Remnants of a War

After a brutal war, two empires have been reduced to urban wastelands and rural feudal states. A cyborg from the Keldos area wants to form a new nation by conquering the other areas but will you join her?

1,397 readers have visited Remnants of a War since Aniihya created it.

Introduction

About 40 years ago, a war broke out between the technocracy of Kurinta and the Empire of Aless. The reason was the objection of Aless to Kurintas use of technology. It was a bloody war and after a year it seemed hopeless as cities were annihilated. With no sight of victory on each side, both signed a peace treaty. But because of the lack of military forces more and more regions of the nations broke loose and now there are over 100 nations within the former Kurinta and Aless, mostly being city states or a couple settlements within one state. Now these states are feudal nations often fighting each other over territory.
A female cyborg, the self-proclaimed Queen of Keldos, is now willing to conquer the other states to finally achieve a long lasting peace. Will you join her or do you rather see her plan as an evil scheme brought forth by utopian ideas?

The land: The land is made up of many terrains such as deserts, plains, wastelands, forests and mountains. It takes about a month to travel from one side of the continent to the other by foot. Vehicles are rare but even by vehicle it takes a couple of days.

Magic is possible. There are some people who are known as techno-witches or techno-sorcerers.

It was a summer morning in the lush valley in which Keldos was. Today was one of the multiple big days in a year where Lenassia had to go into town to announce the grand opening of something. First it was the new high school building 10 years ago, then the first university of Keldos a year after and multiple other things after that. But today was the opening of a rail line between the capital and two settlements within Keldos, most probably to be expanded to further settlements with the growth of Keldos.

Standing in her red dress with a frilled choker and bare feet, Lenassia gazed upon a crowd with her red eyes with the pupils turning like camera lenses to focus on the people. "It has been 11 years since my take over and the liberation of Keldos from its former tyrannic ruler. Since then I have made a vow to ensure safety to the citizens of Keldos and the improvement of life standards within the nation. Everyday Keldos grows a bit by population due to many new settlers seeking a better life. Yesterday we had 42 new settlers come to Keldos. Each and everyone of you is an important part of the labour force of Keldos ensuring economic growth and a betterment to each other. I remember when Keldos town was just a village of 550 and today the population numbers 7000 and growing. With the increasing population and more traffic on our streets, we had to do something to make travel easier and reduce the number of travelers on the streets. After looking in the old history books of Kurinta, I found a solution: Build a railway! Now the rail line is finally complete shortening travel between Keldos town and the outlying town of Vinland from eight hours by foot to a mere 20 minutes, traveling at a speed one and a half times that of a galloping horse (horse: about 45 km/h) at an affordable price. There will be discounts on those who work in the other settlements. A two carriage electric unit as well as an one carriage electric unit with two or three freight cars will travel along the line. So..." Lenassia said and then turned towards a ribbon and cut it with a large pair of scissors. "I declare the rail line open!" The crowd then cheered.

Lenassia then made her way back up to the palace. She had to make plans to conquer the next settlements and had to practice some combat.

Six walked along the once large and proud highway, his duster waving in the dusty sands blown over the road as he silently marched on, the only sound in the wasteland being the winds blowing the last remnants of society away, like a footprint in the sand. He stopped and looked up, the sunlight just piercing under his hat and into his eyes, he tilted his head down again and continued striding along the road. Only a few steps forward and Sixty's foot fell through a weak point in the road, his leg sliding in until the middle of the road collapsed and Sixty fell through the air and landed hard against the rough sandy floor beneath him, "Damn" he mumbled as he stood up spitting the sand from his lips. He quickly dusted himself off and, pulled his hat off, waving it to throw the sand off, he quickly slipped it onto his forehead over his eyes and slowly turned around. He looked back up to spot the ruined city he noticed before falling through the road. He quietly sighed as he began striding through the sand dunes towards the large rubble city his family had once lived in before the war.

As he entered through the large rusted gates of the north wall he constantly watched his left and right flanks to make sure he wasn't being followed or watched, he continued to march down the long deserted road as he kept an eye out for any supplies he could take. Sixty noticed a small glint in his eye from a small rifle scope from a window in the large building to his right. "I'll be damned, if it ain't Sixty.....Three?" A man shouted in a pre-war western accent, "Sixty-Two" Six replied as he tilted his hat to show respect as he slowly walked over. "Well, common up" the man continued as he threw a long, brown rope down to Six. "Thanks" Sixty called up as he quickly climbed up the rope and stood along the balcony with the man. "Look at that, Damned Machines killed this great city" the man shouted un-needingly towards Sixty as he threw his arms out to embrace the city. "Well humans with guns doesn't help" Six replied casually. Suddenly the ground broke through and the pair of them fell onto the concrete rubble. Sixty quickly picked himself up and scanned the area, a bullet suddenly skimmed past his face blowing his hat off, he instantly raced forward towards his assailant, the dust quickly blew away reviling a Cyborg. The left arm human, while the rest of the body seems to have been traded for machine. He curved his path, but it was too late, the cyborg grabbed his arm and threw him backwards and through a thin wall. Sixty picked himself up and leapt out of a window and quickly zig-zagged across the path in front of the cyborg, jumped and grabbed onto the head of the machine and ran through the neck with his dagger, he quickly twisted the head until the body fell to the floor and the lights of power began to dim. He quietly walked over to the man and put his hat back on after dusting himself off. "Ya know, I wish more people could help us folk like you do Sixty-three", Sixty took a breath to say it again but felt no need, "No problem" he returned as he turned and once again continued down the long dusty road.

