{{ General Appearance }}
Sage is fair-skinned with soft facial features and a truly genuine smile. He wears his hair long and generally messy, but he doesn't skip a single day when it came to brushing it. He has thin but toned limbs and a lanky body; however, he has natural strength in his body that can't be outwardly seen per se. His hair falls into his face more often than not, and he can't stand when his mother makes him pull it up into a ponytail. Sage admires mutants, always wishing her were one, so in an attempt to be different, he regularly paints his nails navy blue. His mother would scold him for it, but eventually she gave up fighting him on it. However, when he got into her makeup kit and attempted to "paint" his face, she punished him severely. He still has the scar on his ribs from where his mother lashed him for it with a thin belt.
When he isn't wearing the Academy uniform, he prefers to dress very casually, usually opting for a t-shirt of some sort, a pair of jeans, sneakers, and his favourite track jacket. He also wears a tattered handkerchief around his neck that belonged to his father, and besides his jacket, it's his favourite article of clothing. Most of his clothes are hand-me-downs from his older brother, Basil, but the track jacket he normally adorns himself in was the first piece of clothing, besides undergarments, that had been boughten just for him. The only other thing he wears on a regular basis is his work uniform for his job at a local food market, a black, long sleeve button up shirt, black pants, and non-shiny black shoes. He doesn't particularly enjoy the fact that he has to wear a uniform for the Academy since he has to wear one for his job. He doesn't understand the need for everyone to look the same when they were just learning.

Sage has a thoughtful and optimistic outlook on life, and he truly sees the good in everyone and anything, unless they prove him otherwise. He is friendly towards others, however he generally chooses to keep to himself. This is partially due to his shyness and part of it has to do with how quiet he tends to be. He isn't very outspoken and typically chooses to keep his thoughts and opinions to himself.
He believes that everyone has good and bad in them, though he thinks that which you choose to act on says what kind of person you are. It takes a lot to bring Sage down, as he is a positive thinker and is usually oblivious to the bad things unless they are practically thrown in his face. His positivity attracts people to him, which he considers to be a sort of unwanted attention since he usually wants to be left alone.
{{ Likes }}
β Reading - To Sage, reading is a complete escape from reality, and it's the only way he truly feels free to any extent. His favourite genre is fantasy, as he likes to imagine what the worlds would be like.
β Tea before bed - Nighttime tea is the only thing that helps Sage's insomnia, and even though he doesn't particularly like the taste of it, he loves that it helps him sleep.
β Clear Skies - Sage enjoys sunny days because the sun makes his skin warm, and it makes the grass smell different. It's also on days like these where it's almost possible to see over the edge without being considered an Irrational.
β Writing - Sage enjoys scribbling stories and poems down, as his mind is always filled with ideas. However, he hasn't ever finished any of these, for he usually ends up thinking they're childish and tosses them away.
β Mutants - Sage is considered to have an unnatural obsession with Mutants, or at least that's what his mother says. Although he's simply just fascinated by them and wishes that he could be more like them.
{{ Dislikes }}
β Coffee - Sage's mother drinks coffee every morning, but Sage can't stand the bitter taste or smell of the stuff.
β Rainy Days - Sage can't stand when it rains because he knows it means he'll have a significantly lesser chance of seeing anything over the edge.
β Crowds - Sage tends to feel claustrophobic in large crowds and feels like he's suffocating, so he tries to avoid the situations as best he can.
β Conformity - Sage doesn't enjoy wearing uniforms of any kind, although he'll wear them when he has to. He'd rather wear what he wants and look different than the general populace.
β Loud Situations - Sage can't stand when people or things are loud because it makes it to where he can't think.
{{ Talents }}
β Writing - Even though Sage doesn't believe his scribblings are worth a second though, he actually has an affinity for writing.
β Empathy - Sage is very good at reading people and their emotions. He can easily tell if something is wrong, even if they blatantly say that "it's nothing."
