Grace's relationship with Andrew at least borderlined it) as much as it did with the PDA being a poor representation of the Alpha house.

Delilah quickly nodded when Grace explained that she hadn't returned home last night because she didn't want to wake anyone up. That didn't explain why she was so late to today's events or why she had never responded to the texts she and the other girls had sent her, but Delilah wasn't going to inquire any further. Grace's reasoning was probably a lame excuse at best, and a blatant lie at worst, but Delilah had no reason to believe that Grace wasn't being truthful. If she had to fear judgement from anyone, it was Elysia, and probably Emerson too. Honestly, Delilah had always been a bit intimidated by Emerson. She had shown that she had a sharp tongue and although Delilah would never dare to do something to be on the receiving end of it, the bluntness of her personality always kept Delilah at bay. It wasn't as if she was turned off by it or disliked Emerson in any way, she just never wanted to cross her.

"Um, I'm not sure," was Lila's initial response when Grace wondered aloud if Elysia was upset with her. She hadn't personally spoken to the president all morning and hadn't overheard any questions about Grace from Elysia herself, but the other girls had definitely been abuzz with questions about the girl's whereabouts. It had to be obvious, though, that Elysia wasn't going to appreciate Grace ignoring her schedule and apparently not letting anyone know about it ahead of time. And honestly, Delilah couldn't blame Elysia for that. As the President of the Alpha sorority, she had to be strict. She had to keep things in order and the girls in their place or else they'd end up like the Zetas... who Delilah, like everyone else in the area, glanced towards as music erupted from their booth. She sometimes felt like she was in a hard spot with Grace as her Big Sister. It, of course, meant that she trusted the girl with every secret she had, and that she would be loyal to her regardless of what the older girl did. However, when she vented about Elysia or did things like this, where she was knowingly causing problems, Delilah always struggled to know whether her alliance was supposed to belong to Grace or Elysia. As she glanced back towards Elysia, she hoped that for Grace's sake, whatever she had been talking about with her parents had been important enough to bring some pity.

In an attempt to change the subject, she stepped closer to one of the tables and offered a passing group of girls some cake pops. "If there are any of these left over, I'm desperate to try one," she said to Grace. "The kitchen smelled soooooo good this morning when we were making them. I'm sure they taste like heaven!"

Antonio was busy inspecting his camera and taking a few random photographs when he heard Jack call for him. There was no hesitance, not even a tiny bit, as he snapped to attention. His head came up and he immediately jogged over, giving and up-nod in a silent What's up as he looked around, snapping a few more pictures. A smile came across his face at Jack's request and that smile soon became a smirk. β€œYou got it, SeΓ±or Presidente,” he laughed. He wasn't really surprised that Jack had asked for Grace, but Antonio had noticed that she and Emerson were the only ones missing from the earlier photograph. Still, being sent to go talk to Elysia gave him a chance to flirt with her and the other girls from Alpha as well as gorge on the sweets that were brought. He turned away from Jack and was headed right back to the Alpha booth, overhearing the older guy call for a few of their brothers to enter the trade-off.

He saw that Emerson had joined Elysia and Emery was part of the group as well. He rolled his eyes at the sight of Emerson, knowing that a glare was on its way. No fucks were given as he interrupted, not bothering to apologize either. β€œHey, Sia! Jack wants Grace, Natalie, and Julie over at the booth. He's sending Hunter, Bas, Dan, and Charlie.” He went silent a moment as Emery was the first to leave, looking between he and Elysia before shaking his head and smiling at Elysia. She snapped back to attention and smiled as she noticed Emerson and Antonio had joined after Emery had taken his strawberry and left, confirming that he'd enjoy hanging out later. This made her smile and nod before turning her attention back to Antonio and Emerson.

She took a few moments to register everything, noticing that Grace had arrived. Finally. Seeing Grace reminded her that Antonio had asked something, causing her to shake her head, a habit she hard formed while bringing herself down from her thoughts. β€œNo. Grace and Natalie are... Grounded. Julie can go. Also, take Diana, and Jemma and Cassidy.” She spoke loudly so that the other Alphas could hear her, motioning for the mentioned girls at the same time.