After the end of the world, nobody really begrudges you for drinking before noon. This was a fact that Villius Dux was very well acquainted with.

Society still objects to starting fights, though. This he wasn't acquainted with. Dux was perfectly fine with starting a fight; in his tribe, in fact, starting fights was encouraged. Fighting helped to vent pent-up frustration and anger, which in turn helped keep his tribesmen under control, preventing them from engaging in destructive acts against his property and others'. It lowered the need for a police force, it settled short-term grudges--what was there to dislike?

But so-called "Civilized Society"--like Keldos, for example--frowned upon a man decking another man in the face for calling him "inbred tribal scum" and throwing him through a door into the street. "Civilized Society" also frowned upon a citizen attempting to resist arrest by destroying a fire escape. But for some reason--probably because he was being kept as Lenassia's "pet"--they tossed him into the so-called drunk tank to let him sober up when, in actuality, he wasn't even tipsy yet, and released him by three in the afternoon. Just in time for him to appear at Lenassia's christening of the railroad. His appearances served a dual purpose; for one, it was to show that not all tribals were backwards brainless savages, as public opinion seemed to dictate. But the largest one was probably to demonstrate how powerful Keldos was--that it could subjugate even the most powerful of opponents and make them kneel before its queen. Dux may have been a large man of a somewhat surly temperament and apparently low intelligence, but he was not stupid.

Nonetheless, he assumed his place at Lenassia's side, permanently affixing one hand to his sword hilt. He waited as she spoke, rolling his eyes at the concept of a railroad. 'My feet have always gotten me where I needed to go,' his thoughts said, 'Why would we need a train when we have oxen and roads?' Outwardly, he let out a low, contemptuous grunt. He waited until the crowd had dispersed, and then let his demeanor drop, removing his hand form his sword. He followed his queen to the palace, knowing there was a war to be plotted.

"Welcome to the Central Plains." Oryx read on the sight. She and a few others of the Moirae bandits are currently scouting out, ahead of the main group. They just came from the cold lands up at the north, Felderas, where a lot of technology was taken and refined after the war of Aless and Kurintas. Oryx, having been part of the Moirae Bandits for years now, has risen to be second in command, after the sly intelligent man known only as Atropos. A well of unease has been growing steadily in Oryx's stomach with every step her party took to the central plains. Particularly that their next stop is the small town of Pewat, the northernmost extremity of her father's influence, back before he lost to the Queen of Keldos. He lost in such an idiotic way as well.

If he had invaded from the weaker south border, they'd have broken through, attacking from the east as a diversion force and to hold their army at bay. We could have been victorious!

While she was deep in thought, Oryx had stepped too far away from her group, as they tried to secure a passageway past the walls and the sentries. Still, Oryx kept her cool, being mostly hidden in the cover of the night darkness, creeping almost silently past a watchtower. She grinned to herself, and with a small burst of energy, she was instantly up the wall and behind a guard. A few moments later and the guard was dead; a dagger wound to the throat. Oryx climbed down, feeling proud of herself for the kill, after looting the corpse for some gold and a silver locket. When she turned away from the ladder, however, she was struck with a blunt object, collapsing onto the ground.

"Hey, who're you?" A voice asked. Another guard, holding a large club in his hand, looking down at the young woman on the ground, reeling from the pain. He roughly grabbed at her arm, lifting her up easily. realization shone on his face when he saw her eyes- Oryx Lachus, feared high-ranking member of the Moirae Bandits. The guard from Keldos quickly made plans to return to his Queen and earn the bounty for this capture.

