Age: 12
Nicknames: The Young Dragon, Shrimp, Pyro, Dragon Slayer
Magic Type: Caster/Lost Fire (Because I cant think of another practical Dragon type that I like)
Gender: Male
Hair Color: Red
Eye Color: Red, Gold when casting spells.
Height/Weight: 4'11, 71 Lbs.
Class: S-Rank. (Guildmaster won't let him do an S-Rank alone though)
Magic Details: Zayne was born to an unknown mother and father. His oldest memory is wandering in the woods, and running into a dragon, who ended up taking care of him. That is where he got his Dragon Slayer Fire Magic. In addition, after eventually finding and joining the guild, the Guildmaster pushed him to learn other types of magic as well. Okay, a bit more then push. More like shove and force down his throat. As a result, he knows a bit of boost and barrier magic, though its nowhere close to being as good as his Dragon Slayer Fire Magic. Roran did teach him one spell though he got pretty good with, a very special spell that will cause him to be weak afterwards, so its a last resort spell.
Weaknesses:
Can be oblivious to what he says being stupid or wrong.
Cannot Swim.
Is nearly always hungry.
Has a tendency to rush in head first.
Will lose his cool if you bring up his abandonment issues.
Will seriously lose his cool if you forget about him and/or abandon him.
Is allergic to seafood/fish.
Is underweight and can be easily affected by force.
History: As mentioned, Zayne does not know who his parents were, or where he was born. He was raised by a dragon that he wandered into as a toddler in the woods. This dragon, Praxin, raised him for a good long time. He taught him how to read, write, talk, and a bunch of other stuff. But then one day, he just vanished. This hurt Zayne quite a bit for awhile, because he was afraid he was abandoned again. First by his birth parents, and then by Praxin. And that hurt. But then, as time went on, Zayne got worried. Zayne was faced with two possibilities. Either someone took Praxin from him, since this was his home as much as Zayne's, or Praxin left him, which he tried not to think about but deep down feared.
Eventually, Zayne had to leave. It wasn't that he couldn't look after himself. He totally could. And you could never get him to admit otherwise. It was more that he was lonely. He had waited for months, but now he was all alone, and it made him sad, so he decided to go out and look for Praxin. Of course, he found nothing. Nothing at all. Like, not even a single clue or a footprint. Just nothing. And then finally, he ran into Roran Ellian. He was not the Guildmaster yet, but he took Zayne under his wing.
The two of them traveled for awhile, building up money and saving people. Eventually, a year ago, Roran established a Guild known as Storm Shield, with Zayne as its first member. Zayne's skill level was easily S-Rank, thanks to the training from Roran and his own Dragon Slayer magic, however Roran refused to let him go on any S-Rank missions on his own. This annoyed Zayne a little, but he respected it, so he did as many A-Rank missions as he could to prove himself. As he became more famous and had more successes, more people flocked to Storm Shield to see him in action and to join themselves. After all, a Dragon Slayer in a guild led by a Wizard Saint? Who wouldn't want to join? And thus, we now reach the present.
Equipment/Notable Items: A Cloak given to him by Praxin as a child. It is completely fireproof, and is even resistant to hostile magic spells a little. He holds onto it due to his hope that Praxin did not abandon him, and when he learns who took his father from him, he has sworn to make them pay.
Other: Zayne hates, is afraid of, and is startled by mice and other rodents (other then hamsters, which he has one as a pet). They freak him out. He is also secretly timid, but he tries to hide it.
Additional History!: So, partially from both my excitement and my impatience for this to start, I am going to be posting some specific moments of Zayne's life, as well as the Guildmaster's on his own profile, though on occasion one memory for one may intersect with another due to the fact their pasts are intertwined.
Three years, One Month Ago:
Zayne wandered the road towards the south. That was the direction Praxin flew off in, so maybe he was in this direction? As Zayne approached a small town, he heard something that sounded like laughter. He looked over to see what was going on, and some local village kids were playing in the stream naked. Zayne immediately started to walk away, trying not to watch. He was embarressed not because they were naked, but because he did not know how to swim. They could all swim, but for some reason, all Zayne did was sink and splash and drown. He could handle shallow water, barely. He always felt like he would slip further in and drown. In retrospect, he hoped there was a bath or something in the village inn, because he had not had a bath in weeks and he smelled horrible. Or maybe, he would get really lucky, and they just would not notice.
He was also starving. He had not eaten all day, and did not come across any fruit trees or bushes, nor any animals to hunt down. His only issue though was that he had no gold. Nor did he have anything to trade, nothing he was willing to part with anyways. He was already so hungry, and everything was so spinny. And then, everything went black.
By the time Zayne woke up, he was being held by a woman over a large tub of water. "Oh good, you are awake. I was just about to give you a bath. You passed out in the middle of town with a fever".
Zayne then registered he was naked, and about to be thrown in a tub of water, and panicked, getting out of her arms and onto his own two feet in a panic. "Please...no....please...I..." he stuttered a little, in humiliation. "I can't swim".
