secrets:
Junior year, Riley found herself in a relationship with a female counselor which was a no-no for many reasons. About halfway through the year, the principal found them out and threatened to fire the counselor and suspend Riley. Of course, the bastard had a plan that kept both of them at the school and satisfied some twisted part of him. He agreed to let them both stay as long as Riley did whatever he requested.

appearance:
Riley is on the shorter side--5' 3"-- but she tends to wear thick-soled shoes to make herself appear taller. She has dark brown hair that she keeps short on the sides and longer in the middle. Her eyebrows are a hazelnut brown color with hints of gold that smolders in the light. She has thick dark brown eyebrows that enhance her expressions. She has a superior resting bitch face, but her face lights up when she smiles. She has dimples in her cheeks when her smile is wide. Her style tends to range from comfortable--jeans, a tee, and a scarf and/or sweater-- or more punk-- band shirts, nose piercing, ripped jeans, and a leather jacket. She has a few piercings in her ears, but she mostly wears either small hoops or studs in them.
personality:
Riley is a bit of a two-sided coin. On the one hand, she can be just as she appears: a bitch of a girl who likes to break the rules and rebelled against any and all authority. On the other, she can also be incredibly sweet and good. Honestly, it depends on the day and the mood she's in. She only really keeps up the first persona as a way to keep away those who have ill intentions. With those she truly can trust, she's more open and carefree. She laughs and smiles a lot, and she's more than willing to do the right thing. In her final months of school, her bitchy persona had taken almost a permanent position in her life. She was counting the days to be free of the school and her servitude to the school principal. Riley is overly curious which gets her into a lot of trouble. Although, it does make her interest in a career in journalism all the more interesting for her. She's stubborn as a mule unless something she cares about is severely jeopardized. She has a silly sense of humor and enjoys playing pranks on others.
History:
Rilynn Anne O'Hara was born in a small town in Texas but was moved to the town she now calls home not too long after. Her father had a job opportunity that he couldn't refuse. It meant a lot more money for their family and more opportunity in the workplace. Riley never paid much attention to her father's job and even to this day, she wasn't entirely sure what he did, but she knew she enjoyed being in this town.
From a young age, she knew she was different than the other kids. She was very much a tomboy from early on, but what made her feel different, was the way that a girl in her kindergarten class made her feel. She was small and sweet with soft blonde curls pulled into pigtails and a permanent smile on her face. Riley did anything to get the girl's attention. When she moved away, it devastated Riley to the point that she refused to go to first grade. Her parents finally talked her into going and she was glad. Within a few months, she wondered why she had ever cared so much in the first place. It wasn't until middle school that she realized she was gay. While other girls crushed on the boys in school and hung posters of boy bands on their ceilings, Riley crushed on a few of the girls and cared very little for boy bands. In fact, she thought a lot of their music was way too cheesy and honestly a little creepy.
Around this time is when she made friends with a girl named Lyn Montgomery. Lyn was different too, but not in the same way as Riley. Lyn was just very... blunt. She was sarcastic and was quick to throw a punch. Riley admired her spirit and took to her quickly, much to her parent's chagrin. Part of Riley's resting bitch face is because of Lyn.
In high school, Riley was determined to do well in school. She studied hard for every test and did all the homework as perfectly as she could manage. In fact, her grades were so good, whenever she broke a rule, the school refused to give her a detention because they didn't want to "ruin her future". White girl privilege. She hated it, but it had its perks. Honestly, it meant she could skip a class or two and hang with Lyn.
It took her a few years to tell her parents, but she had a pretty good relationship with them, and only hoped that her sexuality wouldn't change that. Hoped like hell. The day she decided to tell them, she was nearly sick. She was shaking and sweating and her mom had actually remarked on what appeared to be a slight green tinge to her complexion. When Riley finally told them, she blurted it like word vomit and nearly ran from the room. Both of her parents just shrugged and said "We know." She was surprised until they told her how she reacted to that little blonde girl from kindergarten moving and suddenly everything made sense. It all clicked together. Her parents are super supportive and she's so very thankful to have them.
In fact, it was Ms. Ravinsel who talked her into doing so.
Ms. Elena Ravinsel is one of the school's guidance counselors that was assigned to last names A-H, and she was the first real relationship Riley had ever had. Riley had originally visited her office to go over college plans and what she needed to do as well as get some guidance on the stress and anxiety that had been building in her the past couple of years. The two hit it off right away and Elena had been a major help to Riley. Riley started visiting her whenever she could and eventually realized there were deeper feelings there than should be between a student and a staff member. Elena was fresh out of college so she wasn't that much older than Riley, but the relationship that blossomed between them was still... very much against school policy and the law.
It lasted about six months and then the principal caught them together in Elena's office, a hand up each other's shirts. Riley was terrified that Elena would be fired on the spot. She didn't care about what happened to her considering it all had been her idea. She had made the first move and she had been the one to convince Elena that they would be alright. Instead, the principal offered them clemency as long as Riley did as he requested of her. At first, it was running a few errands. Then it was writing certain stories for the school newspaper and sabotaging other stories that made him or the school look bad. Then the requests turned... unsavory. Sexual. He convinced her that no one would believe her if she told anyone and that if she tried to explain everything, she knew she would have to out her relationship with Elena which would not only get her fired but arrested. So she did everything he asked. She didn't even put up much of a fight after six months.
Now it was senior year and she was almost in the clear. Almost legal. Almost free... and then he was murdered and her entire life was turned on its head.