In the palace, which sat at the top of a hill, Lenassia went over to the training yard. There was a table with a map on it with pins showing potential targets for the conquest. It was just a matter of time until her generals and allies would gather to discuss what to do next. Lenassia pulled her sword and got ready to slice through stone blocks that have been delivered as targets. Two quick slashes and the upper corners slid off with a delay. She then broke a tip off and threw it up into the air. It looked as if she was going to swing at it, but as she swung the sword missed but the was a loud bang. She shot at it with the rifle of her sword just as it passed the small stone, turning it into powder. On a separate table, there was a granite cube about the size of a fist. "Let's see if I calibrated my strength right this morning." Lenassia said and picked up the granite cube. She began to crush it in her hand. At one point, a whizzing sound came from her hand. It was somewhere between the sound of electric servos under stress and the sound of the hydraulic lift of a forklift. Then the granite cube cracked and broke and the crushing process became easier. In the end, Lenassia had granite dust in her hand.

"My queen." A voice said behind Lenassia. Her head turned 180 degrees. It somehow looked disturbing, but soon her body turned around too. It was a guard holding a girl. "I captured the bandit Oryx Lachus. She tried to sneak in and killed a guard in the process." The guard said. Then Lenassia answered: "Hmm. You will receive your award soon." She then looked at the girl. "Why do you kill and rob honest people? Have you become an outcast and wanted to get revenge or have you just become so rotten that you do not care about the lives of people just for your own benefit?" Normally Lenassia talked to prisoners before making a decision. Depending on how bad the crime was, she had come to a good punishment for them. Serial killers with no sign of remorse and no will to improve were executed. People who had only committed a single or double homocide were put into prison. Cybernetic criminals were dismantled and often either adapted to simple augmentations or in severe cases set as a living head in a shelf. Minor crimes were often a reason for a short prison sentence, community service or public ridicule.

Lia hated sunlight. Truely, and always. Being the weakling she was, she couldn't stand the heat and would collapse if she tried doing too much activity during the day hours. "Damn, i can't get a break from this damn sunlight." She though to herself when she noticed what looked like a bandit camp. She thanked God for her luck, because they had set up tents and looked like they had water.
"Ok, time for you all to die." She though as she moved up to the camp, grabbing both her guns, making sure she was ready for a fight. She noticed that there were only five.
"Hey, uglies!" She screamed at the bandits, and one charged at her, saying something about saving her pretty head. She raised her left arm and shot out a ball of fire at the one charging, effectivly killing him. She tuned around at three others who were coming from multiple angles and raised her right arm and shot out a stream of water that had enough presure to go straight through one. she then shot it again at another one and used fher fire against the last one.
"I know there is one of you left, come on out." She said as a guy who had attatments to both of his arms and half his face came out. "Damn a cyborg." She though before he started to charge her. She barely had enough time to pull her trigger at the cyborg, who came out of the fire looking like it was nothing.
He continued straight towards her and punched her in the stomach, making her drop her fire gun, and feel back. As he came up to finish her, she raised her water gun and fired at his head, making him splater all over the ground.
She crawled to the shade, to tired to move, when she noticed a man with a coat with pre-war symbol on it and an odd hat on coming towards her. She hoped this man wouldn't be another enemy, she didn't have the energy for this.

Beaten and bruised by the guard during the trip to Keldos, Oryx's anger continuously rose with every strike. The humilation of being caught! And well known for being one of the most vicious bandits out there, quick and deadly enough to kill a party of foes with minimal strikes. Caught by a simple guardsman. Seriously, that's pretty pathetic in so many ways. He berated her the entire time, which was pointless, seeing as Oryx was utterly at his mercy; helpless. Although she thought the Moirae Bandits would come to her aid, she knew that they wouldn't have dared. Oryx knew that she was on her own until she meets them again.

Of course, as she was lead into the Keldos Palace, to see one of her sworn enemies once again; Lenassia. The self appointed Queen who had subjugated and brought shame to her father. Like father, like daughter, and sure enough, she's at the mercy of the Dread Queen. She gave her adversary a burning glare while the guard held her tightly; red marks on her upper arms.

"Why do you kill and rob honest people?" The Queen asked, an earnest yet stern look on her face.

"Have you become an outcast and wanted to get revenge or have you just become so rotten that you do not care about the lives of people just for your own benefit?"

Not even missing a beat, Oryx replied in a dry, deadpan voice, filled with fury and distaste at the Queen's assumptions.

"We rob and kill from the rich, and we give half of what we get to the poor." Oryx growls. "Why should some people have everything and others have nothing? The poor need to survive as well, Lenassia."

Those who are rich have to pax an extra tax to aid the poor unless they are helping the already. You should see that I am a benevolent ruler who cares for her citizens. I personally do not amass wealth and the palace is the temporary residence for elected officials. It is not decorated in an exquisite way and the government should spend tax money wisely. I even take action against corruption. I made it my duty to unite all warring states and rule the nation in a way so that no one goes a day without food and no one can abuse power or wealth. I know you are a hypocrite because you killed an innocent guard who was the only bread-winner of his family. He worked hard to allow his family to afford clothes, food, education and medicine. But now his pregnant wife only has food through social welfare and one of their children might not be able to attend higher education. Maybe some time in the dungeon will give you some thought. Don't worry, we don't just serve bread and water like other nations do. Expect some meat and maybe even something sweet like apple juice. And that guard won't hit you anymore! Otherwise he will be disciplined!"