"Oh, okay then" she said, and she went to go get a sponge. Once she got back and helped him get washed off, he put on his T shirt, which was the only clothing that was clean right now but lucky for him, Praxin had found him a shirt two sizes too big, so it covered everything. HIs clothes had been dirty too, so the woman had started to wash them. "My name is Ferelda by the way. I run the local inn, and I am also the town doctor".
"Zayne" he replied. "Just Zayne. I never met my birth parents, and the man who found and raised me disappeared".
"What were you doing, wandering the road on your own?" Ferelda asked. "Don't you have anyone else to go to? SOmeone else in your village?"
Zayne looked towards the window. "No. It was just me and him. Now its me. I could have stayed there for longer then I did, but I got lonely, and father always taught me that if something should happen to him or he never comes back, to go get help from a Wizard Guild. I just...I just hope he did not just abandon me...".
As Zayne started to cry, another man stepped in. "Don't worry, you are in good hands now".
Ferelda looked at the man. "Ser Ellian, please! The boy is upset, and he is not fully decent".
The man just walked up to the boy. "Tell me everything boy, what happened?"
And that was the day Zayne met Roran Ellian.
Eight Months Ago:
Zayne was riding back to town on a train. He looked over at some other guy with pink hair who was practically puking his guts out. Geese, I don't know what is worse. My inability to swim, or that guys motion sickness.
The guy got lucky, and was able to get off at the next stop. However, then Zayne's courage was put to the test...as the train traveled on a bridge across a giant lake of water! Zayne avoided looking out the window and tried not to think about it. "Please just get through safely please just get through safely please please please don't go off rail and sink into the water please please please!"
Unfortunately, things only got worse when an explosion hit the train, causing it to stop dead while in the middle of the lake. It was Zayne's worst nightmare, well one of them, realized. Suddenly, another explosion hit the roof of his train car, and a dark wizard floated above it in mid air. He was looking right at Zayne. "Ah, so you must be the one people have been talking about. The S-Rank Wizard who is still a kid, having been tutored by a supposed Dragon and a Wizard Saint. Tell me boy, do you even remotely have half the power you claim to, or are you just some useful propoganda. No matter, it matters not to me anyways. I just want to hurt your Guildmaster, Roran Ellian, and I hear killing you is the best way to do that...so DIE!"
The Dark Wizard used magic to cause another explosion. However, Zayne only used this fire to power himself up, eating it all. "Thanks for the treat. Now let me show you something from my kitchen! Fire Dragon Wing Attack!"
He hit the Dark Wizard with full force, knocking him back. Zayne jumped up to the roof, where he was reminded he was surrounded by water on nearly all sides. And he was so close to the Guildhall too. It occured to Zayne that, while he might not be the smartest, the fact this WIzard could fly and targeted him while surrounded by water was no coincidence. He knew Zayne could not swim, which meant he knew Zayne's mobility was limited. This was bad.
"Water Typhoon!" the Dark Wizard cast, causing a large wave of water to emerge and threatened to send the whole train....and Zayne...into the water! This guy definently knew Zayne could not swim. But what he didn't realize is that while Zayne was not the smartest, he knew a little bit about science.
"Fire Dragon Rapid Fireball Assault!" Zayne cast, hitting the tidal wave with enough fire repeatedly to boil it. Then, he moved to his next move. "Fire Dragon Roar!"
The two fire attacks did the trick, and boiled the water away. The Dark Wizard was fairly annoyed now, but he was not going to let that stop him. He launched another attack, only then to realize that Zayne was no longer standing where he used to. He looked around, but completely missed Zayne as he did a full magical fire kick right into his face, forcing him down. When he looked up, he saw Zayne standing on a barrier spell. Zayne could use a different spell, but Roran told him to only use it as a last resort, due to the fact that even with his magical endurance, physical endurance, and larger then normal magical supply to draw on, the spell still took its toll on his body, partially because he was not used to the type of spell it was.
The Dark Wizard launched an all out assault on his barrier to get him to fall into the water, but Zayne jumped off the barrier and landed on the dark Wizard, grabbing a hold of his torso. "You know, people say fire burns hottest at the source!"
"Oh you have to be fucking..." the Dark Wizard got out, before Zayne used his Fire Dragon Roar to incinerate the guy, sending him flying into the water while sending Zayne back into the train. Some of the other riders cheered at his victory, while the condutor came up to him. "Thanks for the assist. Now if only we could get the bridge repaired so we could get moving".
Zayne looked at the broken metal in the train from where it got exploded. "Do you need the whole bridge repaired, or just the rails?"
Zayne's patch job might not have been pretty, and it sure as hell would not hold for more then a week, but some Wizards were dispatched to give it a proper repair job, and it worked well enough to get the train and everyone on it to where they needed to go.
Still, Zayne proved himself that day that he could look after himself. Now if only he could get over his issue with water and swimming, and his issues with abandonment.