ImageThey all put on smiles and headed towards the Beta booth, immediately putting on their game faces by flirting with every male that came by, whether they were rushers or current members. Elysia immediately shooed Antonio away and pulled out her phone, texting back to Karma while she spoke to Emerson, ignoring her girlfriend's text since she was already right there. β€œYeah, Karmilla has entranced a few for us,” she said as she nodded towards the junior who was speaking excitedly to four girls that crowded around her with bright eyes and big smiles. Elysia gave a soft smile, kissing Emerson on her cheek.

β€œYou had a big debate last night – Don't worry about it.” She turned and spotted Alexandri speaking to Naomi, her brow lifting some. As he apologized to her, Elysia could only smirk before putting two fingers into her mouth, issuing a high pitched whistle and pointing at Jack, motioning for him to come over and then to Karma. She issued Amelia a wink and a smirk at the compliment of the food before continuing over to the front of the booth, scanning the crowd of girls that were coming over. The cake had already been cut into and the cake pops were nearly gone. Antonio had busied himself with taking photographs.

β€œPrecioso! Now, big smiles... Say Alpha!,” he encouraged as the Alphas and rushers smushed together happily for a photograph, giggles bubbling up from them. Once the photo had been taken, he checked out the image before his vision went dark. His lips twitched into a smile as one voice rose above the others. Gripping the camera, he maneuvered himself so that he was behind Paige now, wrapping an arm around her waist with a laugh. β€œBuenas tardes, mi belleza,” he purred in her ear with a thick accent. He chuckled softly and kissed the side of her head firmly before releasing her. β€œYou know, you could get in trouble talking to me in public like this,” he teased, his fingers digging gently into her ribs as he tickled her.

Elysia rolled her eyes softly at the encounter before her gaze fell upon Amelia and her dancing. She was more than familiar with the choreography, the sight of it causing her to smile some as she stood with arms crossed. The attention the young dancer gave her elicited a blown kiss before she turned to get down to business. β€œNatalie and Grace, you two are on refreshments duty – Offer something to everyone. If they have questions about the chapter, send them to Delilah, Emerson, or literally anyone else.”

Her words caused the other girls to stop a moment. There was no malice or even a hint of anger in her voice but most of them had been around long enough to tell when she was displeased with someone. She ignored them and made a shooing motion with her hands before addressing the others. β€œThis is my last year and I intend to leave you guys with the very best. We've seen a lot of potentials so far but we can always do better. We've got some Betas coming over to draw some eyes, so you know what to do.” She ushered everyone back into action, putting on a smile as she waited for Jack, linking arms with Emerson. β€œIt's our last year – Let's make it the best.”

Grace felt like rolling her eyes at how Delilah switched the subject so obviously, trying to mask whatever fear she had of Elysia with how great the cake pops were. She didn't, only because she appreciated the girl's efforts to act like things were okay, even when Grace knew otherwise. Although Delilah could be detrimentally naive about most things, her positive attitude was also a breath of fresh air, and Grace knew that was especially true when compared to her own. Maybe it was why they had clicked so well last year when Delilah was rushing. "They do look good..." she said, examining the desert table for herself before quickly switching positions on the matter. "But bikini season never ends in Miami, and I'm not going to let these deserts ruin my look this year." She glanced around idly before running her fingers through her hair and mentally praising herself for doing so well with her appearance in such little time.

Her good mood was quickly disappeared when Elysia spoke up and put her and Natalie in charge of the refreshments table. Luckily, she hadn't heard Antonio state that Jack had requested her for the Beta table because she certainly would have responded differently. Now, inside she was scowling, but outside, her face remained emotionless and eventually brightened with a fake smile. She didn't respond to Elysia, partly because it didn't seem necessary, and partly because she was sure that whatever she said would be passive aggressive enough to get her into more trouble. She did manage to offer Delilah a 'kill me now' expression, but changed it back into a smile as soon as she turned to face the rest of the girls. Once she reached the refreshment table, she glanced over at Natalie who seemed to be equally displeased with their situation but was less careful about showing it than Grace was. She had rushed with the blonde, making them both juniors, and although Natalie wasn't a favorite in the house, Grace didn't hate her. In fact, she was one of the best people to gossip with, and like her, she was good at changing faces when it came to being respectful to Elysia's face and less-than-so behind her back.