Villius was in the courtyard training his blade skills when Oryx was dragged in. Even when in what was little more than captivity, a tribesman of the Central Plains was expected to keep his body and mind sharp; hence the tradition of riddles and puzzle games in addition to the strict training regimen that the warriors were expected to follow. Not even the chieftan was exempt from this law; and so Villius worked every day, his sword singing as he worked against the training dummies suspended in the courtyard. He would practice maneuvers with his sword, then sheathe it and drill himself in unarmed combat. Then, finally, when his knuckles became raw from the rough canvas of the dummies, he would extend his shield and drill himself in how to fight with that. Even a shield was viewed as a weapon in his tribe; and so that no man should remain disarmed, all were marshaled in basic shield combat.

The warchief had just turned away from the dummy, retracting his shield, as he moved to a nearby water pump to get a drink. He grinned at the fight pit, watching the neophyte soldiers train against each-other in the art of battle. They looked so pitiful. His tribe would have crushed them were it not for his foolish pride and arrogance. That, and perhaps for their own technological and numerical advantages. His men were the most powerful tribesmen in the plains, but even they could not fight almost three to one odds. An attack that wasn't carried out with utmost swiftness and precision could easily see his people wiped from history with only their rusting weapons and a few story-tapestries to prove they ever existed. No, this had certain advantages.

He was just about to go to the war table to go over Lenassia's strategies when the guard brought in a prisoner. This was an unremarkable occurrence that took place several times a week; occasionally the bandits would be made an example of, occasionally they would be released. But something about this felt different. When Villius squinted his eyes and looked, he saw what made him feel so strange.

He had nearly sprinted the full distance to the guard holding Oryx, regardless of the fact that the queen regent of the realm was standing right there. He had his shield out and was inches from decking the guard holding the bandit lieutenant captive before cold steel stopped him in his tracks--a particularly ballsy guard had pressed a weapon against the back of his head. Grinning, showing sharpened canines and a strong jaw, he retracted the shield and dropped his offensive stance. He looked to Lenassia, a fire burning in his eyes. "You're gonna let this one go," he intoned in his gravelly tone of voice. "And I'll tell you why. You kill her and her people come after you, and one thing you do not want to have to deal with are the Moirae Bandits." He indicated her face and then turned to his queen again. "And that would be a very, very dumb move."

Then he looked back at the girl's face. He looked hard at it, examining it. The most disturbing thing was that it looked hauntingly familiar. It looked like his face, except more feminine, softer, and without the scars and the ravages of time. Outwardly he showed no changes as he turned to the queen.

"Secondly," he said, scowling, "You're looking at someone that may be my daughter."

Oryx simply blanked out during the Queen's long speech about hypocrisy and innocence and fairness. Oryx didn't really care- while the people in Keldos might be fortunate; there are countless others that are still suffering. Honestly? Oryx could hardly stand to listen to the Queen on her high horse, priding about her own people. But what about the others? What about the slaves from Terinthia, or the workers in Lazepus? There's so much strife everywhere, and yet this Queen only thinks of her own people. How narrow-minded. It's not fair that only Keldos got to be a happy place. They aren't the only people in the world. Oryx and Atropos both shared the same ideal. Take for themselves, but help make the world a better place overall. And, truly, her heart yearned for him right now. Atropos...

However, Oryx snapped back to attention after her lecture was over, but she decided this time to keep her tongue shut. No point in incriminating ehrself further; she'd rather not give the Queen more ammunition to use against her. The sooner she's out; the sooner she can reunite with Atropos and the Moirae Bandits and continue with their job- robbing from the treasuries of the Keldos Palace. Oryx hid a little smirk as she surveyed the area- useful information, as long as she can remember every detail.

There's a good side to everything... I swear there was a locked door that could be the way to the treasury...

But then the worst possible thing happened. Her father, Villius Dux, once Waverly, glanced up at the scene and charged up to meet them, almost bashing her in with his large shield. But he stopped at the last second, and Oryx saw what he felt. Recognition. Her heart sank deeper, knowing that her disguise had ultimately failed, so she glared daggers at her estranged father.

"You're gonna let this one go," Villius said in his deep and raspy voice, staring hard at the Queen with a passion Oryx only recognized on his face from the battlefield. "And I'll tell you why. You kill her and her people come after you, and one thing you do not want to have to deal with are the Moirae Bandits. And that would be a very, very dumb move."