β Cleaning - Sage is very meticulous when it comes to keeping things clean; he can't stand when things get dirty.
β Organization - Sage has OCD, so he's great when it comes to organizing things. Whether it's a something like how a stack of papers looks, how furniture is placed in a room, or how a pencil is placed on a desk.
β Analyzation - Sage always assesses a situation before going head first into it. He analyzes what's going on and tries to come up with an optimal solution for it.
{{ Flaws }}
β Pushover - Sage is easily persuaded into doing things for people, even though he doesn't interact with people often. It's usually his mother that "abuses" this flaw, however.
β Confidence - Sage has a major lack of confidence, mostly in himself.
β OCD - Sage's OCD, however helpful with organization, cripples him in more ways than one. He has to count to certain numbers when he does most daily tasks; the number usually corresponds with whatever it is he's doing.
β Indecisiveness - Sage has a difficult time making choices and decisions, no matter how small of a thing it is.
β Naivety - Sage has a very naive outlook on life, which is mostly due to his optimism.
{{ Fears }}
β Monophobia (Fear of being alone.) - Although Sage usually prefers solitude, he can't imagine the idea of being alone forever. Just the thought of it makes him upset.
β Trypanophobia (Fear of needles.) - Sage is aware of the tests that have been done on mutants, so the mere idea of needles freaks him out.
β Xenophobia (Fear of the unknown.) - Even though Sage has a longing to know what lurks over the edge, the concept itself terrifies him.
β Nyctophobia (Fear of the dark.) - Sage can't stand darkness, and even though he's 16 years old, he has to sleep with some sort of light on.
β Entomophobia (Fear of bugs/insects.) - Sage can't stand bugs. To him, they are dirty and disgusting creepy crawlies.

{{ History }}
Sage was born to Oliver and Amber-Rose Alden, who were slightly disappointed in having another son. Regardless, they loved Sage all the same, happy that he wasn't a mutated child like so many others were. Throughout Sage's childhood, he kept to himself and had no friends; however, he was always observing other children, especially mutants. His mother considered his fascination to be obsessive, troublesome, and unhealthy. He was almost always scribbling things down, usually writing stories or poems about the mutations that existed in their world on Castle Rock. They were usually taken from him by his mother and thrown out, which instilled in him that every time he wrote about something that it should be thrown away and never thought of again. This caused a misconception in his mind about creativity, and he found it extremely difficult to express himself "correctly."
When he was 7 years old, his mother, who had been expected a child for some time, went into premature labour and ended up losing the baby, a girl who they were going to name Rosie. His parents were heartbroken over the loss, though his father took it significantly harder than than his mother did. A few months after the loss, his father became extremely sick due to his grief and died a few weeks later. After the death of his father, his mother became more aggressive and was very easily angered. In order to keep himself occupied, Sage began painting his nails navy blue because it made him feel different, it made him feel mutated. When he got into his mother's makeup at the age of 9, she lashed him with one of her belts straight across the ribs on his right side on his bare skin.
Over the years, Sage only became more and more captivated by the idea of mutants. He found them to be beautiful, unique creatures, and he couldn't wrap his head around the concept of people disliking them. At the Academy, there were plenty of them, and he found one in particular to be more fascinating than most. Sage learned that his name was Alek, and he had naturally black nails and hair that would change colour if his emotions spiked. Sage never spoke to him, but rather he watched him from a distance and would do his usually scribblings of stories or poetry. Though he usually threw his writings away, there was one in particular that he kept about Alek. For whatever reason, Sage just couldn't bring himself to toss it.
His mother continued to worry about Sage's obsession, but ultimately she knew she couldn't stop it. When he turned 13, she gave him a track jacket, which was the first article of clothing that had been given to him that wasn't just a hand-me-down from Basil, his older brother. It became his favourite piece of clothing that he owned, and he wore it every day. After observing things for some time from the quiet places in his mind, his thoughts began to continually wander to ideas of the ground, the thing that lurked over the edge.