"Can you believe her? Sending us over here like we're sophomores!" Natalie ranted, but luckily, in a hushed tone. Like a good Alpha, she managed to do it with a smile on her face as they handed lemonade to passing freshman.

As soon as they got a moment alone, Grace nodded. "She's obviously mad at me for showing up late. What did you do?" She was sure it had to do with Natalie's habitual acts of theft in the house but waited for the girl's explanation.

"Literally nothing! I've been doing everything she asks me to do all week and I get stuck here?" She paused mid rant to hand a glass of sweet tea to a boy who had stopped in front of them. As soon as he was gone, she resumed. "And told not to answer any questions about the house? Tell me that wasn't so bitchy when she basically said that Delilah was more fit to answer questions than us." Although she thoroughly doubted Natalie's claim that she was sent to the table for no reason at all, the girl made a good point. Did being late and having sticky fingers suddenly make them less fit as Alphas than Delilah, who had been a member for less than a year. Possibly, but Grace wasn't going to accept that. "And, you know, if anyone deserves to be over here, it's Emerson. She only showed up like five minutes before you anyway."

The last part of her rambling caused Grace to raise an eyebrow. Emerson's reason for being late was much more understandable than Grace's, but she didn't know that, or care to know. In her mind, it just made sense that Elysia would obviously give special treatment to her girlfriend and although Grace seemed to clash less with Emerson than she did with Elysia, she felt like she should have expected this. "So typical," Grace muttered under her breath. Although Natalie was shameless with her gossiping, Grace was more careful. Even though they were speaking in near whispers and none of the other girls would be able to hear, she didn't trust Natalie any more with her dirty gossip than she would with her wallet.

As Antonio left to get some Alpha girls and a few of the Beta boys headed over to switch places with them, Jack returned to grilling. When Miles approached and called out to Kyle, the sophomore grilling next to him, Jack rolled his eyes, but nodded in reassurance that it was fine to hand over some food. He opted to pass on returning a light insult to the Sigma President, but only because his phone went off. He had received a text from Naomi, inviting him to the beach in a rather forced manner. He saw right through it though, and couldn't stop himself from grinning as he glanced towards the Zeta booth. The radio host wasn't situated with the rest of her sorority though, which wasn't exactly shocking. Although the Zetas were her family, Naomi was surprisingly close with many members of other Greek houses. Luckily, she wasn't too close with any of the other Betas where he had to worry about any of his boys suspecting anything.

To: Naomi
Hmm... I'm sure you're dying for me to come. I'll see if I can fit you into my schedule Malone. Let u know as soon as my personal assistant gets back to me on today's plans.

A whistle caught his attention right after he sent the text, and as his head turned towards the source, he spotted Elysia motioning him and Karma over. He nodded to show that he got the message, but waited a moment until his steaks were finished and plated before approaching her. By now, Karma had already said something to Elysia and was heading back towards Naomi. "Day one and it looks like Karma's already picked the Zetas over you," he smirked.

As a few Alpha girls greeted him and strutted back towards his table, he cocked his head to the side to check them out before turning back to Elysia. Julie was there, along with a few other hot girls, but Grace and Natalie, two who he had specifically requested, were not. "Didn't Tony tell you we wanted Grace and Natalie?" he asked innocently, as if he didn't already know that Elysia had probably purposely excluded Grace from his group of Alpha girls. If her small remarks about how he could do better than Grace weren't enough of a sign that she didn't think the two were good for each other, the emailed lists of better girls that she had sent him got the message out loud and clear. Still, Jack wasn't going to just give up on it because of Elysia. Grace was the type of girl his parents would want him to bring home and even though he wasn't mentally and emotionally attracted to her yet, he wanted to be. If he planned on letting his parents down at some point this year, having a cookie-cutter girlfriend like Grace around would definitely help to lighten the blow of that.