A strange unpleasant feeling tore through Oryx's body as she heard those words. Her father defending her like a father should. She knew that he knew, but now Oryx hoped that he wouldn't tell the Queen; that he'd leave this between them. This is when Oryx started thrashing, refusing to see her father's face anymore, fighting vainly to wrest control back into her own hands and escape this wretched palace. But no can do, however, and the next words her father spoke were like ice in her heart.

"Secondly, You're looking at someone that may be my daughter."

Rage burned through her body as she scowled hard at her father and the Queen, struggling as hard as she could to break free from the guard's grasp. Afraid to face her past. Her embarrassment of a father, losing to Lenassia in a fight, and becoming little more than a slave.

"Shut up!" Oryx shrieked; out of control. "I'm not her! Shut up! Villius Dux, lapdog of the Queen, you don't know anything!"

Lenassia listened to Villius and then said: "If she is your daughter, then you have the responsibility to give her the right discipline. I will set her free under two circumstances: The Moirae Bandits will never commit a crime within Keldos borders again which includes murder and theft. And if they ever show up in Keldos, then they will act accordingly to the law and stay on peaceful terms with its citizens. If a bandit gets arrested from this point on but has proven to have not committed a crime from this point on, a release will come into effect and their bounties will be cleared. It is a compromise worth taking and a sign of my forgiveness." Lenassia then went over to the girl. "I hope you heard me. From a recent outing I came across your leader, I think he is missing something." Lenassia then took a silver locket out of a bag and handed it to the girl. "By the way, tell him that if he stick to what I asked your bandits, then I would be looking forward to spar with him again but this time on friendly terms. He is a good opponent."

But Lenassia also heard what the girl had said: "Sounds to me that he really is your father and you are angry that he lost to me. You anger would be useless then, because I acknowledge Villius as a great warrior, a brilliant man in his own way and an equal. He is no lapdog but rather an ally who has joined me on my conquest to unite the warring nations, bring peace and bring hope to the people. Not only the people of Keldos wont have to worry about starving anymore but as soon as other nations join Keldos, I will make sure that people wont be oppressed, that corruption will be eliminated, slavery abolished, that there will be equal chances of education and so on. It might sound like an impossible task but I will work hard for my whole life to make things better for people everywhere. You would have my word. But now we need to plan on the invasion of Terinthia. They didn't want to voluntarily join because I want to abolish slavery, so scouts have won the trust of Terinthian slaves and upon the time of our invasion, the slaves will rebel."

Dux stood by and said nothing as Oryx shrieked and ranted at him, standing with his arms crossed, waiting patiently for her to finish. He was about to speak when Lenassia cut in. Dux scowled, his annoyance growing by the second, until he couldn't bear to keep his mouth shut any longer. He looked over at Lenassia once she was seemingly finished speaking.

"Enough of your flowery talk, Eredon. I wasn't raised a chieftan to be spoken for by some frill-collared empress." The tone of his voice, despite his position of inferiority, said that he would not be disputed upon this point. "You know enough of my culture to know that any defeat unpaid with death is a shame that rivals no other; that a leader should live to see his people subjugated in any way is the ultimate insult. Her anger, although immature, is justified."

Then he turned to Oryx and scowled, looking truly angry for the first time in a long time. "And I figure I should know plenty, Oryx--Is that what you're calling yourself now? Oryx?" He laughed contemptuously. "A ridiculous name granted by those fools from the frozen north. But I am no fool. I know that I saw you delivered. I know I diapered your ass when you weren't even old enough to walk. I know that I took care of you when you were sick or injured; that you slept in my chambers; that I gave you every luxury that a man of my abilities could provide." His mouth twisted down in a gesture of disappointment and anger.

"And I know that you repaid the love and generosity that I showed you with betrayal and contempt; that you abandoned your own people to follow your own selfish desires." He paused before moving on. "And finally, I know that you look upon a sacrifice of my own honor to preserve the lives of my people as an act of cowardice and foolishness, whereas if it weren't for the actions you call cowardly my people would have been wiped out to the last man, nothing more than a footnote in the history of her kingdom." He threw a thumb over his shoulder, pointing at Lenassia.

"You speak as if I have brought shame upon my people, this is true. You speak as if I have brought shame upon myself, this is true. That does not mean you have the right to speak on the matter." Dux turned to Lenassia and sighed. "Release her back to the bandits. She is my daughter, though she does not recognize it, and she will go unharmed. Your demands will be met or I will put all of the bandits to the sword, her included." He spared one last glance at Oryx, then walked away. Although outwardly he looked angry, his heart was draped in sorrow and shame.

As Sixty continued through the skyscrapers of the once proud city, he noticed a smaller building not yet taken by the sand. He had a small unoticable grin as he walked in through the door. He twisted his wrist and pressed a button underneath a padding he placed, a light began beaming out of the wrist armour, he slowly strode around as he search the once prestigious living room, which had now become home to dust and sand. He quickly walked over to a small set of draws with the flag on it and tore the lock off as he opened it. He wasn't shocked to find a voice recorder and a another golden key. He picked it out and played the tape, 'Hey son, if your listening then........ Well you already left 60-2 and want to know more about your family. unfortunately this is not where it lies, this is just another safe house, but i tell you your close, 100 miles to the north is where you'll find it.' Sixty, sighed as he picked up the key and slowly walked out of the house and turned to his left and started walking down the sandy road.

Sixty walked along the now pure sand path, where the once small average houses used to be, but these were now lost under the sand. He heard gunshots and water, as he looked up he noticed a fairly small girl fighting a bunch of bandits. He noticed after their defeat that he saw a cyborg walking towards her, she valiantly tried to fight him off but he seemed stronger than her by far. He slowly walked over to her as she laid on the ground, "Need a hand?" he shouted over to her as he stood in front of her. As he heard the cyborg race at him form behind, he swung around and ran the neck through with his dagger and quickly stabbed the forehead with the other, instantly disabling it. "It's not fair to attack someone while their down" he said in a dark voice. After sheathing his blades he turned to the young girl and held his hand out to help her up, "You don't look like the travelling type, why are you here?" he asked her politely as he handed her gun back to her.

Nogond sat in his personal transport and looked out the window at his personal convoy. It consisted of three vehicles and twenty cybermages as his retinue. He had recently received information that a woman calling herself the Queen of Keldos had been trying to unite the nations of the world. An admirable goal for some, but for Nogond there was either two ways that this could end. Either a deal could be made which would allow peace between their nations or he would squash her nation and take it's inhabitants as slaves. While such an event would be unfortunate it is the way of the world. The weak perish or are subjugated and the strong rise above all others. He had seen countless places which had strengthened his beliefs that the strong must rule the weak or society will collapse on itself.

Lost in his train of thought Nogond was awakened by a retinue member. " My Archon. We have arrived at the gates of Keldos."
"Excellent." Was Nogond's only answer as he climbed out of his transport.

At the gates he saw some guards which were eyeing him suspiciously and talking in hushed voices. After a few minutes one of them walked up to Nogond and said in a confident voice. " Greetings. Kindly state your name, profession and reason for travelling to Keldos."
Nogond looked at the guard in front of him that had dared to adress him directly. In a loud and metallic voice he said, "You dare to adress me? To even demand anything from me? I am Nogond Ardan. Archon of the Cybermages! The Defiler of nations! And you dare speak to me?" Nogond grabbed the guard by the neck and lifted him of the ground. "I have come to speak to your leader. Bring me to her now or I will personally come back with an army and wipe this town of the map." He let go of the guard and saw that he was extremely pale and had soiled himself.
The guard quickly moved back to his friends and spoke to them before moving away.
"What do we do now Archon?" asked one of his cybermages.
"Now we wait for their Queen to respond."

It took Lia several moments to realize what just occured. She simply looked at this man, who took down the cyborgs without so much as blinking. He was taller than her, and by the looks of it, a lot more traveled than her.
"Thanks for taking out those baddies, but i could have taken them without your help." She knew she was lying, but she didn't want to appear weaker than she already was.
After what felt like a while, she had recovered enough strenght to stand up, but leaded against the side of one of the tents. "You asked why i am here. To kill them." She said, poointing at the remains of the bandits. "But, my job isn't complete until i see the the Moirae Bandits destroyed." She said making sure to let him know she wasn't weak.
"What about you, what brings you to this little paridise?" She said the word 'paradise' with heavy sarcasm.

Sixty chuckled to himself as the girl spoke, how she was going to kill the bandits. the she asked him why he was there, he turned to her and foled his arms and lent back on one of the tents, "I'm looking for information about my families history, you know before all this." said in his deep voice as he pulled the recorder out of his pocket and hit play. omce again the man's voice spoke. "100 miles north is where you'll find it". Sixty paused, he quickly searched the tent and opened up one of the bandits maps, he slowly traced his route forwards. "Thats not good" he said outloud as he found the city he was going to was Keldos.

Lia watched as the man entered the tent and went inside. Curious about what he was doing, she followed him, and saw that his finer was on the city of Keldos. "Why on earth does he want to go there?" She though to herself about her current situation. She had no money, and by the looks of this camp, neither did the bandits.
"Hey, guy, what does that guy on the recording mean 'where you'll find it'?" She knew he wasn't likely to tell her, but Keldos was a large enough city to stay in while she figured out what to do. She had even heard of rumors that the Moirae Bandits were spotted close to there. She reaizd that this guy was probably a safe bet to travel with so she said, "I am heading towards Keldos, we should go together." She then smiled at the man and said, "My name's Lia, and yours?"