The thoughts of dating Grace instinctively caused him to look back towards Naomi. "Let's hit the beach after this. The sophomores will clean up and we can go relax before the jamboree tonight. God knows you need it," he grinned as he nudged her lightly. How she was wearing a blazer in this heat was beyond him. Then again, girls like Elysia were good about going through a little bit of pain for a lot of beauty. He had to respect her for that.

Daniel was seen talking to some random guys about the chapter. The guys seemed very intrigued and Daniel just went ahead and handed them pamphlets then shook hands with them as they walked away, not really stopping at another booth. "Hook, line and sinker." He said while walking back over to the grills and seeing how the guys were doing. "Everything is smelling good you guys." He told them with a soft smile then eyed Jack as he called his name again. "Hell yeah!" He shouted then made his trek over towards the Alpha table. Though, he stopped in his tracks as his cell phone chimed and he had a message from his girlfriend, basically saying that she misses him. He texted her back the similar message then placed his phone back into his pocket.

He finally made it over to the Alpha's table and smiled towards them, offering a small wave. "Hello there, Alphas." He said with a soft smile to follow. "Jack sent us over here to attract some people to the booth." He said with a slight chuckle then pulled out his cell phone again, seeing that it was a group text from Naomi, something about the beach before the jamboree. Daniel thought about it for a minute then decided to text her back.

To: Naomi
I am so there!

He hit the send button then placed his phone back to where it was. Daniel turned heel as some girls came over and asked him about the Alpha chapter. "Well, I don't know much but it's prestigious reputation speaks for itself." He pointed towards Elysia, the Alpha's president while linking arms with the two females and walking them over towards her. "These ladies were inquiring about the Alpha chapter." Daniel unlinked his arms from them then pointed towards Elysia again. "This is the person to talk to about the Alpha chapter." He eyed Elysia with a smile then wondered around the Alpha's booth and stood there with a beaming smile.

His eyes trailed over towards a female that he doesn't think he has the pleasure of meeting yet. He walked over there towards the refreshment table and stood there in front of the two females. "So, how are things going over here?" He'd ask with a smile while basically rocking on the balls of his feet and sticking his hands into his pockets.

Her freshman year was off to a shaky start. Dori was scheduled to move in with the rest of the freshman yesterday, but she didn't make it to the school until the early hours of this morning. The first hitch was expected: her foster parents couldn't afford (or didn't want to front the cash, as Dori would say) to have her fly straight from Kansas City to Miami, so she was put on a multi-stop flight that was supposed to land in Fort Lauderdale around three in the afternoon on Monday. She would then have to take an hour long bus ride to Fulton. It was an inconvenience compared to how simple things could have been if she had just flown into Miami or had parents who would drive her and her luggage down, but had things gone as planned, she would have been fine with it. In a perfectly "just my luck" fashion, however, things didn't. Her flight left Kansas an hour late due to storms, and was delayed once again for two additional hours during her layover in Detroit. When she finally landed in Florida, it was nearly seven o'clock and to make matters worse, two of the three bags of luggage she had brought were missing. After three hours of dealing with customer service and hitting dead end after dead end, the bags were discovered in a different terminal. By now, no buses were running the long route to Miami and Dori was forced to spend the night in the airport hotel, which luckily, was complimentary as an apology for the luggage mishap.

This morning, she took the first bus to Miami and after a bit of rush hour traffic, arrived at the university at around eight-thirty in the morning. She was flustered from the previous day's chaos but consistently reminded herself that she needed to remain positive. She was finally doing something with her life and if she started on a bad note, there was no way that she was going to excel here. If nothing else, at least the weather in Miami was delightful, she considered. After hauling her luggage to the wrong dormitory and then finally to the correct one, she managed to check-in and get all of her paperwork sorted out before finally arriving in her room for the year. She had been lucky enough to be placed in one of the newer dormitories so while she shared a common room and bathroom with two other girls, they each had small, but separate bedrooms. The girls' names were listed as Jessica and Karma, but when Dori got to the dorm room, neither girl were there. She helped herself to the only unclaimed bedroom and although it was certainly a step up from some of the dorms she had toured last year, it was still your typical barren dormitory. Her first step of the day was making her bed, which consisted of putting on a simple set of white sheets and a purple comforter that brought a pop of color to the room. She hadn't brought any posters or photos to hang on the wall, so besides setting up some of her school supplies on her desk and plugging her phone in to charge, there wasn't much left to do. She wasn't satisfied with the room's look, but she didn't have much time to fret over it anyway. She realized how hungry she actually was and after fingering through the folder filled with papers that the dorm adviser had given her, she saw that there was an activities fair scheduled to start within the next few hours.

After changing out of the casual tank top and gym shorts that she had arrived in and into a more presentable outfit, she left the dormitory and navigated her way across campus to one of the dining halls. She was on a limited meal plan but after such a painful commute, she wasn't about to skimp on some comfort food. A bagel, blueberry muffin and cup of yogurt later, and she was finally on her way to the Activity Fair. For once, this destination wasn't hard to find. The entire grassy air of the courtyard was filled with different stations representing different organizations. Dori was definitely interested in getting involved with clubs on campus so she took her time as she moved from booth to booth. She put her name and email address own for a fair amount of clubs: the Spanish club, study-abroad program, fashion club, African heritage club, community service leaders, and intramural basketball to name a few. Although she didn't plan on actually dedicating herself to every one of them, she was interested in at least going to the first meeting for each of them and figuring out if she wanted to be involved after giving it a shot. Plus, nearly everyone she spoke to at the booths seemed outgoing and kind. Even if she didn't plan on joining every club, at least she was making friendly acquaintances along the way.

As she approached the end of the courtyard, she found the most amount of people and as she got closer, she realized that it was because this was the Greek life area. There were six booths representing the three fraternities and three sororities and although passing the fraternity booths was easy, she wasn't sure where to start with the sororities. Hell, she wasn't even sure if she wanted to join a sorority! Each of them had their own unique look but they all shared the appearance of being well put together, especially compared to some of the club booths she had passed earlier. Between the apparent dress code among the girls and the elegant display of foods, the Alpha Theta Pi booth struck her as being the "royalty" sorority. The girls all looked very prim and proper - the type who Dori imagined would attend dΓ©butante balls and take etiquette lessons on their days off. It was probably far from true, but their coordinated outfits and over-the-top food tables gave her the impression that they topped the school's social hierarchy. When she stopped to get a glass of lemonade from the table, the two girls working the refreshment table seemed to solidify that image for her. The blonde and brunette were both gorgeous, as was the boy conversing with them, but their smiles and attitudes seemed superficial. Although Dori didn't engage in conversation with either and continued on her way after grabbing the drink, she got the sense that they weren't in great moods. She wasn't aware of the reasons behind it, but it didn't give her the best vibes. As she continued though, she caught the eye of another Alpha, who was probably of Asian-decent and appeared to be closer in age with her. This girl seemed to be much more pleasant, but still thinking the house probably wasn't for her, she just took one of the pamphlets that the girl was distributing and offered a cheerful, "thanks!" before walking to the next booth.

Despite having a big breakfast, Dori couldn't resist plating a loaded baked potato and slider when she reached the Zeta table. Maybe the smell of the Betas barbecuing had something to do with it, but suddenly, she was ready for lunch. "This is amazing," she gushed to the brunette manning the table, after almost finishing the baked potato in a few bites. In an effort to make it clear that she wasn't just there to mooch off of the free food, she took one of the Zeta fliers off of the table and gave it a quick scan. "So, do I have it right that you guys are like, the party sorority?" she grinned, then eyeing the Jell-O shots on the other side of the table.