As Moseun was walking he sighed then told in his mind "In a few hours i shall be in Keldos. Then i shall meet with the queen of great Keldos."The boy continued to walk on the sand path while some little dust entered his eyes.Moseun immediately closed his eyes.As he opened his eyes he could saw an drop falling on the earth. Moseun looked at the place where that drop falled then takes an an jar with contained wine.Moseun started to drinked so fast that in 10 seconds half of the wine which was in the jar was drinked."Now that i quenched my thirst it is time to continue walking.I already entered the teritory of great Keldos."Moseun was looking straight to see if he spoted anyone but that intense heat and the sun which was in his eyes making him to see almost nothing this being a feature of the desert.Because of this small thing Moseun was surprised when he saw 2 armed mens. One of them told the boy
-Stranger this is one of Keldos borders. This is the outpost Z-12.Please tell us your name, occupation and the motive you entered the teritory of Keldos. After the guardian finished talking the other one was looking at Moseun, whom he considered an suspicious person, told him on a superior tone
-Kid we are soldiers of Keldos who have the authority to arrest anyone who tries to kill our Queen or to harm the country and it's peoples.Moseun knew that if he would not come with an good explication he could be arrested and then beheaded if they would found out who really is.He wipes his drops of sweat on his forehead with his hand then tells them trying to be very convincing.
-I am Moseun Zarka an weapon merchant. Not am simple weapon merchant.I am making and then selling weapons made with the help of Kurinta's technology. But when i sell my weapons i meet with the ruler of the respective country or settlement to negociate the cantity of weapons that his or her country shall get and the amount of money for those weapons. The boy said then with an quick move he shows them his sniper rifle. The two guardians were astonished and remained without words.
-This is this is an rifle,an sniper rifle. This kind of weapon is rarely an many would give you an good amount of money for it.Anyway it seems you are not lying it so Moseun Zarka i hope you shall enjoy your visit in Keldos. The guardian said on a calm tone. Then the two soldiers walked back to the outpost while Moseun started walking to the city.

Sixty thourght about ways to get to the city without running into bandit camps, when he heard Lia start talking to him. He quickly turned his head towards her as he took his hat off, reviling his long black hair and his silver eyes. "Hey, guy, what does that guy on the recording mean 'where you'll find it'?" he heard as he turned to her, "He means where I'll find the history of my family, my 'real' family, and to be honest I'm a little pissed that it's in Keldos of all places" he replied quickly as he rolled the map up and placed it in his bag and took out a small bottle of water. Lia began speaking again "I am heading towards Keldos, we should go together." smiling at the Sixty she continued, "My name's Lia, and yours?". He turned around and put his hat on and held out his hand, "Sixty-Two" he answered as he walked out of the tent, he handed her the bottle of water, "Here you'll need it, and if your travelling with me I have rules, One- Keep up, Two- I rarely stop" he told her as he walked up the stair onto the highway and slowly started walking, waiting to see if she was following.

Lia was drinking the wate Sixty-two gave her when he said "If your travelling with me I have rules, One- Keep up, Two- I rarely stop." That sextence made her realize that this guy was business. However, she knew she couldn't go non-stop during the day light hours. So, she stepped in front of Sixty and started, "Ok, look, Sixty, i can't travel during the daylight for too long, I have a condition that makes me tired quickly during day-light hours. So, I can only travel from dusk to dawn non-stop, but during the day I will need a break every now and again. Got it?" She stated at Sixty, looking into his silver eyes, hoping he would understand her plight.

Sixty began walking slowly as she caught up before standing in front of him, "Ok, look, Sixty, i can't travel during the daylight for too long, I have a condition that makes me tired quickly during day-light hours. So, I can only travel from dusk to dawn non-stop, but during the day I will need a break every now and again. Got it?" She asked staring into his eyes, "Yeah, I got it. Just tell me when you need a rest" he replied quickly as he placed his hat over his head, shading his eyes from the glaring sun. As the pair walked along the high way he turned to Lia and asked her "So, where are you from Lia?. I don't see many people in your clothing where I come from?".

When Sixty started walking after he told her that she just needed to say when she needed a break, Lia felt extremly happy. "Finally, someone who doesn't brush off my condition." She thought to herself as she put on her hat, making sure her face was protected from the sunlight. A couple minues later Sixty asked "So, where are you from Lia?. I don't see many people in your clothing where I come from?". She took a moment to answer because she was remembering all the good times she had before the raid.
"I am from the Isle of Deamos." She said with a smile, remembering that Deamos was famous for its fish among other things. "And considering where i am from, you should be glad how much clothing i am wearing, most people just lounged in there birthday suits." She started again, "What about you, can't say i have known about anyplace the names people after numbers?"