"Of course it's a great idea, I came up with it," Zoey responded with a smile as she watched Naomi tap away at her phone screen as she invited the others. She pulled her phone out to do the same thing, but since she shared a majority of her friends with Naomi, there was only one friend who she could think of who the invite probably hadn't been extended to. Grace. Just as she began to text her, she received a text from the Alpha reading, "Elysia hates me. Come say hi to me <3". "Speaking of the devil..." she muttered, barely noticing as Naomi disappeared again from the booth. Grace's text wasn't really surprising, especially since Zoey had suspected something was up when she didn't spot her at the Alpha table earlier. However, she didn't exactly have a whole lot of sympathy for Grace in this instance either. From what Zoey knew of her, Elysia could be a complete bitch, but Grace was no sheep either. Besides, she had chosen the Alpha house for a reason and had probably dealt with girls far worse than Elysia when she was rushing.

To: Grace
I'm too tired to get up :P. Come to the beach before the jamboree? Jack's gonna be there ;D

She may not have commented on it, but Zoey had definitely caught Naomi's eyes lingering on Jack moments before. Naomi didn't have to hide it from her though, since Zoey was well aware of whatever it was she had with the Beta President. The mere fact that both of them hid their relationship from the rest of the world was enough of an indication to Zoey that they shouldn't be involved with each other though. Even though Zoey thought that Jack would be lucky to get a girl like Naomi, she was going to do everything in her power to prevent Naomi from stooping to that level. She had no need to doing anything outside of the bedroom with an ass like Jack Reynolds. Maybe that was why she didn't mind playing along with Grace's crush on Jack, and at times like now, even encouraging it. When she saw Naomi giving him looks like that, she feared that her best friend really was falling for him and if she had to toss someone just as selfish onto him to prevent that, she would.

The traffic around their booth had slowed momentarily, but just as she was about to text Sam and demand he hurry up with their food, a girl who had been hovering over the food table spoke up. Zoey glanced up, slightly surprised to see someone show up alone, as most of the freshman tended to travel in packs during the first few weeks on campus. Everyone was trying to find their niche and making friends was an essential part of having a fun freshman year. This girl didn't appear to be bothered by traveling solo and was actually quite friendly.

"Our President, Naomi, made them so I'm not surprised," Zoey smiled, tempted to take one for herself since Sam had apparently fallen off of the face of the earth with her food. "I don't know if anything here can compare to the nachos she makes when we're wasted though," she added, more to herself than to the freshman. Anything seemed to taste good to Zoey after shotgunning a few beers, though.

The girl had definitely heard the remark though, because her next comment was, "So, do I have it right that you guys are like, the party sorority?"

"I mean, we definitely know how to have a good time," she responded, trying to be careful with her words. Maybe she was just in one of her maternal moods, but she felt like the freshman in front of her was still young. At her age, Zoey probably already had the tolerance level of a 30-year-old man, but she wasn't going to corrupt anyone. Not until they officially pledged Zeta, anyway. She leaned closer, "Unless you want to spend the next four years in a stuffy blazer or sitting alone in the library, Zetas your best bet, though." Okay, maybe she was biased, but she wasn't in the mood to recite the list of charity events they volunteered at last year and how being a Zeta would help her professionally down the line. Besides, Zoey was sure that at least the Alphas were going to be ruthless in their attempt to get every decent-looking girl to rush Alpha. Not because they planned on allowing them all to join, but just to be able to say that they rejected an insane number of them to make themselves look more exclusive.

This girl seemed like Zeta material, anyway. Realizing that she hadn't even caught the girl's name yet, she decided to introduce herself. "I'm Zoey, by the way. A senior Zeta," she reached out a hand to Dori. "Let me know if you have any questions, and the other Zetas are floating around too if you want to talk to them. Amy's a sophomore, super nice... she was dancing over here earlier but I don't know where she ran off to. She's a good one to talk to though, so if you see her, feel free to ask her anything. She just rushed last year so she'll tell you that we aren't too mean," she winked. "And obviously Naomi's good to talk to too. She just ran off somewhere but if you have any major questions, stick around for a few and she'll be back."

She had ignored Sam's interruption minutes before but once she finished her semi-helpful response to Dori, she acknowledged him. "Took you long enough," she said, wanting to sound angry but not being able to sound more than slightly annoyed as she made eye contact with him.

β€œNah. She's just entertaining the thought and making new friends. She'll be an Alpha for sure. Bet it'll piss off Grace if I made Karma President instead of her.” She smirked on the last part, almost sneering before flipping her hair over her shoulder and continuing. β€œAnd, yes. He did tell me. However, Grace showed up five hours late and didn't even come home last night. Nobody knows where she was. Zoey probably has an alibi. Formerly known as a lie to cover for her ass. So she's on refreshment duty. As for Natalie... She's been stealing again and I'm going to make an example out of her later today. And it won't be just handling clean-up duty either.” She gave a shrug of her shoulders before sighing, shaking her head. β€œAlso, yes. The beach sounds awesome. Now, shoo. I don't want you over here making googoo eyes at the dunce.” She shooed Jack away, thinking that a beach trip would be wonderful. Plus, it was always fun to crash a Zeta party.

She turned as Daniel brought a group of girls over, immediately giving a bright smile. β€œThanks, Danny,” she exclaimed before offering the girls some of the food laid out. β€œHey! I'm --”

β€œYou're Elysia Hanta! Your mom is Isi Hanta, right?!” The smaller of the five girls exclaimed loudly and Sia couldn't help but to smirk just the tiniest bit. She was an Alpha; she loved recognition. β€œYou are correct, young lady. I'm also the President of this chapter. Now, I know you may be tempted to pledge on my merit, but I do encourage you to explore Zeta Nu Delta and Theta Chi before making your choice. But, I'll go ahead and give you the deets on who's who mkay?” She gave the girls a dazzling smile, allowing her ego to be stroked by their attentive and adoring gazes and excited giggling. β€œAlpha Theta Pi is a house brimming with legacies. As you can see, we pride ourselves in appearance and formalities. You'll find that most of our girls are in possession of bright minds and excellent leadership qualities. We host a number of bonding activities on and off campus and concerning job opportunities, neither of the other two compete. With our name on your resume, you're guaranteed a top notch employment at a number of places. Especially since plenty of us have family ties with very prestigious employers.”

She turned towards the other girls and began to indicate some to stress her point. β€œDelilah Young is the daughter of Lan and Nathaniel Young. Those of you who are interested in the medical field will likely know their names. And then you have Julie Matthews; Her parents are two of the best lawyers east of the Mississippi. Diana Jenko; Her mother is Leila Jenko, who I'm sure you're familiar with from CSI: Dallas. Her father is the award-winning director, Michael Jenko. Then you've got our lovely twins, Jemma and Cassidy Rivers. They come from a family of well-renowned thespians.”

Elysia very much enjoyed bragging about her girls, pointing out a few more before turning to see the group of girls had expanded by about a dozen or more, lighting up her face. β€œYou'll find many girls of many talents here and despite the rumors you may have heard, a prestigious family name is not needed to pledge. Nor are foul attitudes welcome. We look for young women who are ready to tackle and change the world while remaining poised and graceful. We offer you the tools you need to succeed in life as well as a lasting bond of sisterhood. If you'd like to find out more about us, we're holding a few events this week. We'll be at the jamboree tonight, we're having a foam party on a boat tomorrow night, a brunch on Thursday, and a hike on Friday. Don't worry about remembering it all – You can find everything in the pamphlets as well as our Facebook, Twitter, and blog.”

Antonio watched as Elysia worked the crowd, moving between the Alpha and Beta booths to capture both video and photography footage. As the girls dispersed after taking numerous photos with the Alphas and adding many of them on their social media sites, Antonio made his way to Elysia with a grin. β€œI'm surprised none of them asked for an autograph,” he chuckled. She only rolled her eyes. β€œWhy would then when they can boast that they know me personally? I never asked for Arturo Vitolli's autograph,” she pointed out. He nodded in agreement and they went their separate ways to finish their day. She eventually shed her blazer with the other girls. While the original afternoon heat was of no bother to them, it only got hotter and she couldn't wait for the time for the beach to come. But it seemed that the hours flew and they were soon packing up shop. The Alphas had dispersed before the other Greek houses, Elysia wanting to take care of business before heading out. She pulled out her phone and texted Karma as she walked with the others back to their cars with her sorority and a number of helping hands in tow.