Sixty was interested by her story as they walked, "My name is actually Drake Michael, i came from a settlement called 60-2, but i left to have an education and when i returned the settlement was, well it was'nt anything anymore. So i named myself Sixty-Two as a memento of where i grew up" He continued as the the pair of them walked around the courner of the Highway. "I've been travelling for nearly 8 years after finding out the people who raised me were'nt my parents, and in it self that's my sole reason for continueing" he finished before the began walking under a small bridge. "We'll anyway I'm thankfull your not running around naked" he said jokingly. "So apart from killing bandits what other reasons do you have to travel my delicate princess" he asked in a freindly voice.

Lia was interested about Sixty's past, she had heard when she was a girl about how the settlement of 60-2 disappeared, so she found it cool she was talking to someone from there. She chuckled a bit when he said he was thankful she wasn't naked, but became slighty annoyed when he called her princess.
"Well, my entire family was killed in a very rare bandit raid, no one was skilled in weapons, so they were easy pickings, i managed to kill them all, but hating bandits is what has kept me going, and who knows, one day i might actually destroy the bandits, and live a somewhat normal life." She finished with a smile, but continued, "by the way, don't call me delicate, i know i don't look it, but i am tough." She said puffing out her chest to appear larger but gave it up after four seconds. "Oh, yea, what makes you think these notes are for you, and not some stalker or something just messing around with you?"

Sixty stopped and looked at Lia as she asked how he knew the messages were for him, he looked at her almost coldly but more hopeful. "Honestly Lia i don't, but the information was for somone in 60-2, and being the sole survivor of the settlement, I'm preety sure there for me" he finished as he began walking again. only moments later his ood rusted phone rumbled, he quickly slid it out and answered, "Yeah?" he asked as a woman's voice came from the other side "Sixty i need to meet you, soon. how far away are you?" she questioned, Sixty stopped and turned to Lia, "Im about 15 minutes out, but theres a problem, i has somone with me. how aurgent is it?" he asked, the woman quickly responed "really important, take the person with you, hurry up im in the matket. Sixty put the phone away as the woman hung up, "We need to make a detore, i need to go to a village nearby, you can come with me or you can continue forward. which is it? he aske in a slightly rushed voice

Re: Remnants of a War

Sorry. I went to college and then shit got busy, and then shit got bad, and then shit got really bad. I didn't mean to lose you guys.

Re: Remnants of a War

I know this question is asked already, but I've noticed it's been two months but no answer. Can you still accept more characters? Or not?

Re: Remnants of a War

I am not sure if we can still take more characters. I would have to ask the others first if they think it is okay or if we are too far already. And no you cannot be a robot. Either you are human or cyborg.

Re: Remnants of a War

I have a question for anyone who is willing to answer. My question, that is if I can still join this RP, is that I was woundering if the character has to be a cyborg, is it possible for thiem to be all robot?

Re: Remnants of a War

nogond when are you going to post. And it would be nice to see Cypher post again.

Re: Remnants of a War

Sorry for not responding and such. I had some real life issues to attend to which now have been resolved.

Re: Remnants of a War

aniihya first and first of all i am glad to announce you and the others that i shall be able to post again every day so i am back and ready to post on this rpg.and also aniihya i apologize for not being able to post for a few few days.

Re: Remnants of a War

I meant the Techno-Sorcerers.

Re: Remnants of a War

Robots what? There are no robots here, there are just humans and cyborgs. A cyborg is someone who had a limb or two maybe even a whole body cybernetically or mechanically replaced. It is the combination of human and machine. The basic trait of a cyborg is to have at least a human consciousness and be formerly human. Otherwise, lets say programmed and always has been mechanical but looks human is an android while robots do not look human. Gynoids/fembots are female androids.

Re: Remnants of a War

Nevermind this post,,.

Re: Remnants of a War

I'm thinking on what I would post next, and I'll alert Puppette to let her know that everything is still rolling on. How long did she say she would be away for?

Re: Remnants of a War

So no one will post anymore?

Re: Remnants of a War

Hey i may be away but i said i would try to post when i could, i have no intenion of letting this awsome roleplay die out yet.

Re: Remnants of a War

Yeah Nogond you can go ahead. I am just having creativity problems at the moment for the rp, since I got some problems roleplaying when it comes to rivalry. Drama: okay. Horror: okay. Comedy: okay. But I seem to get kind of blocked with rivalry, hard characters and some diplomacy. Sorry.

Re: Remnants of a War

I'm a little busy so I probably wont get my character sheet done when I'd like to, but I'll get it done fast as I can

Re: Remnants of a War

Aniiya do you want to respond to Cypher or do you want me to write now?

Re: Remnants of a War

Likewise. I don't plan to leave. And I will kick Puppette in the lady-balls every so often to remind her to keep our sub-plot thingy rolling.