To: mitaksi ki
karma-babe! heyyy. we're headed out early. gotta take leftovers to the soup kitchen & have a meeting. c u @ the beach β™₯ β™₯ β™₯

Location: Alpha Theta Pi Sorority House
Time: 3:15pm

β€œAlright, loves! Great job at the booth today. I saw a lot of potentials, but we've still got a lot more time to get to know them personally.” Elysia stood in the center of the common area with her hands clasped together. β€œYou guys worked really hard today and I'm very proud of you. For that, we're treating ourselves to the beach. More specifically, we're crashing a Zeta beach party. But, before that, we've got something serious to discuss.”

She spared no time before turning her gaze to Natalie, a cheery smile on her face. β€œNat, darling, you'll find that all of your things have been packed and are waiting in your room. I really stress the your part. Everything that you've borrowed and stolen has been returned to the rightful owners. As of this very moment, you're no longer a sister of Alpha Theta Pi and I never want to see your face in this house again. Really, don't even come to the parties. If you decide to do something stupid, perhaps talk trash behind our backs or attempt to slander the sorority or anyone within... Well, you'll find that life will become quite difficult for you after. You'll find that you have new dormitory arrangements, the information is with your things. Payment has been handled for this semester because I'm really that nice. Now, shoo.”

She spoke in gentle tones, her trademark attitude when addressing "problem girls". She found that it was often more effective than using bitch tones or yelling. She and nearly everyone watched as Natalie sputtered for words to protest but inevitably came up blank and stormed up to her room to gather her things. Everyone watched then as her gaze fell to Grace. She withheld a smirk and instead retained a commanding air. β€œGrace Drexler. We've been planning this for quite some time now and for over twenty-four hours we were up preparing. We cooked, we cleaned, we primped, and we rehearsed. However, I don't recall you being here through any of that. Oh... Because you weren't. Not only did you miss our preparations, you also missed setting up. To top it all off, you found it acceptable to show up five hours late and act as though you'd done nothing wrong. Not even an apology. That was really quite rude. Extremely rude, actually.”

She paused, mostly for dramatic effect, small part to gather herself and keep herself from letting anger seep in and make her do something stupid. β€œThis is not the first time you've acted in a way that is unbecoming of an Alpha. You're a Junior so you should know better. Instead, you flaunt your family's money and the sorority's name as though they are "get out of jail free" cards for inexcusable behavior. Long story short: You act like a bitch who can't be touched. But the fact of the matter is, everyone suffers consequences in life. Your little buddy Zoey might apologize for your silly behavior, but that shit shan't happen here. Don't worry -- I won't give you the boot. Not yet. I'll give you the chance to prove yourself. However, there will be punishment.” Her gaze flickered to Delilah for a moment and she couldn't stop her perfectly glossed lips from curling into a smirk.

β€œBeing a Big is more than simply having a younger member to adore you. Nor is it the recruitment of minions who will cover for your ass when you step out of line, nor are Littles pets. A Little is a sister. She is someone to set an example for and help throughout her years with this family and a Little should look to their Big the most. Many of you Bigs, as I, can agree that it's a very special bond that is formed -- Bigs have quite an influence over Littles. A Big is a mentor, an advisor, a hand to hold when shit gets tough. Bigs are the ones that Littles turn to before anyone else. A Big is a role model and should be a shining example of what their chapter represents. Unfortunately, you're not a role model. At least... Not a good one. In fact, you're a terrible role model and I really don't want you tainting Delilah. Or anyone else for that matter.” It was clear where this conversation and she soon lifted her chin, her tone dropping from gentle to stern and cold. β€œAs of this moment... Your privileges of being a Big are revoked until further notice. You're barely fit to be an Alpha, much less a Big. Delilah will join Karmilla as my Little now while you reevaluate your deplorable behavior.”
